how can i change the default row on dialer? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

how can i change the default row on dialer?
we have from left to right keypad-logs-contacts-favourits
i want to have favourites-logs-contacts-keypad
how can i do it?

If its stock dont think its possible. You need the TW modded launcher or use another one like GoLauncer Ex.

Might be possible, but would need to edit the coding for all of it. I for one am not experienced to do any of that! But I'm guessing changes in smali code?

Yeah, since it's stock it is not possible as cooza said but you can use dialers available in Market such as Dialer One or exDialer.

only ex dialer can do something like this, but not exactly
i,m suprised that there is not such a tweak for the stock dialer...

is there a different phone.apk ?

hi all
im playing with cm7
its awesome - bit faster than kj2
but i loved the functionally of the phone app in touchwiz
slide the contact to call or message , search bar on top instead of having to click through options etc
is there a way to get the phone apk .. i heard it relies on the TW framework
if so
then is there another phone apk i can use ?
thanks
The TW dialer will not work with CM. Look for dialer's in the Market instead. There are several choices.
E.g. Touchpal or Dialer One.
Touchpal:

I have 3 solutions:
You can try a custom launcher GO Launcher Ex is one of the best out there. Not only does it give you custom themes but also additional effects for desktop and app drawers believe me i've been using it for like 3 months and still find amazing things i can do with it
If you are rooted you can create your own MOD for changing icons and stuff by using UOT kitchen (Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen)
Else you can go to mods and themes section people have all sorts of MODs there for applyin. But for this you need to be rooted again.
Hope it helped

[Q] Search for a contact is not in English. In ICS

Hi guys. How do I add searching a contact in dialer on Russian letters? on the android ice cream sandwich. In onecosmic`s rom RC3.1 or CM9. Thanks
You asked this question in the general forum as well. My answer is there too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21757793&postcount=2

but without a keyboard. just a dialer? as in 2.2 or 2.3. How it is implemented in dialertabactivity.apk
T9 Dialers supporting other character sets
Try to search for "t9 dialer russian" in the android market and get another one. The stock dialers don't support what you are looking for.
I have not tried this one, but the description and pictures look promising: EIR Fast Dialer

Good look for. But in CM7 and in MIUI embedded dialer search for other languages. So in CM9 possible.
For MIUI, see http://forums.miuiandroid.com/showt...-GR-PL-SW-DE-HU-KO-VI-CZ-SK-SL-TR-HE-AR-PE-UK)
My point was along the same lines: Other teams (like MIUI) have chosen to replace the stock dialer with something else. It is quite possible that you do the same simply by downloading another dialer (or keyboard or launcher or ...) from the market. Choice is good and you can make it. Don't have to wait for it to show up in the ROM.

it is not down to the rom mate it is down to if the developer of the rom has changed a few apks and framework to support it. so for example if you was to go in android development most of the roms there now are multi dpi anyways..if you was to install cm9 or any aokp roms you will find they are multi dpi..try wanam lite...that is one...anyways it is down to choice buddy and the only way you get to find out is by trying..but your best bet is cm9 or aokp or try wanam or foxhound for mdpi
Yea I know that mate, I am currently on slim rom but I am wanting to go back to sammy stock but I hate the dpi at 240, I've been running aosp roms at 182 for so long 240 looks huge lol.
Thanks for the info, I will give wanam a try

no probs mate..just ask in the rom's thread if the rom supports it and most of the time nice people will reply to you...if i am not mistaken anyway most roms now on ICS do support that.
Well ive tried a few different sammy roms and all that come with stock dialer all have the same problem, no one has seemed to have looked in to making them multi-dpi which is a real shame :/
So now i have to figure out whether i want sammy rom that looks huge or aosp at 182dpi....
I cant even find any information on the net to decompile the apk's and change them to work with different dpi
Shame, real shame.....
If you don't mind going back to GB, Hyperdroid is great and multi DPI compatible (once you download petsasj's modified touchwiz launcher, anyway)
Also I'm pretty sure doc (doctorcete, one of the hyperdroid devs) made a post somewhere on XDA on making apps multi dpi compatible. I know that the hyperdroid devs put a lot of time getting apps like the stock calendar to be multi DPI compatible.

I feel exactly the same. Nobody seems to care about dpi issues.
The only answer I have seen is 'use another dialer' which is insane to me, as SURELY someone has a stock dialer with dpi adjusting working correctly on an ICS stock rom.
Depends how badly having the dialer the way it is annoys you.
Hello guys. I've had the same problem with quite a few ROMs. But finally i found that changing DPI on my phone no matter the ROM its as easy as to editing a line of text on the "build.prop" file.
You have some options to change density on your device.
1./ The easiest and safest is. Get from market "LCDDensity for Root" its free. And changes the DPI "on the fly" and the change is not permanent it will revert on next reboot.
2./ As root user you can edit /system/build.prop look for " ro.sf.lcd_density=180" and change it to the value you feel comfortable and reboot
3./ If you don't want to mess with system files directly, on the market there's also free apps just look for "build.prop" editor
or last ... wait until your ROM developer include the feature.
I Hope this could help..

Ive given up on looking for multi dpi launcher and dialer etc, all roms i have tried just use alternative's so ive stuck with 240dpi.
Reply to post above:
I wasent asking how to change dpi, thats the easy part, the problems start after as touchwiz launcher, dialer, calendar, calculater, email etc etc is not capable with different dpi apart from default 240.

Multi DPI stock dialer... where?

Hello,
for ages I haven't seen multi DPI stock dialer. Seriously nobody has done that?
I changed DPI in my NeatROM and stock dialer is now a bit crappy.
I do not want to use exDialer (this is crap application), DialerOne (same as earlier) and others. I'd use 3rd party dialer if there were any of them which could provide stock look and behaviour - but there is no any
