Auto-flash in xperia ray - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

hello to all
I am disgusted with my xperia ray because it has not automatic flash and tried to find a solution.
With this library of an xperia arc options are enabled: auto, red eye, fill flash and off, but the flash does not work.
Any ideas?
the route is "/system/lib"
Sorry for my bad English

dude mo matter what you do it will not flash because Xperia Ray camera hardware don't have a Flash, its only a Photo Light. The closest thing for a Ray to have its camera Flash a light is to use a Strobe app, other than that it will only light up because it has only a Photo LED light.

Then the xperia ray will not have automatic flash in future updates?

To think about it, yeah it's funny that Ray does not have flash led. But as far as i can tell, i haven't used the flash all this time and i still like the quality of low light capture photo. the ExMor does good manner for this phone. Only thing that is usable about the flash is to run a torch app so i can walk in the dark night..
Well, would be nice if somebody can hack this and generate a flash working module. But i won't count on it too much..

Xperia ray LED diode: no auto flash
Xperia mini LED diode: auto flash

Where is the problem?

Using stock based rom and the app Vignette (there´s a demo in android market) my ray does have flashlight. Yep, may be it´s just an automatic photolight on/off but it works.

SE interesting discussion camera, light sensor, flash:
http://talk.sonyericsson.com/thread/30937?tstart=0

What are you guys taking about?
That photo light is as good as camera flash.. it's infact better than flash bcoz it doesn't cause people to blink eyes with sudden brightness of a flash light... I am quite satisfied with it. .

Ha2 +1 mate, but if we're on the dark place, and they have to look at the camera I don't think they will like it.
It's nice that vignette have auto flash, but AFAIK, the quality of output is not that good compared to stock app.

I can confirm that the quality of photo is the same as the arc s, my brother owns one but it beats the hell out of the ray with auto flash.
Can somebody confirm that it is a hardware or software issue and point to a source.

Yes it works but is not syncronized with the autofocus and it only turns on the led on and off fast is not a Real flash light i'm sure there is a way to simulate the real flash light editing some rows in the camera App.apk config file if some genius in here has some time can try that and give us a feedback.

thank you very much for your answers!
I tried vignette and I like their performance, even a simulated flash
you know if someone is working on this?

I placed Xperia Arc camera application in my Ray, it was like a copy of my Ray camera app and it was showing photo light instead of flash light...
So what could be the reason?

I am posting camera app from .243 latest Xperia arc Rom... UI looks the same but feels more snappy compared to Xperia Ray...
You can install apk directly...

Hello everyone I am also investigating how to put in automatic fash, it is true that the application of the arc chamber that is jjdoctor posting much faster, but it just showing the photo light only, I think it has to be something related to the libraries for the camera, which are "/ system / lib" if someone had an arc of libraries could try to replace them and see what happens.
These libraries would be:
Libcald_pal.so
Libcamera.so
Libcamera_client.so
Libcameralight.so
libcameraservice.so
libcameraextensionjni.so
libcameraextensionclient.so
Remember to be an arc
thanks

with SemcCameraUI.apk of the arc and this libraries of the arc does not work
libcameralight.so
libcamera.so
libcald_pal.so

Well may be then, as the operation of the LEDs are the same and you do not have an extra hard, it is probably something that has to do with the software, jorgespv are you spanish no???

I know how to change icons of that photo light to flash light as it's embedded in framework-res.apk file... But that won't change the function..
Need to figure out the libs related to camera... I will give it a go in spare time...

[Q] Proper Camera Flash?

Is it possible to get a proper "Flashing" LED when taking a picture (I've seen the HTC Desire does this), instead of this very poor "Photo Light" option that's been on this device since Android 1.6?
I've seen little info on this subject, all I remember was reading about it back when it was on 1.6. Back then I recall some mentioning that it was an OS limitation, so should be working and fixed when we received the 2.1 update.
But since we're now well in to a long list of 2.1 updates and yet to hear about why there is no proper camera flashing, I thought I would ask it here, in hopes some one could shed some light on this (no pun intended).

I believe since Vignette app does it, it's doable. Probably someone will have to heavily modify the camera apk though.

Well as you could see on my picture above your post, the place where the flash button should be, is blank.
But figured out why it wouldn't give me the option.
Because I am using EW Jet where Eric has set the product device & product model to X10x. So edited those values to say X10i and now it's working.
Don't know why he chose to call it X10x, as there is probably more apps and tools that needs a correct value to function properly.
But back to the initial question, it still doesn't flash it only activates the light.
I was on Froyo, when I'm on stock firmware I use stock camera app. It works great, altough flash isn't automatic...

It used to work much like a real flash in older versions, as I said earlier, so you could either use one of these, or maybe contact the developers and ask them to sort it out.

[APP][ICS][JB]Sony Walkman Music Player

Hello there
As many of you know along with the ICS update on xperia 2012 line, Sony introduced their new Walkman music player which let's face it looks too good. So here is my port of the famous Walkman(build 5.1.A.0.9) for Xperia X8 and other armv6 devices(qvga devices will probably have visual bugs so use it at your own risk)
Requirements:
An armv6 device
Android 4.0 ICS/4.1+JB(JB recomended)
15mb free space(at least)
If you don't have much ram(aka all x8 users) I suggest swap(optional but highly advised)
How to install
- Download my zip from HERE
- Put it on your sd card and install through CWM/TWRP
- Enjoy

There are more files associated with this like SoundEnhancements.apk, audioeffectservice.apk, SEMCmetadata.apk and more..
I can say because I am running the music players ported from Xperia S on my Mini Pro. I'll try to make a list of the files soon.
Btw, I don't think that the album art is related with any external file.

I just installed this...This is my observations so far:
-It really doesn't show the album art, BUT when on lock screen, it does show it.But if you have pattern lock screen, the album art is shown behind the pattern screen, which means that most of the screen is black with the pattern dots only shown and there's a strip of the art on the top of the screen.
-It works pretty damn good and fast, it has all controls on notification drawer(previous track, play/pause and next track), it also shows them on the lock screen AND you can change songs with the volume button when screen is off.
-If you know how to do stuff on your phone with root explorer, (and judging on the fact that you have an ICS rom on your phone you pretty much do), you can download the .tar file, extract it in a file on your pc, transfer this file to your sd card, and then move the contents as followed:
-SemcMusic.apk and SoundEnhancement.apk on /system/app (change permissions to match the rest of the apps there) and then press install.
-audio_effects.conf on /system/etc (just set permissions to match the rest)
-soundfx folder on /system/lib
Why do this?Because then the sound is amazing, that's why!
ps.While trying to install SoundEnhancement.apk it said that it didn't manage to install it, but the music app still works like a charm

As far as i know..
Themes, appearance does not have anything to do with camera thumbnail
Isn't it?
Did anyone noticed increase in picture clarity with 5MP rather than on 3MP?
It only changes Resolution, correct me if i am wrong.
Let me bump this thread: did anyone find a solution?
Let me summarize everything: I updated to ICS last week (yeah, I waited a lot ) and I found out that when I take photos at 5 MP and then try to view them on my Windows PC the pictures' thumbnails are all screwed up. Here's how they look:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/102087639/1111.JPG
When I watch the pictures on the phone, however, there's no problem at all. Also, when I upload my pictures on dropbox, I can normally see the thumbnails. It's just a Windows problem. How could I solve this?
Is there some modded capera.apk I could use?
Thanks in advance

So I'm having dim video call experience in low light condition
I tried my friend Z2, and the result is the same
this is an example to make it clear as possible by comparing it to my Xperia T which is on the right in the photo below in the attachment.. both two phones brightness is set to maximum
but after shooting a photo.. it's nice and not dim at all!
I think it needs something like night mode.. because it's faster than Xperia T but dimmer..
any solution please?

CameraW [Xperia SmallApp]
this app will capture the view without any compression and modification by effects
SO you will understand better if you have faulty device (cam lens) or just software issue.
