[HELP] modding rosie.apk doesn't work!? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday I tried to do some mods with rosie, I tried to make rosie working in landscape or make 5x4 app drawer. I use apktool to decompile the apk files, after that I compile, sign and put it onto my HTC wildfire s. After I start the device everything went well, bootscreen, sim unlock and so on. But the homescreen is allways black
Any idea how to solve this problem?

Would love to see live wallpapers. One of the main reasons i rooted my wildfire. Please somebody help.
i don't know if this can help..but i have installed them on my wildfire..with these 2 files
http://download400.mediafire.com/9bq2au718iyg/1mnyzcxhzjc/LiveWallpapers.apk
and
http://download846.mediafire.com/22bqh4qd73gg/qnyhjlyjm3y/LiveWallpapersPicker.apk
i have installed them normally with astro file manager..because via adb push in system/app i get the error of read only memory =)=)
and if i do "mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock6 /system" is ok..but using adb push..and chancing mtdblock from 1 to 6..i allways get only 1 error..full memory
but..when i click on a live wallpaper..the application stops and i get an error..so they are there..but i can't use them..that's a shame!!!
I remember i had live wallpapers on my HTC Tattoo and that seemed okay, but that was on a custom ROM, so when a custom ROM comes for the HTC wildfire maybe it will good to go .

i have the tattoo too and live wallpapers..but..there's a hard root
i think that we need the hard root for wildfire..and without the NAND protection..maybe we can write in system/app..
or we can choose for a custom rom ihihih =)
Does anyone know?

I guess we will have to wait till a 'Hard Root' and custom ROMs.
any solution for the live wallpaper picker force close?

Have you tried astro to force close it ?
Btw, live wallpapers will come to wildfire, just wait the full root for people to look on a solution We can already enable JIT and we'll soon be able to O/C, combined to the low resolution (qvga), live wallpapers should run flawless
its possible. someone "just" have to compare for example hero`s hacked framework and see what they added to make it work. it is in the framework. and the work can be done right now if someone does this. i could try the package when its done if recovery havent been released at that time.

I know someone did a package for the legend but I dont want to brick my phone
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
you dont brick your phone when flashing packaged for roms. it the rom stops working flash it from the beginning.
could someone do something like this for the wildfire http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=689168
ok after installing that zip i can confirm that it does work but it removes sense and replaces it with the stock homescreen and there is no way of getting sense back unless you restore from nandroid, and there is no interactivity with the wallpapers
Which zip did you install? And did everything work fine. I really want live walpapers on my wildfire.
I used the zip in the link above. It does work however it removes sense and it cannot be interacted with.

Has anyone got it working with sence or on a newer Rom since my phone has 1.14
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App

could anyone attempt at porting this?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813946
how do i port this? flashing it wont work
It's not that hard to port...only thing you have to do is extract the png and .9.png files from framework-res.apk and com.htc.resources.apk, replace those you have in your apks, re-sign and you're done but it's not that good theme I think...
edit: oops, those are HDPI pictures, I guess you'd have to re-size them first, that's easy on png files, but .9.pngs are pain in the *ss
That's some confusing stuff ill just stick to the normal theme
And is the legend a hdpi device?

Home screen + lock screen icons.

Im creating my own rom for the htc flyer and i've removed some apps that had icons on the main homescreen and lock screen, now when I install my rom they are blank spaces.
my question is how do i change the layout of the icons and widgets/lockscreen for people installing my ROM?

If it has any version of sense 3.0 or better you can't. The tools have not been updated yet due to HTC changing the coding
It's not.. 3.0 how do I edit it?
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using XDA App
What you need to do is probably different based on what launcher your using. You may want to check out this thread. Somebody lists an XML file that you can edit for Sense and Android Launcher, and I just posted a method to restore ADW.Launcher's icons, widgets, and settings.
I'm not really sure where do go for lockscreen mods, as I have not made any myself yet.

As long as apktool works for the apk in question this should would. I don't really mess with sense, touchwiz, or blur so i have no real idea. By using my knowledge of AOSP then you should open the launcher in question. navigate to
res/xml/
there should be workspace.xml files that you can edit. Then you have to repackage the apk with apktool.
If you have the apk handy as well as the framework-res and com.htc.resources.apk and send them to me I can take a look as well

For the lockscreen you will need m10 tools to decompile the HTC m10 files and edit the layout in Idle lockscreen base apk and fusion apk. Editing HTC Apks are not like editing any other type of apk as it uses the m10 encoded files. Its alot more difficult then normal apks as they dont use the same folder set up

Lock Screen Mods

Here are a few lock screen mods I've been playing around with that I thought I would share.
Standard disclaimer applies: (I am in no way responsible for anything that may happen to your phone, use at your own risk, etc.).
Use your favorite file explore to move to system/ app/ set permissions and reboot.
Thanks to:
Ghost for encouraging me to post
Schumi 01 for requesting this in the first place
The VTS team
Turge (because I thought the arced icons looked great in his ROM)
il Duce from the Sprint forums
and anyone who gives this a try
Rename the app to just IdleScreen_base.apk if using the arced version.
Another great Mod! Arc looks great! Thanks!

Some Intresting Lockscreen Ring Position
Hi
Olorolo did some good work to bring this different style lock screen
I am just sharing
thanks....

just rename file extension to .apk and copy paste to system/app and restart phone...
Hi there, just a simple request please. fnut kindly provided me with his Rosie apk including settings menu options, landscape Rosie and no app labels. It worked perfectly on my device, however it wiped my other Rosie mods.. transparent nav bar and 5 x 6 app drawer.
For some reason all the landscape Rosie mods lag a lot on my device and I'm not to fussed about having it.
Really all I'm after is the no label Rosie, I tried replacing the Rosie_shortcut.m10 file from fnut into my own Rosie but it crashes it on boot up with a 'HTC dialer has stopped working' error.
Any ideas what's up? I can attach my Rosie apk if you need it.
Thanks again for the lock screen mod.

Putting the app in system/ app setting permissions and rebooting should be sufficient, did you check settings/ personalize and make sure that Lock screen shortcuts is selected?

Thanks fnut, and there is no need to apologies, sorry but i didn't make myself clear, when you get time, could you also remove the time if that is possible, trying to go for a sleek looking lock screen.
Thanks once again.

[Q] Change HTC Lockscreen to ICS

Hello
How I can change HTC Lockscreen (with the ring at the bottom) to ICS
http://developer.android.com/sdk/images/4.0/lock-lg.png
Holo locker on the play store is one option. Works well, free version available. Plenty of others in the store too though.
With root - remove HTCLockscreenLite.apk from /system/app
Sent from my awesome fridge
Completely forgot that side of it. Too early in the morning!
Hi, I'm using widgetlocker but the stock lockscreen is still conflicting with it so if somoebody calling me, I can see buttons instead of circle. (Annoying when you taking out of pocket and you already answer the call) is it okay to disable HTC lockscreen in all apps ?will everything work properly? Thnx and sorry of this question is too noobish

Delete the files in aroma file manager in recovery.
Flowed from my HTC branded muffin...
In aroma file manager I don't see files in ROOT directory.
Mount system before flashing aroma file manager.
