I wanted to post this as a reply on the developer galaxy note "[STOCK ROMS] N7000 All stock ROMs + install + Root guide All at 1 place,Latest XXLA4" thread but since i can`t post in developer section....... i`m just gonna post here, recently as i had to downgrade to install root privileges i was faced with a problem, whitch firmare is wipe and witch is no wipe? i searched around the internet for a while and after some time i found a post where someone was saying that he downgraded to kj1 and then rooted and upgraded again without losing any programs and so i assumed it was a no wipe version and proceeded with the install only to find myself with no apps after the install........ can you please post if it is wipe or no wipe next to each rom so that other people faced with this question do not meet my fate?

Hello. I came here from the Xperia X10 mini forum, because i just got a S2
Thing is i don't know what to do with it. With the SE it was different, I was a SE user my whole life, so I was up to date with how to do things on SE droids (root, flash with flashtool, etc.). But i have 0 experience with samsung.
I have:
PDA: I91000XWKE2
BASEBAND: I9100XXKDJ
KERNEL: 2.6.35.7-i9100xwke2-cl187606 [email protected] #2
It's running droid 2.3.3 and I cant update with KIES because it gives me windows encountered a problem etc etc... the old send dont send but on windows 7 (x64).
So I would like to flash it to a 2.3.5 rom and root it. Can anyone explain how do I do this? I don't know what and where to search because I'm new to samsung.
So far i have downloaded ODIN 1.85 and a found this "GT-I9100_OXA_I9100XXKI3_I9100XXKI3_I9100OXAKI3" file. What do i do with it? (also explain steps plz).
I never had a smartphone in my life before I got my SGS2, and I managed to flash all the ROMs without creating threads with questions that are answered in stickies. But maybe I'm a genius, not anyone can be one.
So, try here for starters.. or just search around.
install this kernel and read all the texts.

You should now be root and have cmw recovery, and you can flash pretty much any rom you want.
Not to familiar with teh sony's but i assume you had clockwock mod recovery?
Odin to flash, cf root to flash as kernel to allow root and get cwm, cwm to flash a custom rom as a quick guide on what to search. Generally reading around will help.

Ty for the reply guys. Really apreciate the help and am reading everything you posted.
But 1 thing: witha ll respect, stop acting like I'm using up your personal space, I opened this thread for a reason, because i dont understand sh!t, and reading wont help unless i start to read the very beginning.
When i was at the Xperia thread, i used a program called Flashtool to flash a new generic rom to my X10 mini pro. It also updated the baseband (and basebands where important when i flashed a custom ROM, you needed to have latest baseband and kernel to flash X,Y,and Z custom roms).
I just want to update to the original samsung 2.3.5 ROM with odin (as kies sucks and wont work) and the rest will be easy. Don't want CWM and root yet, just a plain stock 2.3.5 rom. I just wanted to know if i can flash THAT file (first post, long text) to my phone with ODIN.
Again, thank you very much for the support, and will continue to read everything you guys post here.
It's easy to say search for this and search for that when you know exactly what to search for. In my case, I dont even know where to begin. And i would like to finish this "job" in the next 2 hours, as after that its time to sleep :/

No offence mate but when I moved from an HTC to a Samsung based device I was a newb then to, coming from another phone to different methods to another new method I got to grips with everything just reading around.
To answer your questions, yes you can flash a stock rom using odin, all you need is to check out intratechs thread in original development section, as of now KJ3 is the latest 2.3.5 firmware, download a frankenstein version and read his thread which had a guide on what to put where.

Your original post mentioned you wanted to root it hence I gave you the easiest way of doing so is to flash cf root, searching cf root would have given you that thread plus instructions within that thread.

well i flashed that rom i pasted there and it worked. Was simple once i knew i need to put that in PDA and start it.
Yes i know about CF root and will be my next move. Thank you so much for everythingyou posted (again). And will REread every post again for extra knowledge. Need to forget everything i know about SE and learn new stuff.
guys, if I follow the rooting method (A) in Noob Guide Root thread, is it safe to flash a miui gingerbread mod roms (miui nb or miui galnet) ?
to paraphrase, is it safe to flash from a newly rooted Android 2.1 to custom rom Android 2.3 ?
Using method A, assuming I successfully flashed to Android 2.3, is the Super User still intact?
I'm just apprehensive about method A, because some rooting methods (Z4root) when transfering to another firmware can cause a lost of Super user permission.
You've already been answered in multiple threads...
+1 please don't post your question in 3 different threads. It's like that Guy on Friday who post "thanks you" (yes he posted thankS) in 10 different threads to get his post count up.
Hi
I am a new android user and want to root my Samsung galaxy S3 i9300.
I have read many post and threads on how to root SGS3 on internet but I am still not clear about the following.
• How can I find the correct ROM file for my SGS3 device? Many websites provides custom ROM and Recovery files for SGS3 but how can I verify that this once is for my device?
•ROM and Recovery files can be correupted, so what can be the most reliable and authentic source for obtaining such files e.g. google play is reliable source for android apps?
• There are many threads regarding the BEST ROM’s on internet and every one is claiming different ROM’s to be the best. I want to have such ROM which is MOST STABLE and MOST CUSTOMIZABLE, suggestions for such ROM is required..
• I have good feedback for resurrection rom for my personal contacts, any opionion about resurrection rom ??
• I have Purchased SGS3 in Pakistan, If any thing goes wrong and results on bricked s3, then how can I unbrick the same? How I can get support from Samsung ?
My phone specs are as follows
Model Number: GT-I9300
Android Version: 4.1.2
Base Band Version: I9300XXEMA5
Kernal Version:

Best rom threads are not allowed in this forum, try them yourself and work it out.
Suggest you read the basics in general forum, stickies on how to root and backup etc.
If you only read and flash from xda, i9300 forum you are unlikely to brick it -provided you read and understand the basics first.
Backup your efs folder as soon as you root.

Good Morning
how can i install JellySnap Rom 7.0 For I9100 ?
should i root my device first or install a custom recovery or something ?
Thank you
Read the thread, follow the instructions - of course you're going to need a custom recovery to flash almost all custom roms, and obviously you're going to need to root your phone to do that.
So where can i find the thread of the custom recovery and the root?
and how to install them ?
By searching like everyone else.
i searched on the forum and found some threads but i am not good in English so i cant understand but i found This and understood what it says
http://www.droidviews.com/root-and-...laxy-s2-gt-i9100-on-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean/
should i follow the thread ?
Hello guys,
I apologize in advance if this is someone already asked, but if not I would like to ask if someone could put something like a tutorial, or all links in one place, to set up a new good and stable ROM on S3 I9300. I think it would be good to set an explanation from the very beginning, such as: how to install the ROM (good and stable), how to install Karnel (good and stable), if it is required for this ROM, and explanation and tools to restore the original ROM if something is not good after installing custom ROMs. Once again, I apologize if I was wrong with asking, I'm relatively new to this forum and this could because I wanted to install a new ROM but I'm not 100% sure how to do it and which ROM to choose. I found and read a lot of information, but now I am after all this information even more confused, and I would like to do it properly.
Thank you
Am using blekota note 4 latest build on my i9300
