Scratches on case on Unboxing - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi guys,
Does anyone have 2 small scratches on top or around the screen of their device? I do, it looks like the back has been removed and then replaced again. I wonder if this is anything to do with the late release date in Europe and the replacement of faulty internals.
Cheers,
Jimmy

I have quite a few small light scratches at the top of the backplate (towards the middle). A couple of them extend to the top of the device.
Guess they did something, not overly worried by it though.

Is it wrong to want those scratches. LOL

Problems with prime casing?

I am having a problem with the prime casing.
Its kinda hard to explain so i made some pictures. What should i do?
Did you receive it that way? It is strange, especially since I don't think the charger would be nearly strong enough to bend the aluminum....sounds like an rma

Call ASUS, ask the representative for an email address to send your photos to and/or how to proceed. You souls be able to get an RMA. You could return it to the store though for a replacement or refund.
I am a bit worried about the bend because it might be stressing the glass (last thing I want) along with the discoloration (no idea what is causing it but its ugly and I don't like spending $500 on something like that.)
I could be wrong....but didn't you post this?

Looks like self inflicted? and would explain the damage.....
So Lets Review:
You dropped your prime
Noticed Damage
Maybe you can find someone that can help you bend it back so that it does not stress the glass.
Also might have been able to tie these 2 threads together.

First up, the drop was face down so it would not have discolored the back.
Second up, the drop was face down and nothing was plugged in. Thus, that wasn't what damaged it. Besides, the drop happened BEFORE (like a week) that this damage was noticed. (Im not entirely sure how this happened.)
And third up, while I showed the bent metal, I was more worried about the pressure that it might be exerting on the glass.
And finally, I am worried about why the back is discoloring which is NOT user damage.
Looks to me like something's eating away a protective coating...
Have you handled your Prime after coming in contact with rubbing alcohol or anything similar? (like Germ-X)
And you can bend the little piece of metal above the charging dock back, it's not doing anything to your screen. Mine got bent when I started my opening process right in that spot and went right back with no problem...

With my fingernail
The tablet feels sturdy and all, but aluminum is ridiculously soft and light (why it's used).
Again, mine happened when opening the tablet and so was bent the other direction, but it didn't take anything at all to shape it back.
"... and here you can see it's not bent..." much lol

Well practiced ... uhh ... fingers??? You know, from all that tapping on the screen!
it happened to me too...I didn't notice notice by the 3rd week of using it. It must be bent when charging it, or it was shipped that way....anyway, the aluminum is very soft. I probably bended by the charger's adapter.
I've also bent mine back into shape, I think the charger bent it, as it was within days of getting the thing, long before I ever dreamed of opening it. I also used my finger.

my first prime had that also I thought it was from opening and closing the dock but my new one hasn't budged even in the dock. I am now thinking that it came that way ( I noticed it 2-3 days after I got it). I now think that maybe it happens in the factory if they dock them to load the OS or do diagnostics of some sort before shipping them and the tech just isn't careful docking or undocking.

Yeah, looks that way to me as well. Man, you really did a number on this one in a short period of time, eh? Lots of scuffs and scratches on the back, bent charge port on the front....
Hard to believe it just happened on its own accord. Those are the typical scuff marks you would see on brushed metal that had been rubbed and scraped. And the scratches on the back are pretty bad as well.
I have the bent charge port as well. Looks like the HDMI port is bent up as well. The cable connections are very loose, and I'm sure this is part of the cause. I have been struggling with the HDMI port since it stopped working lately, but it very surprising how this could happen so easily.

[Q] Replace bezel?

Hi
Apologies if this has been answered before. I recently dropped my sgs2 and chipped the "metal" bezel and really want to repair this if possible. I have seen full housing replacements on eBay but they don't have the screen or digitiser included. How easy is it to replace the bezel?
Thanks
LCD+Digitizer Screen+Housing Bezel for SAMSUNG Galaxy S 2 i9100
They are not that hard to find on ebay..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samsung-G...062?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cb9ff0e4e
PS: theres also other links for the above items. how to remove and replaced has been covered here before...
The replacement housing is only £10 so thought it may be worth it to get rid of the little chip but over £100 is too much which is why I was wanting to know if its possible to remove the bezel from the screen and replace just that part

What are the chances hahaha. Maybe we should report to Samsung, we have a little research here what part of the phone gets damaged during avarage drop on the ground xD
But yeah, such a small damaged corner can bug a human pretty much. I try to avoid the lightning to fall in a certain way on the phone so it's not noticable \0/
Had my phone in my pocket, there most of been some sand or crap in there and there is a small nick the size of a grain of sand on the bezel right above the speaker. Tilt my phone back and I can see it, other than that I can forget about it.
With the insurance I have on my phone a £50 excess on a broken phone gets me a brand spanking new one

A small favour please

Just something i noticed tonight everyone. If you were on the forum a fortnight ago you would be familiar with my first problem, a screen bow. Now tonight i have noticed how around the glass and where the tapered edge meet, the height of glass above the edge can vary a few mm and in a few spots for me it will even sink a little if They never just say no, you wont have a relationship press, not much. Its the whole left side of the tab that seems fractionally higher. So if its not too much of a bother to you all could you please just try and find some spots on the tab and press them on the edge to see if it sinks or flexes the tiniest bit please let me know. Mine had a bit of a squeak to it before which i thought was the case. If this ones a dud, then i will refund and wait for the galaxy note 10.1.
Thanks,
Tablet
Qual o melhor tablet.
mine is fine..even all the way around...no sinking or raised glass.
Could it be the amount i hold it just by one side, like hold its weight and the case by the bezel. I would think everyone does that though. Because when your lying down and facing the tablet up above you the weight is been put on the bezel rather than the aluminium back.
Mine does not flex around at all.

I have decided to let it go as i have seen other touchscreen devices around the house that do it and they are pretty old. If it opens up more, then i will be dealing with Asus but i still have half a month left for the return period.

Dropped Xperia S

I know many have too but mine dropped screen first. And guess what happened. It shattered. Woops, typo, I mean I shattered with happiness because it didn't break., though I do have very ugly scratches or the white plastic right on top of the glass. I have a barely there kijj case so no scratches on the sides
Just assuring you that out phone is much more stronger than the s3
I dropped it accidentally from about 1.6 metres into bricks, SCREEN LAYING FLAT! therefore I thought my xs screen was done for.
Though I heard the bottom signal thingy is poorly built (oh yeah a few odd marks there thanks to the drop) ... Lucky mine dropped from the top first
Also have scratches on my screen protector which I'll be replacing

I'm sorry about that I know how it is
Can you provide some pics of damages? You know.. For science
that's good to hear!
I dropped my HTC a few times in clubs and it never broke down I dropped some samsung phones as well.. they all died within a week after the drop
Hopefully I won't drop my SXS
My XS dropped out of my pocket whilst I was sitting on concrete... Fell less than 10cm and I have a nasty chip in the bottom part... That bit definitely isnt well built.
However the phone did then land screen down on some loose stones and there wasnt even a scratch
Anyone know if you can replace the bottom part?

Remove the Cover Bottom with your fingers.
Scrap! Not to be reused!
but i want to know can we reuse it?

I saw that today as well and was about to ask. Can anyone clarify?
One side of mine removed easily. The other not so much. But seeing as it's advised not to reuse. I'm now wondering what to do too.

Prime doesn't fit in dock with screen protector fix?

Well I have a screen protector that isn't compatible with the dock (AmorSuit Military Guard) I have tried putting it in the dock, and it goes in, with so difficulty, but the fabric pieces inside the dock are screwed up. If I peel off these fabric strips, would me prime for in the dock without having to take off the screen protector?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda app-developers app
I had a similar problem
Carefully (And i DO mean carefully) remove the screws and pry open the dock, there are little clips that might break so you really gotta take your time and ease it open.
In the hinge assembly, under a silver sticker, there will be several screws holding the hinge assembly together
once you remove the bottom of the dock and the screws all holding it together you SHOULD be able to remove the part that holds the prime. On the FRONT bit i removed the fabric but also sanded down the plastic so it was completely flush (there is a plastic ridge that will mess up the protector otherwise)
Once you have it to your liking put it all back together. If you did it right the prime SHOULD fit nice with minimal wobble even with the "high quality" screen protectors or in my case, protectors on the front and back.
Remember, do at your own risk, YMMV, im not responsible, etc.
I just sanded down the fabric in the dock a bit

had this problem right three days ago. after applying a new screen protector (which covers the whole part of the screen, while the previous one not), it was very difficult to insert the prime in the dock. as i saw that the fabric strips were screwed up, i removed them with tweezers, but under them there was some glue which made again difficult to insert and remove the dock. so i spent my sunday morning in removing this glue with tweezers, water and my fingers (without opening the dock, in fact it was very difficult to do so, also because water on the pin is not such a good thing) and now there are no problems in inserting the dock, and no glue rests on my screen protector

Do you still have a snug fit after removing the fabric strips? I'm having the same problem (see thread I started a week or so ago), bit worry about the fit not being snug enough and having something in the dock connector (or, worse, the charging connector) get screwed up from the "wobble factor".

I decided to just f-it and took the strip off myself. Seems to fit snugly enough...just have to see if there's any long-term issues as a result.

No more snugs, i 'washed' it very carefully. I used those things you use to wash your ears (i don't know how you call them in english ahah). They and hot water, paying attention, did their job. I actually have no problems with how the dock fit the tablet, i can insert and put it out without problems.

The only problem i found was the tiny ridge around where the fabric used to be ended up messing up my screen protector after a while, that's why i suggest filing it down.
And i call em Q-Tips, i know its a brand name like Kleenex, not sure what the generic name is... Ha! native English speaker and i don't even know the name for them, who knew?

I don't know. But in the end, the screen protector is so thin that i wouldn't think so. But it would be better to always have the screen protector on the whole screen, in our case.
