With Megaupload being seized by the governement and public access is restricted I am unable to locate the files i need to put into my sdk tools folder so i can root my freshly unlocked photon. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to obtain these files so i can root and install clockworkmod as well. I havent checked to see if the clockworkmod install files are on megaupload as well on the off chance that they are lockated there as well i would so love the person who can hook me up with the tools root files and the clockworkmod install files.
Thanks a million to those that read this and to those that are able to help this guy out!

thank you for considering using my application. if you would like to post in my thread, that way you will get the most help from those that are following it, or have already done it, that would be most beneficial for you.
however,
if you want me to walk you threw it, you can hop on the irc channel irc.zifnab06.net channel: #erisroothelp and i am almost always there.
or,
just extract the ema_full folder to wherever you want, my app is dynamic and doest care where you put it. then grab the update file that is up there as well, and replace the old application file with the new one. make sure you have .net 4 installed. i have a download for that as well in my thread. grab the drivers download from my thread and extract those to your desktop. then follow the instructions in my thread for installing those drivers for your phone on your pc. after all that is done, then just start up the app. run backup apps, then follow the root steps 1 - 3, and make sure you read and follow all directions.
where did you get the evil eris 2.0

OK...I'm totally new to ROm flashing and I went ahead and dove into ChuckyRom but didn't know I was actually flashing to a different rom...I was just trying to get Android to work - which now doesn't...
without someone pushing my thread aside and saying "ah, damn noobs cant read!"...I've searched and haven't found how to restore the original ROM for the HD2...I'd like to go back to stock.
So, someone, anyone - please point me in the right direction.
Thanks so much in advance!!!

A easiest way is; to download the RIGHT stock ROM version from the HTC website. (Use your S/N!)
Open that file with WinZip, extact the "RUU_signed.nbh" and rename it to "leoimg.nbh". copy it to a SD card who is bean format (Fat32) ( Don't use a 8Gb SD or bigger!). Place your SD into your device and Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
Follow the instructions on your device.

THANK YOU!!! I'm back to normal!! woo-hoo!
I thought it would be so much more difficult than that. Now that I know how to do it - I can explore more ROMS without fear of not going back to stock!
next stop... android!
THANKS SO MUCH TO ALL WHO HELPED ME OUT!!!
I have spent the better part of 3 days on these forums. Tried Super1Click to no avail then followed instructions as in the Noob Guide and everything looked good.
The phone found the update.zip file, did the whole reinstalling pkgs thing and rebooted.
But I can't find the superuser icon and when I downloaded Titanium backup it said I was not rooted.
I have the 959 UVj16 with Eclair 2.1
I would greatly appreciate some assistance. I honestly spent untold hours trying to find the answer before I asked.
Why go through all that. Just use z4root found here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/12OzPNJZ/z4root130.htm
Download from your phone.installs like a normal apk app and open and click root. Installs root and then all done.simple!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
That link says not valid on phone but I can download to PC, where do I put it so that it will install?
1. should I remove uninstall.zip first from previous try
2. do I need to do anything with this file, ie. move from downloads to somewhere else?
nevermind, downloading from softpedia.
One click simple! Worked perfectly, thanks a million!!
did you rename the update.zip file? If you did, you shouldn't have.
You just had to place the file on your sd card.
yeah, OP PM me what didnt work on the noob guide.... please explain everything you did. There is no reason that file I uploaded should not work just fine. I need to make certain for others though (nobody else has said anything to me with an issue).
I figured I would start a new thread since now we have 2.3.6 rooted on our Milestone X2's. To note this thread is about the Milestone X2 NOT the Droid X2. Unfortunately we don't have our own forum and this is the closest one for us to use. In saying that, I'm a little confused by various posts, has anyone gotten Recovery working on the Milestone X2, if you have would you be able to post a reference to this? Thanks much the community has been awesome.

Have you tried this manual method?
The thing is it does the same as the apk. So if for some reason the apk files are not getting placed right then this will help.
I was able to get recovery to work on my phone. Skiwoodwiva determined that the CM7 MOTO bootstrap APK was what did it. One thing that hasn't been mentioned a lot is that i read somewhere that you install the .apk to your app draw. Then in the app itself you press the "install recovery" button. Don't press the reboot recovery button. Power down phone and take out your battery. Plug your battery-less phone into wall charger. Phone will automatically boot up and go into bootstrap recovery.
This has worked for me every time i have tried it. I have been able to make a nandroid back up of my ACS Milestone X2 2.3.6. I would post a link to the apk but i don't know how or if i can since i am still nee to the forum. Skiwoodwiva, do you have the ability to post the link?
manibengood
I am not sure what made yours work. If you use the cm7apk on a DX2 it won't work .
I used this method and was able to get recovery working, thank you.

Im sorry but im having a hard time understanding the manual instructions. I just got the milestone x2 coming from a htc desire. Ive never used used es file explorer to set permisions. Ive downloaded the zip and have extracted the files but im lost after that.
Get Root explorer it's easier. I'll be back.
Edit
Just copy and paste. A long press on the file is like a right click. You are pasting files and using their location in the zip to know where to paste.
So in looking around for information on rooting and ROMing for my Stratosphere 2, I ran across opensource.samsung.com where I was able to download a zip file called SCH-I415_VZW_ICS_Opensource; contained within this file are 2 tar.gz files named Kernel and Platform.
My question is this: What exactly can I do with these kernel and platform files given proper instruction?
Thanks in advance!
compile rom
Judging by various guides, I can't create a ROM without certain files from the phone, and I can't get those files without root access -- for which there is no solution currently for my phone.
Is there anything else that can be done with it, or is that what it's for?
