I have been trying to compile from source for Nexus S (crespo) on an Ubuntu 10.04 machine, following the guide from the Android Open Source Project, and I'm having lots of errors even though in the end I get my otapackage.zip file. Searching the web I've found out that this might be caused by extracting those proprietary drivers like it is said in the AOSP guide.
Can anybody tell me how should I get those drivers extracted/installed/whatever corectly? Many thanks!

I've been wanting to start building from source so I could actually try to contribute some development time to a rom.
I've seen some of the build from source threads and even tried to use the wiki from one ROM's page. but the latest version of Ubuntu doesn't want to even get the Android SDK installed let alone get the latest code. So I was thinking that I would try to get this up and running on one of my windows boxes and was wondering if anyone else is building from a Windows machine.
If so is there a good resource or tutorial for getting started.
Hello, i'm trying to compile kernel for Nexus 4 on debian 7,
i've downloaded ndk with toolchains, sources from android site, and followed many guides to compile kernel, but after make command, i can't find anywhere the zImage file, it should be in arch/arm/boot/ but it isn't there, no errors during compiling.
I've already compiled kernel for linux, and this seems strange :/
can anybody help me please?
thanks in advance
I am needing to make a kernel for a certain device. There aren't any source codes available for that device but there are for multiple clones out there. I am running Linux Mint Debian edition and i cant find a guide for compiling a kernel on debian. If someone could please guide me to one I would be most glad!

This is the main and most active Guide for Kernel compiling out here:

Even if its specified for Ubuntu, it technically should work on any Linux variants.
Hi guys.
I'm trying to port Clockwork mod to my device, but all the tutorials i've seen online uses cyanogen source that is already configured for their devices and just compiles it, which isn't porting per se.
I'm having trouble syncing the Cyanogen source, not sure what i'm doing wrong.
I have the android source and sdk tools on ubuntu 14.04.
Hi. I am having xiaomi redmi note 3(kenzo). I know a bit of java and c languages. I want to build android rom from scratch for kenzo. Not from the cyanogenmod, but from the google's source code. I need help finding proprietary binaries and tools required. I have installed ubuntu on vmware workstation 12 and done everything stated in "Downloading Source" section of source.android.com page. I need help in finding proprietary binaries and a little bit of assistance in making the rom bootable. I am no way building the rom from cyanogenmod sources, because i know i will end up building a nightlie of cm at max. please help. Thank you.
