My phone is S-ON, this means that in order to install a kernel i need to use the FlashGUI app. I tried using a new 3.6 sense ICS rom, so i flashed the kernel and applied the zip in recovery. However, i didnt know that the ROM would not work with S-ON, so i tried flashing a new rom (d3rp rom to be specific) That worked, but when i booted up i was stuck a black screen, I think this is because I am on an ICS kernel. Next, I try to do a nandroid restore, but that doesnt seem to work. Whenever I nandroid restore I get stuck at "restoring recovery partitions" - it just stays there for so long, i waited half an hour then i did a battery pull. tried flashing the rom, no luck. What should I do? thank you..
Do a full wipe then install the derp rom.,

Ive done that, I get the HTC logo for a few seconds then a black screen.
go to your pc or laptop and xtract the boot.img from your zip file next copy into the same folder that your fastboot drivers are in and then boot the evo into bootloader and then connect your usb cable now press power and you should now be in fastboot usb next on your pc or laptop your going to open up your cmd next you will typ your command to get your fastboot drivers working for example on my laptop i will typ cd\rootevo3dnew press enter now my fastboot drivers are working next i will typ fastboot flash boot boot.img press enter this will flash your boot.img this will allow your evo to boot next you can disconnect from usb next on the evo press volume down and the press power to reboot hope this helps

I used a slightly different method but i pretty much did what you said here and help from another guy, thanks!
Hi hope you can help.
I have been running my flyer rooted on stock honeycomb with no trouble. I wanted to install Dexters JB18 rom, something went wrong after the install and now i can only access hboot screens, flyer wont boot, and recovery (was cwm with no issues) just brings up htc screen with nothing else.
I have tried flashing several recovery/boot images via fastboot, without any noticable effect. I get the messages saying image is written okay from command prompt but rebooting device or attempting to enter recovery just brings me white htc screen.
I have run getvar cid and got the result htc001, but attempting to reboot using adb gives the result device not found.
this is the info on the hboot screen
****unlocked****
flyer pvt ship s-on
hboot-1.11.0011
microp-0950
radio-3822.10.08.07_m
emmc-boot
A few threads here look promising, but i cant access them to be sure or find the right links, such as finding RUU type etc altho I dont think Im that far along until i can flash and get in to a workable recovery?
further
by the way, i think i went wrong by failing to flash boot.img as i have s-on. after install of rom via cwm, flyer got in a bootloop (ended up having to bootstrap battery as it drained). since this, flyer would not boot. Entering recovery just caused a quick glimpse of recovery screen before bootlooping. Since this i now can only get to my hboot screens, attempting to boot or recovery just gives me the wgite htc screen indefinitely.
adb driver?
ok, i think my issue is with adb.
with flyer in hboot so options are
fastboot
recovery
factory reset
clear storage
simlock
image crc
when i check device manager, it is listed as ADB interface, expand that and you get 'bootloader interface'
put flyer in fastboot mode, i see
bootloader
reboot reboot bootloader
power down
and the device is gone from device manager completely.
in either mode, when in adb running command 'adb devices' i get nothing, although running commands such as 'fastboot flash boot boot.img/recovery.img i get a success message after writing. 'fastboot reboot' will successfully reboot the device but it still does not boot up or enter recovery when attempted.
am i missing an adb driver or something?
my device is always booting to fastboot and shows me only a blank screen
i was running android 2.3
i tried to install clockworkmod recovery and i lost my all recovery
then i tried to install twrp recovery trough adb and after that my device went to fastboot and now my device is always at fastboot
i can pull the battery out because its like that like iphone
fastboot commands are working and my android is identified by pc
can you please help me to get my device back to working condition
thanks
I have HTC desire 816g....I stuck in recovery mode after locking OEM via command ,and after trying to flash stock ROM but not succeed....now I m on same page from a long time....any suggestions....
TLDR: phone stuck at boot screen. Still can access fastboot mode and twrp recovery mode.
I shouldn't have dived into these stuff without proper knowledge. I wanted to root my phone (redmi note 5a lite) so I unlocked bootloader and ran fastboot flash recovery (attach .img) with bugjaeger app and otg. But after pressing volume up + power, the stock recovery was showing. So I ran fastboot flash recovery (attach .img) again. Still didn't work. So I saw a random tutorial (dumb idea) and renamed the img file to recovery.img. then I ran fastboot flash recovery (attach recovery.img) then ran fastboot boot (attach recovery.img) then twrp opened and I thought everything was good. Then I clicked reboot>system in twrp and my phone is stuck on boot screen. Long clicking the power button gives a little screen off and on and it gets stuck at boot again. I still can access fastboot mode and twrp recovery mode by draining battery and then using bugjaeger app and otg.
