Task Bar / Notification Bar is locking up on DX2 running CM7 - Motorola Droid X2

Details:
Droid X2 on Verizon
CM7
ADW launcher
I flashed CM7 last week, and from day one I've had intermittent problems with the notification pull down.
Occasionally, when I pull it down, it is unresponsive. You can tap on nothing, and the only action you can do is to close the pull down. A reboot fixes the problem, but it happens again. I've found no pattern.

Have you tried wiping cache and dalvik?
If that doesn't work, maybe try reflasing the rom.
If all else fails you could always sbf and start over.

I have been running cm7 for about 5 days now and haven't noticed any issues at all with the notification bar. I know it might not sound fun but maybe you should sbf and reinstall everything. Whenever dkz posted the updated tether file, that's what I did. I know I am new to this, so just a suggestion.
Anyways, I have not noticed any issues with the notification bar. In fact with this rom it just seems to snap down and up super fast!

Mine did this last night. I rebooted and all was well.

Yea, rebooting fixes it, but it always comes back.. hahah
I'll try a dalvik wipe and see where it gets me!

This is the source....
When you go to "swype" a message away, and at the same time you drag the status bar up(this is sooo unintentional, I've did it 1mil times already), or you "swype" the message away and hold too long in one position or something loads or something other than a complete "swype" of the message, It will lock up.
SOLUTION:
You don't have to reboot actually, All you have to do is restart the Status Bar! All you do is go to theme manager, Select a different theme, Load, then select the correct theme you want, Load, Then you are good to go ... takes literally 5 seconds to bypass it, as opposed to rebooting.
Dalvik, yata yata... non of that is the issue, is a minor error in the script. Need to add a "else" line in there somewhere.

I hadn't thought about changing theme to fix it... I like that.
I will say, I did wipe the dalvik yesterday and haven't seen it since. I'll play around with it more.

Or, there is a free app on the market that will restart your notification bar. https://market.android.com/details?...yLDEsImNvbS50ZW50aHN0b25lLm5vdGlmaWNhdGlvbiJd
That's what I use.
Ciao!

I had this problem a couple times as well. Thanks for the explanation and the link.

ADW EX, text messaging loading troubles

I just switched to ADW ex and I love it... no lag, nice features, however when I get a text message and press the messaging icon sometimes I have to press it 2 or 3 times before anything happens. This is not an issue of the screen not registering a press since the icon lights up when I press it, but nothing else happens after that about 1 out of 10 times.
Also, even though its checked in the options, I get no little red "1" on the icon when I have an unread text. Not sure if others are seeing these issues on the note.

are you talking about the message icon on your dock or homescreen?
Make sure there is an app associated with the icon. If the icon is on your dock....double tap the icon and go to edit. If it is on your homescreen, long press icon and then go to edit.
On the pop up make sure there is a program associated with the icon...like mine says GO SMS Pro in the gray box next to the icon. If there is nothing, then you have no app there. So then just tap the gray box and choose applications and then your messaging app.
make sense?

I was having this same problem, delete your messaging shortcut and recreate it, it seemed to fix the issue for me.

No need to delete. Just long press edit and assign application. You can even change the icon.

Yes you do need to delete. When editing it it shows the right information, but doesnt work, recreating it seems to make it work correctly, atleast for me.
I tried editing it like you said first, it was correct. But i'm a noob so maybe i wasnt looking at it right

OK, as long as it worked good for you that's what counts
welp, good call on delete and recreate. that worked great.
It was just really strange how it would work only part of the time. now its 100%.

adw challenges

Rooted nook on cm 7, after I started using it today, I lost my status bar and soft buttons. I did not go into settings and change anything. Any direction towards some help on adw launcher would be appreciated.
Thanks
Try reboot? I have lost my launcher a few times. My status bar once or twice. A reboot always fixes it. Not exactly sure yet what has caused it. If it happens again, get a logcat or dmesg and post it up for the cm7 team to check out.

try doing the obvious thing first and reboot? i had that problem with beautiful widgets and a reinstall of that app solved the problem. did u restore adw with titanium backup? if u did try reinstalling adw.
The status bar disappearing I believe is a CM7 issue in and of itself. I run CM7 on my phone and it has happened on the phone more than the NT.
Thanks for the responses. A reboot has brought everything back as it was. Enjoying my CM7 tablet and the support on this forum!
Did it force close, or did it just disappear with no error or warning?
If no error, it could have just been hidden.

I'm sure the regular version of ADW has this too but I have the paid version to go off of. You can set gestures to show/hide the "DockBar" and/or "StatusBar". Regardless of wether it was a gesture or a glitch you may want to try this if it happens again:
Long press on a blank space on the home screen.
Select "Launcher Actions" from the menu.
Select which ever you need: "Show/hide statusbar" or "Open/close DockBar"
Then just press the new icon on the home screen to restore the statusbar or dock.
Personally, my status bar disappeared without error. Nothing I did would get it to restart other than a quick reboot. Which I am accustomed to anyhow so it's not really a big deal to me. As for the launcher disappearing, it happened. No error. Reset/restart ADW does nothing. Again, this has happened on my NT, my phone, and a coworkers HD2 phone running cm7 as well. It's basically something that I (and her as well) have just learned to live with. Restarting is quick enough to bring everything back to life.
I've got the paid version on four devices (Two NT's, a HD2 and a G2) and have never seen this. Perhaps it's an intentional limitation in the free version... Just kidding. I'd send the author an email about it. Try the widgets I suggested, I'm curious to know if they work to remedy this. Also check that "Gestures" isn't turned on and configured in the Setting (if that's even in the free version).

Unfortunately trebuchet has stopped, fix, Dirty Bean 5.3

I got myself into trouble on my teamdrh Dirty Bean 5.3 gtab yesterday. I had been changing a few settings and returned to the home screen and got a "Unfortunately trebuchet has stopped" message. Clicked that and it just kept reappearing, after a few minutes a complete re-install seemed imminent, having just got all my apps in place I didn't want to do that. Checking out here and a few other places didn't yield much until I stumbled on a post that talked about the persistent search bar. Getting back into settings from the taskbar, going to Interface->Launcher->Homescreen-> Enable Persistent Search Bar was unchecked, checking it got rid of the message and made the tablet usable again. If disabling this causes the system to effectively become unusable perhaps this option should be greyed out or just not available. Anyway if you get into this situation this is how to get out of it, not brilliant, not earth shattering but hopefully will save you some time and a reinstall.

Your fix didn't work for me however it put me on the path to resolution.
I rcvd the same Trebuchet error every time I installed a new app. I modified the Launcher>HomeScreen>Homescreens to 4 from 2. Presto, issue resolved. The system was trying to place an icon on a homescreen for a new app and there wasn't free space on my homesreens. Increasing the number of homescreens resolved the issue.
Thx
It appears the launcher crashes when you have icons on the screen, which is no longer visible (because I reduced the number of screens without removing icons first or app added an icon, not sure about the latter). Increasing the number of screens, removing the icons from the screen farthest to the right, changing back to few screens, and all is well again. Thanks jobless and Efros.
When will the Dirty Bean beta be released?
this will also happen to you if you disable page indicators...

[Q] Missing notification bar

Evening Everyone,
Spent the day playing with rooting my tablet (longer than expected but, eh). Ended up going with this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877217 and installing an embedded clockwork so I didn't have to hassle with an imaged sdcard all day. Everything worked great, some flaws with the rom but it is generally really stable.
Started playing with the settings and all of a sudden I got a message that the system UI has quit working. Now the status, notification bars and navigation buttons have disappeared. So far I have:
Rebooted
Opened Trebuchet and cleared the cache (and rebooted)
played with the settings to try and at least get the tablet bar to activate, it didn't (and rebooted)
Anyone have any solutions on how to get it back? I haven't tried reinstalling the rom as I wanted to try you guys first before I go and redo everything yet again.
Thanks for your help!

try holding the power button until the menu pops up and there should be something along the lines of "toggle status bar"
I have an option to "Expand Notifications" and it does drop down the extended notification bar, however it disappears right after use and I still do not have status or navigation buttons.
It is acting like I have full screen time out activated, but I have checked over and over and it is not
Got it
had to set the full screen timeout, exit to home, go back into settings and clear the full screen and violin, it is back...
(those captchas blow ass!!! this is the fourth time...grrrr...)

Almost all apps (including launcher) crash

Hey all,
Just got my new OnePlusX and the first time I turned it on it prompted all the set up screens. I had to skip through them all because the keyboard would not stay open. It would open and then immediately minimize. Not a great start but no problem, I'll add my accounts and connect to wifi later.
Once I get into the 'home screen' I could see my status bar at the top but no icons and no way to access the app draw. I pressed the capacitive buttons and opened the notification slider which both worked and eventually got into the play store. From here I installed an app or two and got prompted to do a system update, which I did.
After the update I was hoping my launcher would work.. it didn't. The home screen is a black screen with the status bar at the top and no icons - the home button seems to do nothing when I'm in an app and press it.
I installed a third party launcher which worked - I now have a home screen and app draw. However, after opening an app, it crashes after a second or two (chompSMS does this as well as messenger, phone and contacts which are stock apps).
Does anyone have any information about this, what can I do here?
I know one option might be flashing a custom rom but being a brand new phone that should most definitely not be something I have to do to be able to call and message people..
Update: I ran a factory reset and all problems seemed to be resolved now. Not sure what was going on but I guess something happened that a reboot couldn't fix. I'll leave this post in case it helps others.
Have you done a factory reset after the system update??
