[Q] How to close lid but stay on? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I'm testing out the (MX) video player and HDMI right now. Now everything seems perfect, except if I want to play something on my TV off my Prime via HDMI and I close the lip it will turn off.
Now the easy answer is just don't close it, but I'm wondering if there is somewhere in the setting that I'm missing that will keep it playing when I close the lid.

[Q]80 G9 Issues?

So, I just got this and I really want to like it, but I'm having issues.
[Constant]Playing music the background constantly cuts out when you do anything else in the foreground. Both Google Music and Amazon do it. I'm streaming, but I can see that the song has been downloaded. This is my number 1 issue.
[Intermittent]Sometimes the touches don't register on the screen. It's like there is a dead spot. I can touch elsewhere and back and it works fine again. Tried screen recalibration, same issue.
[Intermittent]The GPS doesn't shut off after apps get location. Eventually this kill the battery, but I can just turn it off.
[Random]Micro freezes like I have never seen on any android device. It's like the whole thing freezes. I'm not sure if this is related to the CPU firing up the other core (may be issue with #1)
I am lucky not to have the screen issue, and I'm familiar with the input lag issue (Transformer has it too). There is a lot to like about this tablet, but the music thing a deal breaker. Do I have a lemon, or is this normal?
Things I love:
2 USB Host Ports!
4x3 screen for browsing (not so great for some games and video)
FAST Harware acceleration
Remote is nice to use a player (I bought these. http://www.staples.com/Cyber-Acoustics-Portable-Speakers/product_860830 Needed a small adapter to access the USB port, but it works awesome!)
Sharp screen
More to come
Netflix issue
After Archos fixed the Sleep of Death issue, my ONLY issue is that sometimes when watching Netflix for awhile, the tablet crashes and reboots. Doesn't seem to do that doing anything else, including watching movies off the internal drive.
Thanks for the info.
I did a fully recovery and it's better. I played with the browser for about 5 minutes and only had one minor hickup with the built in player running in the background. Also, the browser was smoother.
I was messing around with Google Music and it hiccuped several times while scrolling around the song list, but nothing like it did this morning. I got another dead spot too. Tap away, tap back and it worked again. Weird stuff.
I picked it up cheap and I really like it, but if it reverts to the former issues, I have to send it back or try to warranty it.

Update
I reinstalled a bunch of stuff and it's happening again. It's not as bad as it was, but it may be due to that I haven't installed as much. It may be related to memory, because it seems worse when more is running. I sent an e-mail to Archos. Let's see what they say.
I have problems when using the wifi as well...
I have minidlna Debian server at home and all the movies that i watch over wifi have problems. If i copy them via ftp to the tablet there is no problem at all... they play perfect even most demanding HD ones (fullhd 1080p)
One problem that was most frequent was that if i put my Tp-Link 740 (150mbps LiteN) router in 802.11n mode the wifi drops often and reboots my router. In 54mbps G-only mode the link is more stable, the router does not reboot and the link does not drop, but the video streaming across wifi is bad. Ftp transfers work very good (3~3,5 MB/s with AndFtp).
The router works perfect in N-mode with my laptop and SGS II, even FullHD streaming to phone, no problem.

[Q] Hdmi settings

hey guys.. can you help me? why is it that if i connect my 80 g9 to the tv thru mini hdmi, it is not in full screen on the tv? any settings that i should change? thanks!
Because the g9 80 screen is 4:3 and your tv is 16:9, but when you open a video you should be able to watch it in 16:9 (1280x720 or 1920x1080)
havent tried the stock video player again because when i tried it earlier, its only black screen. but when i tried moboplayer, selected the 16:9 ratio, its still the same, not in full screen

Does your TV/monitor have any settings for HDMI? If output signal is in lower resolution it may be not upscalled to TV/monitor native
no it doesnt have settings for hdmi. all i can select is from what source and thats it.but when i plug my laptop thru hdmi cable, its in fullscreen
Tablet may not recognize what is the native LCD resolution or it may not support it (and uses highest available)
on my older Insignia hd tv, I adjust TV settings depending on source on my G9, some need no adjustment like Netflix but others like Ustream live streaming I adjust aspect ratio, mine has Normal, Zoom, Wide, Cinema.
some tvs adjust automatically and older tvs may not give a lot of choices. if you can, test on another tv
when you plug in your tablet, does it mirror desktop fully on tv or are there gaps? or is it just media/ videos?
this is one thing i didnt think about before i bought the tablet!!!
so am i stuck with the 4:3 view? i have actually put the tablet in the drawer and listed it for sale because too be honest i simply have no use for a tablet and the 4:3 aspect ratio on my tv is the final nail in the archos coffin.
i did though buy it for media player duties and to take over from my nas as a torrent downloader. now the media player plays back my movies as they are in widescreen however everything else in gui is boxed up on the screen. this obviously makes it a real no no for media duties. even youtube videos retain the 4:3 boxy shape.
really silly of me. i dont know why i didnt think of it before but let my lesson be a lesson learned for someone else.
basically if you want to use the tablet on your tv then videos once playing will be ok but everything else and i mean everything is in the 4:3 format.
yes i could zoom in on the tv but then one loses quite a bit of the tablet screen real esate so it isnt really a soliution.
all very annoying and i am seriously kicking myself for being so daft. thing is i think 4:3 in a screen this small makes sense but i just didnt think about the way it would mirror the image on the tv
so heed this lesson would be buyers and think long and hard about what you intend to do with the tab. if you are buying it just because you want a tab then you should mostly be ok but if you fancy using it hooked up to your tv look elsewhere and buy something that is in the widescreen format.
unless unless unless i am missing something obvious???
EDIT: OK saved by my tv. it has a setting called smart which more or less puts the archos image in full widescreen with a little stretching and a bit cropped out from the bottom and top. it is better than say the zoom function which actually crops loads of the display.
it isnt the best solution but for now it will do... i actually have more serious worries like a real flaky wifi connection (even though my network is rock solid) the tablet randomly rebooting and constant freezes when watching a video. thing is one starts wondering if it is the hardware or just badly written firmware that is to blame and there is no way to really be able to tell.

HDMI plugged into TV - Your able to use TV's remote as direction pad!

I was using my phone as a nexflix player on my Insignia 46" LCD and was playing around with the tv's remote's directional pad and saw the selection box on the tv moving....at first I thought it was a fluke but it worked and was able to use the ok button to select and the back button to of course go back! Try it out and let me know if it work for you! If I had another phone around I would take a video of it working.
And also the play, FF, FW, skip back and forward works as it should as well....like hitting the play button it will bring up what ever default music player you have selected and starts playing! Or will control what ever app you have open like netflix.
Just thought I would share this fun little fact, it might not work with all TV's
I'm running the latest CM9 nightly.
Enjoy!:good:

Need Help w/ Mystery Video Screening

I've got a peculiar issue I need some help with. My son often uses my tablet to watch movies or play games on my tablet. The issue is recently he's been doing something that projects/streams whatever you want to call it, it displays what's on the tablet on the downstairs television. We've never had this issue before, but then again the TV is new, it's a Panasonic Viera. Great TV with a lot of options, in fact it's connected to my local network.
My guess is there's some app on the Transformer that's interacting with an feature on the Panasonic. It is very cool feature, like Apple mirroring, however I don't know what my son is doing to activate it. He just randomly turns it on and I'll be downstairs watching TV and the screen will change. That's another really odd symptom, the TV input isn't changed, it's still on HDMI running cable TV, so whatever he's doing is overriding the TV. I check the tablet and there's no open app, like he's turning it off and on because the TV only does the mirroring for a few seconds. Another guess is that the app opens, then he tries to close it which is why I just see a couple seconds on TV.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is there any other info I can provide to help diagnose? I've got too many apps to list.
Android Version 4.1.1
It may be interacting with your TV's Viera link which acts like Chromecast. You could turn off the Viera link when not needed to prevent this from happening when you don't want it to.

So any idea what app or process is doing this on my Transformer?

navigating with a controller and not screen

I would essentially like to buy an mhl cable and hook an old phone to the tv and use it as a media box. I would like to be able to sit on the bed and control everything. at minimum i'd like to be able to watch movies but I would also love to be able to do all the normal things i can do.
I've seen plenty of mouse and keyboard setups for android, but never a controller setup where they can navigate through everything.
It would be really cool to be able to usehttp://www.androidauthority.com/mad-catz-surfr-lynx3-controllers-mwc-2015-590340/ the one with the keyboard then I could actually type simple things with it if i wanted to watch youtube on the tv or something.
I guess I'm just asking is it possible to be able to leave the phone next to the tv and use the controller for all my input? does it put a mouse on screen that i can move with the control sticks/ d pad or does it do something else?? or does this option not even exist lol
