Status Bar Icons - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Using Rom Toolbox with the galaxy s2 my choices of icons are limited. Because of that, I want to know if anyone has figured out how to replace the 5 Signal bar icon and ( rom toolbox only has 4 bars) the sound icon with a slash, the H+ icon, 3g icon and Edge icon. Even though rom toolbox has a 3g one it doesn't replace the default one. Also, anyways to get a differnt signal bar color?

For the signal bar u can go onto uot kitchen and mess with it. U can also get apk tool and decompile systemUI.apk, and go into drawable-hdpi and the icons will be there, and u can edit them using a photo editor like gimp.

Thanks, does anyone know the specific names of the icons cause there's a lot of them.

The network icons start with - stat_sys_data
The signal strength bars start with - stat_sys_signal

Thanks, but uot kitchen confuses me too much any alternative?

Look at the how-to section. You'll have to spend time navigating, learning the site, and how to use it. UOT kitchen is as easy as it's going to get. It's really simple once you get a feel for it. Otherwise, you can replace the icons manually. Again, seemingly much at first, but really simple after some time. In my signature, I have linked a post I made about making these changes. At first glance, you might want to run away, but it gives STEP BY STEP instructions.

K, I will. Also does anyone have the default at&t gs2 status bar icons? I backedup my statusbar when it was modded by accident

Did everthing and did not get the stock vibrate icon or wifi signal back.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777

vibrate icon as well as the wifi signal are located in systemUI.apk not framework-res.apk, so changing the framework-res file will not fix your problem

Where can I locate the system.apk?

If I was to change the icon of an app manually, would the app icon change back upon update of said app or do only the files that are newer get changed in the app? Hence technically the app icon, once changed will remain that way permanently?
Also, is there an easier way than using an apk editing tool to edit the app icons?

So basically you ressurected a dead thread because you don't pay attention to all these flashable mod zips or ask the devs behind the mods. Ppl edit the apks, repack the apks, and flash it to their device via cwm, and see the change that they made.
Download from source and edit prior to packing the apk?

I think you are talking about the google server connection? This would change the color of the signal;data;wifi when connected to it. I think more people didn't like it to be honest. I ended up making it so it was just the data and wifi on the themes I did. I left it out for mattedBlues here.
I think it was different, my Bluetooth icon would change colors when connected to Bluetooth, the signal strength changed depending on strength (a bit like the digital battery that changes on the %
I will have to try and figure out what it was called.

Well Bluetooth already does that and any theme can be setup to do that. But some roms in cappy section used tsmparts which was added into the rom.
This allowed you to modify the status bar to your liking.

How do I change the stock (blur?) phone dialer background

How do I change the stock (blur?) phone dialer background? I have tried a few and do not like any of the dialers out there. I just want to change the image file used for phones background because I dont like the stock file is blue with a white-ish center. ANyone know where the file is located?
U have to theme the stock apk. I am currently working on this. I am porting over the extreme dialer.

You could just use some of the stable ROMS out so far... CM7 from cybik is working well and CM7's dialer is pretty badass.
Can you take some screen shots of the dialer?

Cm7 w/ blue bionic theme
See now that is a nice looking dialer. Thx for posting screenshot.
I checked out cybik's thread but it looks nowhere near ready to consider. I need something stable as I am on the phone/email all day long and cant go with something not semi-fully functional.
There is no way to just change the background image using Root Explorer or something? I cant believe its not that simple.
The main thing I'm interested in changing is the blue background with the white center when showing contact photo.

Change pull down text cm7

In liberty I could change the text in the pulldown menu from Verizon wireless to whatever I want. I read you could add:
ro.pulldown.text=
To build.prop, but I tried this and it didn't change. Did I forget something?
Sent from my MB870 using XDA App
I believe there is a thread on this allready, but I'd like some clarification myself...
Sent from my MB870 using XDA App
If I am not mistaken can't you change this in build.prop if you are using mashup?
I checked and you can I think its ro.pulldown.text
Here is the link to the mashup http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19698611
The link has all the instructions to flash the zip then you can use a text editor or ROM toolbox etc to edit the build.prop
Sorry for the edits but it appears that I have fat thumbs today and can't type

That's probably it, I haven't flashed mashup yet. I'll do it and post back.

I changed my pulldown text useing jrummy's root tools you can find on the market
Flashing mashup didn't make a difference although now by default the right line is in the build.prop. is this something that is ROM specific to use this value? anybody on cm7 have this done? I'll try the root tools, thanks!
Sent from my MB870 using XDA App
I think the "ro.pulldown.text=" line is for Liberty only. It's part of the rom. I used to think it worked otherwise, but I've only seen it work on Liberty.
Root Tools is a good option. It's super simple, but if you aren't sure about a function in the app, don't use it. We aren't fully supported, and it can cause bootloops.
The edits are made to /framework I'll try to sniff it out.
Hmm don't want to make a new thread about it so ill just ask here. Is there a way to change the lockscreen text on CM7? The "Verizon Wireless" on the top right in particular.

Same thing, once the pulldown text is Edited, this will change as well.

Going to test to see if this will work.
Edit: This does change the file necessary. Use a hex editor like frhed for windows or Hex Editor for linux. Make sure to have 16 characters including the new banner and spaces following.
Well done sir! This worked a treat, thanks so much!

You can try using Xposed Framework along with Xblast tools, that may be able to solve your problem. I know that with xblast tools you can add text to the notification bar and move the clock to the middle om the bar, so maybe you can change the icons distance.
