I just thought I would put it out there for new people like me who are not too familiar with the procedure to flash a new webtop version on our phones. I do not believe the procedure is outlined in an easy to find thread yet.
Things you will need
-Unlocked Atrix 4G ? (mine is unlocked)
-Moto-fastboot http://diamantephoto.com/fastboot.rar
-Latest Webtop IMG file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009
-Brain
First you need to extract fastboot and your webtop img file in the same directory. Make it something easy and short since you will have to access it in a command window. (c:\atrix)
Second you need to boot your phone in fastboot mode. Hook your phone via usb cable, hold the volume down buttom while powering up. When fastboot show up on your screen press volume up and it will put the phone in fastboot mode.
Third you need to open a command window and go to you fastboot directory. If in C:\Atrix you type "c:" then press enter then type "cd atrix" then press enter.
Lastly type these commands in order
"moto-fastboot devices" (just to make sure we have a connection before we get to business)
"moto-fastboot erase webtop" (this will erase your current webtop partition to make room for the new one)
"moto-fastboot flash webtop webtop.img" (this will flash the new webtop to your now empty webtop partition it will take about 2 minutes)
"moto-fastboot reboot" (voila your done, let your phone reboot into your rom and you can enjoy your newer webtop!)
All of this should look something like this

Here is a link to a guide to further customize your webtop if you want to. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397583
Thanks to dicksteel for pointing me in the right direction for the actual procedure!
There's something easier than this, Fruit Cake. Flash it from CWM and your done. Plus I think someone made an automated cmd script that installed the 2.3.6 Webtop. Thanks for the effort though, search button could be used...
I searched myself for a method myself for about two days, if you can provide the link to such a thread I'll gladly add it here. I found many how-to's for customizing the webtop (such as webtopmod or webtop2sd) but I couldn't find an how-to just to update your webtop version itself.

I thought that I made one, but I guess it was just a ROM upgrade without the webtop.
But. This: Fruit Cakes All you pretty much do is flash the Webtop zip in CWM and your done. It's just a easier and quicker way of what your doing here.
web top
i am running wet dream 1.3.0 and it is great i also have webtop2sd but is does not work when i connect my hdmi cable i have the webtop option but it does not to any thing but the entertainment centre works perfectly can some one help

Yeah, I don't understand why he points you to the fruitcake image, but then has you extract it from the zip file. CWM includes a command to flash webtop images directly, rather than going through what is described.
Also, when I first read it, I though it mean actually updating my current webtop image, not flashing a new one. That would be a feat so I don't have to apply my changes when a new webtop arrives (already on 2.3.6, so right now that's not an issue for me).

if for whatever reason you cant flash the zip file like me, im on gingermod 2.3.6 but when i try to flash the cwm webtop file it doesnt let me. says i failed the authentication that sam built into his cwm file. anyways i dont think cwm is easier than fastboot, they are both very easy. btw make sure you use moto-fastboot from this thread i think the fastboot that OP linked to is just the normal fastboot and cannot be used to flash large file like webtop.
Try searching this site....wft ..also he points you to a fruit cake file for cwm and then tells you to use moto-fastboot...Please can the moderaters delete this kind of thread.

it thought ide post this to help others on a few steps that i posted on the other forum on using the great guide/site streakdroid,to take a dell streak, mine is white, from att and go to 2.2 froyo....but was'nt very clear "to me" in a few steps.....so i'm trying to make it easier to understand for some.....
http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=92
this is the qdltool...called "repair tool" http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=15&did=8
....once you download it,and run it,it will create a folder with the qdltool and some files in it,you need to put the other files you download from the download page http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=15 into the qdltool folder"do not unzip the rom .zip folders like 1.6.0"just put them in the qdltool folder as in my pic
this is how i did it.....i downloaded all the files, put them where they needed to go....installed streakdroid 1.6.0 using the qdltool......you need to put the 1.6.0 and recovery and amss image in the same folder as your qdltool is unzipped into.......i also put a copy 1.5.1,1.6.0 and 1.6.1 .zip files in the qdltool folder and also on my sd card, on my sd card to have them to boot into from ....clockwork recovery.... later ,if i wanted to.
you need to make sure you have the qualcomm diagnostic 9002 driver installed right and connected in the qdltool before you run it......watch this video http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=78
you might have to try this sevearal times.....dont worry if its stuck and wont boot.....
alot of people take their phone back when they think its "bricked" when its not....they just freak out,and take it back before trying more options and or being persistant.
you just have to try some different steps....ofcourse all the files, drivers i9nstalled and in right location.......you can use infranview app to take screenshots of how you have your folder setup to post here if you need someone to better help you.....like this

ok, have you got Fastboot on your pc? if so, just find it on your pc, and open up a window, then hold left-shift and right click within that window(without actually clicking on an actual file), and click on open command line(or similar) then just type in the instructions, which look to be correct.
if you dont have the android SDK installed:http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
download and install the one that is pertinent to your operating system. install it directly on C drive. then open it up, doubleclick tools, and without clicking on any files, hold in left shift and right-click, andchoose 'open command line here', then type in the commands you had in your post. Hope it helps."

Yes qdl is the best method. Trickiest part is getting the pc to recognize the qualcomm driver but its not difficiult if u follow instructions.
Also if youre not looking for root and only want official 2.2, you dont have to go past qdl and mess with streakdroid/amss/recovery...u should be good to go once qdl succeeds.

For the life of me, I cannot boot back into ClockWorkMod to install the latest DJ_Steve ROM. I previously was able to flash my Streak, but now I can't anymore. Granted, I don't play with my Streak as much as with my Captivate, but still, I should remember how to do this.
Here is what I do:
I open CWM
I click on Flash CWM Recovery
I wait for the "success" message
Then I click on Reboot into Recovery
Nothing happens... I power down and boot back normally
I've also tried this:
I open CWM
I click on Flash CWM Recovery
I wait for the "success" message
Then I click on "Install ROM from SD Card"
I navigate and choose my update.zip file; click Yes, Yes, etc.
Nothing happens. I power down and boot back normally

Now I've tried the above by holding, after step 4, the Power and Camera buttons, the Power and Volume Up/Down button, Power and Vol. Down, Power and Vol. Up, etc. You get the idea ...
I either end up into the white menu for Fastboot, or end up into (what I think is) the stock recovery. There I choose "Install Update from SD Card" and then the phone waits forever at the "Detect SD" menu.
What is it that I should do? can someone please either shoot me or post some kind of detailed step-by-step, as if explained to a five year old
Thanks in advance!

I actually never could get ClockWorkMod to work on my streak no matter which version I picked. I got just as frustrated as you as I followed all of the given instructions and could never boot into CWM.
My suggestion (and the workaround I used) was to use fastboot and install StreakMod in the development section. It works 100% of the time for me and without any headaches.
With cwm I couldn't make a nandroid. Streakmod is the way to go.

My problem is, I run Windows as a VM inside a Mac (using Fusion) so I tried installing the Fastboot drivers and the rest, but I can't make it work reliably. It's like the drivers don't like being in a VM or something, each time I want to communicate with the Streak I have to reinstall everything.
So I tried installing StreakMod, and that also failed. Is there, somewhere in a post, the exact way to install StreakMod? Maybe I can make it work on someone else's PC...
I thoght there was a fastboot for MAC. If so, can you use it to push the recovery?

The android sdk has a version of fastboot I believe.
Edit: I DLed the mac version and do not see fastboot there. I found a mac version on this page, but I have no idea if it will work with the Streak.

As you may or may not be aware, I have been working on get CWM Recovery working on the Gen9's and basically make the layout of the Filesystems etc reflect some sort of Android Standard, In SDE mode at least. This is coming along nicely and I should be ready to kick out a Early Beta in the Next Couple of Weeks.
I would like to gather some input on any additional options people who like to see in CWM, Basically CWM Recovery Comes with a standard set of features but they maybe options that you have found useful on Device's you have had in the past etc.
I already plan to make it possible to boot into all modes on the device, that Archos Recovery, Archos Android, SDE Android and SDE CWM Recovery.
So Yeah, Give me Ideas and I'll seen If I can accomadate them
NOTE: Obviously We are just getting started on this and alternative recoveries will come in time, TWRP for example but one thing at a time eh :good:
Okay, Here's a currently "wishlist" of feature I think would be quite useful
Archos Specific Features
Include Stock Repair and Recovery Options
Include Stock Developer Edition Options
Reboot to Stock Recovery Option as a Fail Safe.
Reboot Stock Android
Flash Archos aos update
Upgrade Existing SDE Images to new structure
An the list goes on.....
Print system Properties
Print dmesg
Resize Partitions
Manage FS Image Location ( mainly nice to have on HDD Version I suppose )
Backup to Sparse Image ( I'm sure CWM5 Nandroid did this with ext4 partitions, god knows why they changed to a default choice between tar archives or dup differential blobs, What If I just a single portable file for my data partition backup!! )
Start Fastboot support ( could be useful for flash images rather the 'ffing around with edify scripts and update zips )
Power Off ( Suprisingly not include by default )
Full Touch Support with on screen keyboard and command line
I think those features will do nicely but If anyone has anymore then get involved!
The nandroid backup interests me a lot... its always nice to be able to "return" to when it was working if anything breaks.
Im watching this thread with interest good luck!!
TrOjAn
Maybe an ability to mount the whole system through usb? So one could DD clone the whole memory chip to PC. That could recover some bricks.

Hi There,
I think, You've got your wires crossed None of this is related to letama CWM Recovery./ If you haven't already you may want to have a read of this thread in the development section I won't go into details here because It's all in there!
I well aware of how fastboot works but to supporting the fastboot protovol allows the same workflow when it come to work with the AOSP source as any over device. which is
Build Rom
Flash the Partitions with fastboot
Reboot Into Rom.
???
Profit
When you control both ends of the conversation, We are free to do as we please.
Any news ... are there any files to do some testing?

Hello everyone; I've been desperately attempting to get CM7 installed on my Samsung Fascinate since its release, and I have been unable to do so despite it being 'so very easy'. Today I had installed CM10 on my HP touchpad with zero issues, so I decided to attempt to install CM7 on my Fascinate again.
While following this tutorial (http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/32474-cyanogenmod-7-for-the-samsung-fascinate-v710-9-oct-2011/) I came across a step that 'bricked' my phone. Below are the steps that I was required by the tutorial to take:
Root the device and install ClockworkMod Recovery. Instructions are available here.
My phone had been previously rooted; I purchased, downloaded and flashed ClockworkMod Recovery onto my phone successfully.
Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
I elected NOT to do a NANDroid backup; my phone was cluttered and I decided that if things wen't wrong, I'd like to reboot into a factory reset phone and re-root from scratch (where inlies my issues).
Format the system, data & cache partitions of your device.
I did, successfully.
Perform a factory reset.
This is the last step in which I was able to complete (for obvious reasons) after the factory reset was complete, however, I was UNABLE to get into download mode to be able to finish the ClockworkMod Recovery (all files for CM7 are still on my SD card ready to go). However, upon rebooting my phone I've noticed that my home screen manager does NOT function, and I am unable to navigate within my phone. It does NOT launch when I hit my home button, and I've been unable to do anything else with my phone.
Flash CyanogenMod.
I was unable to get to this step.
Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.
I was unable to get to this step.
Being a tech geek, I would not open a thread unless I've exhausted all options at my disposal; A quick Google search resulted in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1026746) in which I was sure I'd be able to get my phone working again. However, the files associated with it (EB01All in 1) are no longer hosted at the links provided. An extensive Google search yielded no results.
What I'd like to be able to do is to get my phone operational to the point where I can continue with the installation of CM7. Any and all help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I would use section 4 of that guide by droidstyle
And flash a jelly bean 4.2.x Rom

From what I can gather by your post, you're suggesting that I use section 4 of this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17050028
In which I would not be able too, considering almost all of the pertinent files that were uploaded for use cannot be found, and are no longer hosted. Anything else?
=========================
Update:
By some sort of miracle I was able to get my phone into download mode by using the SDK command; as of now I'm loading up CI500_VZW_EH03_GB_CM.tar.md5 as you've suggested. I'll update this post again once the process is complete.

okay so, why did you root the phone? that was an extra step that was unneeded. you just had to flash cwm_fix_cm7 or whatever and then boot into cwm and flash cm7. also, I'd flash EH03, that's gingerbread, you don't have to go back all the way to EB01 or whatever, no need to. and lastly, you shouldn't of factory reset it. it sounds to me like you have soft bricked it, does it boot up, even with errors? if you can bout it, try powering it off and then take out the battery and the SD card, then hit the vol - and power and it should boot into download mode. (also put the usb into the port and phone before) but like hhp said I'd go read droidstyles guide
What I don't get is why you'd want to use CM7 when there's a ton of great 4.2 roms available for the Fascinate (including CM10.1) that run very nicely

Situation has been resolved per the OP.
Hello, I am student at my university studying Computer Science. I work in tech support at my school. This is the first time I have modified the android os. The community on xda has been really helpful and knowledgeable. I have created an account to see if anyone else has done the same thing I have. Anyway read below for my post.
I am trying to change the recovery on my phone to twrp. Let me start out by saying I rooted my phone before on build number 130 (KIW-L24,Android 5.1,EMUI 3.1,C567B130,United States, Channel-Others). I used the instructions here and it worked http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/root-kiw-l24-usa-kiwi-t3305190.
I then decided to update through the huawei updater to build number 151 (KIW-L24, Android 5.1, EMUI 3.1, C567B151, United States, Channel-Others). It eventually got to a black EMUI menu with installing 0%. So I powered it off even though it warned against it. So my phone was bricked so I followed instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/help/bricked-honor-5x-t3328308 and my phone worked again.
Okay so now I want to root my phone so I follow the instructions for rooting. Problem is that I can not replace the EMUI recovery with twrp recovery. I am guessing that it may be because 151 is a security update.
I use these commands on adb with the twrp_kiwi.img in my adb folder(named .android by default)
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery twrp_kiwi.img
fastboot reboot
adb reboot recovery
So I wanted to see if I could put the old firmware back so I followed the instructions for bricked device. But the fastboot commands don't seem to do anything with the .img files.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot reboot
Yea so I am lost as to why fastboot commands arent working as it says finished and any advice would be appreciated.
Also is it possible to format the phone similar to a pc and use adb to flash the firmware back on.
I want to eventually backup my phone and put cyanogenmod on it.
... I am guessing that it may be because 151 is a security update

If your bootloader is unlocked, you should be able to flash what you want.
Have you tried reinstalling the Android device drivers on your PC?

And as you felt need to mention "I am student at my university studying Computer Science. I work in tech support at my school.", you should know first University mission is to teach you to search and exercise by yourself, to do things step by step and to guess by yourself what was wrong. ^^
Just one tip and advice : read up your own post carefully and you should find out what you've done wrong...

That was just background information unrelated to my post. I am currently trying to see if I can put the old firmware back to see if it fixes the problem.

TWRP works just fine on B151
plug in usb / Shut down the phone
boot to the bootloader (power + vol down)
open command prompt on PC
fastboot flash recovery twrp_kiwi.img
hold volume up + volume down + power till you see TWRP (about 14 seconds)
In TWRP choose reboot / recovery
Say yes to Root
recovery will reload / flash your rom
If you want to return to Stock use this >> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995315154
