You should learn not to flash unstable ROMs based off unstable leaks for a start. Try flashing an older boot.img from Fastboot.

Download the "stock rooted kernel" from http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?10674-ROM-MikRoms-Ineffabilis-v1-0-12-31-11-Sense-3-5-Beats-Tweaks-1-02-605-6 extract the boot.img from the PH98IMG.zip and place it in the same folder you have Fastboot located in. The execute (with your phone in the fastboot menu) "fastboot flash boot ~/path/to/your/boot.img" then after that (hopefully) works "fastboot reboot". Look here for more info: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Fastboot
Lastly - learn from your mistakes. You can brick your phone more easily than you think.

No problems unlocking/rooting ever. It just comes from making sure you download all pertinent original files and be ready to rollback as needed. Don't just jump in like a crazy person.

One question I have though... when will we see a Senseless version. I'm running ADW rather than the Sense. Not a huge fan of it. lol

I remember there being at least one in the roll up sticky thread.
I thought you didn't need to unlock or even root since the leak is signed by HTC?
1. Title is misleading. You are trying to guide someone through installing a custom ROM on the resound, title makes it sound like you are installing a stock ICS leak ROM.
2. You should never flash a kernel before the ROM. Chances are you will give yourself bootloops that since you haven't even installed a custom recovery or dev unlocked yet, you would have to do a factory reset in the stock bootloader to get out of.
3. You need to specify the difference between being on stock GB or one of the ICS leaks. I see you partially mention it, but it needs to be in more detail that you have to know which hboot you are running, since the ICS hboot changed the mount points of the storage.
4. I recommend that this either be cleaned up or deleted. A xtreme noob would probably only be more confused by this guide.

Excuse me. I failed pretty hard at some points in this xD It was fairly early in the morning. But I did this and it seemed to work fine for me. I installed the kernel via Bootloader and deleted the file off my SD card (put SD card into computer and deleted) then flashed Amon-Ra , did the root, cleared the cache and loaded the Rom. I wish it could just be that easy to explain :/

Koush is giving the world access to his buildbot to test out the new version of CWM. So I decided to give it a whirl. Offers incremental backups making them much smaller and faster.
This is for ICS ROMS only
*please note that I know that I am NOT a real dev. I just figured out how to run his buildbot and got it working on my phone.
Build Details
Download Recovery
*usual disclaimer that I am not responsible for you bricking your phone*
To install
1. Download file to your computer
2. In command line, navigate to the folder you have the recovery
3. Reboot phone into fastboot
4. "fastboot flash recovery recovery-CWM-6.0.0.0-ruby.img"
5. "fastboot reboot"
6. Reboot Phone into recovery as normal
Anyone test it as yet other than you? Would be cool to see this in action, good post, many of those who wanted CWM will love you for it, lol.
As far as I could tel I was the first to build a ruby version. I just pulled the 5.0.2.8 CWM and used that as a base and had it build a touch version. I tried getting it to use the stock recovery but the only one I could find was from the all-in-one toolkit and it built, but the recovery had trouble mounting points so I didn't upload it here.
I've always been a fan of CWM but that's prolly mostly because that's what I familiar with. I've used it since my G1.
So it can flash kernels???
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2
It was built off of 5.0.2.8 so I would have to guess that you would have to be S-OFF to flash kernels. I am S-OFF and am the only one I know of running it.
Why is it only able to flash ics roms?

This is based off of Koush's new 6.0 CWM. It has incremental backups instead of the doing the entire ROM each time. That is the biggest advantage to me.

FINALLY, A FRICKING RECOVERY THAT JUST WORKS.
Jesus, I tried every recovery I could find.
I'm not mentally impaired, so I do understand (and preffer) to use fastboot, and all other recoveries either required a download of an app to do the work for you or they just plain wouldn't boot (I'm looking at you, EXT4 touch binary...)
Plus it's well documented and it's a real developer friendly recovery, not so user oriented. I love it.

or you can just flash the 4EXT recovery image from my toolkit. That is another way. 4EXT wants the app installed so it can tell you about updates and let it update by itself.

ok help?
so my question is does this allow the install of kernels with a rom not separately? Next question is if im rooted with s-off and a locked boot loader can i install this by recovery like along time ago.
So I was on the latest MIUI, and flashed Dream Kernel. That went fine, I rebooted, then tried to flash CM 9.0.1 via CWM, and the phone shut off, but never booted back up. Now it won't boot at all, in any mode. It doesn't respond when I put it on the charger either. The screen dimly flashes occasionally if it's getting power from the charger or the battery.
Any ideas? :x
Have you tried plugging the phone into the charger without the battery, then put the battery in a bit later?
If this makes boo sense.... It's the lime a Rita telling.

After doing a ton of searches here and finding a bunch of confusing posts and the threads and files I found were all for stock GB and kept soft bricking my phone I went to "the cloud"! I finally found a site with the correct file and now I am back to stock and running schmoove as silk.
Anyway, should you want/need to restore your Note to stock/unrooted state, for whatever reason, here is a link to the file:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13678253/StockROMs.net-SGH-I717D_Telus_1_20120630122852_xxzc97o421.zip
Just download the file, unzip it, put your phone in "download" mode, connect your phone to your pc, open ODIN, once your device is detected select "PDA", find the .tar file you extracted from the zip file, click "start" and that's it. Once its finished your phone should reboot and you are all set.
It will add to your counter but, you can reset that before you restore to stock if you follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569206 but do so at your own risk! I have flashed the file and it works but that was me and I cannot vouch for you or your ability to follow directions
Hope this helps
Cheers!

Okay folks. I built this for those of you who prefer to be on a mostly stock kernel.
It is all stock except you can write to /system, and adb shell as root.
I will not be modifying, maintaining, updating, or otherwise doing anything else with this.

since the kernel now supports write to system you can now root from the phone interface instead of recovery now... so yes SU's should work fine
Thanks for this! I've been enjoying the bullet-proof stability of UKB with stock kernel. Delighted to now have a writable system without the ups and downs of undervolting, overclocking, etc.

Thank you, very much. I, for one, had some issues with freezing and SOD's on the more customized kernel, but I just kept my mouth shut and used this one, rather than make a big deal of it. I appreciate the work you do and wish there was some way I could help with the development of the other kernel. Not that you need it, but I'd be happy to do any testing and provide logs, should the need arise. Thanks again for all the work. It is most definitely appreciated!

Keeping your mouth shut doesn't help. Posting as much info about when/what/how things happen is what helps. And not going nuts about it LOL.

I'm fairly proficient in adb... definitely not a pro, but I am able to work my way around. I'm going to try 2.3.1 and see how I do with it. If I experience any issues, I'll definitely post any info I can. I want to get more active in the community to give back to those who have given so much to me over the years. Without XDA and dev's like yourself, I might as well have an iPhone.
I also promise to make every effort NOT to go nuts about anything, However, bananas are an entirely different matter. ;p
@dsb is it ok if someone mirrors this real quickly dhost is down thanks

So can I just DL and flash this in recovery, or do I need to follow the steps of your custom kernel?
