Wifi bootloader - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can't find any real answers to this. Got a 10.1 wifi for christmas, rooted it, and just noticed that the bootloader is locked. Ok well I think it is as I cant use NvFlash.
Obviously not that big of a deal but when I tried to flash AOKP Alpha one and it wouldn't load I wondered if this is why.
Any thoughts?

Tried to flash AOKP Alpha one? Whatthehellisthatanyway?
Locked bootloader?
Can't find any real answers to this?
Lets make it clear; youre a big fat liar and most likely didnt make any search at all.
The GTab 10.1 is one of the easiest to customize.
And that was my thought.
Theres a beautiful Sticky thread where you will find all the instructions you might need.

you might need to flash the latest recovery 5.0.2.7 before instaling it
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk

By chance did you use the overcome recovery? You must use the Pershoot recovery, same as other cm9 builds.

Recovery may be the issue. Going to try again.
Looks like that may have been the trick. Should I see the unlock symbol when I start up? Just curious

Just bought a gTablet, what is the quickest way to CM ROM on it?!

Just bought a gTablet after seeing CM7 support for it (not sure what the name of the rock I was living under is).
I was wondering if someone can give me the quickest steps to getting CM Rom on it please.

NVFlash
mount system/data
flash rom
mount system/data
flash gapps
mount system/data
reboot into CM7
Thank you Ace. For the repartition is there a sticky to it? I can't find it or probably looking at the wrong thing.
Read the nvflash thread as there is a 50% chance you will need to nvflash to use gingerbread roms.

no but you better be prepared for it as about half the new tabs wont flash gb roms without nvflash first
Even easer way.
Find z4root and install.
Permanent root
Find Rom manager install.
Flash cwm
Download cm7 from Rom manager.
Don't forget gapps
Click backup and wipe.
Enjoy

1. z4root is unnecessery
2. Never use Rom Manager on a GTablet right now
3. Flash bekit 0.8 from the link I provided
4. Don't flash Roms from Rom Manager on the GTablet
5. 50% chance you will still be nvflashing as your partitions will be backwards
If by some miracle Rom Manager doesnt give you a "Magic Value Mistmatch" right away it will at some point and you will be nvflashing anyway

Really this all being exact what I did w/o issue not once but, multiple times with 100% success. And btw nvflash is NOT required. Also if you want to use cm ya gotta learn to play with the tools to do so.

AT this POINT in time.... regardless of others successes.... ROM MANAGER is not a good idea for the G-Tablet. It more than likely will cause the issues BadFrog suggests previously.

What works for one tab does not work for another always. As far as tools go I am recommending he learn the tools that will benefit him when his tab crashes at some point and Rom Manager is not it. I promise you I can recover a gtab from almost any soft brick that Rom Manager will not. Those are the tools you need.

Well seeing how it is pointed tword CM7 the major worry about the new bootloader is minamal unless this person has ended up with a tablet with 1.2 preinstalled then yes useing nvflash is segested. But only to downgrade the bootloader. We arn't talking about a rom modifacation but a full change in the rom. That is what cm is not like tnt not like vegan and not like gadam.

Rom Manager has never been a good idea on the G Tablet. It has caused issues since the beginning. The new cwm works on some tabs and not others. bekit 0.8 works on all tabs. Some tabs can not use gingerbread roms with out nvflashing reguardless of what rom is already on there. You have been extremely lucky and that is not the norm. This has nothing to do with 1.1 vs 1.2
Just charging the tablet right now out the box. Waiting for a definitive route. :-(

So I gather. NVFlash, Clockwork, partition (as CW) will allow me to do so, and then flash CM7 zip.
Sound correct?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
You may not need to nvflash. Im suggesting you set it up just in case. If you install bekit 0.8 and then cm7 and it gets stuck on the vs birds then you will be nvflashing. If it doesnt then you are okay
Easiest thing to do with a brand new gtab.
Step 1: Return your gtab.
Step 2: Go to an Apple store.
Step 3: Buy an ipad 2.

Got one of those as well.
Ok, then just do step 1 and you're all done.
I love my gtab with all my heart, and my elderly dad loves his gtab. This is why I am discouraging everyone I come in contact with from getting this device. It ain't no ipad. What people will do is get this device thinking it's an ipad and then they get a huge disappointment when they figure out they have to do some work. If you already got an ipad 2, then buy another one. We don't need more people who bought this device thinking it's an ipad.
Sorry if that came out cranky. I'm having to deal with people who don't understand the difference between a customizable tablet and a locked down tablet.

Personally I have to deal with people like that on the cm forums all the time. But in my case they cannot tell the difference between an android phone (HTC, samsung, Motorola, Sony) and the Motorola Droid. People comeing in "i got a Droid from T-Mobile how do install this" kinda stuff. Then there's apple fan boys that joined the gameing forum. So yeah.
On topic. Dude pick your poison on how ya like to install your Rom. They all basicly work. Oh and on the RM comment the only cwm available for flashing through rom manager is the bekkit .8 cwm the reason I segest it is a 1 click method is easyer for a noob at the gtab than making things complecated. Finding nvflash alone was a trick to find on nvidia's website. So telling a person to root, flash, restart and install (after backing up the rom ) is easyer than tethering multiple times and restating the device 5times to get it all done.

[Q] just got a Fascinate and need help

i just bought a Fascinate today that was rooted. it's on 2.2.2, and as far as i can tell there is no custom rom on it. how do i go about unrooting, and if i do, will i be able to root again? i want a completely fresh start since i don't know what this guy has done on the phone.
also, the battery cover is pretty messed up. it still works but it has a lot of scratches. anyone know a good battery cover under $10 including shipping?

question about the battery cover, do i need to buy one specifically made for the Fascinate or can i use ones made for the Vibrant and Galaxy S i9000? i found a stock black one for the Fascinate on Amazon, but it would be cool to get a chrome colored one i saw on ebay.

voodoo lagfix converts rfs (Touch Wiz) to ext4 filesystem. Mtd based roms use yaffs filesystem which is superior, so voodoo lagfix is not compatible and would be a downgrade quite frankly.

where can i download those? also can i use something like z4root? i really hate relying on a USB Connection for the Fascinate. i don't know why but it only works once in a while. i was able to odin to gingerbread using your guide last night, but now i can't get the phone to connect no matter what i do. this is the one huge flaw with this phone for me.
EDIT: would it matter if the phone isn't activated? since i have to do the softkey enable trick everytime i turn it on.
You can find them on cayanogen website. search google drivers... I'm not sure if activating the phone makes a difference or not... I wouldn't think so but not certain. also maybe try a different computer...just throwing ideas out there.

[Q] Read until my eyes hurt....I'm sorry i have to ask....

This is my very first smartphone as I have been to poor to get one before now. I have Att SGS2. From what i have read i have made a bad decision when doing the factory upgrade to uckk6.
The thing is I want to root the phone, put on custom mods....but I am having a hard time grasping it. I don't want to mess anything up and I dont want to lose my photos and such that are on the phone.
I dont know where to even start.....backup program? or? what all programs or apps i need?
before I upgraded, i downloaded a super1click program and it said it was rooted...then i tried to use the phone and there was soooo much lag in the response time..... i hit the unroot button and tried to use the phone and same thing...restarted phone and it was fine. While it was rooted tho, the damn superuser part asked for money before i could even do anything, that was second reason for unroot and of course thinking i may mess up my phone.
I have tried asking all my friends and to no avail have succeeded in finding anyone that has rooted a phone and/or flashed custom roms.
Like I said in the title, i have been to many different sites even trying to read up and I would rather be safe than sorry. If someone could plz help me out here I would be very grateful.
I am hoping I don't get spazzed at like i seen in a few other posts of other ppl.
And i have seen where someone sent ppl to:
[Heimdall][Odin][Stock][Root]UCKH7/KK6 Return/Unbrick to Stock (or Root
but that doesnt get my foothold on where to start at.
Please don't write me off as a lost cause because I would like to enjoy the benefits of having a rooted phone and custom roms as the rest of you that are intelligent enough to do so. At one point I'm sure you were where i am. I am very eager to learn and can't wait!
While I was writing this i downloaded the Uckk6_stock_rooted.tar.7z not sure if i need it or what though.
Thanks
Follow this guide TO A TEE, and you shouldn't have any problems. It also won't trigger the flash counter so you can take it back for repairs and Samsung won't know you've done anything to it. Use (2C) Entropy's version using windows to root as the others won't work with the OTA update. If you have a MAC, use 2D. Folow the directions EXACTLY how their written. This will get you rooted. Drop down to 3B and again, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY HOW THEIR WRITTEN. After this is done, you have a Entropy's kernel with CWM. You can then download any COMPATIBLE rom to your internal SD card and flash the rom with CWM.
To save your pics and such, just hook your phone to your puter via the USB cord and copy/paste, or drag and drop to a file on your computer.

I just don't understand why people who can't comprehend the process of rooting or flashing even try. It's not like this phone sucks stock that they just have to mod it to make it workable. None of this is rocket science, but if you don't understand it beforehand then JUST LEAVE YOUR PHONE ALONE! It will be 100 times harder to fix it if you don't know how you messed it up in the first place. It really isn't fair to expect people in here to bail you out when things go wrong because you didn't know what you were doing. The warnings aren't there to keep you from the good stuff. They're there so that you'll think before doing and only do once you understand.

I've read everything in your thread so far and it sounds like everything is fixed. If wifi works and you have root, cwm, and superuser you should be good to go. Go install roms and enjoy. Really doubt your wifi is going anywhere. I'm far from a programmer or anything like that, and from my experience, if you follow the instructions it's hard to **** this phone up beyond repair firmware wise so freaking out is pointless.

I bought the phone, rooted it and flashed a custom rom all yesterday. I was on KK6 2.3.6. Here is EXACTLY what I did:
Get Odin 1.7 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832827
Get Samsung Kies from here (only way my computer would pick up the phone):
http://mirror10.downloadandroidrom.com/download/Samsung/Kies_2.0.3.11082_152_4.exe?token=512181517
Follow 2c from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311081
Then Step 3A in the same thread.
My phone restarted and I was rooted. My WiFi didn't work. Wiped all data in Clockwork Mod Recovery and I was all set. Then I unlocked my phone (this is optional). Then I flashed a ROM. Easy.
Seems like you're all set if I you did something close to that^
I used ICScrewD (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375255)
Another popular option is UnNamed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299474)

[Q] Phone bricked i believe

Hello, i've been using these forums in particular the Samsung Galaxy S2 thread "
[Rom] AOKP(Jellybean 4.1.2) | Task650 & Ktoonsez (11/9)" for awhile now, probably going on a year. Just today i tried updating to the aforementioned update in that thread from 11/9, and while installing the ROM segment, i got an Error, and said installation aborted, tried once more, same thing, upon trying to reboot my phone it is now stuck in an endless reboot loop, which is why i believe it is bricked. I have found sites that tell me to get back to the stock rom, since i believe that is my only option now, but first and foremost id like to know how to manually get into recovery mode.
Other sites have said holding down Home Volume Up and Power simultaneously will do this, i've tried multiple times, hasn't worked, so unless there's something i'm missing there i'd love to know if there is some other way. Also if there is anything i can do besides simply going back to stock ROM which is a long and drawn out process Id love to know.
Thank you for ANY and all answers in advance.
First off, make sure you have the i777. I know you said you've been using Tasks' AOKP rom, but forgive us for not trusting you yet. Too many people are trying to flash roms that aren't built for their model.
Secondly, recovery mode is volume up AND down, while holding the power for the i777. Hold all three until you get into recovery.
Also, what sort of error did you get? If you can get into recovery your phone isn't bricked.

I've been flashing form this thread for nearly a year as i mentioned so i definitely have the right model, i'm not sure what type of error it was, all i know it it said something like E:/Error cancellation aborted.
Ok in the midst of posting this i finally got into recovery thank you, and i tried reinstalling again. it says "Installing Update...
Symlink: some symlinks failed
E:Error in /emmc/aokp_JB_I777-ota-eng.task650.ktoonsez-11.9.2012.zip
(Status 7)
Which i know is a common issue in the FAQ. but the only suggestion is to install some other ROM< which i cannot do b/c i cannot get the phone past boot screen, so i believe i'll be using a guide i found on cnet to go back to stock rom.

I have no problem doing that as long as their some guide on this site to go back to stock rom for me. This guide requires me to go to download mode, which i'm assuming is a different button combination than Recovery?
Id like to know that if thats known.

I'm thinking if i can get into download mode, i can follow the steps that the thread i've been following far give you for status 7 errors, and get my back up and running how it was.
Just need to know how lol.
First thing is IF you need to go back to stock find creepycrawly's return to stock thread. I would HIGHLY SUGGEST TO ONLY USE GUIDES FROM THIS FORUM.
Now onto your issue I personally would get a remove able sdcard, download the aokp zip again and double check the md5. My bet is you just got a bad download. Place the new aokp on the external sdcard, reboot back into recovery and choose to install from sdcard (NOT from internal sdcard since you cannot boot up). Then flash the new aokp.
Another thought is did you make a nandroid backup? You should be able to get into recovery and restore from internal sdcard if you made a nandroid. This will get you back to where you were originally. Then redownload the aokp and check that the md5 matches EXACTLY. Then flash the newer aokp. You are not bricked at this point. Follow up here after you try my suggestions and let us know how it went.

Covered thousands of times in this forum.
Volume up and down plus power gets to recovery
Volume up and down plus plug in USB gets you to download. These should be the first things anyone knows before Modding their phone.

I was referred to this thread nearly a year ago by a friend, and i've had no issues so far, so i kind of arrogantly didn't look too far into things like that, which now i'm obviously regretful of. I've gotten into Download mode, am i right in assuming that download mode only accesses stuff on the external SD< b/c i cannot access my internal drive when entering it, which would make my previous theory about being able to follow the standard Status 7 recovery tutorial if i could get into download mode, wrong.
Sadly to respond to the other poster, no again, with the same about not knowing how to get into download mode, i never made a nandroid, mainly because almost everything on my phone is disposable, i don't take pictures really at all, and all my numbers/contacts are synced up to GMAIL, i guess i never thought of a situation arising like this where that didn't matter, i simply wanted to use my phone lol.
Back to a previous comment you said that i now realize i answered too hastily, about if i have the I777, when my phone boots up it says I9100, but what's weird, and i said it before i was referred here by a good friend of mine who knows my phone, and is a much more experienced rooter than i am, so i guess i just took their word for it, and as i said i've flashed ROM's on this phone for nearly a year now, and it's been seamless, not a single problem up until this point, so im wondering if the i777 vs i9100 conflict caused anything.
[EDIT:] Disregard the following comments... I don't believe they will help.

I want to thank everyone on this thread for their patience, and their answers, i actually used a guide from another site because it had gotten really good feedback, the only problem is it does not have the I777 official firmware, but rather the i9100, for the international version of the phone so my back key does not work, i am currently looking for the correct version, on this thread, and across the internet if anyone can find the official firmware let me know, thanks in advance, and again thanks everyone who answered in the past, your patience and answers were greatly appreciated.

Forums have these things called stickies. Within these stickies are tidbits of information .. typically these tidbits are important enough to warrant the sticky status and as such should be read carefully. All the info you seek is contained within these stickies

Just get into recovery mode and do the three wipes to fix the bootloop. If it doesn't, DOWNLOAD and FLASH others rom from the original development thread and then install the latest aokp from task to prevent the error status 7. otherwise, please edit the build.prop

For one you could have easily found the sticky threads with the i777 stock firmware. Second now that you flashed a i9100 I HOPE it didn't contain the boot loaders for the i9100. But I guess you will find out at some point I'm sure.
Like I said EVERYTHING you need CAN and ONLY should be found HERE on xda developers. Anything else is a crap shoot. Maybe you will get lucky and maybe not.
now that you flashed the i9100 firmware you will have to actually READ FURTHER than you did before to see HOW to fix your button issue. It can be easy if you know what your doing or can be hard if you don't. Good luck. I'm out...

[Q] Questions on Rooting GS4

Hey guys, I've recently come across a VZW GS4 and I'm stuck on rooting. I know nothing about Samsung phones so this is pretty new to me. I tried towelroot and it was not sucessfull even after entering the different codes. The picture below is of the "About phone" section in settings. If you could just point me in the direction of a thread that would help me or let me know what do you, I'd really appreciate it.

So I flashed the first thing, as per your recommended post and wifi will not enable afterwards. I open towelroot v3 and it asks to be connected to the internet. So now I'm stuck there. Any advice?
YOu need to flash modules or Goglies wifi fix
Ahhhhh, I see how that could help. Thank you very much.

How do I flash in ODIN? Just the same place as the NC5, under AP?
EDIT: Okay so not in ODIN. Like I said, I know nothing about Samsung devices. Seeing as how it is a .zip file I assume I need to flash it in a recovery on the phone. I jumped to conclusions with the wifi fix so I am now going to actually look up the proper way to apply it.

Is safestrap just the stock recovery or is it a custom like TWRP or CWM? And another thing, whenever flash an old firmware so I can root, it doesn't seem to actually change. I'm still at NK4 every time I change it. You know what I'm doing wrong? I've looked into a few different posts nothing is working. I've tried towelroot and Kingo.
And I suppose I should actually address your reply instead of just going on a tangent, I did and it put the phone in a bootloop and I have yet to address that. I just reflashed NK1 deal with it for the moment.

That is the thread I've been looking at most actually. But I just can't catch a break. Every time I try to download the files I want, my G3 fails instantly and my friends Wi-Fi just won't download at all. I think I now know an even better reason to why I've never bothered getting a Samsung haha.
