I am waiting for my Evo View to get here and thought I should get the SD card before it got here. I also firgured a new class 10 for EVO 4 would be a good idea. I got a 32 GB class 10 and a 16 GB class 10 for $62 including shipping for both cards.
I spent a lot of time shopping for these and this was by far the best price I found.
Here's the link:http://search.directron.com/newsearch.php?find=micro+sd+class+10&fromsection=1&within=
I hope this helps or saves someone some time..
Good find, though I think I would feel more comfortable purchasing from Newegg for $2 more for the same Patriot one or $45 for the PNY with better ratings. I've just never heard of Directron and there are a lot of merchants out there that sell cheap memory.
I agree with gordonzhao. With the number of fake microSDHC cards out there, it's worth the extra couple bucks to purchase from a reliable seller (Amazon, Newegg etc). Additionally, 32gb class 10 is very tempting but the failure rate is still pretty high for these cards.
I'm in the lookout for at 32gb card for my View, but I think I'll go for a Sandisk Class 4 from a reliable seller as soon as it drops under $30.
Deals on microSDHC pop up every couple days, so if you're in the market for on, keep an eye at slickdeals.
Edit: Newegg has the Patriot Micro SDHC 32GB Class 10 for $29.99 after $10 mail-in rebate (expires on 2/3/12) and free shipping. Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220547
I'm still holding on for a Sandisk.
This place has some of the best day to day prices and all the top brands.
Other than Sandisk everyone uses Samsung chips as Samsung is the leading maker of nand memory and always innovates first in this field.

SD cards arrived today via UPS. in brand new sealed Patriot packaging (I had to use a razor knife to get them open). Every once in a while I take a chance on a supplier, of course I do this a lot more than once in a while. I own an electronics repair shop and I don't always find parts at a mainstream supplier. I've only once been screwed, and it was a highly rated eBay seller. I never got the item, but eBay returned the money. Anyway, the SD cards are perfect. I put the 16GB in my EVO4 and the 32GB in my EVO View. they work perfect, I even copied my files from the 8GB I took out of the phone. it was a class 2. I can't believe the difference in how fast the phone is now. So I can verify Directron is for real and they do deliver quickly.

Kudos on the great find then! I'm on the boat with a Sandisk or Kingston 32gb, either class 6 or 10, maybe even a uhs ; ) I could live with a class 6, but what I really want is reliability more than the class 10.

You think counterfeiters can't make knockoff Patriot packaging? I wouldn't take anything for granted until you fill the card up to capacity (or close to it). The counterfeiters have gotten very good at their craft.
I have no doubt that there are good, legit, lesser known retailers out there that deserve business. But SD cards are one of the most counterfeited electronics items. I wouldn't risk it to save $2. Especially since Newegg is so freakin awesome. Most items ship free, and get to my house the day after I order it (despite picking standard shipping). And if anything goes wrong, their customer service is top rated.

Agree on Newegg, but not on PNY. PNY stuff is trash. I've owned 2 of their products, an SD card and a thumb drive. The plastic casings on both broke apart after just a few months of normal usage. I will never purchase another PNY product again.

Directron is OK, I used them many times in the past.
Texas guys, pretty honest.
If they are counterfeit, then kudos to them. They both have the full advertised capacity, and I had a class 2 8GB in my phone(the class ten is notably faster for loading my apps and files), and the packaging, if it is fake, is far better than I have ever seen done on any fake of anything faked..... I am satisfied. Just wanted to share a good price.....

Naw, if its got the advertised capacity, its likely legit. The usual counterfeits MO seems to be buy cheap low capacity cards, change the screen printing on them to read a higher capacity (and even mod them so they report that capacity to the device), and package them. I suppose its also possible that they may misrepresent the transfer rate/class. But I haven't seen cases of that reported, just the faking of the capacity.
And from the previous response, it seems that seller is a decent one.
Just making the point, take nothing for granted on the internet. In particular, SD cards and phone batteries seem very frequently faked, since its pretty easy to re-mark and repackage them as being a higher capacity then they actually are.

Remember that the Class just refers to write speed (not read), which only affects tasks such as HD video cam recording, and copying files.
Also, Sandisk cards consistently outperform higher class cards from other manufacturers, and often much more reliable. I've run several Class 4 Sandisk cards on my HTC phone and Flyer, and never noticed it affecting performance including lots of video playback and some video cam recording. Always smooth with no hiccups. Although I never video record for more than a minute or so, so not sure if it will eventually need to buffer for longer recordings at higher resolutions.

It would have to, in order to meet the spec. The way memory is manufactured, its never going to be EXACTLY 10 MB/s.

Hey guys, someone just posted this over in the Evo 3D forums and I thought I'd share it here as well. There's no way to know if it's 100% legit or not, but they claim to be selling a 32gb microsd Samsung Class 10 for $15.98 with free shipping. The location is Beijing so it might take a little while. If it is indeed legit, then this is easily the best price I've ever seen.
Samsung Class 20 32gb on eBay
At that price its almost worth the risk I think.

...but I think it's just way too good to be true. With every legitimate business selling Samsung Class 10 cards for at least 3 times the price...you have to question someone who would price the cards so low. It just doesn't make any sense from a business standpoint. Even if they did get a huge stock of microsd cards for real cheap, why not offload them for $30? They would still sell like hotcakes.

My gut says that something that cheap either has to be fakes or stolen (or otherwise ill-gotten) goods. Like you said, makes no sense for a legit seller to do this.
I think you guys are probably right. The item location says "beijing, China" and while the seller has 100% feedback in the last 12 months, it seems too good to be true.
I also found out that this same seller has a 64GB microSDXC card for $18.88... The cheapest I've found online is about $150. One guy in the EVO 3D forums said that Best Buy had them on sale for $99 a couple months ago but its back up to $199 at Best Buy now. So if he's selling that for $19 when it could easily sell for $150+... probably something sketchy going on.
Sorry to get everyone's hopes up. lol
Just for info
I have these 32GB+ cards
32GB Class 4 Sandisk
My original 32GB, very stable
32GB Class 10 Patriot
Gets corrupted easily, forcing you to wipe the card a lot usually when it reaches around halfway full. Known to have issues with android phones,
32GB Class 10 Samsung
Just got it recently, haven't really put it to a stress test.
64GB Class 6 Sandisk
Just got it recently, write speed from PC to phone is around 4MB/s on a USB3.0 but man... the size is so worth it.

Ok, this is something I know a lot of people are possibly concerned about. I seen it noted in other threads but never really discussed completely. I've been doing some research about class 6 and class 10 Micro SD cards. Now the prices really aren't that bad anymore for the micro SD cards. I was really surprised to see a Kingston 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 for $109 on Newegg.com but I was not searching for prices rather searching for reviews from people who have used them. I don't care about what (1) person says, but of what (X) people have to say about a product to reduce the bias content. I am a fan on SanDisk and they claim a 15Mb/s read spead Micro SD card called the Mobil Ultra and is priced at $83.93 at Amazon.com
Through my research of it I found a review someone did of the 4GB model.
Before I go further checking other products though, I would like to know what the read/write speeds of the EVO 3D are and if that's not available then just the read/write of a phone with equal quality.
I just got a 16GB class 4 Sandisk from Walmart last week for $30, so I would say that you should not pay $84 for the same thing.
Edit: Just looked into it a little bit more and they claim faster sequential R/W speeds on the Mobile Ultra, I benchmarked mine and don't remember the exact numbers since I was more interested in the random R/W speeds. Either way it seems like a hefty price to pay for what seems to be an ~50% increase in speed.
Last night I picked up a Patriot 32GB Class 10 card from Frys for 84.00.
Is patriot any good? Im a little weary of going to brands I don't know. Also I read bad things about class 10 SD cards failing a lot.
Also in the review, maybe I should have posted the benchmark scores for people that didn't want to click the link.
"Testing showed that the Mobile Ultra microSDHC card offers more than adequate read and write data transfer speeds. Read speeds averaged 20MB/sec. and write speeds averaged 14MB/sec. This is significantly faster than a typical microSDHC card, and is a big jump in performance over a microSD card as well."
So I like those speeds. He used about 500MB of MP3 files for the tests.
Also the MicroSD cards used to cost like $100 for a class 2-4 16GB a few years ago. To me the increase of speed is worth it if the phone can use it. May allow for faster loading of games and apps saved on the SD card. I don't exactly know which is my reason for opening the thread and I'm sure others would like to know as well.
I had a Patriot 16GB class 10 that I replaced with the Sandisk. I had been trying to run a ROM off it for my Nook and kept getting FC's. If you only need it to do things like play music it will be fine, but I wouldn't be installing apps to SD if I were using that.
I've never even heard of patriot. I would definitely stick with known brands. Especially if your buying an expensive ass class10

It's amazon either refuse the shipment or ship do an rma to ship it back. Since it's your fault they'll charge you shipping or you can ship it your own way back to them. If you refuse shipment they'll simply refund your total amount when they get it back. Cancelling payment isn't the right thing to do in this case, plus they can get it overturned with the cc company if their delivery shows it was received.

It's called anecdotal evidence. You have given some and so have I. If you are refering to the compatibility list? Ok. Glad this is a thread for HTC which has excellent compatibility with this brand. It works great in the Xoom I had for a week. Works great in my Evo 4g. Worked great in my GF's Hero until she begged me for a Nexus4g... I have yet to have a patriot work near or less than rated speed. Always much better than rated. Sorry you have had a bad experience.

Be very carefully when buying these types of items from amazon.
I wanted a 32gb SD card also. Did a lot of web searching for the best price. Found a sandisk 32gb on amazon for about 30 bucks. I jumped all over it. When they arrrived 2 weeks later from China, it was pretty obvious that they were knock offs. The printed label on the card was missing the class information, and the SD adaptor that came with it had a label that was poorly placed. When I inserted the card, it showed the correct amount of memory, 27gb or thereabouts. But problems appeared when actually using the card. Music synced from comp would appear while still connected to comp, but would dissappear completely when disconnected, or appear, but have a 0 byte file size. When i took pictures, they would appear as green blocks when viewed with gallery.
Just make sure your buying from a reputable dealer.
Also, not sure of your location, but current exchange says that item is $65 US. I bought a 32gb, class 10 from best buy for the same price. So its not that good of a price. Though I can't seem to find one right now, they come and go.

Further, Sandisk,Kingston and memorette has too many fakes.

I'm in europe so the price is about 50ish Euros for me for the card I linked. Also, i am fully aware of the massive knockoff market when it comes to SD cards. It's part of the reason I chose amazon over Ebay. I've also made sure to check if the SD card i bought has the "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk" status. The user reviews also guarantee it's genuine.
I bought mine straight from Lexar when they were first released. Ran it in the Evo and now in my Photon.
My first one started exhibiting corruption and eventually died (a few months before I got the Photon). Lexar replaced it with minimal hassle and it's been good to go since.

Lost my 16gb Card!!!
I have a missing 16gb that I was using, I lost it when I removed it to unlock my bootloader as a precaution.
Looking to get a 32gb card!!!
OK, I will say this one more time. #1, Not all cards are alike. I have a class 2 32Gb SanDisk that has treated me well, on Fuze, Evo, and Photon. I got a class 6 32Gb knock-off for the speed BUT, after we ran the test, my SanDisk blew it away by over 50% speed wise.
Next, I noticed by playing with others phones (Hey, I like to play with phones?), depending on what your doing, is different. For example, playing music or playing a game. Games, I found, need higher I/O than music.
I just bought a 32gb lexar class 10 for $60 at best buy. Im in canada right now. Future shop had a sale, they were sold out. I printed it out and best buy gave me the same deal. My advice is becareful online, there are lots fake cards. Look for sales from a reputable retailer.

As far as I know the new Samsung Galaxy Note is the only phone out that supports that card.

At B&H Photo Video, very reputable seller, free shipping via snail mail. The SanDisk Ultra cards are rated class 6 but outperform most class 10s in read and write speeds, including the Samsung cards (I need to understand the class rating system a little better). Worth checking out! Great, reliable name..great seller. Don't get ripped off out there folks... Lots of junk cards and ripoffs (counterfeits), especially on Ebay. Good card recommendation... I picked one up on eBay... they don't have anymore there.

Where are you getting your information from? Show me evidence where an android phone performed better with a class 10 card than a class 2-6.
The only time you will ever notice the speed difference between a class 4 and a class 10 microsdhc card is when you use it in a DSLR camera that can optimize the speed. Cell phones can't. You are wasting your money buying a class 10 card.

If you are planning on buying memory cards from eBay you run the risk of getting a counterfeit. Its happened before to me and a lot of other users here. Just exercise caution.
Look people, I don't want to see anyone get taken advantage of or mislead with erroneous information. If you are using a DSLR camera or high speed camcorder you are not going to see the difference between a class 4 and class 10 card. Save yourself some money and piece of mind and buy a class 4 or 6 card from one of the reputable vendors online. Unless you like throwing away your money.
Amen Brother!

I had a samsung 8gb class 4 card that came with my htc inspire 4g I like to take alot of files to and from work and wanted to put all my apps on a card also so I got a PNY 32gb class 10 card and I noticed alot of speed difference in how fast files transfer and apps run off the card seem to run better than off the class 4 so for $50 I think it was well spent I'm happy with it
forums like these have taught me that i dont need to spend the extra coin on a Class 10...tx to many for that lesson.
when i have the Note in hand, i plan on buying a Class 6 even tho many preach a Class 4 is fine
Simple...just get a standard class 4 32GB microSD card. You can get them for as cheap as $30 on Amazon...basically $30-40 range.
Either Sandisk or Transcend kind will be fine.
And definitely exercise extreme caution if you order any of them from ebay...especially since those HK-based vendors have been known to sell false merchandise.

This is the one I bought....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/230740310162
I got it already, no issues so far. Also guy is in New Jersey, not overseas and offers 2 weeks to return it if need be.
Even though the order I placed on tigerdirect went back ordered and said it was going to be cancelled. They shipped it anyways, now I have two of these lol.
- Dan
Works perfect in 4 different android devices
I bought 3 of these bad boys for $18.99 each. Wintec Class 10 16GB.

No issues at all in my Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC Vivid, and ASUS Transformer. Constantly get 10mb transfer speeds.
Or if you need the 32gb variant for a tad bit more...$38.99

I have this same one. Bought it at Fry's for 29.99 one week. Mega sale on that card I think.

I have also read the SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC Class 6 Memory Card work in the note as well.

I paid a little over $30 for my Sandisk 32gb class 4 on Amazon, and it actually out-performs my Sandisk 8gb class 6, so I'm fine with that.
I got a 32gb class 4 from newegg for 32 bucks. Don't kno how much better a class 6 performs but a 32gb class 4 will do fine for me.

There are so many sites offering stuff, usually I buy everything from Amazon. but wondering if anybody knows of any cool sales, looking to grab an SD for the phone. Hate to buy one only to find out after site X offered a 32GB for a killer deal lol, or if there is some crazy good 64GB deal out there.
I can get this on Prime which seems like a good deal with excellent reviews http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-microSDHC-Memory-Packaging-SDSDQM-032G-B35/dp/B004G60AD6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1337368411&sr=8-2
Would class 4 be too slow? I'm looking for a class 6 or higher.

I'm not sure b/c from what I'm seeing reading, the Scandisk micro SDs seem to perform better and sometimes way better benchmarking then their class specification.... and others seem to be just ok or worse (was looking at a class 6 from another company that others said performed more like a 4). Meanwhile the Scandisk cards were performing more like a 6 if not faster yet rated class 4.... odd lol
Prices will always be cheaper in the future so there is no point in waiting. Buy one if you feel like you need one right now.
Also, there are tons of fake memory cards out there so I'd advise you to pay a little more and buy directly from Amazon if you can. The one you posted is advertised on Amazon but "ships and sold by Everything But Stromboli".
This one is sold by Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KFXIDE?psc=1

Weird, my link says "ships and sold by Amazon" for me?? I'm logged into my Prime account. I noticed mine says SanDisk microSDHC 32GB Flash Memory Card (Retail Packaging) SDSDQM-032G-B35,Black and yours says SanDisk Mobile 32 GB microSDHC Card (SDSDQ-032G-AFFP)... but seems to be the samething

I got my two SanDisk 32gb micro sd cards (class 4) for like.. around $20 including shipping each from 1saleaday.com .. I also checked to make sure they were actually 32 gb, or at least the first one (i just stuffed a **** ton of things into it and made sure I could do it).
Check the other threads in the accessories forum, there should be at least one or two threads about SD cards. This thread should be moved there, as well.
i always check out SlickDeals they always have posts about SD Cards.
In general Amazon looks like the best place, iIve seen 32gig class 10 for about $28-35.
Ending up ordering this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KFXIDE?psc=1 , 21 bucks on Prime was a good deal. Great reviews and seems it performs better than it's "class 4" spec.
Looked at some of the class 10's but prices and reviews were all over the place. Was just wondering if any sales were going on, knowing my luck I get this and tomorrow there will be a 64gb somewhere for 20 bucks on clearance lol
So I got a Samsung 32GB class 10 MicroSD card off eBay for my soon to ship AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 and I ran some tests on it and got some weird results and I'm wondering if I got an el-fako. It was a bulk packaged one (ie just in an adapter case holder).
I ran h2testw and got results lower than I was expecting (like 15 read/6 write) but that didn't bother me too much. But then I tried to run CrystalDiskMark; I didn't realize that selecting 5 made it run the tests 5 times and it was taking forever, so I left it running when I went to bed. When I woke up it was frozen on Random Write 4KB (QD=32) [1/5] hitting stop did nothing and I couldn't close the program or even end the process in task manager. When I went into the disk in my windows explorer it froze windows explorer and then I couldn't do anything really involving the SD card. I even had to cold power down the system since attempting to shut down within the OS did nothing.
Now today running CrystalDiskMark it ran the first 7 tests fairly quickly on 1 iteration and then it's again stuck on the last test Random Write 4KB (QD=32) [1/1]. Or at least it's been doing that test for like a half hour with no change and as mentioned overnight it didn't get past it so I doubt waiting will do anything for me. A screenshot of the results so far are attached.
Now having said that, I am using the built-in 7in1 card reader in a 4 year old dell Vostro 1700 so it wouldn't surprise me if the reader couldn't handle the top speeds of the card or even if it freezing up was the fault of the reader but I am concerned. Anyone have any thoughts?
Ebay fake Samsung SD cards
I had the same issue. 15 R/ 6 W, when class 10 clearly should be constant speeds of 24 Read and 13 Write. Brought from ebay seller moe_122 for £19.99 32GB Class 10 Samsung Micro SD.
I tried this both on my laptop card reader and my PC, using both the SD card adapter and a standalone USB Micro SD card reader.
I then checked out images of some available from Amazon and they are clearly different. Genuine mSD shown on Amazon had writing on back, whereas the one I'd received was blank.
I have today, emailed them requesting a replacement, they instead offered a full refund. the only thing is now I have the S3 but no micro SD card, and I have to post it back to them. They tried to say that I was liable for return postage but I was not having it. In the end I just escalated to ebay resolution center and they begrudging agreed to refunding me the postage.
I just brought one from amazon for £19.99 with free super saver delivery.
Thank me if you found this useful.
This is why you never buy Sd-Cards from ebay!!
Try Amazon, I'd recommend Sandisk also

Yeah mine has writing on the back and it matches every picture I've seen so far. I know that doesn't really indicate anything re: fake/bad but it's at least not an obvious fake.
This will be my first time ever having an issue with an eBay purchase if it is one and the buyer has 99.99% positive on like 80k deals so I'm sure worst case I get a replacement or a refund. I'm not too worried about it; it's just annoying if in fact it is a bad card/fake. I would have bought from Amazon but at the time I ordered they didn't have any good deals and the eBay price was like $10-$15 cheaper. Of course since then there have been a couple deals at the same or better pricing. If it turns out this one is going back I'll probably try and be patient and pick up a 64gb sandisk if they drop to ~$50-$60 again soon.
Hm...
Argh... as a noob i cannot yet post link to the photo of mSD card on amazon.
I too have had positive experiences with ebay so far, but when it comes to things like this, I guess it is better to go with a reputable seller like Amazon.
Go into your phone shop dealer and see what cards they sell there.

Hey Erikk, I am having the same exact problem as you, I am using the card reader in my new laptop and my card is benching much higher as it should be but when I am getting to the same test it gets frozen on Random Write 4KB (QD=32) [1/5] and nothing happens I can't end process, I have to cold power down like you as well. I know for a fact the microSD card I got is not a fake because I compared with other real samsung 32gb mircosd cards. I got mine at a MicroCenter. I don't know what to do at this point because the card is fantastic as far as speed is concerned it just gets stuck at that part...
Appreciate help from anyone that knows a possible solution, returning it may be the only option but I have a hard time believing the card it self is defective.
There are so many fake cards on eBay it's not even funny. I got burned once and will never buy there again. I'd rather pay a little more at my local store, at least then I have the peace of mind of being covered by consumer protection laws.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
UPDATE: Booting into safe mode did the trick, I no longer get frozen on Random Write 4KB (QD=32) [1/5] ALSO my speeds seem to have improved some more as well. lol :victory: No defect with the card after all, just something was not working well with crystaldiskmark in the normal OS environment.
I just don't get why people spend £500 on the best phone available then go to Ebay to find the cheapest card they can possibly find.

If you want them cheap get them from ebay, but dont blame anyone if you get a fake one, you get what you pay for. It has been said many times, many ebay sellers sell fake micro sd.

Always get a good quality card reader, dont compare the cheap and nasty one's with a branded one, you won't get the same results.

Cos they just spent all their money on a $700 phone....
I went to eBay because it was cheap enough that I really didn't care if I got burned on a fake card (plus with all the paypal/ebay protections the burn would only be the annoyance of disputing the charge). I am now fairly certain it's not a bad or fake card; in the S3 antutu reads it with the correct speeds. I think it was just the 5 year old multi-card reader built into my laptop that was having issues.
So either way, I'm happy now with my card.
I'm normally very careful, but I made the mistake of buying some "Sandisk" SD cards from Ebay.
They looked absolutely perfect, the welded plastic packaging was flawless, yet sadly they turned out to be fake.
A typical scam is to reprogram and rebrand cheaper, smaller capacity, slower or otherwise low quality cards as pass them off as high quality brands.
Often everything seems OK until the card is part-used, when files start to corrupt. Of course, often by the time this becomes apparent, the seller has scarpered.
If the price looks too good to be true, it often really is too good to be true.
Well the seller I bought from has been an ebay member since 99, has 80k+ ratings and 99.9% positive feedback, so hopefully I won't have that happen. But yes SD cards are definitely one of the riskier items to buy off ebay.
Best tool to test SD for fakes is called H2testw. I have bought one fake on eBay, and seller also had 99% positive feedback. I guess people buy 32GB card and never get past the 1GB or 2GB by the time they leave the positive feedback. If you pass the real space everything will be corrupted. So you really never know until you try to get data out of the SD to use it. Try that tool and it will full the SD card and then read it back.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730285
PS. I don't ever buy SD card from eBay anymore.

That sounds a really helpful tool, thanks!
I'm sure you are exactly right about the typical Ebay scam.
I watched one seller who had vast amounts of sales and great feedback.
They suddenly flooded the listings with vast numbers of "Kingston" brand cards at silly low prices.
Nothing happened for a while, then suddenly the bad feedback started to roll in on that supplier about corrupt data. Of course, all the cards had been sold. Seller vanished without trace.

Yeah my card passed H2testw. It just came back with speeds I thought were too low for what the card should have been capable of. With the tests I've run with the phone itself I think those slow tests were just indicative of the crap reader my ancient laptop has. So I guess I got lucky in the eBay crapshoot.

you need a good quality external card reader to get upto standard results, kingston and sandisk has the fastest card reader on the market costing approximate USd 35 - USD 45.
card reader built into laptop does what it suppost to do, but at low speed.
Fake or Real
I have downloaded sd tools on my S3 and I'm getting results of 7.2 MB/s write speed, and, 17.6 MB/s read speed.
Is this fake or real?
