To change the language to English Just delete all other languages from Installation directory and keep english or you can right click on the taskbar icon and choose the language english. Hi all,
I have been looking around for long time and trying different solutions to add Arabic (BIDI or RTL) support to my vibrant but with no luck.the only thing is just adding the font so instead of showing squares it shows the letters but disconnected and in reverse order.
Have any one been successful in porting the language support from the i9000 middle eastern rom? I tried but my phone will not boot and I don't know how to access the log at that stage to see why or what is missing.
Do we have a better built in support in froyo? Or it is the same?
I have seen many threads in many forums but most are not active for long time.
Any help will be appreciated.

I managed to make an arabic 2.1 rom. Everything works fine with exception of GPS. Just do not know how to create a flashable zip file for the rom to post it.

Can you provide us with that script or show where to get it from? maybe we can update it to work with the new rom.
There is an update rom running froyo 2.2 for Orange (I9000JHJP4) and has support for Arabic and hebrew, i tried to get some files from it to my 2.1 but did not work, i know i am missing more files that should be also integrated. that rom is for the international Galaxy S i9000 so it might not work with Vibrant
you can find the rom at samfirmware.com

I tested this patch without any changes and got the same error
I am trying to understand this java disassembled code to be able to fix it for the new ROM.
The patch already cover the full range of unicode characters for hebrew and arabic + other rtl languages.
Can anyone help me with generally understanding the disassembled code or provide links to some resources that can help?

Look at this thread, one guy is trying the same thing and he is getting the same error, and i think he got a work around in a hebrew site which i could not understand so you might find the solution to your problem there http://iandroid.co.il/forum/topic5657.html but for me I still need the Arabic character reshaping so RTL alone is not enough
And this is the link to the XDA thread where they discuss the same issues, and it seems that they are about to integrate the BIDI solution into the AOSP and CM

I know the installer sucks but there is no other way. you have to get the latest version installed through it and then get it licensed otherwise it will not work at all. and you also need to install the full version which is greater than 10mb.

There are various modded versions of swype floating in the web. I have a slimmed down version of Swype 3.6xxx with only Polish and English languages which takes only about 2.8 mb and not 10 + MB. Use google or maybe some local android forums in your language.
Actually a while ago you could get all the modded versions of swype from xda but then Swype people started moaning and posting links to swype was banned on xda.

bad answer ???
the TS say is downloaded but not working
then ask TS check his / her language and keyboard got wrong ???
You need to uninstall previous Swype versions in case you want to update or when the licensing breaks. Then use the Swype Installer again.

Hello,
a method to change the language is to make the root of the device and then install a rom that supports the language you want
or try to download a program called "Local Custom" or "MoreLocale 2" , is in the Android Market or on the Internet
install it on your phone / memory card and do it ..... then choose from the language if there
excuse the language but I'm not english

Hi xda community I'm going crazy for days because I do not understand why the application settings (CyanoGenMod7) that I modified with Apk Tool does not install on my device when the ROM is installed, I just changed some words in the language files but nothing else why the application is not installed, and what's the solution?

Needs to be resigned.
I resolved Thank You very much
Hi all, please anyone help me with
that issue ..
Firstly I'm sorry if it's not the
right place for this thread
I have a Samsung i5510 ( Galaxy
551), Rooted, with a stock Arabic
2.2 firmware ..
After I've downloaded an
alternative virtual keyboard from
the play store, it seems a good
choise .. so I went ahead to Root
explorer to delete the stock
virtual keyboard, I deleted the
two files " AxT9IME.apk " and "
AxT9IME.odex " ( after reading
it's ok to delete it if I have an
alternative )
Now I don't have the stock one
and that's fine .. the problem is
with the physical keyboard, I can't
switch the language to Arabic, it's
now in english only, Arabic ( the
secondary language ) hade gone ..
the swiching button on the
keyboard just does nothing now
I'm not talking about forcing a
rom to type in Arabic, because it
does indeed ( before this problem
ofcourse )
I'm talking about what these two
files have done to the physical
keyboard, I can't use it for arabic
now ( but I can use the virtual
alternative for that )
I've tried downloading the two "
AxT9IME " and forcing them to
system/app, but it doesn't help
Please help, I'm tired searching,
thank you.

Oh then that's why. You need the APK that originally came with your model

Yeah thank you anyway for replying, seems that i should do what i hate by installing the whole rom again, because the files of this model are rare, and i don't know about things like extracting certain files of roms.
No problem best of luck, I wish I could've solved your problem
