Try clearing the cache (and possibly data) from the market app. Restart the NT and see if it will work.
Do you have multiple Google accounts?

Have you confirmed that your nook is logged into your market account?
Beyond that I'm stumped as to what it could be.

Logged off my google account on the computer, opened the market on the NT and downloaded an app, opened Android Market on the computer and logged back in, no change to listed devices....
Oh well, no real issue as I can still access the market directly from the NT, just a convenience thing.
Thanks for the suggestions.

My Streak was working fine. It has 2.2.2 Froyo OS. Today itself I tried to install an application. The application showed Starting Installation. But the application install never happens. I am not able to install apps from the Android Market. For the same I did a factory reset and the hard reset. But nothing worked. Still facing the same issue. Please help.
Try going to settings/applications/manage applications/ scroll to and select market. Tap uninstall updates, and clear cache then give it a try.

Any way to get around carrier restrictions? both in the market and out? Example: during early netflix apk version releases posted here, I couldnt install from using the stock browser. But when I use dolphin, I was able to download/install.
Now, looking for a way to install carrier restricted apps in the android market.

Sometimes removing your SIM card and accessing the market over WiFi will allow you to see more apps in the Market.
Any app that you can DL the APK for can be loaded by checking the unknown sources box in the application settings.
Changing the fingerprint can make many more apps show up.
The stock browser may not download some file types and you have found the easiest solution - use a different browser.
Hi,
I have just been able to Root my Nook Tablet...but I'm stuck on the "Android Market" step...
I can't seem to be able to install anything simply because I don't have any "android" device associated with my Google Account...
How can I "add" the Nook Tablet as my Android Device in the Android Market?
Many thanks!

When you first go into the android market for the first time, you should be prompted to login to your google account. For me, i had a gmail account and just used that. It will then sync the NT with your google account.
Hi,
Thanks for the tip. I actually did try to login from the NT on the Android Market webpage with my google account and got to the same result....
The Android Market webpage simply complained that I have no android device associated with my google account...

I'm not exactly sure how to fix the problem then. I couldn't buy off the android market because it wasn't sync'd to my device, but as soon as I finished the root, restarted the NT, installed go launcher, and went into google apps on the NT, it sync'd and I was okay to buy apps from either the NT or from the webpage.
You are sure you completed the root process correctly AND restarted the nook (I had to manually restart it after root process because it didn't auto restart, by holding down power button until prompted to shut down, then push ok on screen and then turn back on). The first time I tried rooting I couldn't get google market to sync because I hadn't restarted the nook since I *thought* I was done with root, but really wasn't.

Hi, thanks for the reply...
I actually am not sure I did a restart on the NT after rooting...I was trying to install the Go Launcher EX from the Android Market directly (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex&hl=en)...should I try installing a different version Go Launcher from one of the links provided here in the forum?

The android market will not run until fully rooted, which requires a restart after the nookandzergy.bat file is finished, before you do anything else. If you haven't restarted, try that first. If it still doesn't work, try a factory reset, then do the root again.
Go Launcher EX is what I used. I got it just like Albert did on the youtube video that is linked in Indirect's root post. The only difference is I had to manually restart.

Hi Guys,
I am trying to find Facebook and Twitter Application for NT.
Even though i have widget for both, i am looking for Application.
Can somebody help me with Apk..
Cheers!!!!
Im looking for this as well so I will be watching for an answer.
Thanks
Are you guys looking for THE Facebook app, because AFAIK, it does not work on the NT. I don't know about the official Twitter app. I use Tweetdeck (sideloaded from my phone).
I should have said the "roooted" NT

No you don't, I have the latest versions of both and they're running flawlessly.
I'll post the apks in a sec.

Flawless Victory! Facebook app works and Widget too! TY for this.
FYI: The newest versions of both apps work on the NT. The market just won't allow you to download them [another reason I'm returning this thing.] You need to sideload the apks.
even if you went with the KF, your stuck with 8GB without expansion....worse screen, more fragile, etc

Actually, I sideloaded those apks before I rooted, and they wouldn't work once I'd rooted. I went into the Market and replaced them with the Market versions and they work just fine.
@Torrential91
Did you lift the Twitter .apk from a rooted device and if so...what directory was it hiding in?
I spent 45 minutes this morning looking in my old Hero and couldn't find it. I came here to to get the treasure map and you have just delivered the treasure.
Thanks!
any idea where the Google+ .apk might be?

EDIT: For those of you who are rooted, I just made a thread in this forum on how to install apps that aren't showing up in the marketplace. Maybe that will help as well.
I'm still getting FC's from the com.facebook.katana-2.apk.
Anyone else experiencing this/fixed it?

Are you trying to use it on a rooted NT? Which root did you use?
This time around I'm using the Snowball root.
Yeah, snowball-mod has some issues with Facebook and the XDA app... I'm looking into it now.
Hi,
I downloaded the apk via your link above from the browser on my rooted NT (basic root using Indirect's latest instructions), and the download completed. But when I select it (to install it) my Nook says "Cannot open file."
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Do not use the built-in file explorer. It was designed to prevent people from sideloading applications. Check out "ES File Explorer".
I rooted my nook tablet with the SnowballMod root and everything is working fine, but some of the apps in the android market are missing. I have tried editing the build.prop file and clearing the market data and cache to spoof the market, but it still wont work. does anybody have ANY ideas?
theres not some, more like a lot and thats normal cuz its happening to everyone. apps that dont appear on the market have to be downloaded as .apk files and then transferred to your nooks sd card i use drop box and es file explorer for this procedure
how would i do this? how close are the people to fixing this and being able to install custom roms? i need facebook.

It's not technically broken. The market should not show you apps for which your device does not meet the requirements. That doesn't meet they don't work, but that you have to install them another way. After updating my phone to ICS, I had to sideload Tapatalk, since it is not "technically" compatible with ICS, even though it does work.

1) Use the web app (it's pretty good, and doesn't have any background processes)
2) Look for the thread in the App section titled "[download] Facebook, Twitter and Google+ apk"
DEVICE: Nook Color
OS: Currently Android CM7
App: Google Play
Subject: Easiest way to re-download apps
OK, searched Google, searched the forum, used the "Here are the similar threads we found:" and couldn't find a definitive answer.
I originally installed CM7, then tried CM9 and am now going back to CM7. In the meantime, I have installed A LOT of apps from Google play. No, I didn't do any backups using Titanium, but I will once I get the apps back.
Somewhere along the way I got the impression that Google Play automatically downloaded all the apps you already purchased on your "new" device. I did see the screen during initial setup that said something about doing what I thought was downloading the apps, but I read it as if you want to do this later, click cancel.
So, can I trigger a download of all those apps, or do I just need to pony up and click install in Google Play on the device for EVERY app and remember to use Titanium backup the next time I am planning on wiping my device?
Hmm...why not you try to clear data from the play store app via settings?it should prompt you again...

On the device, Go to Play, then settings? No obvious option for that from what I see.
I don't see anything under the device settings either.

Found it. OK, now should I get prompted somewhere to re-download? I didn't.
Worse case, I did find a decent spot on the Google Play website I can push the apps from on my PC. Still have to do it one at a time, but easier than through the Nook.
O.O ...then try to uninstall the google play update...it will redownload again...no guarantee that you will get what you want but won't do any harm either...

Well, thanks. I ended up reload my wife's...I upgraded her from a 1GB to a 32GB and got no real upgrade prompt from Google, so fortunately Titanium Backup worked. I guess I misread that prompt. I'm guessing it's just actual data, not apps.

OK, so I wiped mine last night and loaded CM9...and it started downloading the apps (after prompts). That ran like garbage, so I reloaded CM7 again this morning. Nothing...must be a feature of CM9 somewhere?
I am really confused.
It is an option on the Android OS, not particularly on CM7 or CM9.
I don't have the NC in front of me now so I can't confirm for sure but under Settings -> Privacy (or something alike), there is an option called "Automatic restore". If you get it checked, it will automatically re-download and reinstall all apps that saved/stored on your google account. You may uncheck it if you don't like.
.
Try doing exactly like votinh said. It works for me.

I'm wondering if it is only with ICS...or some post CM7 based build. I did find an article on it so at least I feel a little more sane. However the setting you are referring to is only for data. That makes me think there's something different between the CM7 & CM9 builds...perhaps Android itself added the option between the two.

I've tried that before, but I unchecked the box and checked it again to no avail.
Settings > Privacy > Automatic Restore was checked by default. I unchecked then checked again and no apps came down and I was never prompted.

Not sure if this is what you are talking about, but if you go to the bottom of Google Play, and click My Orders and Devices, then on the next page, select the My Devices Tab, I think you can delete it there.

I am having the same issue - did resetting the devices work?
if u dont have too many apps then go on play store find that apps and under stays to check option Auto Update
I FIGURED IT OUT ! =) ... well to some extent ..
In CM 10 i just went to the ROM Manager and choose "Fix Permissions" And after a reboot it started downloading my apps again =)
Now i have used "Fix permissions" in CM RECOVERY mode a hundred times before. But that did not help my apps to auto-download on a new device.
So just to be clear. this is the APP "ROM Manager" NOT the "volup+home+power" CM Recovery "Fix Permissions"
