Connection to PC doesn't work - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have big problem with my phone. First, it is not problem with MTP driver! My computer dont recognize connected phone. When I connect phone to PC, phone start recharging and Initializing MTP, but PC doesnt do *TDN* sound. When I connect flash disk trough USB OTG to my phone - it work. Other Samsung connect to my PC works good. I can't connect phone in "USB mass storage" - doesn't work. So I think, it is software problem in phone.
I tried:
Instaling a lot of roms (only in CWM recovery), pull up battery for a few minutes, format memories, restore my efs file ( I had copy efs file), manualy instal kernel, tried USB debugging ON/OFF, instal manualy MTP driver, uninstal/instal kies
Sorry for my english, isn't good

Reads like you do not have Kies installed and no USB drivers for the phone .
If that does not work clean USB port only connect to a mainboard USB port .
Fails = service centre .
Restore to stock first and reset custom rom counter or it will be no longer under warranty .

try with other pc to make sure is your phone problem..
or try samsung kies air if you using a laptop..
i install kies and get all the driver to enable me connect usb storage

First of all you MUST have samsung Kies just for the drivers of your phone.
Try install kies...

No need to install the complete package if you only need to use the phone as a mass storage device here is the link to download drivers directly

I'd question that this is a "direct" link. I've tried clicking just about every link on the page and all I can get it to download is some other bloatware/adware. There doesn't seem to be a working link to the Samsung USB driver on this page

Use the thread of SamHaLeKe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
It provides a link to an USB driver installer (brown 'Download' text).

download mode -> unknown device

Hello everyone,
I've searched for a solution over the forum but I didn't find any solution..
So my problem is that I can't use Odin because windows doesn't recognize my phone on Download mode.
I have the drivers installed, Kies and windows recognize my GS2 without problems.
I've tried with different cable, different USB port, uninstall/reinstall drivers many times, from Kies or from samsung web site.
I just have no idea why in download mode windows doesn't use the installed drivers..
Help?
Thanks!
Did you try in a different PC?
I am sure driver is the only cause. Perhaps you can try following. Install Kies, then connect phone once and check if Kies detects your phone
Which version of Windows are you using? I am using Windows 7 and its working fine. I did root yesterday and Windows detected drivers and also it had to download from net for some reason. In the end it did work
USB cable to main board connection .
Reboot phone turn USB debugging off .
Set USB to Mass storage mode .
Connect cable and let Windows find USB drivers .

Did you terminate every Kies process before opening Odin?
Hello,
Thanks for the answers.
I'm running on windows 7 64. But it didn't try on another pc.
Windows does install drivers and recognize my phone in USB to Mass storage mode.
But still not recognize it in download mode and yes I've terminated every Kies process.
I know that in Download mode windows install some new/different (?) drivers. When I'm on download mode, windows fails to install driver as it's an "unknown device". Is there a way to install those drivers manually?
Hello,
Un-install Kies, reboot system, reinstall kies.
Still not work. After reboot and reinstalling Kies my phone was recognized, but in download mode there is still nothing.
If windows has USB drivers then download mode works .
Is USB debugging turned off .
Reboot phone
Enter download mode follow instructions on download mode screen .
Open Odin select files to flash
Connect Samsung USB cable to mainboard port .
Hit start on Odin .
jje
USB debugging is off.
But as windows don't recognize the device, Odin can't detect it in download mode.
It's really weird

Ok, I manage to get this working.
I did this:
-I have unplugged all the USB on my motherboard, I've uninstalled all the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" (to acces type devmgmt.msc in windows start menu)
-Turn off the PC and unplugged the power supply. Waiting like 3 minutes.
-Replug the power supply and boot.
-Replug all my USB, windows reinstalling everything.
-Plug my phone in download mode and windows finally installed the drivers and Odin detect it !
So if someone have a unknown device issue with a code 43, please try this.
Thanks for your time and answers.
Disabling the "unknown device" and then disconnecting and reconnecting my phone worked for me.
Run Kies as Administrator, Install Drivers
This is what worked for me. Kies said the Drivers were installed without Administrator but nothing worked

[Q] Any way to make the i9100 detected (usb)

Hi,
I have a 9100 that I try to make windows 7 x64 detect. I tried with the drivers and even with kies but the phone is simply not detected as if it was not connected with the usb cable. I played with debug on/off, and mount button but nothing worked.
I can charge the battery with the usb cable but cant xfer files, its only charging the pone, nothing else.
Any idea of what could be the problem ?
Install usb drivers via kies.

tried that, when it's in normal mode it gets reconised but as soon as i put it in download mode / flash mode, it says device unknown
Connect phone to KIES let KIES find phone .
Turn off phone and PC
Reboot and put phone in USB mass storage mode and connect with USB cable let PC find and install drivers .
Flashing turn KIES OFF
Open ODIN load required file in correct section
Put phone to download mode and read the instructions on the first download window .
Connect Samsung USB cable to a mainboard USB port .
You should now have yellow block showing in ODIN .

[Q] GS3 not getting connected to the pc (xp)

Hello everyone
well... first of all i am not new to android , i have tried all the tricks in the book to get my galaxy s 3 connected to my pc , in mass storage mode.. but all my efforts have resulted in failures . i can use the usb teetering but surprisingly i can not get it to mass storage mode..
1)i have installed the required drivers
2)i have also installed kies ( it keeps saying connecting forever)
3) i wipe the cache in recovery and tried but still no luck
4) rebooted the pc many times but no use
5)the usb debugging is unticked
next i m going to root my device and then use a 3rd party sd mount app, but is there any other option you people could suggest me to try ???
Turn off USB Debugging .
Turn off phone .
Install latest Kies .
Reboot computer .
Power on phone and connect using Samsung USB cable to a main board USB port ..
Let windows find the USB drivers .
Then start KIES .
Other choice is to remove all USB drivers from the port you are using .

from everything i have read so far about the phone the S3 doesnt support usb mass storage mode out of the box. but there is an app that you can download from the themes and app section that will let you connect your phone to the pc in mass storage mode.

thanks for your reply friend,
but after researching a lot i found a few solutions...
here is one
install kies, and after installing kies also install this exe (Microsoft_User-Mode_Driver_Framework_Install-v1.0-WinXP)
this solution helped many people connect their devices.. but i still couldnt connect it
then finally i had to use my friends laptop with win 7 .. and it was connected
I am guessing you run quite an old version of XP... on my friends pc, the phone was recognised but I couldn't transfer files,
Mpf mode isn't supported on old xp versions, you gotta get yourself the driver
