I have the stock messenger app on my Samsung Vibrant running an ISC port and the time stamp of messages that I receive is the time I actually receive it. Doesn't sound like a problem but sometimes when I lose signal or my phone dies, I'd be stumped when a message was sent to me. Because of this, I ask if such a tweak exists to make it possible for the time stamp to be according to the time sent, not received.

This is my first Android so I am not sure this is an Android thing or SGS II
I put my phone on flight mode at night. When I wake up I switch the phone back on and receive text messages. The time stamp on the text messages I receive is the same time I switch the phone on and not when they are sent. Any idea how I can find this out? My iPhone used to show the sent time rather than the received time.
I would actually like to know aswell. If theres a way of changing that?
The same for me!

Have exactly the same issue. If install custom SMS clients as Handset or GoSMS pro - it will do things even worse. too many sms messages. Updating radio helped a little, but sometimes I find sms messages are not received by my phone in time... Also person who sends text messages to me says there are no devliery reports for any sms she sends to me.
If someone know how to solve multiple and missing SMS messages - please reply!
Experienced this issue on some XT910's. Apply the ota update 2.3.6 and it will be fine.
I applied OTA update and still got this annoying issue. SMS app (default) seems to be more accurate now in terms of receiving texts, but still got multiple incoming text messages 3rd party Sms app will make it only worse.
Have someone solved this?
Could be a faulty Sim card.

I had this issue as well. I ended up grabbing a Galaxy Nexus and use the same sim card without issue.
I like the razr a lot, this is not vs post. Just thought I could help rule out the sim card.

I had the same issue but I eventually ended up realizing it was only certain people who it was happening too.. Never had a issue sending but I eventually figured out it was people I knew on a certain carrier that were the ones I was getting double msg's sometimes triple..
I'm with Rogers and my friends on Telus send/receive was fine but those on Bell I would be able to send fine but whenever they would send me a msg i'd get it twice sometimes 3 times. Eventually it just stopped and all works fine.
Whenever I send a text and I get a response, the response is showing above my original text. This happens if the text was sent in the same minute. Anyone else having this problem?

I typed the blue first, then the reply came in white but it shows it coming before my initial text.
i had that problem before idk it just corrected itself but if its a big problem i would just use gosms its pretty good
It happens. I wouldn't be to concerned about since the times are so close together. I'm guessing time discrepancy with text servers. Maybe...
But to make you feel better, I've experienced it but usually within a minute if it's a quick reply.
are you messaging someone who has a iphone? This happens to me all the time with my friends and their iphone 4's
Yes I am messaging someone with an iPhone but it happens with non-iPhones too. I am worried about it because it is not supposed to be that way and when you pay a decent amount of money on a phone you expect that simple thing to work.
I'm curious if it has to do with the time. I found that for some reason my clock wasn't auto updating with the network. I have switched it over and will be testing here shortly.
It has everything to do with the phones local time - it uses your phone to stamp outgoing messages, and the network stamps the time on incoming messages. If your phone is running fast, then incoming messages would appear to arrive before the original message (to the phone anyway).
Enabling auto update of time / date should fix it, I was going to suggest that until I saw you were already planning on trying it
Had this happen once check your time and region settings. Mine was off by an hour

I've had this happen on my Captivate and my SII as well. Seems to be a network problem perhaps. If you're rooted, I highly recommend ClockSync. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.org.amip.ClockSync&hl=en

Is there any patch or ROM that fixes the problem with the SMS TimeStamp showing the received time and not the sent time ?
If someone sends me a message at 6am and my phone is turned off..When i turn it ON (7pm) and receive the message it shows that the message was receives at 7pm, and not sent at 6am.
This is known as issue 2989

I'm sorry but I never experienced this problem =/
There are several way to do that:
1) download SMS sent time from play store
2a) use another SMS app like Handcent or GO SMS (if I'm not wrong there's a setting that show you the sent time and not the received time)
2b) if you are on ICS+ you can see the sent time in the details of the message in the stock z SMS app

This isn't a problem, but a choice in android development. All roms show receveid time..
You can follow the simple workarounds explained by Luca Vallerini to know the real sending time
So since about last night I haven't been receiving text messages of any kind. I've been running snowjb since it came out and fixed my apns when I needed to. Now I'm not receiving and my phone is reporting mine send but my friend beside me still hasn't gotten my text. I can make calls and receive calls and use the internet, clearly. Any insight?
Edit: went to at&t and got it fixed. Apparently the system changed my plan.
