Hello!
I had made the mistake of disabling Superuser on my Prime this morning because I was getting a "denied" error when trying to "Protect" my root this morning. Now when I try to re-enable superuser, I'm not given that option. I've checked the downloaded and the all tab. Superuser is there but it says that it is disabled.
Help!
Thanks in advance!

I got the phone yesterday and only installed the automatic updates from the play store. I did try and side load one app but took it off.. Now I have been getting this message when I turn my phone on. TO correct this I have to pull the battery.
I have now uninstalled all the apps that require root access... root browser, ROM manager, Ad away etc.... Has not re occurred yet
Any ideas?
factory reset
I just did a factory reset and am still getting the error
I just noticed i am unable to turn on bluetooth after the JB update, when pressing the bluetooth symbol it just says turning on and it doesnt.
Same thing from Settings, it says turning on and nothing happends, i tried to turn off wifi from settings and then turning on bluetooth but same problem, then wifi would not turn on either.. tried a reboot but i could still not turn on either wifi or bt.. after a reset (turn off and then volume down + power) wifi was enabled again but still no bt..
Anyone else got this problem and/or a solution?

From what I can recall I believe it has something to do with losing root after a factory reset on jelly bean.
Weird, i had superuser and installed SuperSu from market, then i tried to remove superuser but it failed (one guide said delete the superuser.apk and install superuser from market and remove) I ended up disabling the superuser application within androids apps.. after the update i did not get root back from the OTA rootkeeper within SuperSu's built in function and was freaking out badly...
Then i disabled root in SuperSu and enabled then suddenly i had root back
Any suggestion on what to do now?

I was able to successfully root using vroot on MJ7 and got the Chinese suoeruser.I verified I had root via Root Checker Basic. When I opened terminal emulator and entered the two line codes, the phone rebooted and I lost root. I did not get SuperSU installed and every time I try to root again via Chinese Vroot the program states I rooted successfully with a blue check mark but the phone is not actually rooted. I downloaded Supersu manually but it is missing binaries. What am I doing wrong? I deleted user data and factory reset the phone from boot menu many times but still I get the same result. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I had not placed the phone in airplane mode initially so I don't know if that made a difference. Now when I try to vroot the phone, I get the security notice stating an attempt to access a secure area of the phone was blocked. Is there a work a round for this? I am really frustrated. All I want is to is to get free wifi tether with my unlimited data plan. If I can do that without root even better.
Hi all,
I just got an S5 today and it has KitKat 4.4.2. I accidentally clicked on the "Software Update" button in the "Settings>About Device" page and it started downloading Lollipop OTA. I couldn't find any way to stop the download. I have no intention of upgrading to Lollipop any time soon, so now I'm stuck with nearly 1GB of wasted space and an annoying nag to update.
I've been looking through this forum and it seems like the only ways to get rid of the nag and clear out the downloaded update require a rooted device. I prefer not to root my device so I'm wondering if there's any way to get rid of the nag and the downloaded OTA update without rooting. Do I pretty much have to do a factory reset?
If factory reset is my only route, will the OTA update just get automatically pushed back out and downloaded to my phone in a few days or weeks? If so, there wouldn't seem to be much of a point in doing a factory reset if the update will just come back. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
John

In my case, disabling "Software updater" or something similar in Application Manager stopped the auto update (you can verify by tapping on "Software update" in settings again and nothing should happen).
Thanks for taking the time to respond. The post you linked was one of the articles that I looked at previously. The suggestions in the post seemed to only be applicable to rooted devices so I wasn't really able to use them. But thanks for linking it nonetheless.
In the Application Manager, I see two "System Update" applications. One can be turned off but other can't so I guess by default that that will be the one I'll stop. When I try to turn "Software Update" off, it gives me a nasty warning about stopping a system app and causing instability. Has turning off that application caused any instability on your device?
Also, all of these suggestions deal with how to prevent the OTA from downloading, but do you know of any way to get rid of the update and free up the space once it's already downloaded? I accidentally downloaded the OTA update and I'd like to remove it and have the phone not download it again. Will I have to do a master/factory reset in order to get rid of the update?
Thanks again for your help.
That nasty warning appears every time you try to disable ANY app, not just this one, and I've disabled a bunch of default bloatwares without any side effect. So you can just go ahead and disable it. As for the downloaded update, I would suggest using a file manager to list all files in the internal storage and sort by size, it would likely be the biggest file.
Thanks for the advice, Master 619. I tried using a file manager, as you suggested, but the file is not showing up. I'm pretty sure it's because my device isn't rooted and that file is in a protected area so I can't get to it. I'm figuring that I'm just going to have to do a master reset and then disable the "System Update" application.
I am having some issues with the G9 I am working with. I have root using the latest Magisk. But every time a "security update" installs and reboots the phone, I lose root. So I go back into fastboot and reflash the boot img. That solves the problem. But it is a minor nuisance I am trying to workaround. I have tried searching for days, trying to figure out how to STOP system updates. I installed a root service disabler and disabled a few different services.
I still cannot seem to figure out what service is downloading updates. I have already gone into Developer Options and disabled automatic updates. And there was an update waiting that I kept paused. Last night I got the popup reminding me about it. And it was supposed to "remind me later". But instead installed it in the middle of the night.
I could care less about opinions on whether or not to allow updates. I would just like to know what service or file I need to cripple to get it to stop. I want to decide if or when something runs on my phone. Any ideas? Android 9.
And you will lose root after update, it's normal

If you are using a G9, not a G9 Pro, could you please link me to the stuff to root it?
