Ext3 microsd - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi
I formated my microsd card as ext3, i urgently need to copy >4gb files. I even managed to convince my win7 to rw the card. Now I try to mount the card in my prime. No luck. That`s strange, I thought prime uses ext filesystem natively. Does anyone tried to cope with similar problem? I looked through the forum, and all posts are indirectly saying thats prime should mount ext3.

The prime uses ext4, but for some reason it wont automatically mount ext4 (and probably ext3) drives.
If you're rooted, there are apps in the market that will allow you to mount your card, otherwise I've just been using fuse-exfat

Did you try formatting it from the phone?
Also, is it definitely genuine?
Format from the phone storage menu usually sorts it out.

Does the S III supporte SDXC (exFat) file system?
Try formating it to Fat32 or NTFS, should do the trick...

SANDISK 64gb micro SDXC are preformated in: ExFAT.
So I managed to REFORMAT in : FAT32 Only
And now it is working.
But....
I have previously mounted the 64gb Micro SDXC in my STOCK and UNROOTED ROM right after the unboxing, and it worked fine.
So the problem must be the ROOTED roms.

Yes it is GENUINE,
and
NO It DOESN´T revolve the problem formatting from the phone...
I had to reformat from PC in FAT32, phone formatting does it in ExFAT....
The problem must be from ROOTED roms, they DONT support ExFAT

If you were on a custom ROM, that was more than likely your problem. There are no issues with SanDisk 64 GB MicroSDs formatted in either ExFAT or FAT32, when used in a SGS III with a stock ROM.
Root does not affect exfat hiwever not every kernel has the exfat module included so if you installed for example cm9 your exfat partition would no longer work because cm9 doesnt support exfat. Further more the install process also breaks the formatting of the card so it will then no longer work in anything at all and you have to bang it into a computer and run chkdsk /f on it to sort it.

Not able to mount an 64gb microsdxc on S3
I have tried to mount the micro sdxc as I took it out from the box and the phone does not recognize it. I tried to format it again on computer as exFat but still no result . I tried to format it on computer as NTFS still no result. when inserted in phone i tried to mount it and nothing happens . Any idea how to make it work ? Previous I had an 16 gb micro sdhc which worked perfect . Thx.
Finnaly I solve the problem . I put the microsd in an galaxy S1 and I was able to formate it there. It showed immediately 59.4 gb. When i put it back in S3 it showed the same . Good luck if you encounter the same problem.

Ntfs or Exfat ?

Hello, new micro sd card 32gb class 10 i think
What is the best file system to format it?
Thanks!
I' a noob so weight my words but I went with NTFS and everythibg is still ok.
*except my typing
Format it with the original file system of the sdcard, so you surely won't have problems, but if you're using the CustomRom Cyanogenmod it won't work with exFat, cause CM doesn't support it because of licences!
Use the phone to format the card and you should be fine. If you want to select the file system yourself, FAT32 works on 32GB cards and is the most likely to work well.
Fat32 is best for compatibility. ExFat is best for performance

Fat32 has a file size limit of 2^32 bytes (hence the name Fat32) which equivalents 4GB
If you have files (movies, ...) which are larger you need to use another filesystem.
Exfat support is very bad on linux and thus can lead to undesired results including data loss. Go with EXT4 (optimal choice) or NTFS but note that you will not be able to use a cardreader when choosing ext.

[Q] Use other file system on sdcard ans extSdcard

Hi everyone,
I lose my extSdcard fat32 partition for the 3rd times... Fat32 is a very very bad FS, especialy for partitions with lot of files.
Kernels support ext* file systems, it would be possible to use ext4 insterad of fat32 on sdcard and extSdcard. Can you confirm ?
What is the best way to do this ? Does MTP still working ? Will some fonctionnality be disabled after that ?
Thanks
You can format the extSdCard to whatever you want provided the kernel supports it. Don't touch the internal sdcard because it uses FUSE to sit the FAT partition of /sdcard (actually /data/media) within the EXT4 formatting of /data so it's best not to touch that.
Obviously though FAT32, is the most compatible for /extSdCard
EXT4 wont MTP on windows. exFAT wont MTP on Linux...
Personally I stick with FAT32 because I need to connect to everything

Don't you have trouble with fat32 ?
Do you use tools to maintain it clean like scandisk or defrag on windows ?
I've not had any issues so far. I don't do anything special to it
I don't really connect to computers often. I use file managers to connect to smb /sftp for moving files ever since when it was EXFAT

SD CARD PROBLEM (SD card keeps unmounting and mounting)

Hello everyone I have been using One Plus X updated to 2.2.1 since a week now and purchased 32GB sandisk ultra formated NTFS with it.
Here's something weird on my opx, my SD card keeps sporadically unmounting and mounting again with the annoying message "SD card removed unexpectedly".
The card is where it's supposed to be (checked) and most of the times this happens there phone is completely stationary.
Now, apart from the fears that this will destroy my card, how can i fix this? Any help is appreciated in helping me to solve the issue.
Thank you in advance.

Format it vfat if you need windows compatibility, or just ext4 otherwise and see if the problem persists
Go to twrp to change file system if windows cannot. It should work. I have many sdcards and bigger capacity than yours. So far ok. I use ext4
Also if you're using a custom kernel, check how the NTFS support is in its respective thread.
Nonetheless, vfat and ext2-4 are definitely compatible with Android, so if your SDcard still acts weird then its probably the card itself might be faulty.
