Hi dear devs,
kholk posted what seems to be an official leaked ROM for the Motorola RAZR (GSM Version).
I was wondering if can be useful for your work... I'm not capable of such a great work so... here is the download link for the ROM.
Many tanks to kholk and Motorola!
Obviously
DON'T FLASH IT IN YOUR MOTOROLA PHOTON/ELECTRIFY!
THIS IS FOR THE MOTOROLA RAZR (EU/ASIAN) ONLY.
I think what we need is an updated kernel for a tegra processor. I'm not sure that we can do much without that. But what do I know?
What we need is the source.
Source, tegra support, and ics kernel
I'm a MoPho-er
honetsly i wouldnt really bother with this. assuming you got the rom to boot youd still need a host of hardware changes with the kernel. and thats just to get it to work 100% on our phone like it does theirs (from what i understand its a rather buggy/busted release for them.
i hope everyone is looking at the big picture tho.. so long after ics source, and they are only this far in their flagship phone... settle on in folks its gunna be a while for ics blur for us
Thanks for your replies!
I think Shabby is right but I saw this rom as a hope because with Vanilla ICS or CM9 it's impossible to have ICS+Webtop ...
However, if somebody is going to try the impossible, I'll be glad to help or test

I would love to see miui on this . And with working cm7, with an aosp kernel ,it should be possible . Although I am not a dev. Good luck and I know it would be appreciated.

I dont really see it being extremely difficult, if anything time consuming. But Christmas break is coming up.
I just wanna make sure noone is already working on it.
Someone was working on it at miui.us, but nothing about it for a long time now. Many people here have expressed interest in it though.

Good to know. Well Ill probably be starting later on in the week.
Look for my thread in the dev section sometime soon ;D
Just wanted to add a plus one to this. MIUI would definitely bring more people to the photon!
would definatly love to see MIUI on the photon, i tend to switch back between CM7 and MIUI depending on whos got the latest and greatest, but both have advantages and soemtimes you just need a little bit of a change ya know?
bottom line, if you build it, they will flash it

Well ive started on it. Im learning as i go. But ill hopefully have an alpha before january.
It would be awesome to see an MIUI port on the mopho.. i dont have mine yet but MIUI is one of the most coolest if not the coolest out.
A pre alpha is in the dev section. I flashed it in CWM after wiping dalvik and cache. I was running CM7 at the time. It did boot, but FC'd continuously on com.android.phone, com. android.core, and some thing else that I don't recall. I believe that doing a full wipe and flashing the 198_7 SBF and then trying again to flash the MIUI might make a difference. At least it booted which is an excellent start!

Yes, the JB and ICS kernel are the same, we have to wait for the developers to get us a working build of JB.
thank you for replying with this information. and thanks to all the developers for building the roms.
I looking at my magic 8 ball and it says a JB ROM is most likely in the distant future.
I have never built a room, but i would think this would take a lot less time then ice cream sandwich, especially if its the same kernels and radios. Now undoubtedly if we get official jellybean it'd use newer kernels then we have now. And since we can use the same radios and kernels, i would think the locked bootloader wouldn't be an issue. Bit I'm a newb and could be wrong.

You're right in one aspect I think, it won't take as long as ICS did, but still, the source is under 24 hours old, I would give them at least a few days, if not a week or two to get a good ROM built...

Ah ok. Well, yes. I don't think it'll take as long as it did with ICS, but then again, you never know.. There could be some major hiccup along the way and delay it, or it could be done by tomorrow.. I'm hoping for the second one in that But we'll see
Personally, I think that we won't see Jelly Bean from Motorola, if we get it, will be thanks to the dev community...
i read somewhere on a XDA port for galaxy nexus i think. That JB is almost the same as ICS but it need a modification in ramdisk to work, unless what it wont boot.
So without an unlocked bootloader and/or KEXEC we're done
I am trying to get my head around porting ROMs...but my severe lack of knowledge has been a roadblock so far. If someone can and want to join hands in this venture, they are more than welcome...PM me with the details and we will take it forward...
Always remember, great things have small beginnings.
Cheers!

This.
I would safely assume this would help us reach nearly the full benefit of running ICS and possibly JB..
I just wonder if we can start building kernels or if we can only use certain ones once kexec is working fully.

I personally don't think jumping from CM7 to CM9 to CM10 (JB) is the right way to go about things. DZK is doing it right though IMO. He got CM7 stable enough again, IMO; To move on to CM9. He's been working hard and made what 5 Alphas and now on a Beta? (Don't know much anymore as I am on AT&T Atrix 2 now) But thats dedication and loyalty to the X2 for sure. I know he mentioned of a CM10 and JB but I as well as other and I'm pretty sure DZK mentioned, it will be awhile before it's stable enough to release. Now the Kexecis where it's at...if he can crack that, I may personally have to come and dust the X2 off as I have for the Paranoid Port and AOKP port as well as the Beta CM9. With everything else going on, again my opinion would be to keep anticipating JB and hope everything else gets worked on first to grasp stability on these great ROMs that have already been pushed out. Just my $0.02 on the Topic.

I agree with you. I think we need kexec working first. We are already running ICS on a Gingerbread kernel which isn't ideal, but it works. Running Jelly Bean on a Gingerbread kernel might be worse. But this is all in theory, obviously. Who knows, it could be super smooth. But with kexec working on the DX2, its guaranteed to work right. I really hope dragonzkiller can get it working. Especially before I upgrade to something else. It would be a shame if he got it working after everyone has moved on.
I agree I'd much rather get kexec working and have a fully functional CM9 than a half baked, unstable CM10 due to our locked bootloaders and no work-around(kexec).
Sent from my Stock Rooted DROID X2
Well here's to hoping that the kexec gets sorted out so we can keep up with those higher end phones.

right on makes sense.
I would say it's safe to say that the only ROM in any kind of develop for our phone is whatever DK does... which I think at the current he is trying to work on CM10 and still keep CM9 updated as much as he can as well. This is not an official statement only what I understand and know of the ROM community for our phone.

The Photon and Atrix seem to be extremely similar hardware-wise... what changes would need to be made to the Atrix 3.1 kernel source to make this functional for Photon? From what I can tell, the camera, fingerprint scanner, and radio are the differences...

Hi guys,
I wanted to do that later but it looks like it will take me some more time to finish Olympus kernel. So I decided to start port for Photon. Since I don't own Photon device, I need couple of volunteers who are willing to break their phones. Also I would need someone who would manage bug tracking and possible hardware differences. I can barely track what's going on Atrix threads, so I need someone as a proxy, who would report me how the things are going. I'm looking for someone who can be considered at least advanced user with a lot of spare time. Also regarding potential testers, I'm sure there are different Photon revisions, so it would be the best if there was a one tester for each rev.

Krystian

Hi guys, I just got photon second hand and have been doing a lot of reading to find out what the best thing I can do with it is.
Is the current work using the new open source tegra driver?
If that's the case, I would think it would be almost necessary to skip ICS & JB.
