My phone is dead. :( - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I completely bricked it. I was using MIUI and then I tried to go back to stock and I was stuck on the AT&T splash screen. it was just a bootloop. I followed the directions on how to unbrick the phone but I think I made it worse because now I cant even get into Odin. The phone doesnt even turn on. What do I do? Please help.

Sorry to say this but it seems like you failed to flash ether the sbl1 or the boot.bin, which are bootloaders of the phone, only way to fix it is ether sending it to samsung and pray they fix(counter wont help here) or have some one with a riff box revive your device by re flashing the sbl1 or boot.bin.

ITs not fully dead yet, still chances are alive, you can take it to someone who can write boot-loader through JTAG process.
After repair boot loader you can boot into boot mode, then write normal firmware as usual

Ask adamoutler. He's already said he should be able to jtag the sgsii. He does the unbrickable mod to captivates for $30, you pay for shipping both ways, and that is way more intense than jtag. I can't imagine him charging you over $50.

That's really strange - which instructions did you follow? No return-to-stock package I know of includes bootloaders, they are kept separately for a reason (and THIS is the reason...)

[Q] Question about returning phone

Hey guys I need to return my phone to be fixed, but have a slight problem. The firmware is all stock except for when it boots up it says it is a GT-I9100. This is left from a previous flash that I did, but I went back to stock and never bothered to fix that, because it didn't really bug me. Now my phone won't recognize a charger or any usb plugs. My question is will Samsung/AT&T still accept my phone for replacement with this? If not is there anyway I can fix the boot screen without plugging my phone in? Thanks guys sorry for the noob question, but I am not really sure what to do and this is kind of a specific problem, so I couldn't find anything in the search. Once again really appreciate any help!

No, don't do that.
You can either use Mobile Odin to remove it, or do a complete Return to Stock using Odin.

You're absolutely right. For some reason I thought you were stock rooted...my mistake. Use my second option then.
As long as you root it, you can use Mobile Odin. Not like it matters anyway, you just need to get rid of the GT-I9100 and then flash back to stock again, thus eliminating root.
Did Odin one-click back to stock not work for you? Because it sounds like you might have flashed I9100 bootloaders and flashing I777 bootloaders should fix it (which if I'm not mkstaken, the one click does include). Someone correct me on both points if I'm wrong , I'm simply conjecturing.

Yea I tried this, didn't work. I could probably get it into download mode, if I borrowed someones battery, but I am not sure why that matters if the computer won't detect it.
I finally got my phone to connect after cleaning it for like an hour, I just have to hold it at a certain angle. Everytime I try and flash the bootloader I get a fail though, I am using odin 1.8.5 and the bootloader here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18859438&postcount=199. After it fails I have to reflash using the one click no bootloader here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18859438&postcount=199. Is there any one click with the stock bootloaders someone could please link me to? Thanks once again guys
Both links appear to be the same.
Anyway, why would you flash the bootloader?

That was my suggestion, I thought it might be an I9100 bootloader that he flashed which causes the GT-I 9100 to show up on boot, and he wants it back at stock for returning. Again I could be wrong, and of course flashing bootloaders is very dangerous, especially with your faulty USB connection (I didn't know it was faulty when I posted before).
EDIT: Did you ever try rooting so you can go the Mobile Odin route (which would be much safer)?

This first, please. This will tell you which bootloader you currently have.
If the usb connection is lost while the bootloader is flashing, the phone will hard brik, and will require jtag repair to recover, which costs about $50 to $60. Therefore, it is necessary to know what the phone status really is before taking that risk.
If you determine that you really do have the I9100 secondary bootloader, then you put the I777 UCKH7 sbl.tar in the PDA slot of Odin3 v1.85. Or you could flash the I777UCKH7-CL503881 FULL Odin3 One-click Downloader which includes the param.lfs and the secondary bootloader.
Mobile Odin will not flash bootloaders or param.lfs

Honestly I want to help you buddy, but because you neglacted to read anything before you did this, this is your fault!
Yep very old. I cant believe that Koush hasnt figured something out for this yet. He fails too. CyanogenMod has always pushed ROM Manager, even tho most devs state not to use it.
OP: Get into download mode, and flash another, PROPER, kernel with ODIN or Heimdall.
Then use CWM to flash things.
I's in good mood today?

Wish you good luck with that. Jtag takes a fair amount of dexterity for the micro soldering, and some fairly expensive equipment. If you are unable to get it done yourself, the owner of Mobile Tech Videos will perform Jtag recovery for about $50.00.
I sincerely hope you know that the method for getting into download mode on I777 is to take out the battery, plug normal portion of USB into computer already running Odin, then hold both volume buttons and plug in micro USB side to phone.
If that really does nothing for you, then try mobile tech videos.
i777 soft bricked, boot loop never goes away...
I bricked my samsung galaxy s2 i777 by trying to flash a rom via rom manager. While it was installing it, it rebooted and got stock on boot loop.
It can go into download mode but never to recovery or beyond.
I tried every solution recommended out there, like flashing stock kernel, stock rom, different roms, siyah kernel, oneclick unbrick, and you name it. I tied ADB but it does not recognize the device, nor does oneclick unbrick.
Somehow I need to go ahead and wipe everything but since I cannot get to recovery, I cannot wipe it, and every time I flash something via Odin, it goes through the whole process successfully however once it reboots after flashing, it is in bootloop again. All I see is samsung galaxy sII logo window.
Any solutions?
Thanks!

insert usb cord

I'm not saying it won't work, but the fact that you've got a file from gs2root shows your inexperience and/or lack of concern for the well-being of others devices. There is no reason to take the risk of using ANYTHING from gs2root... you can get everything needed to do everything possible with this device right here from xda and have the peace of mind that it will work as expected so long as you follow the instructions.

[Q] Help me to brick my SGSII!

Hey guys!
I need a little help, I want to hardbrick my phone(for warranty purposes since i have some issues...last owner overclocked it like hell... )
I actually have a plan to do it:
I am running a 4.1.1 JB rom and Siyah kernel...
so first I am going to reset the phone to its factory state(flash stock rom, kernel ect.).. and now here's where I need help..
I need a method to brick it, that is undetectable that I've done any changes to it...in one word, hardbrick not to boot up and stuff!
Thanks!
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, I'm reading the forums for a long time, but this is my first post on it!
I once went into CWM, mounts and storage and formatted everything... Worked for me. Well if by worked you mean hard bricked

Easy, flash a stock 4.0.4 firmware and keep it on stock kernel.
then just boot into recovery and start wiping everything.
Dont know if this is undetectable though

But if I reflash the stock kernel, it will flash the stock recovery, or not?
The stock recovery has wiping options too?
I had a little research on other bricking topics(other phone brands) throught xda and most peoples advice was to flash corrupted files through Odin,
like a boot.img or a corrupted update.zip to prevent the phone from even getting into download mode, making it an excelent paperweight I think that is fully undetectable sinc they cant do anything with it, and I can then tell that it will not boot up, I did nothing to it, tested with another battery, never fell, never got liquid, it was in a case, it has not even a scratch on it I would not do this if it wasn't necessary...I'ts always overheating like hell(I really tried everything to prevent that), even on charger, this is my second battery, my touchcreen response is poor, the bottom buttons are also laggy...I just want replacement before it's too late...It might hold up longer but my warranty expires on 31. Oct.
Deleted.
I would try using a firmware not meant for your phone and pull the plug out half way through flashing it with odin.
Then hope it gets hot around the camera and wont come on.....lol

Let's be reasonable here.

umm.. i'm the second owner, of course first, i will go and see my provider, and ask them about the warranty(will not bring the phone in first lol)!
Basicly the warranty sheet has no personal information, just the phone type, the IMEI, and the date when the other bought it!
The issues are, serious overheating around the camera area...it can never be interrupted, if the phone is on, it keeps overheating after about half an hour, I don't know what is the ideal temperature of a working device but after an hour I can't hold my phone without a thick case(or gloves lol)! It heavily affects the camera, focus has major issues, sometimes it says "can't connect to camera", touchscreen can be a little laggy when its hot...When I bought it from previous owner I didn't noticed it because on forums people kept complaining about heating, but then I realized that I was an idiot...I tried stock official roms, GB,CSI, and now JB, nothing changed!

Hello everyone,
Hoping you can help me before my mrs cuts my nuts off. She asked me to update her GS2 (GT-I9100 on 02) and completly wipe the phone as she has had random apps appear etc etc.
I said that wouldnt be a problem as ive done alot on my GS3, though i am still pretty new to the Android scene (Previously iPhone).
So she was on Stock 4.0.4 XXLQ6 firmware.
I followed the guide to root from here as i was aware of the hardbrick bug in this firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
After that it was time for the Wipe data etc and flash the new rom. I chose JELLYBAM as its Android 4.2 with a mix of other things. Sounded perfect.
I followed all the steps EXACTLY from the Devs page:
http://www.igio90.net/how-to-install/
All seemed to be going well at first, got to select afew options etc. Then it said it was Extracting the package...This is were the problems started.
It was stuck at 2% for AGES, then out of the blue the screen just went BLACK/BLANK......Hmmmm i thought!
I have since been trying to source info from everywere about how to turn the phone back on but having no luck at all. I have tried all the Soft/Hard boot methods, ive left it on charge (Yes it gets hot near the camera) and tried all boot methods whilst plugged into laptop with ODIN loaded up.
Nothing seems to be working.
Any help what so ever will be much appreciated. This device was never previously rooted. Im gutted a it was all going so well...I shoulda guessed something would go wrong.

Are you able to enter download mode? If you can make sure you have samsung drivers installed! Also JellyBam rom is not only for i9100 but other models too, are you sure you had the right rom? If you can't enter downlaod mode then try a USB jig?

Thank you for your reply, Unfortunatly i cannot enter any mode what so ever. The phone is literally dead...yet getting VERY hot as its plugged in.
Was thinking about taking it in to O2 2mora and seeing what they can do. Damn.
If your still under warranty you should get a new motherboard. They won't be able to tell you've rooted it since it seems hard bricked.
Next time, get a custom kernel on it a.s.a.p and backup efs and make a nand backup before you start flashing roms.
Either that or stay away from 4.0.4 stock.

Thanks for your reply, I did put a custom kernal (Sirayh?) on it prior.
The phone was a year old august just gone! Not sure Samsung be interested.
See if you can get your hands on a usb jig.If that fails try for a jtag.
Samsung warranty should be 24 months if you need it.

So you did a wipe on a Samsung 4.0.4 ROM with original kernel? Then you have indeed hardbricked your phone. You said you were aware of this bug, so I can't figure out why you would do a wipe?

No i changed the kernal, but followed the guide posted by DEV to install the ROM. Guessing i made a mistake somewere down the line as the phone is bricked!!
JIG & JTAG....will these help solve my problem? Not really clued up on them though i have done a brief look around. JTAG services is not in my area.
NO, on hardbricked S2 JIG/JTAG won't be useful. You can check my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756242 for more info.
PS : the direct signs of this kind of hardbrick is a totally dead phone & back side getting hot (near the camera lens)

Is there any way to fix this or do i owe my mrs a new phone?
Just took it to a repair store and he said its knackered, but to be honest he wasnt much help...more interested in the texts he was getting on his phone!.....Typically a GS2...Im still pondering if he was taking the micky :silly:
if your s2 is still under warranty, just take it to the reapir service and tell them that the phone was on charge all night and didn't wake up in the morning
they won't be able to know what you did to it since it's completely unaccessible. If you successfully convince them, they'll change the motherboard !
PS : That isn't my idea but from what I saw in the hardbrick warning thread, most of the concerned people did the same trick ...

Please be more specific if you expect anybody to bother to help you.
When you say "can't really do anything" that doesnt tell us what you have tried and not tried!
1) Can you enter recovery mode?
2) Can you enter download mode?
3) Have you tried a USB Jig?
4) Have you removed battery for 30 mins?
5) What happens when you power on phone?

Sorry.
1) Yes
2) Yes
3) trying to find now what it is
4) For 30 mins no, for few minutes - yes
5) It starts and then i got some errors memo.process, process.acore and few others (can't remember now). I can get email, explore through home screens and menus, but can't call, receive calls, write messages, look up contacts or memos and stuff only going through screens. Maybe I could do a hard reset or wipe the phone, but then won't i brick my phone?
EDIT: As user Pilaf suggested (thanking him a lot!) I installed a new siyha kernel then did a full wipe / factory reset, seems everything is backing up from google account and phone is working..
So you're telling me that the official 4.0.4 has a hardbrick bug? Well that's great.
Should I just wait for the official 4.1 or can I flash for example the Siyah kernel and then start flashing other ROMs?

Come on man, he's serious, so let's answer seriously
@krnrdstrm : to avoid the hardbrick, just flash a safe kernel (siyah, speedmod, dorimanx, philz ...) and enjoy ...
PS : didn't you have internet in jail ? :silly:
emmc bug

[Q] selling phone

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-I545 that I bricked. Been trying for weeks to fix it. Seems to be soft bricked. Any way my question is, if I sell it as broken for parts, can someone get any personal information out of it? Assuming they can fix it.
Can you get it into download mode? Does it boot at all? If you can get it into download mode, You should flash the stock rom of what you had, what version os did you have on it?
Yes I can. I have tried Odin, heimdall and kies. Nothing seems to get the job done. Please answer my question. I am listing it on Ebay as used digitized. Don't really want to disassemble it and sell just screen.

If Kies processes are running in the background, Odin will be disabled.
Kill Kies crap (all Kies processes) with the Task Manager, then try to flash again.

Pretty sure if its soft bricked they'd need to flash over whatever you already have on there, thus wiping the phone.
Thanks
Know on NC5 there is a no wipe image available for odin. If that was successfully flashed in theory the device could be restored and data recovered.
