I did a search on PPCGeeks, XDA, and Google, and couldn't find any app to make the touch screen on the Titan interactive - similar to the way the Voyager touch screen works (quick vibrate when the screen is touched).
Is there any app like this? If not, can someone make one?
Thanks!
You would think HTC being one (if not THEE one) #1 Smartphone manufacture that would have SOMETHING similiar to the iphone or Voyager. The HTC Cube to me is very "amatuer" looking compared to the iphone and Voyager UI. Even microsoft couldn't make anything similiar...hopefully WM7 will blow us away.
I agree that the Cube looks pretty basic (that's why I won't put it on my phone, but I do have the TouchFLO).
But what I'm looking for is for the phone to do a very quick vibrate whenever the screen is touched.
That technology is called Haptics and it is much more than just the phone vibrating. Haptics allows you to physically feel a vibration exactly on the spot of the screen you are touching. Your phone has to have Haptics vibration built into it to use it and there isn't a single HTC phone out there using the said technology.

Indeed.
That said, I'm still interested in any app that does simply what whiteblazer01 asked for. I'm always looking over my fingers when I'm trying to dial a phone number. I'd be willing to give a simple touch-response app a shot.
Anyone?

I have been looking into this also. Especialy when i use the media player or just the main screen shortcuts.
In the mean time I was able to find a CAB somewhere in this forum that enables vibration feedback when you dial a number. It replaces the tone with vibration. I hope you guys like it. (Sorry I dont have support for it because I am not the original creator of this CAB)
Make sure that once you install the CAB that you soft reset after.
Hope you like it.
That's exactly what it is - Haptics. Thanks for the link. The program [email protected]$ put a link to (thanks!) works on the keypad, but it really doesn't feel like the Haptics system. O well, its still cool though.
I found a link to another thread on this forum for the same thing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1685449

I was thinkin about how we can make the phone vibrate when we tap the screen in any application instead of only the dial pad.
I came up with a theory that might give us some type of haptics feed back. It might not be exactly like haptics but it could make the phone vibrate.
There is a feature in our phone that can enable the phone to play a sound when we tap the screen for any reason. I was thinking why not replace the sound with just vibration like the CAB that changes the sound to vibration on the dialer?
Im not experienced at programming, but I am willing to take a shot into making this possible. Maybe some one can get a hold of a good programmer or some one good at registry tweaks to make this possible.
Just an idea

Great Idea [email protected]$, deffinately move forward with it, Ive been using the phonepadvibrate (essentially the same as what you posted) for well over 2 months now and love it. If you could do the same with the normal touch screen it would be amazing.
Yes its not full haptics, but in my opinion it really doesnt need to be. some sort of physical feedback (ie a slight vibration) would be great when working with the touch screen.

Carlos, I definitely agree, I would love to have that whenever the screen vibrated. Although, I don't know who would be willing to do that. I remember when I had the Apache (XV6700), I thought it would be cool if someone could make the LED lights on top into indicator lights for the shift and caps keys - which never happened (I don't know how, otherwise I would do it myself).
In fact, I wonder if someone can make a cab to have the shift and caps buttons make the indicator lights turn on whenever the buttons are pushed, not just when shift lock or caps lock are enabled.

It is very possible. I found other sources and they have some sort of program / prototype that can make this happen but it doesnt work on every tap of the screen.
What I want to do is make mine work on every tap of the screen but have the ability to turn it off and on to save power. Like turning the notification for the sound to play when you tap the screen on and off.
So far I have planned some steps to do it through the registry but since I am not an expert at programming like others are here it might take a while.
But any help is very welcome to complete this project and make it available for all.
As to changing the LED's on your phone. I think no2chem and some other guys found a way to customize your LED settings, but I'm not sure if it will be custom enough to indicate caps or shift. Maybe in the near future.

I am sure you probably have. I have the copy of the program that enables this feature. I believe it is extracted from a phone that has haptic feed back. But it is an executable.
This program is faulty. It doesn't respond on every tap and has performance issues. Other then that there hasn't been another one developed.
I'm trying to find a way to fix the issues of of the one that I found. Maybe by creating a new way to enable haptic feed back like I posted on previews posts, but it might take time to develop because I'm still learning how to mess with WM Reg. and programming.

i still havent tried the program out yet i really dont see the use for it
Let me know what you find out Carlos. I would agree with you that it may be better to have the phone vibrate maybe when any button is pushed instead of anytime the screen is tapped (or maybe have the option to choose?), and also have the option to turn it off. Lol, maybe we can call it "Taptics" instead of Haptics.
As for the LED's, I'll check with some of the other guys about what they can do. I do a lot of modding myself with other electronics (cars, motorcycles, game consoles, etc...), but I don't really get into programming all that much (although the logic makes sense to me).

Okay, so I noticed the phone does vibrate, however, when using the keypad while in a call, it makes a different tone, and does not vibrate.
Also, is there any update on ways to make all buttons vibrate (and configurable) when pressed? And of course, an option to turn the feature off?

I am not sure for all buttons but there is a CAB to make the phone vibrate when you press the screen. I tried it out and it works, but it's faulty and kills performance.
I'm still working on this project. I haven't had much time to work with it, but if any break through happens then I will post it up.
VAlert
Customize vibration on phone ring
This small program allows customizing vibration incoming call alerts.
Windows based phones vibrate either before the ring or constantly during the ring.
Having a short ringtone can possibly solve this problem, but with long mp3 ringtone the phone will constantly vibrate during the ring.
This program will enable Windows Mobile phones to produce short vibrations when the phone rings.
Vibration patterns can be easily changed by the user.
Possibly to match vibration patterns to the ringtone, so the phone will vibrate in a rhythm.
Very low (~4K) memory usage
This software is a freeware.
How to use
1. Install the CAB
2. Enjoy the program with default settings
3. The program is hidden by default. To display program window (if needed), run the program again
7. In Phone->Options make sure ring type is Vibrate and Ring
4. Edit script.txt to change vibration pattern. Every line in the file is a pair of vibration length and note pause
5. From the program window run Menu->Test to test the created pattern
6. Perform Menu->Hide to hide program window
What's new:
- More devices support, including non-HTC
- The installer executes the program upon installation (no soft reset required)
- No vibration on waiting call
- Support for incoming call ring mute (stop vibration)
- Silent start
- Even lower memory footprint - ~4K on standby (was 11K before)
sounds cool
gunna try now
you should make it so you tap the screen to show when u want it to vibrate instead of editing the .txt file
Edit: Great app but confusing to change the pattern
Edit2: lol doesnt seem to work on my vogue when i go to phone->options and press play its just a long vibrate
Ohh man i was about to post a thread on something like this. Thank you so much for making this!
Sounds nice. Will try it out. Thanks for sharing.

to save people the bother of working it out themselves, and to get everyone started...
here's my version of the Nokia classic message vibration
i can't hum it, so you'll need to try it, i guess!
Edit : Oh, by the way... is it possible to do something like this for recieving SMS / MMS / Email, or is that a different process altogether?

Yeah, that's what I wanted to ask too! Would be awesome, would be a very useful app, thanks. And yup, maybe an easier way to edit vibrates would be nice. However, it's cool now, for a version 1.
Future versions
Post your suggestions. I am making a list of changes for the next version.
Suggestions :
- a settings UI on the device (instead of having to pull the txt file off to PC and edit and then put back in on device)
- ability to change between multiple vibrate scripts (via drop-down menu or list?)
- if possible (?) ability to use vibrate scripts for SMS / MMS / Email / Other alerts
- vibe scripts that match pattern with the actual ring / message tone would be VERY cool
excellent little program, thanks a lot for the effort
if the other message alerts can be changed from within this (or even just another separate small app) it's just what i'm looking for!
and please can other people post their script efforts, it'd be good to have several pre-sets to start out with.
there might be a slight bug in this
a few calls have come through recently, the vibrate kicks in itself and the ringtone does not play for about 10 seconds or so.
also the programmed pattern seems distorted.
it might just be my device, as i'm noticing that S2U2's full screen call ID has been struggling to kick in when a call comes in these days since i started using Manilla2D as well.
it might be that the device is struggling to find the ID picture and the ringtone and the vibrate pattern at the same time, all the while trying to run M2D.
i'd check if it works correctly without all these extras running, but M2D and S2U2 are pretty much essentials for me these days.
anyone else care to help?

Does this problem happens when VAlert is disabled?

That's not a delay. By default (there is a registry setting to change it) the ring is delayed by 2 seconds. VAlert does not have that delay, so it will always start vibrating 2 seconds before the ring.

actually the main idea of slide to answer thingy is to avoid unwanted recieving of call i mean .....our phone has a capacitive tuchscreen which responds to even smallest of our touch if we have a direct answer button then take a situation like for eg: m with my gf and doing naughty things with her and suddenly my dad calls me and bimistakely the direct answer button gets pressed the call will get recieved but i wud not be knowing tht.....so slide answer prevents tht from happening....so slide to answer is very beneficial at such kind of moments....lol

That, and you can use the power off switch to end a call. Settings - Accessibility - tick power key ends calls.
Very useful for these reasons
1. Usually you have to wait for the proximity sensor to lightup the display then end a call.. in that time the person on the other end thinks i wanna talk more, or maybe he wants say something at the last moment and you cant hear it coz the phone is not on ur ear anymore (Coz ur waiting for the screen to light up)
2. The index finger is right on top of the power button when you are holding your fone, atleast mine is, so i can DC it instantly whn I am done talking. Samsung did some things right this is one of them
these two features (Recieve with home key & end with power key) has made life so easy!
I used this app, but I'd really like the HTC Call screen ported to the G3. Any way to do that?

i also have a tattoo(my wife is using it now) and it is real easy for me on that phone
I found these apps too laggy :/

If there was a complete replacement it would be faster, but there is not...

While I like the app you mentioned,
you just sent me remembering a old days incident which happened with one of my close friend, i think it was around1998, incoming calls were Rs.8.40/min in India.
His father owned a bus service, he used to go to fill diesel and sign slips on petrol pump everyday, mostly with me and very occasionally alone.
One day when I was not along, he was bored so he went to university area, he located a few friends and was at tea shop, discussing everything from how cruel heart his father is, he sends him on bike on rainy days too, father has millions but will drive FIAT only, I hate these qualities, why can't I go by car to fuel the buses etc, oh my GF, she su**s me so hard and wild, I am flirting with a new girl and god knows what not, and to his BAD Luck, his ODD Motorola phone had his father's number saved in voicemail button which got activated.
To cut the story short (i can't stop laughing now), He was without food for 1 day, while Bike and cellphone were taken back for 6-7 days.
While this friend now owns a couple of Big Education centers, He still lives with his father, I am sure both may have forgotten that
So no way to port HTC Call screen to G3? Somebody PUH-LEEZ do it?!!
Hi,
I created an app that will let an Xperia S/P/U light up the illumination bar when there is an unread SMS or a missed call.
Available at Google Play if you search for "Illumination Bar Notification"
link
For U model there is multi color support, and for S/P there is only the one color supported by the hardware.
The LEDs can either blink at various speeds or have a constant light.
There is an option to stop the light when the screen is unlocked or keep blinking until the SMS has been read or the call has been acknowledged.
I have only an Xperia U to develop on, but it has been tried on S/P as well.
If you have any problems let me know and I'll try to fix it.
Thanks to user sl1nk3 that figured out there was an API we can use.

*** Running on custom ROMs ***
If you run CyanogenMod or other firmware not from sony you may need to install additional libraries for this app to work.
First option: IlluminationReceiver
This solution works for all devices with illumination bar (S/P/U/SP) and does not require any sony libs at all:

This is just what I've been waiting for. Thanks a lot! Will try it now

It has option to blink already.
There is no standard android way for apps to be notified for incoming e-mails, so adding e-mail support would likely mean having to implement a full e-mail client.
Maybe there is another way, but not that I know of.

That is probably doable, but I think it would be best to have that in its own app, since it is not related to notifications
Dude!!! I'm Not Gay, But I LOVE YOU!!! U Gave The Proper Meaning Of Sony's This STYLE ICON!!!
These are the things I would like to have for future update!!!
1-Stop the blinking after certain time period (for battery backup)
2-Notification for
A-CHARGE COMPLETE (as this wont drain the battery, and keep it cool)
B-Whatsapp notification
3-Please change the icon of this app (add a cool one for this cool phone)
4-Low rate of blinking should be much lower I think (like each blink after 5 sec)
5-If its possible blink in different style (disco,rhythmic...etc)
THANK YOU AGAIN, I REALLY LOVE TO SEE THIS IS INSTALLED WITHOUT MODDING OR ROOTING MY PHONE!!!
THANK YOU!!!
The app is pretty buggy for me.
sometimes it works "lighting up" but sometimes it doesnt even light up and instead it makes my screen lights up -.-
i like it when my screen is pitch black when i receive something.
please fix and will reconsider downloading.
thankyou
I would love to see the source code for this if you would like to release it. I had been working on a version of it myself, but I only just started android programming.
Also if you need a cool icon I can make you one. PM me
id just figured out whats the bug is.
1) a- it doesnt light up when you check "stop light when screen is unlocked"
the screen goes on and the led strip stops flashing.
b- and sometimes it doesnt light up until the second msg comes in or calls
c- overtime when just received a text or two the screen turns on as well as the led strip lights up, then somehow the screen turns on like every 10 secs or so. (not receiving anything)
2) like i said before please make the screen stay off when receiving any notifications. my screen goes on after i installed this app.
3) please include whatsapp and email for it.
thankyou really appreciate your work here. well done
Oh looks so great!, i thank you for this kind of worf as other request i dont want integration with other apps, just that the led stops blinking after a certain time
Looks great, but as the notification bar isn't very bright I would also like to see the notification LED continuing to blink as well.
Also, would be great if emails can be included.
Thx man, continue to develop it for more stuff (not only msg, and calls).
I will consider some donation then ;-)

In the future, could it be possible to have custom flash rate? I think even the "slow" setting is quite fast.
Suprised this feature was left out at launch. But thankyou for this app!
Works great!

Great app! Really something that should have been there from the start!
What I would like to change are the following:
* no screen turn on when you receive an sms or call
* email support (for some)
* timeout - after the timeout it would switch to the notification led it's using now.
I'm not sure yet, but does the low battery standard notification still work? Or do you have to turn it off completly for this to work?
In a way a really like to think that this should only be used for calls, messages and emails.. maybe even not emails.. It should diferentiate itself from other notifications.. so this could only be used for those that you have to instanlty reply.. like messages and calls.. But I would still use the blue notifications for facebook, green for emails and red/orange for low battery. I think that this is how both things should work together.
Really great, light and cool app!!
But like some guys, my screen turn on when I receive an SMS
Moreover, sometimes the vibrations bugs: normaly, it's like "brrrrr, brrrrr" but sometimes I have "brr..." so in my pocket, it's not really noticiable
I guess will be nice if we discuss how to achieve some kind of notification on our displays without draining the battery. Smartwatch is good way to deal with it, but let's keep to the phone itself. Most wanted feature is to have recurrent notifications. I invested some time in trying some apps and these are my "5 cents":
- Always On Edge- this is the program I prefer to use so far and will explain why. It lights up the edges and could be set to be recurrent. With many settings about almost everything. Just don't forget to save the settings after changing things. It works most of the time, but it's a bit tricky- don't let the system to control it (to stop it)- you can do it from battery management. And from my experience- use the power button to turn off the screen (or just leave it to turn off). Using some additional programs (like JButton and Fluid gestures) activate more secure mode (could be wrong) and prevent the notification blinking. The good is that it's relatively battery friendly.
- LED Blinker Notifications - always working, nice customization. Shows colored circles on the screen in Awlays On Display manner. Can set different color for different app and random position (to avoid burn-in). The bad- spends a lots of power and the battery is going down fast. And is way pricier. I bought it anyway to test it, but probably will stay unused.
- Glimpse Notifications- works (almost) always. The problem is that will either light up your screen (drains battery, because wakes up the CPU) or makes a vibration or a sound. This could be annoying for everyone.
- integrated Always On Screen feature in our phones- works fine, shows icons with the notifications. Nice solution, but spends about 1% battery per hour (on my phone). This is the whole consumption of the phone of course, but I think that this is 1.5-2 times more than regular consumption. It's good solution anyway.
I use the following combination:
- Always On Display with clock + notification icons
- Always On Edge (rainbow crashes around the edges + clock + notifications)
- phone is in DND
- Xiaomi Mi Band 3 vibrates

What is the purpose of DND? Avoiding sounds and turning on the screen?
P.S. In my previous opinion I meant AOD- Always On Display (not Screen ). Sorry for the mistake.

I don't want to hear anything from the phone. Just want to be notified in a visual (AOD + AOE) and haptic (Mi Band 3) way.
I assume screen or display is both fine
Hi
I'm also looking for a solution since I miss the LED so much. I'm currently with Always On Edge, but I'm not happy with it. It drains the battery quite a lot, even when I don't get a lot of notifications.
I had days where the stats do report 90 min cpu including 50 min in background. It's quite unrealistic that it had to blink that long during the whole day.
If somebody has a better alternative (also playing together with the fingerprint unlock), please let me know.
Better to check the mAh that are consumed, than the CPU and the screen time. It's located in Power Consumption Details -> Software and is not so bad. But probably depends on how much time you spend away from your phone. You can use AOD and put the phone with screen down, it will turn off screen until you flip it and see if notifications are available.

Hi there!
Is there a way to change how the vibration works? Sorry for the noob question.. cheers!
@kimirai1027 for some Apps e.g. WhatsApp you can specify vibration intensity:
Settings -> Notifications -> WhatsApp -> More Settings -> Vibration: Off/ Standard/ Short/ Long
@doemEINS Thank you buddy.. cheers!
I had tried to use ALWAYS ON EDGE (among a few other apps) but no matter what settings I tried, etc. I could not get it to work. That being said, I found another app on the Play Store called ALWAYS ON AMOLED and it works like a CHAMP.
It is super customizable and seems to be very similar to ALWAYS ON EDGE so if you are looking for something like this to use as a visual for notifications then I recommend this app. Just search for ALWAYS ON AMOLED on the Play Store...
damn huawei, in the p30 pro are a lot of missing features.
don´t look on samsung, you might get wet eyes, however they want the same price, lol.
oh yes, the laica optics are good, but still, the software is a piece of ..... ( I am not sure, can I say this here?) you know what I mean.

You are absolutely right! Nothing to add from my part, it is exactly what I lack in my P30 Pro: the software is horrible.
On the other hand, guys what is wrong with just using the AOD? It doesnt drain the battery like the Samsung one...so...? I use that and I am ok with it.

How you set up notify buddy?
notifybuddy not working on my p30 pro with android 9. install, allow access, choose apps for notification ... nothing happens when new notifications are there. maybe we can do something with tasker? turn AOD on when notification?
I find it unbelievable in this day and age when manufacturers decide to remove a functional Led yet don't replace it with anything half decent for notifications.
You know when you plug in your charger, those green bubbles appear? A notification like that would have been nice.

That's the one thing I miss from my S10+, using good lock to have the notification light around the hole punch, most third party applications from the play store need ridiculous permissions or use a stupid amount of battery

Yep, they are major battery hogs like you said.

Great thread guys..
Can someone please share thier AOE settings/configurations if it's working fully for them.
Its not working at all for me, and I'm usually a person who enjoys playing with settings until I get a satisfying result.
Would really appreciate it.
