P506 ATT Thrive - Optimus One, P500, V General

I picked up a used Thrive for my wife. It looks like most of the talk hear is about the P500.
Is that specific instructions for root the P506? I've also searched P506 for a custom ROM, but don't see may options.
Do custom ROMs exist for the P506?
thanks.

Only optimus one that can use p500 ROMs is the T-Mobile variant so your out of luck :/

First of all...wrong forum.
Second of all...if you couldn't find any, obviously it means there are none.
I'm just going to be harsh about it because this is one of the most ignorant threads started.
Before the wolves tear this one apart, this would be a good Q&A subforum thread. Since everything is based on a 2.3.4 beta, which has only recently been available, there really won't be any final releases for another few weeks, I'd imagine.
Edit: I type too slow
For future reference... how can there be compelte ROMs if theyre based on an incomplete release?
Jus' sayin'

Was JUST a question. And if i couldn't find something doesnt necessarily mean its not there.

i am using the ORFRA 2.3.4 INT rom with the edgan's kernel for the last couple of days. seems very stable and fast.

I dont know about the best but ive been using the following one and havent come across any bugs except the home launcher tends to not be too smooth. Using go launcher and its working great.

It has been asked for repeatedly. I even spoke with a mod. It doesn't appear it's going to happen.
If you have an optimus S/T, there are a few good roms including a port of CM7 to it. There are a couple of custom kernels as well as a decent recovery.
The rooting method is "gingerbreak" and is cake to install.
You can find ROMs and Rooting utilities on a couple of forums -- ppcgeeks and android central.
I'm running CleanROM on a couple of Optimus S phones and it works GREAT. It includes an overclock kernel and is stable to 800mhz (at least on my phones). Version 2.1 is the latest, I believe, and is quite stable and very quick over stock.
Enjoy rooting and romming your S/T. Good stuff....

[Q] Difference between LC5, LD3 & LC2

I know this is probobly a noob question but I was looking to install the new leaked ICS on my AT&T SG2 and wanted to know which of the 3 different versions I should be installing.

Newest is always assumed to be the best; however, the reliability and functionality of the modems vary by your location. What may work exceptionally well for me could produce lackluster results for you. Your best bet is to try them out for yourself. Flashing them is easy enough.
Good luck.
Thank you for your help!
I was also attracted to the leaked packages, until I realized:
Leaks have even less quality and effort put in, compared to the horrible firmware actually released. They're just early.
The leaks may be some android version, but they've been mangled by Samsung AND AT&T. Vanilla is now my only flavor...
(maybe the leaked nature of the leaks is appealing in itself? Makes you feel like you're getting one up on "the system"? BYPASS the system with CM9!)
All 3 of the leaks work well for me. UCLD3 is GREAT and I will run it until another leak (or an official release) comes along.
With that said...no ROM is perfect.
You will have the most choices and dev support using ported firmwares that are originally developed and others ported work.

Amen! All our developers are great and very dedicated. We all give them our thanks.
Stomp Em Drink Em SGSII

Our and-dev section needs some activity

Seems as every other variant Att/international forums have blown up huge!!
We need some development for our model dedicated roms or atleast something forthcoming.
Anyone know if any chefs are on top of getting some goodies for us soon??

Yes we do need development for the tmobile htc one., but the phone just got out, so will give it two more weeks before developement starts .. Im just guessing
I think devs are gonna start working really soon on our devices, but probably they're focusing on the att/international/unlocked and then the porting will begin because of specific things like WiFi calling (one of the biggest reasons I'm with tmo) and radio compatibility.
Anyways if you're feeling adventurous there are some roms you can flash from the int version.

I've been using some of the ROM's and kernels from the international forum since I got the phone...trust me, they all work perfectly fine. Don't believe all the bemoaning you're hearing about Aroma installer not working either. Simply use the physical buttons to navigate and select while you're in the installer and it flashes anything perfectly fine. Kernels also have no issue installing even with S-ON, just simply wipe cache and dalvik and flash
Currently on Trickdroid 5.2.1 and bulletproof 1.5

That was kind of the point I was trying to make, it is basically the same phone with different radios. And devs are not including radios in roms...

I would not expect them to put the radios in the ROMs, since that would mean that people could accidentally flash the wrong radio for their region. It is much better to flash the radios separately.

I agree 100% with you, that's why I said that the only difference with carriers are probably the radios, and devs are not putting them in the roms implying that he someone could flash the international version with no problems other that WiFi calling with tmo

I agree with everyone, I just think we should still have our own roms at some point in our own forum..100% ready to rock!!
Rom kernel radio and all.. Without having to crosbreed over to the international forum...eveytime we need a Rom... I realize it's the only way for now ,I was just saying .
I'm sure itll pick up soon..
Hopefully we get some themed roms that and or cm10 ....Maybe paranoid android ....
Something to change the the whole sense ui if need be .
I've flashed a few they all are pretty much the same looking besides having extra toggles .
Stock seems to suit for now.
Maybe with HTC sense ui...that's all we can expect roms to look like .
I remember roms for the OG evo days back when always so different looking from the look of the ui....to boot animations ...icons etc....
Roms these days always seem to replicate stock loook with a kernel change and maybe some extra notification /widgets built in .

[Q] Which Mega do I have?

I would like to ROM my phone, but none of the numbers discussed in this forum seem to identify mine. It says L600VPUANA7 on the software and Baseband, and the model is SPH-L600. When searching the forum for this particular Mega, which Mega version am I looking for?
Repeat after me "Google is my friend".....

Okay, that's all well and good, but I'm not looking for a stock firmware. I'm trying to ROM my phone, and every ROM I look for lists things like GT-I9200/I9205. Is this ostensibly the same phone? I've googled it plenty. I just want to know what is safe to install, but no one includes L600 in their descriptions.

Ask in the thread of the ROM you're interested in.
But really, ROMs that support are scarce. The only ROM I've seen that claims to support L600 by default is CM12.

Thank you. CM is my favorite. I'll wait until 12 leaves beta. I was trying to get in on 11, but I'm glad that there's hope with 12.
