After installing Honeycomb on my Flyer (Best Buy version), the "Weather Clock" widget can't find my current location. It says "No weather data available". This was not a problem prior to the Honeycomb upgrade. Launching the full screen "Weather" app does the same. I can't add my location explicitly, because only a few of the largest cities in Arizona are in the search list.
Location settings have all the boxes checked. GPS seems to work OK, and the Map and Navigation programs know where I'm at. WiFi seems to work OK for everything. Using Internet, the mobile accuweather site uses my location OK. Internet settings has "Enable location" checked.
Things I've tried: I dragged the Weather Clock widget to "Edit" and selected "Current Location". I deleted the widget and added it again choosing "Current Location". In the application manager, I stopped anything running that appeared to be affiliated with weather and cleared the data. I did a "Restart" (i.e. close all apps and restart tablet).
By the way, my cell phone (HTC Incredible) shows the weather OK, so I know that the weather service does provide content for my location (it's not some weather server problem).
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how do I get the weather widget working again like it was in Gingerbread?
Never seen that reported here as far as I know. my HC widget works fine.
Suggestions:
Go to the settings/applications and clear data and cache for the HTC weather sync app
If you are rooted, get into recovery and clear the Dalvik cache and reboot.
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I did a "Clear Data" on all the running weather related stuff:
HTC weather sync provider
Weather
Weather Agent Service
Weather Provider
Weather Widget
The "Clear cache" button was grayed out on all (and showed 0.00B).
The only result is that the city list was blanked out and I had to re-enter any other cities I chose to have on the watchlist. It still doesn't use my current location.
No, I'm not rooted and I'm enough of a noob to hesitate doing so.
Try clear data on the HTC weather sync app
You could do a full factory data reset in Settings>Privacy. You will lose data so first try reinstalling Honeycomb.
Thanks for the suggestions. Cleared the data on the HTC weather sync app and no better.
I took the hard road of a factory reset. (I first backed up all my downloaded apps to the sd card with Astro, so re-installing them was easy). I was actually surprised that it re-installed Honeycomb (I thought it would go all the way back to the original 2.whatever). So it wasn't too painful.
Weather is now sunny in my location.
Thanks to all.

I updated to build 435 yesterday. Since then, the default calendar app crashes. Have tried rebooting.
I sync my calendar with outlook through google. There are some semi-advanced entries there, ie meetings with replies. However, problem persists when I disable that calendar from my outlook.
Calendar data is accessible for my agenda widget. Data shown on the widget is even updated when I add data to my google calendar.
Any clues on how to solve this?
Reinstall everything what is named Calendar
Cheers
I reinstalled CalendarProvider.apk and SemcCalendarLargeui.apk. Still doesn't work.
Immediately after installing SemcCalendarLargeui.apk, I clicked "open". This caused the same error.
Any further suggestions? Please?
Go to Applications, Manage applications. Select calendar, and clear cache. Worked for me.
Thanks!
I had to uninstall the apps proposed from the previous poster, then opening the applications menu to allow for display of all apps (not only 3rd party). Then I was able to clear the cache.

I am also facing the same problem, however I do not see the calendar application under Applications>Manage Applications !
Could you please elaborate further how you fixed your problem...for me the phone is pretty useless without a calendar !

Thank you ! Worked like a charm.
However I noticed one problem .. I use three seperate calendars in google calendars color coded red, blue & yellow. After the update to the calendar application all three show as red . Previously all 3 calendars showed up with their respective separate colors
Did any one else notice or face this ?
Hi,
I have learnt that calendar crashes can be solved by clearing the calendar app's cache.
New problems:
I have loaded 5 different calendars from my Gmail. How come all of them are represented by pink colour? I'd like different colours for each calendar, as in Gmail and as the old calendar app allowed. Can't find any menu for this setting.
The phone no longer displays all entries from the Gmail calendars. All my calendar is there, as some upcoming entries are shown. I can't figure out why other upcoming entries are left out.
I hope someone can help.
I have the same issue. (About pink color)
My post (posted in the kxROM thread hoping kx knew something).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11212576#post11212576
I'm not entirely sure if it's the SE layer ontop of the stock apps, but obviously *searching* like everyone says isn't the case - I've tried and nothing has come up working.
I having the same problem also.
But it works when I clear data on calendar.
You may wanna try this, but I stop auto sync first in case anything happened.
Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Application>, press Menu button, select Filter, select All.
After all applications shown, select Calendar and clear data, then Calendar Storage and clear data.
After clearing both data, then launch Calendar. I done these and the calendar can be launched. Then I turn on auto snyc again.
Same calendar problem, unable to fix it until now
I have the same problem.
After upgrading to .435 firmware, all my calendars (5 of them) turn up pink.
I have a smooth calendar widget that shows the correct colors. But somehow the calendar app itself does not read those colors.
I've tried to erase the data from both calendar and calendar storage.
Doesn't work.
I use my phone for business. This app is a must have!
Anybody please?
I've tried the clear data procedure as well, and no luck.
(Turned off auto-sync, forced-closed both, cleared data, rebooted).
I've also tried to replace it with a stock version, I just googled Android 2.1 stock calendar.apk. I know I'm most definitely missing something here, so someone that knows what they're doing fix my mistake. (if its possible)
I tried replacing the CalendarProvider.apk and added Calendar.apk (I also tested renaming Calendar.apk to SemcCalendarLargeui.apk to replace default).
So still looking for a fix to this disaster of a calendar application.
Edit: @Jaydee-S - so if the widget shows the right color, maybe we can isolate the problem to SemcCalendarLargeui.apk, which is just putting Pink for all the calendars and no options to change them. - Devs help us out please
I just downloaded Business Calendar Beta from the market.
Works perfectly and is a good alternative to the SE calendar.
But the questions remain: Why doesn't the SE calendar work and why doesn't everybody experience the same?
Actually that app you posted blows the stock one out of the water in my opinion. Good find.
Now i can delete SemcCalendarLargeui.apk no need to even see it.
omg, I deleted SemcCalendarLargeui.apk by mistake....can someone please upload the apk for me.
Has a solution been found to display the correct calendar colors in the stock calendar app, instead of the default pink that came with upgrading to .435?
Sorry dude, I have the same problem and have searched everywhere, without any luck.
My solution is business calendar app on the 435 rom.
Right now I'm using Trip's MIUI rom: try it out, it is blazing fast and works very well. Use it as my daily rom now. Last but not least: here the calendar works
It seems like I have to manually sync both gmail and calendars. Is any one else experiencing this?
Running latest update with launcher pro and rooted
i had the same problem, but dont quite remember solution, had to enable background data, and clear the cache on the gmail, thats all i can remember for now
i had this issue, when i accidentally disabled sync in the power control widget, then removed the widget. added the widget back, turned sync back on, removed the widget again.
I'll give that a shot.

Thanks so much! I was going through the exact same problem and going crazy!! Then I read your post and realized I played with (and uninstalled) SuperPower control widget yesterday also ... same deal, I guess I messed with the settings and somehow disabled syncing .. I now re-installed, turned syncing back on and removed program.. whew!!
I use the default android widget and turn on the sync option(the one with two arrow), it works for me.
Try it again by sending a email to yourself. See if it syncs
How do you clear the cache on Gmail? I have a bug where it still shows a mail count and deleting the message doesn't delete from my account so I have to use the web interface to actually delete messages. Hoping this would help?!

I've been racking my mind for 4 days now! Thanks sooo much for jogging my memory!
Hey Everyone,
I'm having the same issue with Gmail not syncing properly.
w/ Bell Mobility, rooted
The syncing icon is persistent in the status bar and nothing is happening. In the gmail app itself I will get proper unread message counts but the messages will not display. I have had to change my google password twice because it's getting "suspicious activity". I'm assuming this is being caused by the app. Everything was working fine up until a couple days ago.
I've tried clearing the cache and it will load it fine, once. After that same issue. I'm going to try clearing the cache and reinstalling the app to see if that makes a difference.
I've also tried disabling/enabled auto-sync and it hasn't made a difference either.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
UPDATE:
-- removed gmail updates from the market **No change**
-- it's still retrieving new e-mails but the sync icon in the status bar stays the same.. I have no idea what's going on now.
I have one calender (maybe more, but this is the one i noticed) that doesn't show the items in the calender on the note.... It shows on my other phone that I have.
I did a hard reset but it didn't help.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?
Dumb question - is the calendar selected to sync?
Yep, in fact I made it the only selected cal. But nothing shows up. Other cals will sync wifi select them.
It's weird i "fixed" this issue by overwriting the cals apk in system/apps using root explorer. Reboot and now it works.
I think there's a bug in the stock rom.
I experienced a similiar issue when I first got my phone. Even though I set up a new gmail account from the phone, the calendar didn't show up as an option to sync until after I did a full reset and re-input my calendar info. Definitely something odd going on with that app.
I seem to have deleted my Google calender (or some part of it) from my android (specs below). I can’t seem to be able to restore it.
I had problems syncing a new calender and was trying to clear all cache etc in order to get it to sync. I went into Settings --> applications --> All --> ‘Calendar’ (I’ve always had two of those, so I took the one with data in it, the other always stands on 0.0B).
I cleared the data, force stopped it and then I pushed Disable. The button went from disable to enable and I restarted my phone thinking I could enable it after restart. After reboot the calendar had disappeared. Meaning: no icon in the ‘applications’ screen, when I go into the settings menu I only have one post named ‘calendar’ (the empty one). Calendar Storage still has content though and when I use widgets they seem to be able to access and sync to my main Google calender. When I use ‘month’ view I can see the different events I have in my calendar but I can’t edit anything from my phone. As soon as I try to actually access it I get the message ‘Unfortunately, TwLauncher has stopped’.
How do I restore, or enable the Calender again? I find it really disturbing that I don’t have a calender icon in ‘application’ anymore and that it seems to have completely disappeared.
I’ve tried clearing data, experimenting with the sync option and rebooting several times. I just can’t seem to get any results though. And I can't find it on play so I can't re-install it. Any insight on this?

First check via Google mail/calendar if u see ur appointments...
If u don't see it there, they wasn't saved it Google account and so just local, which u delete (no restore)
If u see them there, just delete and reactivate ur Google account on ur phone.
CHEERS ;-)

Might have worked had it been a sync problem only (my calendar is intact on the web). This however is a problem of the built-in calendar app disappearing. I removed the account and installed it again but the calendar did not appear.
I'm starting to think that factory reset is the only viable option.

Hmm but that's a bit much for just probs like this...
Hmm u checked the options in application > all > calendar and delete data again?
Then also checked if calendar sync is active (I think so but just an idea)
So last option before factory reset would be wiping the dalvik cache
If at all now luck... U can do it.
But would be really strange.
Much success ;-)

Lost Calendar Events
Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I have a similar issue/problem
I was syncing and unsyncing with my samsung to google calendars, then the next day I checked, I realized all my events disappeared.
I did not erase anything yet all my events were gone.
I did notice that something was occurring during the period that I lost my data.
I saw that my default Samsung browser on my smart phone went on a refresh loop on google home page. This was an issue on googles end and was resolved eventually.
This was one of google's problems. There would be an issue with google recognizing me logging on the google home page and gmail. This lasted for a week. I wonder if that caused my data to disappear?
There are a few links below describing what happened. I'm wondering if this is an issue with Google, samsung+google, or syncing in general.
if I can recover my lost events that would be great!
It seems like a lot of them has to do with smartphones syncing, which is what I did. Even if there isn’t a solution or a recovery for this, it would be great to at least get an understanding as to why this happened (so i can avoid it in the future). I am currently storing everything local to my phone and havne’t experienced any loss of information. It’s quite disconcerting that if I did use google calendars, at any moment, all my events can go missing.

Restore a recent backup, that way the period of events lost will be minimal; only events entered/altered after the time of the backup, obviously (and you can then sync to Google if you like to bring that back up to date).
So far as recovering your lost events goes, I doubt Google will restore an individuals calendar events. Tho you might as well ask them, they might surprise you. That way you then simply restore them to your phone.
Failing that, unless you've got a copy of the db file containing the calendar events still on the phone, can't see how you'd get them back unfortunately.
As to why, I'd be asking Google. I've been keeping my phone/Google calendar synced a couple of times a day over the year and a bit I've had my SGS2 & never had a problem from their end (a couple very early doors caused by me when I had to reset my phone & I hadn't synced to Google before doing the reset).
Thanks Mistah. Unfortunately I didnt make any backups with TiBu or a nandroid at that time.
I've asked google and you are correct, they dont do event restores.
Yes definitely my main concern is why it happened at all? So it never happened to you?....hmmm..
im wondering if it was something on Google's part or something I did.
Before I realized my calendar disappeared, I unsynched and erased the profile on my device so it only had the local calendar, then i synced again.
I wonder if my erasing that profile on my samsung caused the calendar to delete. Or maybe it didn't register or save?
I can't 100% recall if I saved the events on google's calendar or my local. but if I stored on my local, shouldnt the data still be there even after my sync and unsync or google calendar?

Yep. If you remove the Google a/c from your phone completely, it deletes the events attached to that Google a/c in the calendar app. When you add it back, you'll have an empty calendar until you sync it from Google.
So essentially, what's seemed to have happened is you've done that with the a/c on your phone, for whatever reason your events @ Google's end have been nuked, so when you've re-added the a/c back on your phone & gone to sync it, there's been nothing there to sync back to the phone.
If you untick 'show [email protected]' in the calendar app settings (as opposed to removing the a/c outright), exit the app & restart the app you end up with an empty calendar, because it must have a Google a/c linked. If you retick 'show [email protected]' your events show again because simply unticking it doesn't delete anything.
Removing the a/c outright from the phone must purge the DB file(s) (?? I presume) on the phone.
That's the most logical explanation I can come up with given what happened/the order it happened in with your phone.

I just tried it again. I removed the account from my phone. then resynced it. All the info from the calendar is still there.
Currently i store everything locally and only view local calendar (as you've said, untick google calendar).
Also not sure if this matters, I'm not using google calendars, I'm using samsung's stock calendar planner.
I cant see how removing the account from ur handheld would erase all events from your calendar. Isn't removing the account just deciding not to sync with it?

google is blaming on samsung's app causing the erase when syncing.
