Any one want to port Adam Ink to Archos?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928152
The Adam uses the nVidia Tegra 2 with the nVidia GPU and OpenGL acceleration - so i think it won't run very well on the Archos...
but it looks very promising - so i would be glad if someone proves the opposite!

The Galaxy Tab doesn't use Tegra 2 either...
i've read that the adam stutters with multitasking with eden. i'm pretty sure eden will cripple the archos.

Absolutely....sell your Archos 101, then buy Viewsonic Gtab...
ADAM os is awesome. multitasking, and super fast browser.

ADAM os works only in dual core processor. Since Samsung has only 1 core processor, it is not possible for the OS to work, same with the Archos 101.

i had the gtablet. very fast hardware, but the screen was the worst i've seen in all the tablets i bought.
as bad as the screen is on the a101 the gtablet was even worse. if i could swap the two screens i'd have kept the gtablet.

I played Archos 101 before, in my opinion both have screen resolution problem. Since the Archos company advertised that their tablet is more on multimedia aspect. Why did they put bad screen resolution for it in the first place? As far as the hardware is concern, VS Gtablet is way far away... and it has a freedom to tweak it to the fullest. What can you say Apple?

Then why is there an alpha of it in the galaxy tab forum?

it wasn't a resolution problem, it was a quality problem. the viewing angles are horrid on the gtablet.
why a company that sells monitors chose such a low quality screen on such wonderful hardware is beyond me. I'd have gladly paid $500 for an ips option on the gtablet.
that said robeets work on the port is remarkable! as is all his other work. it almost makes me want to get another gtablet just to play with.
There is a worldwide LCD shortage, and you're all complaining about paying $300 for a 10 inch Archos Tablet? The screen resolution is the same as every 10 inch netbook, and the viewing angles were designed to look right at the exact angle I'm always using it at. Haven't tried the gtablet, but if it's truly worse than the A101, that's a bit surprising for Viewsonic.
My phone has a 4.3 inch screen, and it cost $600 bucks, so I think everyone is being a bit harsh.
As for the Adam firmware, yeah, it ain't gonna happen.

most definately. i had both at the same time (along with the a70, galaxy tab, nook color, sylvania tablet, and ipad) sitting in the same spots (i rigged a spot in my car for the tablets). the archos had the better screen (though still bad) and is the best at multimedia capabilites. i wanted a carputer and went with the archos. the gtablet didn't get as bright and it's contrast wasn't as good. the angels were very bad.

i really didn't see anyone complaining about paying $300 for an archos. i was complaining as to why viewsonic didn't include a better screen option and raise the price. since the are tablets, they are meant to also be handheld devices, meaning the viewing angles can, and will, change continously. to have a screen with limited viewing angles pretty much kills the handheld capabilities unless you've got a steady head and hands.

The a101 version has the same limited viewing angles, identical to the gtablet.
The screen on the a70 is superieur to the a101.
I just watched 10 videos on you tube of the G tablet and the screen looks great! Maybe it was just the one you had that was bad.

A bad screen viewing angle is a common complaint. Just read the G-Tab forums to see all of the complaints.

unless you've got a worse screen on your a101 than i do, the gtablet is worse than a 101. their angles are close but the 101 gets just a bit more. other reviews have agreed with my observation.
This is a video of the viewing angles, to me it doesn't look that bad. specially compared to the Archos 101.
G Tab

Archos 101, now these angles are allot worst.

also there is a video there of a guy just flipping the G Tablet upside down and it looked great! I just think you have to concider all the G tablet is offers for the price, plus other tabs have the same problem and are worst. I think the Noton Ink tab looks aweful even face directly, from the videos. G tablet is a great bang for the buck, specially with the thanks of the guys here at XDA making it what it is today.

Archos is giving us all the tools we need to do anything we want with this thing.. SDE dual boot.. have you seen UruK??? its not even out of Beta and offers so many things already, plus I can always go right back to stock using the SDE in a "dual-boot" kind of way... G-tab? really? then you might want to go buy one and good luck in the G-tab forums... No offense though, i just don't see what is so worth the extra 400 dollars??
Hi every one,
i'm going to upgrade to a new phone soon!
First i wanted to go with the Samsung GS2 but a far as i red, it has a Yamaha DAC! Now, is the Audio QUALITY (i don't care about the volume that much! on my OLD Nokia N95-3 i never listened on a higher vol. level than 50% at home, with my cans) comparable to... sayin' an iPod touch 2nd gen? (wich is, besides my N95 and netbook, the only device i have to capare lol) or a Netbook onboard Soundcard? (Realtek HD Audio...) or should i rather get the ATRIX? (wich has a wolfson DAC, i think) but the bad thing on the Atrix is that is doesn't have as much memory (11,5 gigs vs. nothing) wich means i can't put my whole library on the phone...
EDIT: what i basicly wanna ask is: is the Audio Quality of the Yamaha DAC really THAT BAD?
thanks!
has rly no1 any idea?
Sg2. Sound quality is decent for a phone, nd the sg2 rapes the atrix in every other way.
Peace

You should head to GSMARENA for a comprehensive review on the audio quality of the SGS II:

"Things aren't as impressive when you plug-in a pair of headphones. Stereo crosstalk, which increases rapidly, volume levels decrease and intermodulation distortion starts creeping in. The general result is still decent, but we've certainly seen better here." ...hmmm
I too say the GS2, although the tegra 2 processor is good the exynos prosessor easily out performs it, noticably. As for the laptop dock, a big fail.

Peace and rape in the same sentence!
It's decent. I'd assume that only an audiophile would be able to tell the difference.
But the SGS2 is a far better choice imo compared to the Atrix. Especially when you consider that the Atrix is more expensive than the SGS2, has a smaller screen, no SMOLED+, slower cpu/gpu, smaller customer base, less development, etc.
If you've been paying attention to the dev thread on the atrix, you know that there's about to be some VERY big things happening

I'm sure there is, but it's pretty clear that it is essentially an inferior device.

Why is that? Atrix is 16GB device, with 1GB of RAM, exactly the same as SGS2
I have Atrix 4G for a month, my father liked it a lot and want to get one. Now i am thinking about giving my atrix to him and getting SGS2 for myself. I like SGS2, but i want say that "it is essentially an inferior device" is incorrect, Atrix certainly have some problems, but so SGS2 as well. HDMI port on Atrix it's a very nice thing, and it works on any HDMI TV or monitor in 2 modes (media center or webtop) without any additional hardware, via included HDMI cable. SGS2 screen is better indeed in size and quality, but atrix have better resolution, 800*480 on such a big and hi-quality screen as SGS2's one it's an epic fail IMO. Anyways, what i am saying is that grass isn't always greener on the other side, Atrix and SGS2 are perfectly comparable devices of the same generation/price range (Atrix is cheaper now), just compare all the +/- of both devices to decide which one better fits your needs.
Doesnt the Atrix share half it's RAM with the WEB OS for the docks though?? If so, that's not so good.
Also, with a pentile display, the Atrix higher resolution still looks aweful as it's pixellated. This is what put me off it.
Aside from being slower, im sure the Atrix is a nice device
Edit: Sorry, meant to say, for audio, I use poweramp and as far as i'm concerned, the audio is quite good. Then again, ive
never rated ipod/iphone audio quality so my opinion is probably biased lol.

I am not sure what it shares with Webtop, but the amount of available RAM is around 800 MB, which is roughly the same as SGS2.
About display, first of all I do agree that SGS2's one is better, but all the stories about awful pentile display are way exaggerated. Atrix have a very good hi-res display, I've compared it to LG G2X's one head to head, you may notice pentile only when trying to read extremely small content, for example while fitting to screen big webpage without any zoom. On normal usage scenarios it looks perfectly on par with non-pentile displays.
I want to buy my wife a 7" tablet for Christmas. Desired specs are: Android 2.2+, easily rooted and market install(I have rooted and installed market on a Pandigital Novel 7" table and a Viewsonic Gtab with a lot of help from members). She primarily uses it for crossword puzzles(shortz) and web surfing. I would like for it to be able to access a ad-hoc wifi, the Pandigital(hers) can not do this. I do not think she would need a lot of storage(memory?). Would 512mb of ram and 1ghz processor be over-kill? And it needs to be in the $150.00-$200.00 range. Could go slightly higher for an exceptional deal. Thanks
Amazon Fire easy. Dual-Core, best deal available, root should be available soon, maybe even a Honeycomb port!
Maybe look for a Dell Streak deal. Waaaay underrated. The resolution is criticized as being limited, but that's a little silly. It's a 7 inch screen so you can only REALLY use so much resolution before the letters get to small to read. The real problems with it are (I have one) poor battery life and poor viewing angles. Neither are big issues for many users. If you are sharing your 7 inch tablet with many viewers and have to watch from a wide angle, you may be unhappy if you are viewing from 50 degrees off-angle. In reality, it's never been a problem. Battery life really does suck...6-8 hours of "on time" and 4-5 or a little less with constant use. If that's not enough (it's not always for me), then just be aware. Ergonomically, it's among the best I've used. There's nothing on the market today in the 7 inch size compelling enough to make me change.

Guys I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I want to buy a 10" used tablet for myself and I'm confused with what to get basically. I was extremely close to getting a Transformer TF101 as it was affordable and fit my needs but I'm a little worried about getting a tablet with an older screen res. Now, I don't care for performance and software upgrades but I feel a screen resolution upgrade is sufficient for me to situp and take notice.
So can anyone tell me if the extra PPI on the newer large tablets - TF700T, A700, etc make a massive difference and justify its price? I'm looking for input from people who have used a 10" 1280x800 tablet and then upgraded to 10" 1920x1200 (eg. Iconia A500/A510>A700 or TF101/TF201>TF700T or Nexus 7>Nexus 10.
My main tablet usage will be movies, reading ebooks and occasional web browsing.
Um anyone?

it mainly depends what size you prefer. obviously the Z4 is a little bit more cutting edge with a higher res display, faster processor, better camera, but both are lovely tablets that can still run anything at their respective resolutions.
i always thought i'd go for 7-8" tablets when i bought one because they are a good portable middle ground, but phones are already quite big these days so i went for a Z4 so it actually makes a noticeable difference in experience compared to the phone, and the Z4 is one of the lightest 10" tablets ever made and as a result feels really easy and comfortable to hold even in one hand compared to other 10" tablets that might have given you feeling that they are too big.
Ive played with a samsung tab s 10.5 (its pretty light too) and i just prefer a smaller footprint. My old nexus 7 was the perfect size but im willing to go up to 8inches if the z3 is the best smaller android tablet
I've got both and surprisingly the performance of both isn't too different to each other, even though one has a QualComm 801 32-bit v 810 64-bit. I think there are still optimisations yet to come for the Z4.
Its down to screen size for now and if you really want that expensive keyboard. For me, yes, 10.1 inch screen for fun + work / productivity is great. Z3 is still an excellent tablet.
