ICS keyboard issue - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Since the ICS update my touch keyboard does something strange on the XDA forum (and as far as I can tell the XDA forum only) --it appears when I want to type, but disappears after about a second...? Any ideas? More weirdly, it's only when I use the search forum option...

having the same issue.. are we the only ones? found this thread by entering with the keyboard..
using the soft keypad it just drops away a second after it opens.. would be nice to know what others are seeing and any workaround.

Keyboard problems?

I have the new Scheps ROM and having some keyboard issues.
My symbols are not matched up to what it shows on the keypad and also, the caps lock logo is not consistent.
I'm having the same issue - I just finished upgrading to Black Satin, and now the symbols on the left-hand side of the keyboard are all messed up.
QWE
ASD
ZXC
These are the keys that have the wrong symbols - all others (as well as the numbers) are fine.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks!
guys, this is a VERY old question and has been answered many times.
Please use search - you may use the google search link in my signature. Try something like:
hermes keyboard map fix
Thanks for the help.
I know you must be tired of newbies asking the same questions over and over, but please try to bear with us. Remember that a search is useless if you don't know what to search for!
Now that you've so kindly pointed me in the right direction, I'm sure I'll be able to sort all this out.
P.S. Any chance of admins replacing the vBulletin search with the Google search? It's much better! (more relevant results provided)
try looking for htcustom.

Thumb Keyboard problem

Lets say I'm typing something and the last word is "end." If I hit enter to start a new line but then decide I want to add something to the previous sentence I would move the cursor back to the last word "end" and hit space... instead of inserting a space, it will insert the same word again "end"
So it looks like this "endend"
Anyone else have this problem
yeah i get that as well.
Yeah. Same here. It is annoying.
HTC Flyer / Tapatalk
I sent an email to the dev and explained the problem. He said he'd look into it. Do u think its fair to ask for a refund since it doesnt even work properly for us?
I'm having the same problem with Thumb Keyboard, I also installed Swiftkey X for Tablets and it has the same issue. Did anyone find anything out on this?
are you guys talking about in the notes app. because I get the same thing but only in the notes app. for example I typed this using thumbkeyboard and tried to replicate the issue and didn't have the problem. but when I typed this in notes I did have the problem.

I too am only having an issue with the notes app. When I tested in gmail, the browser(in a contact text field), in evernote and all worked fine.
I can confirm the issue happens with swiftkey x
I also tested it with smart Keyboard pro and I didnt experience this issue.
Man, there is nothing more annoying than seeing the question you are thinking of, pop up almost word for word on google....then seeing that the only responses are "I am having the same problem!" Come on, so NO one knows how to fix when you are typing, and (for example) want to add a letter to the middle of a word, like you want to add a "E" to death, and the cursor automatically goes to the end of the word instead of actaully putting the letter where you want it.
Does ANYONE have a clue what settings the Tumbkeyboard needs set to in order o not have the cursor jump to the end of a word?
I gave up on thumb keyboard... really made typing difficult with the double words. Kii keyboard is where it's at now.
i'm the same issue
That's strange : I don't have this issue with mine (SwiftKey X tab last version) !

[Q] ICS and ICS + : not possible to fill "search" field

Hello to everybody,
I have a small strange thing.
When I use ICS (or ICS+) browser on the xda site and wanting to do a search, here is what happens :
- I touch the "search this forum" button
- it opens the field below
- I touch the "free text area " to start typing
- I see the keyboard sliding up, and then as quickly, it slides back down and the search box closes...
as a result, I can not perform any search on the XDa site.
It does not do that with Opera nor with dolphin.
PS :as a matter of fact, that was yesterday, because this morning, there is not even the "search" button only the "forum tools" one... but I believe it is related to a temporary site issue.
Anyway, has anyone experienced this? Where could it be coming from?
Same here, quite frustrating....
Same here with stock browser.
If you use the keyboard dock it works. But when use a onscreen keyboard you cant type in this sorts of popup text fields
WOW, thanks for bringing this up. I have had this problem for god knows how long. I first noticed it with my rooted HTCEVO. I seem to have this problem with just about all the forums. Now my prime also.
Is it an Android thing? Did it work for you guys with a different browser? Weird, I havent been able to use the function for so long I havent even looked for the search, and now I too see that it is gone. Is it a Vbulletin vs Android thing?
Would love to know the problem/solution.
thanks.....
EDIT: I have a dock, but never tried the search function with it. Now I guess we cant, I dont see the ability to "search this forum". What happened?
Anyway, there seems to be something going on with the search function on the forum now...

edit 05/03/12 : search function is now back on the forum. I'll try again the ICS issue, see if it is still there...
Search function is still not working for me on browser+. However, I know it's not ideal for a quick search, but if it's any consolation the advance search field works.
Kind Regards,

+1 for the "advanced search" option... bothered me at first but, one more click isn't all that bad...

[Q] (Q) Noob Without 10 Posts - Infamous 2 ROM - No Bluetooth Mouse Pointer

Noob here as far as posts are concerned but have been flashing ROM's like a madman since my Samsung Fascinate VZW. I have flashed (clean, all wipes) Infamous 2 and can pair and connect Logitec Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard but cannot make the mouse pointer visable. Works fine on AOKP and Task. Tried the Yoda kernel for grins and no joy. Anyone have any luck getting the mouse cursor to appear on Infamous?
Confirmation
Has anyone else experienced this same issue with no bluetooth mouse pointer on Infamous 2? I would post this in Infamous thread but I do not yet have enough posts to do so.
Have you searched the Infamous 2 thread?
Sorry best I can help.
Just thought I'd ask so this post gets bumped and you get at least one more post.

I don't know if this is any help, but using Logitech PS3 Bluetooth Keyboard seem to make the mouse curser appear on 4.2 ICS. Sorry if I'm confused, but maybe it in the setting? I'm certain I've spy it once.
Thank you for the help guys. I have searched both the Infamous thread and XDA to no avail. Many references to similar issues. There is a HID setting that is on and I can get the mouse to "work" (an invisible pointer that when I move and click I can interact with the OS). The keyboard works fine and since I can get both the work (realtivley) flawlessly in other ROM's and in ICS AOKP this has to be related to something not working in Infamous. Might have to go back to GT TASK for my fix. Anyway, good looking out and appreciate it.

[Q] BUG: backspace after autocorrect inserts characters

There is a long-term bug in the basic Android system that affects the keyboard when autocorrect is used, and I hope someone here can offer some insight and help because it's been driving me nuts for years, over many phones and many versions of Android. Now it's just started happening on my new Sony Xperia X3.
At first, all is well. But then, after a certain amount of typing, you start to experience the Autocorrect Backspace Bug. Symptoms:
If you use autocomplete by selecting one of the suggested words and then press Backspace, no longer is the entire word deleted. Instead, entire words or parts or words are inserted until whatever you were trying to type is complete garbled.
If you press Space before Backspace, the autocompleted word will be repeated in its entirety followed by a space, and then you can delete both words letter by letter without new words or letters being inserted.
If you long-press the text to bring up the CopyAll-Cut-Paste menu and select CopyAll, only the word you were pressing on is selected, rather than all the text.
Clearing the Android cache for all apps and data doesn't help, nor does deleting all the learned autocorrect data. Turning off Autocorrect completely isn't a great solution for me because that also turns off Swype, which I like to use.
I have had this problem with my last 3 Android phones, so it has existed since at least Android Gingerbread. Google searches of this problem have turned up complaints about this bug since Gingerbread, but NOT ONE SOLUTION.
The people who frequent this forum are the smartest anywhere about things Android. Any thoughts????
anyone else experienced this?
Has anyone else here even experienced this bug?
God, yes! This is such a PITA, especially when typing om forums or fb-comment sections..! Please tell me you solved it?!
I recorded the bug to show it better - why is no-one else complaining about this, googling gets me no answers. FYI it happens to all keyboards I've tried, incl Google and Xperia.

Solution to backspace bug
Good video!
I solved the problem by switching to a keyboard that has its own autocorrect. Not all do. Many use the built-in autocorrect. I'm using SwiftKey now. It had its own autocorrect.
