about to upgrade, $199 rezound or $299 gnex - HTC Rezound

Ok so I haven't kept up with phones for the last couples of months since Skyrim's been taking all my computer time.
Gonna go upgrade and I'm pretty set on the Rezound. I really like the Galaxy Nexus but despise the fact that there's no sd card slot and do not really wanna support a samsung phone without that feature.
So my questions for those who have had the rezound (or Gnex) a couple of months are:
-rezound or nexus (or even razr but i'm not too fond of motorolas)
-how's the battery life on rezound (i come from the original incredible and currently the thunderbolt, so i'm used to horrendous battery life)
-how's developer support (i've checked both xda devoper forums, they both seemed about 4 pages so far)
-is tethering support as good as thunderbolt/incredible was?
-any other issues i should be aware off before pulling the trigger?
thanks all and I know I could go read engadget reviews etc but i really trust the opinions and commentary of the folk on xda

already plenty of threads about this, you didn't need to start another one...

I love my rezound, especially after we got a stable ics rom! Personally, i havent had any problems with overheating or whining noises like others, but my first rezound had weird static on the screen, but my current (2nd) one has no issues, Battery could get you through the day, or at least til you get home. It all depends how u use it. I came from the eris, but noticed a BUNCH of Droid Incredible devs are over here, so you should feel at home pretty quick. Imo, I feel i have the best phone in the world lol
Sent from my ICS Rezound

I owned both. Reception sucks on the Nexus. It's pretty sad when a 2 year old Dinc can have great reception with data while the Nexus next to it can only make calls.
I took the Nexus back and kept the Rezound. Haven't regretted it.

Thanks for the replys guys. Yeah when I saw it too the phone reminded me of the incredible, which I still keep 2 off and personally think it was the best phone at the time it came out .
It's good to hear a lot of dev's are over. Saw the ICS rom which says is 99 percent stable and may try that right away. Any comments on how well tethering does or does not work?
@ nosympathy: Yeah I checked back a few pages but found nothing current, I know theres been plenty of discussion about this topic but I just wanted to get some current views from people who have had the phone and get a sense of how sattisfied they are, which is hard to do looking at threads were people are just spouting out the specs

On the gb roms both usb and wifi tether worked for me, havent tried ics yet

batterywise, i get like anywhere from 13-17 hours a day, and i do a good amount of facebookin/textin/browsin/XDAin/Redditing/google talkin, etc

Posting in this forum, you're going to get mostly biased answers. I say if you need it right now, go for the rezound, if you can wait a little bit, check out the Droid Razr Maxx. That 3300mah battery in a slim package is very tempting.

I would get the rezound if it was $100 more, at $100 less its a no brainer.

Awesome dude.
Yeah the thunderbolt with a standard battery will hardly make it through half of the day, it does great with the extended battery but then it looks like a pig.

Is that one gonna be similar to the razr then? Similar specs and similar package but a nicer battery? That wouldn't be too bad, it may convince me if it comes out soon but would rather not wait too long.

Yeah that's what convinced me, I was looking at those around christmas at 300 dollars and they looked tempting, but I think 200 dollars is really the sweet spot for using your upgrade.
Either way it looks like from all the replies that nobody has any major problems or regrets with picking the rezound over the gnex. That's really encouraging to see as and makes my choice a lot easier.

Just got the Rezound yesterday. Played with the nexus for a week and decided to stick with HTC since I have two other upgrades for later.
What's the draw of the Nexus? ICS. I can't run sense on it and I love sense. Every Nexus ROM looks the same. With the Rez we can have sense, ICS sense, or regular ics. That's the no brainer for me.

Go for the Rezound man development is really starting to pick up you can currently get ICS for both phones on top of HTC releasing Rezound OTA ICS update soon!

While we're not sure exactly when HTC is going to drop the ICS OTA, I love my Rezound. Sense is..less than stellar, in my opinion. It's just looking dated.
I played with my friend's GNex for a day and was definitely impressed, as he was impressed with my Rezound. The GNex's screen is pretty, yes - but it's pentile. He couldn't see it, but I could - not sure if I have super eyesight, but it's there and cannot be unseen. And it's Samsung which is -50 points for me.
At the end of the day of comparing phones we both agreed that there was no loser in the GNex vs. Rezound debate, just two winners. One of them just happens to have a way better camera

I can tell you from a retail side of things, we are selling lots of Rezounds. The GNex was moving big numbers the first 2-3 weeks. I am still sitting on December inventory. I own both phones. I love both phones. The Rezound especially dropping down to $199 is an absolute steal, still comes with the Beats headphones. I am curious why the price drop.

I love the Rezound especially with the ics clean rom. If you're into flashing roms and stuff go for it. I get pretty good battery. I get a full day on light use with some battery to spare. But 4g blazin with heavy use and i get about 6 hours i'd say.

Rezound=Win
I went through this same situation in december. If you dont mind the thickness the Rezound is better. I am a flash-aholic, and it was a gamble for me because of development. But ill tell you what it all payed off. I think the galaxy nexus is a great device but the Rezound out performs in every way except thickness.

I meant I would buy the rezound over the gnex if the rezound was 399 and the gnex was 299, with the rezound $100 cheaper the gnex isn't even an option for a sane person.

Exact same specs as the razr but slightly thicker (In no way fat at all, much thinner than the rezound) to accommodate the larger battery.

Droid Eris November 6, 2009 - May, 2010
That seems a bit short. I'm still happy with my purchase and hope this doesn't stop HTC from supporting it later on (I know it won't be soon) and that the devs may lose interest... Oh well. Maybe i'll scrap some cash together and just grab a desire when it comes out... who knows.
**Sorry for the poor title. I didn't catch it til it was too late.**
it's really all verizon's fault, they NEVER promoted the eris, and if you went in there wanting to buy one they would push the droid on you like no tomorrow.
hopefully this doesnt stop them from releasing the 2.1 OTA update to the general public, it will really help development along for us. Someday, when my eris dies I will upgrade (damn that incredible looks so good...) but until that day, I dont regret a single thing about it. except for installing leak, good thing a got a replacement though
It always seemed to me like the Eris has been advertised as Verizon's cheaper (even free for a lot of us) alternative to the Droid, and it did it's job well.
With the Incredible and Nexus One and all of the other phones (probably) coming out soon I'd expect the Droid to take the Eris' place in the lineup, like a "Buy a new HTC Incredible and get a Motorola Droid FREE" kind of deal.
ah.... oh well...
Looks like I will be upgrading soon... and paying the full price too lol, since I JUST started my contract on November 2009... oh well technology comes and goes.. and I'll have a new testing device!

Why would you upgrade that quick? The eris still has quite a few miles left in her. Early adopters can be very annoying sometimes. I have a friend (kind of) that buys a new macbook everytime there is a refresh. Drives me bat**** crazy to pay several hundred dollars more for something that does only a little more than the old one...

We all know technology changes daily be it hardware or software or whatever...
Cell phones, pda's ect are particularly susceptible as they are market driven and manufacturers are always trying to come out with the "Next Big Thing".
Hell the moto droid is now available on several websites for 20 bucks on a new 2 year...Letstalk.com etc...
Being a former 8 year blackberry user I can say this for Android at least theyre not just putting a new facade over a dated os\ui . So long as my eris doesnt melt down at the end of life date I'm good. Also so long as you're a VZW customer you'll get support for your device even if it is minimal.
I always felt the Eris was kind of an afterthought, the way they marketed it.

It's just a thought for now... I haven't totally decided but I will wait and see what the HTC incredible or whatever VZW comes out with, has to offer... if its something like an amazingly fast phone I'll probably get it.. if not I will stay with the Eris.. I don't hate the Eris, I think it is one amazing phone
plus I'd still be on here [XDA] using the Eris for testing stuff, helping out as much as I can..
looking at the incredible's spec sheet though, it's really worth the upgrade, i mean... it literally DOUBLES most of the specs, the re resolution of the screen is 480x800... the eris' screen is 480 in LENGTH, that's pretty impressive. Will i get the incredible? if i had the money, which i dont, so i will stay with my eris for as long as I deem fit, because honestly, it's a damn good phone for what it's worth.
and what about in six more months after that and they double the specs on the incredible

exactly... I will see when i comes out what people are saying first.. and the eris is an amazing phone for the price. I really dont think you can beat the value.
After rocking an HTC Touch for 1.5 years, I bought a brand new Eris from someone and avoided a contract reset just a week ago. I think it's a great phone, and I have no regrets. I can upgrade anytime but I'm still on a very good Alltel contract so I want to hold out as long as I can before switching to a VZW plan. It does everything I need it to do.
Has anyone heard anything more about this? I'd like to know if it's actually going to happen or not. Although I'm sure if it is we'll find out soon.. I'd also like to know if they'd offer us an upgrade for free or at least half price. If they stop doing the phone completely I think they should at least offer us something. I'd love to upgrade to the Incredible if it was free or half price..
why would they give us a new phone simply because they've stopped selling it?
If you have to do a warranty replacement or anything like that, I'm sure there is a large multitude of backup units, and once those run out/they stop carrying those, verizon will simply replace it with a phone of equal value and hardware features like they always have done for discontinued phones.

I just read an article about the nexus one being scrapped. Thought you just another person complaining because they were impatient. I'll eat my words and apologize now.
yeah, the nexus one is pretty dead.
plagued by 3g problems, and low sales, the only thing to really look forward to in picking one up over another phone like the incredible is that it it's wireless N chipset miiiiiiiiiiight (big might) get support soon.
honestly, for the price you'd be better off getting an incredible and waiting for root to get vanilla-android.
and man, why do people hate sense ui so much? the only ONLY problem it has is how laggy it can get. and on the eris? honestly, I expected it when I bought it looking at the specs. but upgrading to 2.1 got rid of ALL the lag for me. I love the look and extra screens of sense.
and jebus... the incredible is rocking DOUBLE the cpu and ram hardware, using nearly the same rosie build as the eris. it will be faster then us on 2.1 out of the freaking box, and with root... you'll be blazing through apps like crazy.

Want your opinion please.

Hi gang!
I am currently a Moto guy and have been for years. However I have play with a few of HTC's android's and I must say I like he Sense.
I have really been thinking about trying to get an HTC (ReZound) but would like to list here my main usage of my phone and get some input as to what you all think I should do.
Phone Usage:
Photos: Personal (family) use of the phone but use it a lot and would like good quality images.
Audio: Enjoy listening to music on my phone from time to time.
Video: Do enjoy watching video's, as well as recording some every now and again.
Text: LOL Do a lot of this.
Reception: Need to have a really decent radio, hate being out and can't send or recieve a phone call or have it sound like you are under water or soemthing, so that brings me to...
Sound: Need a good earphone piece for the phone, needs to be clear / crisp.
Finally
Theme's and ROM's: From what I read it seems pretty easy to aquire those for the HTC (ReZound). I know you can get stock themes from the market and etc.
Any and all input would be appreciated.
Thanks, Slim!
Honestly man, the Rezound gets the job done no matter what you're doing. It's a really well rounded phone with little to no issues. There's plenty of modified Sense ROMS and AOSP is just around the corner and there was a recent price drop. You can't go wrong.
I came from the OG droid, and was all ready to get the GNex due to all the hype and ICS. After, reading more and comparing hardware and going to various forums. I heard of alot of initial problems with the GNex that some were having and decided to get the Rezound.
Figured, through Best Buy I had 30 days and once the Gnex was fixed i would swap . Well, it has been 36 days and I am still on the Rezound and haven't regretted it yet !
The Rezound is the best phone I've ever owned.
What's important to you?
I love my graphics and I love my Rezound. I played with the SGN for a bit but didn't feel right. It is nice that the SGN is getting so much love from devs but Beats/Video put the Rezound above the SGN imo. ICS Sense is so-so but that's because I prefer AOSP. Definitely not as many devs for this phone as the SGN but how many mods do you want for your phone? Not sad at all that I didn't get the Nexus. Good luck! Although, if you've held out this long, might as well hold out for the quad-cores. I think my next phone will be the next Nexus though.
SlimMan, I was also a "Motorola Guy". I started with an OG RAZR, then went to the Z6 ROKR, then the OG Droid, and finally VZW upgraded me to a Droid X so I'm very familiar with the Motorola devices.
I decided to go with the Rezound after hearing great feedback about HTC devices from a couple friends and am thrilled with the quality of this phone. It'll excel at everything you're intending to use it for and I encourage you to give the Rezound a chance. You won't be disappointed.
I appreciate all the replies, I am def. Keeping the Rezound in mind. Please feel free to continue feedback as any and all is appreciated.

I am the head of the cell phone dept where I work (186 phones) & get my phones free. I can have any phone I want & my personal phone is a Rezound.
IMHO, the Rezound at this point is hands down the best phone ever made. We have a few Galaxy Nexus phones on our account & I think that phone turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments in recent history.
I basically waited 6 months to buy the Nexus. When I finally got my hands on one, I used it for about a week & passed it on to a coworker. I was shocked that after all the hype & the release date being shoved back so many times that the Nexus turned out to be so much less than most people expected it to be.

Should I buy the amaze?

So I've been looking to buying an amaze for the last couple of weeks.
And in the past couple of days I'm having second thoughts.
The amaze still doesn't have s-off, and is lacking in devs. And even of of does get s off who's to says devs are going to buy it? With the HTC one coming.
So my question is, should I buy an Amaze now? Or go with a device with tons of development like the sensation?
Or, wait a little longer and get the One X or whatever it will be called for t mobile. Which will probably get s off pretty quickly with around 4 different versions right?
Any recommendations?
One thing to keep in consideration is that I will be paying full price for the phone. As $70 a month is a little steep right now, as I'm 17.

I love the Amaze. I think it is a great phone. But at this point I don't think I would choose the Amaze. Lack of development, no s-off, and dwindling interest and support would send me in another direction if I had to choose a phone today.
Having said that, I have no regrets and am still very happy with my choice.
The Amaze has great hardware, but its software counterpart is lacking. We don't have many devs for this phone, so if you're okay with not having a lot of ROMs to flash, then by all means get an Amaze
That's really the only reason why I'm having any second thoughts.
Coming from an HTC Incredible there has always been as many Roms as you wanted. Untilled recently everything is just perfect only ICS ports and CM7 are really active lately.
I really don't think think not having many Roms will be a problem... I don't think
The One S looks good but, I Honestly can't go without a spare battery. No sdcard I could get away with.
Thanks for your guy's input, I'll probably be buying one this weekend.
That being said... If anyone has an amaze they want to sell shoot me a message. I'm looking for around $400 + shipping on ebay.
I can't pay untill Saturday, so no rush.

wait for the new phones
honestly coming from the G2x i feel this phone is really solid, ive been running stock and i dont feel the urge to flash, it never heats up, sound quality is amazing on phone and music (imagine with beats audio) i can honestly compare it to my iphone 4 and say its a hell of a lot faster, and nicer. I love the screen on this 4.3 inch is amazing and good multitouch. THe only complaint i have is sometimes the screenbleed from the buttons can be a bit annoying but realy i dont notice it anymore. I get full 24 hour charge atleast so i like it
I came from the incredible also..plenty of roms. If you want a solid good phone then yes get the Amaze.
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using XDA
I came from the myTouch 4G which has all the development that you could ever want for a phone that was treated like a redheaded stepchild by T-Mobile. I decided on the Amaze after lurking in the development subforum and deciding on everything that I was going to do with this phone. When I saw that NRG brought Energy to the Amaze, I was sold. It didn't matter to me that it was only Sense 3.0 either. I was already subscribed to the Energy threads for the MT4G and the Sensation and it was exactly what I wanted for the Amaze.
If you are a flash-o-holic. no. wait for the one S. I mean i wouldn't be two concerend. HTC is well aware of how fast their phones die. I can't imagine that they wouldn't make a phone with terrible battery life and they not an option for a spare.
I came from the TP2 and nrgz had a ROM on that phone. By far my favorite I ran. I've already downloaded all of the files to root and flash the Amaze when I buy it.
And honestly, If the One series turns out to be as good as everyone is hyping about I can always sell the Amaze. Which is unlikely that I would.
I think the number of choices for the Amaze will be fine, I'm trying to find a ROM and stick with it.

Yes buy it
CM9 is being worked on and a few other developers are working on AOSP roms for our phone, sure it may take a while for them to be done, but progress is being made.

Is this phone worth upgrading from the TBolt?

Hi all, just need a few opinions from some people, and who better to ask than Rezound owners themselves? Currently I have my TBolt and I love it except a few things are starting to go bad with it. The haptic feedback is starting to go out, it doesn't always vibrate when I'm getting a call or text even though I know for a fact I have it set on vibrate and the back lights on the capacitive buttons are starting not to work all the time. It's just starting to get a little annoying. So I was thinking of either getting a replacement TBolt or possibly upgrading to the Rezound. I wanted to know if this phone was worth getting or if I should just stick with this TBolt til the next gen Verizon HTC phone came out. Thanks
coming from both a tbolt and a dinc2 id say yes, it's worth the upgrade.
Came from inc2, get it and you won't be able to put it down
I'm living on a yellow submarine
No I hate it!! It has too good of a screen and too good of signal strength.
Coming from the incredible, it's a substantial upgrade. I'd say try to get a rezound as a replacement to the thunderbolt. Maybe make a big deal about it. If not, I'd personally say to wait until a One X variant comes to Verizon.
I came from the evo4G and my wife has a tbolt this phone smokes both of them love it so much I would say wait for the HTC one but sources say it won't be on.Verizon just sprint and att. But you won't regret getting this phone

I came from a bolt. I think its a substantial upgrade, but I stole my girls upgrade and gave her my bolt to get this. So...definatly a $300 substantial upgrade. Idk about 600+ for retail. The screen is gorgeous and updating like 11 market apps while using your phone without a hiccup is very nice. Do miss the kickstand though lol

I came from the tbolt, complained over and over, and after going through 5 tbolts they said I was worthy of switching devices. Asked and received the rezound. Substantial improvement. Even with mostly just sense based roms available, the difference is dramatic. I'd definitely say upgrade to the rez!

Yes. But don't blame us if something better comes out the day after you upgrade.
I mean, the decision is ultimately up to you.
Rezound upgrade
I had a Thunderbolt and now am using a Rezound. I absolutely love this phone. I am also happy with ICS and appreciate all the devs hard work.
Let's just say I was waiting in anticipation for this phone when this was still called the Vigor!
I had the Thunderbolt. Bought the Rezound and never looked back. Alot more memory.
On the leaked stock ICS RUU and loving it.
The screen on the rezound is amazing and the batt life is decent, but there's no S-off and there's really not a lot of dev work going on for this phone. Only a couple of roms to choose from. Depends on what you're really looking for. Stock phone with a great display, then absolutely its worth the upgrade. If you like doing lots of flashing and a wide selection of roms, then absolutely not.

What's limiting us is the inability to gain S-Off, either way I prefer smaller groups of custom roms available versus nearly every dev working on the device. It can potentially make a huge jumble of a mess. I think the rom that came pre-flashed on it is actually very good, so why try to fix what's not broken.

the more devs the better. i know some are comfortable with what we have and im not bashing but if we had more devs im sure s-off and aosp would probably be here already. the rezound is still a good device non the less.
I find it awkward that people say they like the feel of the extendable battery. I thought that was one of the reasons people went HTC over Samsung because of the perceived build quality. None of my Samsung phones have ever creaked as bad as this phone does with the extended battery put on. Makes it feel even worse than my old MT3G.

I have to ask...why to NOT get a Rezound?

Ok folks, don't hate me here for asking this...but, what are some of the reasons to NOT get a Rezound? Also, if you had to do it again(knowing what you know now), would you get something else? If so, which phone would it be?
Thanks all.
The only complaint I've ever had about my Rezound has been the wait for ICS but, between the leaks and the awesome people at XDA, I really can't complain. This phone does everything I want it to do and does it well. I can't think of any reason why I would want another phone.
I wouldn't get it again. There's no cm9, or cdma miui. Only option is sense which gets boring for me after a while. Not to mention all the fighting in the forums. Worst one I've been in yet... It is a good phone though if you like sense

ummm.....ok? not sure what that's all about. I'm trying to decide what to get next. That's why I posted the question(s).
I currently have a Razr and am not happy with it. Today is 14th day of my 14-day trial period and will be turning it back in this afternoon. So now I'm stuck trying to decide whether get something right away, or wait for something else and stick it out with my original Incredible. I've been leaning toward the Rezound, but just wanted a bit more input from people that have/had it.

lol just keep buyin phones and return them within their 14 day period until you find a keeper
etiher way, it's either the S3, or the Inc 4g......i'd get a rezound over both of them.

Why the Rezound over the Inc 4g?
Also how has the battery life been on the rezound? With this Razr, I still have about 40% left ay the end of a full work day. That's with calls, texting, internet browsing, Facebook, etc.
I havent really found a reason not to like it. It's a great phone. I'm running con Rom and its fantastic. Out of all the smartphones I have had, I like this one the best, for what I use it for. email, texting, tether, fb......

Only complaint is battery life could be better....gets a little hot sometimes but I overlook it.
If I had my upgrade back, I would probably buy the S3. Mainly because I *think* it will get AOSP sooner. If I'm wrong, then no, I probably wouldn't switch. As my main issue with the rezound is battery. All that being said, I don't dislike sense. I just like to switch back and forth. That and I think it would be nice to have NFC. That's the only reason I considered a Gnex. But I'm not sure if I will like the screen or not as I haven't seen it in person. If I had an upgrade today, I would compare the Rezzy to the S3 and make my decision from there. As I really do like the Rezzy.
However, from here on out I probably won't be buying another HTC after they dropped support of their tablets, some of which had only been out for 6 months. (jetstream) and those customers paid like 800 bucks on contract. To me, that's dirty. And for that, I won't be purchasing another HTC product over. It will only be my second switch since getting my first XV6800. The only non HTC product I've had was the D2, and it was because I came from the TP2 and it was the only android I thought was worthwhile that had a keyboard. Just my .02.
Anyway, the Rezzy is a great phone, and I don't regret my decision. So if you did choose it, I don't think you would either.
Rezound's battery is not great IMO.
Honestly, I would have held my upgrade a bit longer if I could redo it.

Battery drain like a Hummer uses gas. Main issue I have, other stuff is nitpicking. Pink softkeys and light leak annoyed me until a dimming mod came out for ICS ROMs. Lower visibility in sunlight than AMOLED or the newer SLCD2 displays. Same material as Gorilla Glass but off brand; may scratch and break a tad easier due to quality, a cheap TPU case at the least to provide a lip on the display and screen protector suggested.
Knowing what I know now, still would pick over the GNex and Razr at time of purchase in November/December. *Today* I may wait for a Inc4G for better battery (but screen visibility in light must be decent for me to give up 720p) or a GSIII for performance if money or contract update factors were not considered.

What, internet editor reviews? Who in mainstream takes into consideration all the mods and ROMs here? And puts it into context for the current state of affairs, such as new phones and software updates? Don't mind these questions of the community at all during milestone events, best way to get info.
Rating thread 5 stars.
I bought mine at Launch after briefly playing with the other options at the time. I STILL think it was the best choice at the time and I still think it is the best choice out there right now.
Obviously haven't been able to compare side by side with the Incredible 4g or SGS3, but I'm happy waiting to see what happens this fall - hoping HTC will do something really exciting (besides a "phablet").
........ my $.02.
If you like sense and can deal with a not so great battery.... BUY BUY BUY!!!!
If you want AOSP and expect a thriving developer community.... RUN RUN RUN!!!!
That snot to say there is 0 development. There are some really great developers here, Joelz, Newt, and they do some great things with Sense. Scott is really good at releasing debloated and stable ROMs. I'm running his ROM right now actually.
Just don't let the unlocked bootloader fool you. I think most of the developers on VZW contracts switched to the G-Nex because of it's developer friendly nature.
I'm not big on Sense so I regret my decision.
battery drain but u can have bigger battery and get 5 hours screen time
heat - yea too much 44c or more if its summer after 10-20min on web [wifi]
extended battery will help reduce heat and get u far from it
why to buy rezound
screen res
sense4 [thx to newt ]
sdcard [hard to find those days]
removable battery
4.3 not 4.7/8 inch screen [ mostly cant reach the top side of the screen]
not far behind in term of performance
Im currently a Fascinate user trying to decide whether the Rezound is worth my last upgrade before the data plans change next week. thanks to XDA and flashing kernels\ROMS, my Fassy has been the best phone I have ever had. I hate to see it go.
Ive been reading everything here I can on the Rezound v. Gnex (even iphone since my gal finally replaced her original incredible with the 4s yesterday). I really am leaning towards; I think the Rezound is the most underrated phone at VZW right now, I just dont like Sense and the battery issues. But I trust devs to find fixes for each, just like they did for me in the Fassy forum.
For me, Androids are getting too big. I dont need a brick in my pocket. The combo of size and poor reception has me thinking the mod friendly nature of Gnex still isnt worth it and that SIII wont make me happy.
I love droid, is the Rezound worth making a final stand on ?

I forgot to mention, my primary concerns are with :
1. corporate email use
2. form factor
3. battery life
4. call reception\ data reliability
I dont use most of the multimedia stuff out there

If those are your most important features, you might want to get a Razor Maxx. The best thing about the Rezound is the multimedia stuff. If you will be outside alot, do not get the Rezound.
I was in the same situation as you. I first got a Razr Maxx and did not like it, mainly because of the screen. I returned it and got the Rezound. In my opinion, the Rezound is an excellent device in its own because I have practically nothing to complain about. Battery life is according to everyone's usage habits and I think it's not bad. Camera is excellent and performance is awesome. The only thing I don't like about it is that it can be complicated for a non-techie guy to root it and have S-off (I am still trying to get S-off with no success). I don't really care for AOSP because a de-sensed Rom with Apex or Nova launcher in my opinion is better. However, right now, if I were you, I would hold on to my upgrade and wait for the Samsung Galaxy S III. Definitely. I would have gone with the Galaxy S II already if it was on Verizon.
I can honestly say that it was the best phone for the money. That's really the only reason I bought mine. Otherwise, I would've gone for a Galaxy Nexus.
Thanks for the input; I talked vzw into letting me upgrade a month early due to 'technical issues' with corporate email never quite working right, which has been a dissapointment (hasnt worked right on fassy since eclair.....). The catch is, I can upgrade to any android, but not an iphone.
Ill strongly consider the SIII as a preorder, and rezound is my second choice at this point. Would have to do either in the next few days to keep my grandfathered alltell unlimited plan. The S looks big for me however, would be nice to see it in person first

Personally, ill never own a motorola again. Nothing but problems with them and of I was tempted, locked bootloaders are a dealbreaker
