And doing this, did you managed to restore the backup successfully ??
Well this thing happens with BOTH megatron and void roms...when i boot into custom recovery /cache is the only one mounted and i tried unmounting it before trying a nand+ext+.android_secure backup...doesn't work my sd card is like 3 gb free and ext4 a2sd has only 130Mb of apps in it..
Guys I had made a simple nandroid backup after rootingand installing custom recovr and before installing void. Now if I restore the nandroid backup, will I still have the custom recovery or not?

i cant mount the sd-ext partition from the custom recovery.. it says:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
even nadroid back up with ext ends: run nandroid-mobile.sh via adb
any solution??
Boot in recovery mode.
Connect phone to pc.
Mount ext partition via adb.(after that in Custom recovery mount menu you will found ext partition mounted)
Do nandroid

//Edit: First try to create backup ONLY of system, without any other option. If this will be work, you probably done same mistake as I did.
Same as me. I didn't do wipe of EXT after creating of ext-part and I had same symptoms. Backup all your data with Titanium Backup, backup data on SDcard, delete ext, create ext2 again, convert ext2 on one, that you want, do wipe of it. Than it should be working (I had).

ext2 is faster, because it haven't journal. But it on some I/O output error is not possible to recover it by itself. Ext3 have journal - is slower, but in case of problem will (can) repair itself. ext4 is better ext3.
under partition section - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10377391&postcount=4
At the time I made the recovery kernel sources were not out so I couldnt add ext3 & ext4 support to recovery. I'll try to update it as time allows.
mount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /sd-ext
be shure /se-ext exists

i know that.. but in ext4 i couldnt take a nandroid +ext backup because the ext4 partition could not be mounted. in ext2 and ext3 i managed to do nandroid backup +ext and mount the ext partition only through adb..

Try another kernel, but I don't know which works with cm7 and has the option to create a partition, why do you need to make a partition using cwm. Aren't there other methods?

Use a cardreader and make the partitions on pc. Use EASEUS, but the partition mustn't be over 2048mb, otherwise it maybe can't be mounted. Here is a german link with screenshots
Use MiniTool Partition Wizard on PC. It easy, u can partition ur sdcard with any format. Do a google search, its free software.

If youre ext4 is mounted, it should always work. I never had any problems restoring my ROMS and have the apps on ext4 restored.
Im using Link2sd btw, and it has always worked great.
I have around 115 apps moved and linked to my ext4 and they always been restored.
Check that there is nothing wrong with your ext4 partition

Why do I keep getting bootloops when I restore nandroid backups ?

A week ago,I flashed cwm touch recovery(1st time I install a custom recovery on my gs3) with odin.I decided to try out wanamlite so I made a nandroid backup of my ROM(stock 4.1.2) then flashed wanamlite.I had a titanium backup of my data so I could restore it on wanamlite but I forgot to put it on my pc before flashing and wiping data(silly I know lol) so I wanted to restore my nandroid backup so I could make another TB of my data but the restore wasn't successful.I got this error message in cwm touch ''error restoring /data !'' or smthin similar and I got in a bootloop.I tried flashing back stock ROM and wiping data(with sd card) then tried to restore the nandroid again, got the same error.I later found out that titanium backup can restore data from a nandroid.Anyways,I tried to make a backup using TWRP but when I tried to restore it,I got in a bootloop again...what could be the problem ? I never had this problem with my gs2...
TL;DR:restoring a nandroid backup gets me in a bootloop whether I use cwm touch or TWRP.
are you backing up to the internal?
have your tried backing up multiple times?

Yes I backed up to the internal sd card.I backed up once with cwm and TWRP.Btw,when I tried restoring I had to move the backup from pc to phone because I did a full data wipe and the backup was gone(in both times) if that makes any difference.I have made sure the backup was the same size when I moved it to and from my pc.
Did you enable MD5 check? Could it be files damage to cause unsuccessful boot up?

No but why would they be damaged ? and why would it happen TWICE ? anyways,I will try again now with md5 check.
UPDATE:tried out with md5 checking, didn't get any errors but I still got into bootloop :/
if you didn't turn md5 on Before backing up, there's no md5 to compare to, hence no errors.
