Hi,
Some months ago I flashed CM7.1 with no problems, apart from a kind of slow GPS.
But, last week my Legend refused to see my SD card. Bought a new one, 4Gb, and partioned it with MiniTool, 3.5 Gb FAT32 and 512Mb ext3. After normal boot my Legend did not see the SD card. Partioned it in Recovery mode, 512Mb ext2/3, where my Legend saw the SD card. I use a2ext and Go Launcher.
Since I use a2ext, 1 out of 4 times I reboot my Legend, my Legend wants me to setup Android again. Meaning I have to enter the language and Google account to use it. After that, my widgets do not load properly, but everything else works. I can use all apps and replace the widgets. So after 10 minutes my phone is back to normal again, but it is a pain in the *ss recreating the normal things again.
Does anybody know what is the problem here?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Regards, Wim.
Try wiping/data factory reset, wiping/cahe, advance > wipe dalvik cahce, mounts and storage > format/system reinstall your CM7.1 and boot up, then put your SD card in.
Thanks, I will give that a try. My apps are on ext on SD, if I reinstall CM, can I use Titanium Backup to restore my apps and data? Haven't done this before...
Regards, Wim.
There were two versions of Go Launcher Ex installed on my phone. Removing the old version solved the problem.

Hello
I downloaded an app called 'To Do List' and it created a folder called "download manager" on my SD card which i have since managed to delete.
However, everytime i boot my Hero, it takes a long time to start and always gives me the message that touch input settings is not responding and i have to force close. And then my keyboard does not work. Also, since installing this app my phone does not recognise the SD card. It says "Unavailable" in Settings > SD Card & Phone storage.
I put my SD card in a card reader and connected it to my PC and it recognises it and this is where i deleted the "download manager" folder.
Since then i have installed two different Roms and both are still giving me the same problem.
I have since deleted the app but i think the problem is there is a file called "download manager" in:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
When i click on it, it gives me the option to "Clear data" . So i click on that and it tells me it will permanently delete all of this applications data. However, when i reboot the phone the file is stiill there and running.
I'm no expert but i think this is what's causing the problem. Is there any way i can delete this file so it never comes back cos its really getting on my nerves that my phone isn't working properly.
I have done a factory data reset several times but still i have the same problem.
I have done the reset through Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset.
When installing the new rom i have done data wipe, cache wipe and dalvik wipe.
Still the little ****** doesn't go away.
Can somebody please help?
Thank you.
try an Sd card wipe as well when flashing a new rom.. including wiping your ext partition and then re forming.. that is if you are using an ext apps2sd
i'm reluctant to re-format my SD card because i have a lot of music/photos etc stored on there. i do have them backed up on my PC however it does take a long time to drag them onto my SD card.
I deleted the download manager file from my sd card so i'm guessing the problem file it stored on the phones memory.
Is there no way to delete files from the manage applications part on the phone?
Well I think you should give it a go.backup your photos and music and then re Copy them. Even if it does take up to an hour it maybe better than living with the annoyances

Do you use apps2sd using the ext partition. Not wiping that would be a problem when flashing most new roms

i re formatted my SD card and flashed a new rom and all seems to be ok now. took me a while but it seems to have paid off. Thank you so much for your help.

I have recently upgrade to android 2.3.3 and am using EWJET as a rom.
I cannot access the SD once Android OS has booted. All apps and the system/settings says SD Card isn't mounted. Tried multiple installs, nothing works.
All 2.1/2.2 Roms are fine.
If i tap back during start-up and access xrecovery I have normal access to the SDcard and can flash packages etc. So the phone is able to access the card ok.
My SD card is the 8gb that came with the phone and isnt partitioned in anyway.
However in the past I did have it partitioned, but not now. Incase I am installing 2.3.3 and the rom wrong, ill tell you my steps.
Factory Firmware 2.1 flashed
rooted, busybox and recovery installed
Flashed X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_only_kernel_baseband
then install the EWJET rom as per his instructions..
I pray I am only doing the above steps wrong as I desperately want the SD working on 2.3.3.
Any help would be appreciated.

you try pulling it out and blowing on it like an old nes game...
jk smiles but have you tried perhaps throwing the sd into a computer and just formatting with different cluster sizes or in general formatting the card. Might need to use an adapter.
Happen the same thing to me but with wolfbreaks rom... some people told me to re-flash the rom but it didnt work. The funny thing is the the sd card will work on any other device, and any other sd card will work on the phone... havent try re-formatting the card cauze i dont have the adapter but it should work

you might want to get an adapter. A while back i tried setting up a sd-ext partition on a 4gig card and long story short the only way i was able to run a format that gave me back the 4gigs was throwing it into an adapter
Had the same thing when I updated with stock-2.3.3.... At the time I had it partitioned in 2 partitions...
I connected the phone then with my pc, and there it was, alive and well.... So I backed up the entire card, that is, the first partition, where all my data were; I powered off the phone, took it out, found a adapter, deleted the 2nd partition with Partition Wizard Home Edition Minitool, made the sd-card 1 partition only, formatted that partition, and then I copied all my backed-up data back to the card
Then I put the card back in the phone, booted and voila: the card was recognized again by 2.3.3....! and now it functions ok!
Hope this helps, greetz, good luck,
kwarkje

Anything new on this?
for me it is a little different. The card that came with the phone works fine with the GB update, the thing is that I got another phone, this one came with a 4 Gb card so I took the one in the x10 with all my pics and put it in my new phone and put the other new card in the x10 but it doesn't recognize it...
I've tried with 2 different cards, in xRec i can read it, back up, etc, but once in android its like there's nothing there. Tried formatting it with no results....
What could it be that it reads the original x10 card and no other?
Ive got no idea, but its annoying. Im gonna have to go back to 2.1 which sucks.
We need to some how figure out whats causing this. Ive tried everything.
2.3 seems to be the problem.

I have 2.3 and the card that originally came with the phone (16Gb SDHT) works fine, the thing is that it doesn't read any other card.

Today i found a workarround using DISKPART (6 years later hehe)
Note that this will wipe your storage card so BACKUP !!
Hold [Win + R] and type in : diskpart (or launch cmd as admin and types: diskpart )
Every lines should be followed by enter key.
list disk
select disk *
(" * " is the number of your drive. be carefull do not choice your hard drive number which is commonly 0)
clean
create partition primary
assign
format fs fat quick
exit
Tested and work fine on windows 8 (but should work on 7, 8.1, 10)
Thanks Hope i help even 6 years later !! cheers
Hi all, I've been experiencing a problem with my Aria recently.
Here's what I did:
1. I wiped everything (data, cache, dalvik cache) and install a new ROM with drowning's kernel 8-9-1.
2. I used S2E or Darktremor to assign dalvik cache and apps to SD-ext.
3. I started to install apps and move them to SD card if possible. Everything was fine when I had ~ 90 apps (I'm a heavy user). But when I reached ~120 apps the phone went nuts. It would automatically "soft" reboot (i.e. not reboot to the "quietly brilliant" HTC splash screen but to the circling Cyanogenmod animation) and keep rebooting. I noticed that in many occasions it was able to load all apps on SD but after that it freezed and rebooted.
Memory status was fine. I used a 16GB SD and assigned 1GB to SD-ext. Phone memory always had >150 MB free. SD card always had >10GB free.
I have HBoot 6.02.1002 and I used Revolutionary to root and make it S-OFF. CWM version is 4.0.1.4 for AlphaRevX. I am able to repeat this problem on two SD cards (one A-DATA class 6 and one PNY class 10), S2E and Darktremor's script (using App2SD GUI), and all recent Cyanogenmod 7 nightlies.
Is this just because the phone can't hold too may apps? Or anything else? I used to have Cyanogen 7.1.0 RC and ~200 apps on my phone and it ran just well. I determined that I wanted it to be S-OFF so I flashed AT&T's Froyo ROM and went through all the steps. Now I have this problem.
Thanks for your advice.
That's really odd.I usually have 120-130 apps using dt with no problems. With the exception of when I tried running the vm heap at 48mb.which eventually produced the same scenario. Any other mods you've applied?

Unless I am miss understanding number 3 in your steps that is your problem when using s2e or DT you do not need to manually move the apps to your SD it is done by s2e and dt on its own. If you are going through and moving them then you are actually moving them the fat32 partition instead. Just install all apps to internal memory and let S2E or DT handle the rest. I think this will fix your problem.
Edit
Make sure your set up so all apps install to internal memory not SD.

+1 - the OP said: "I started to install apps and move them to SD card if possible."
You shouldn't be moving anything to the SD card. S2E or DT takes care of that.
Thanks. This makes a lot of sense to me. I'll try your suggestion.

First of all I want to say hello
I've got some problems with partitioning sd card.
I'm owner of U20i, 8 GB ADATA class 10 card and I've got MiniCM7Pro v21 installed on my phone (through cwm v3.2.0.0-r5). Rom is working correctly.
I wanted to have more space for apps and more ram. I followed this tut:
tinyurl: l2kpno (I can't paste link because I'm new.)
Everything seems to be good but after reboot phone report card as not formatted. So I tried to partition card through cwm - this same effect. When I plug card into reader I can copy files etc. also I checked card surface - no read errors.
Am I doing something wrong Please help me.
Hi
I had the same problem with this rom, cant make it work.
But seems that titoms found a solution.
Check it here.
Hope this helps.
Thx for reply.
After deleting swap and resizing ext to free space phone recognize card and ext also works. But there is one problem: I wanted swap.
If it is problem only with this rom maybe I should try another one, original CM7 for example?
U r welcome.
Sure, there's a lot of roms for u to try. U should pick the one that fits ur needs.
I'm not an expert, but, why do u need swap?
I want to have more ram, for games.
EDIT:
Because installing original cm is quite complicated thing I decided to install GinTonic.SE by slade87.
So I did system, cache and data format; full wipe; cache wipe; dalvik cache wipe; battery stats wipe then I installed modules for gintonic and at the end gintonic.
After reboot phone freeze at Sony Ericsson text. Every time. Why? What should I do now?
EDIT2:
OK. I got back to stock se rom by flashing phone with seus. Then I rooted, installed cwm and made that 3 partitions on sdcard (fat32, ext2, linux-swap). After that I wiped all things (except sdcard and sd-ext), rebooted and installed gintonic. After reboot gintonic started but all time ADW is giving errors about force-closing and card is reported as blank. I installed modules but it didn't do anything. So this is not only with MiniCM7 (swap) problem.
Can I even have a swap partition? And why GinTonic is giving ADW errors (even without sdcard plugged into the phone)?
Ok.
I have GinTonic in my device. I also had that problem with partitions in this rom. After many attempts, I decided to create de partitions with Linux gparted (before i was using minitool partition magic). Then reflashed rom, and the problem was fixed. You should try that.
The only difference between me and u, is that I don't use a swap partition, just Fat32 and ext2. But for what I've read in the rom's thread many users have swap partition working with this rom.
For the adw problem, just install launcher pro and adw should start working. Why? I don't know XD. I installed go launcher and uninstalled the other 2 launchers.
Hope this helps.
Repartitioned through gparted and... "blank sd card".
I can't install launcher pro because adb is giving errors all time and I can't do anything.
I think I will **** this swap and go back to MiniCM.
Anyway thanks for answering.
U r welcome.
Roms unfortunately behave differently from one device to another.
If you want to save memory, I recommend using autokiller memory optimizer and autorun manager.
Hey there!
I found myself in a small pickle today.
I tried out a few roms on my motorola defy plus, and as of today I have absolultely no space on internal memory, although it is supposed to be 1GB in size.
I'm thinking that this happened, because every time I tried out a new rom, I installed all the applications I use all over again.
I tried clearing the cache, the Dalvik cache from recovery, but it didn't help at all.
In this way I am unable to install any aplications whatsoever, whenever I try to open the Market, the phone hangs for a while and then reboots, actually whatever I do with it, it reboots, for example opening the contact manager, trying to manage the apps and so on.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
Perform a factory reset
before installing new rom.
Thank you for your reply, but unfortunatelly it doesn't work.
Any other ideas?
It really seems odd, because the du -hd1 command from terminal doesn't show what is that big. It shows 2.4 GB, from which the memory card is 2.1 GB located in the /mnt folder.
Is there any way that I can wipe all data from the phone?
AW: [Q] Internal memory 100% full after trying out more ROMs
Cwm has the option to clean up the SD card or under the android settings. Maybe every before and after the flashing process backups of your system?
I THINK U WIPE EVERYTHING using(EXCEPT RECOVERY)
ADT.......
THEN FLASH A NEW ROM
HIT THANKS IF HELPED.....
