Just a general question - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hi guys, this is just a general question and not intended to hurt any developers.
I hv been using cm7.1 since last one week and i am extremely happy for what features it offers. I don't see or feel any major battery drains. Overall i am satisfied and would like to thank its developers. However one question just popped into my little greedy girly mind is there anything better than this available for or beloved ace?
Guys please advice. Please don't take this otherwise and don't drag the question in other direction and don't tell me not to ask this and try to determine it based on your experience.
Would appreciate if someone can advice if i can use any other kennel or some other thing along with cm to further improve my experience.
thanks to all developers for providing such a wonderful support to our phone.
-Nisha

"better" doesn't apply to ROMs. There is not any "good" ROM as much as there are "bad" ROMs, because it's all relative. It all depends on the users needs and preferences.
If you want stability and good battery, stock ROMs are the way.
If you want performance and features, CM KANGs are better to suit your needs.
Personally, I can't say which one is better over the other. All ROMs are equal.

If you want to increase the perfomance of your phone, then flash Turbo boost v8.5 Then,in etc/init.d,there will be a file called S78_touchscreen or something like that,i forgot. Then, flash LagFree v2.

Use this with the rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18186630

Me too i'm using CM7.1 by Grif and after months i can say i'm really satisfied.
Although i think i will try Cm7.2 RC0, since many people describe that as the best CM for our Ace! I'll let you know about my impressions...

Code.Romv2 vs FirstUA-rom 1.1

Hey guys!
I'm using Galaxy ace with KPH , and now i would like to try some new rom. Then i choose these two rom for choice . Can someone tell me which rom is better ?
THX !!
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
Both are great. Why not just try both then decide later what's best suited for you?
I tried both and like Code Rom much more than UA, because of the battery usage. Tested UA for two days, and in this period I had to charge my phone three times, even though I don't use it almost at all.
It's almost a day from changing to Code Rom and battery usage is brilliant!
My vote goes to Code Rom I didn't like the first version at all, but the second one rocks!
for gods sake, thread like this make devs more annoyed. theres no point in this rom vs that rom thread. just install and decide for urself. geeeshhh
loyal to coderom. i use coderomv1, coderomnexus and now i am using coderomv2. this rom rocks!! ive tried other roms but in the end, i end up flashing back to coderomv2 i think this rom has battery and performance tweak..
It's better close this thread
i just want to know which one is better , i haven't think that this will make dev annoy , i fell sorry for that.....

Why close immediately, a meaningful comparison can be beneficial.
Exactly.
I don't know why any developer would mind a comparison of their ROM?
It's a chance to check the others, and find ideas for themselves.

Hey!
I understand you, that you want THE best one. But there isnt BEST one, they all are great. Just go to ROM THREADS and read, what ppl is saying and discussing about ROM-s. Then decide, what ROM is filling your needs. Try it and you see, dose it good for you, if not then you can leave the feedback in that ROM thread, what you think(feedback is good for DEV-s, then they see what can be improved and what not). I think its better way to see what ROM is fill you needs, because we all want something different, then others!
CHEERS!
I really don't see a problem with a bit comparison as competition brings forth innovation so sometimes a little pressure can be good, I develop apps for the iPhone and it doesn't get much worst on their forums but some good apps always gets delivered despite the constant comparison. Ace is a growing community tho so I understand the sensitivity of making such comparisons but I'm sure the intentions are good

This is the best ROM:
[ROM] AceROM v1.2

[Q] Best custom ROM.

Hey guys, I'm planning to flash a custom ROM but I don't know which ROM is better. So could you guys give me some recommendation? I want it to be stable and fast. Thanks!

I've seen this question here at xda several times, so if I may...
The basic answer is that there is no "best" or "better". There are various flavors, and just like ice cream, candy, soft drinks, hard drinks, or pizza toppings...there is no right answer. The best answer is that it is best to try different ROMs until you find one that you like best. This could be the 1st or the 101st that you flash. So, although it doesn't help in your quest...that's the basic answer.
Opinions are like elbows and a$$holes, everyone's got 1, sometimes they've 2. What works for me, might not for you.
The hard part is rooting, once that's done you're free to experiment with as many ROMs as you see fit.
As a helpful suggestion, look at screenshots and read through the posts of ROMs that you're considering. From that you can probably narrow it down. Another indicator could be the number of times that particular ROM was DL'ed, but none of these really work as well as trying it out yourself.
Develop an opinion, and when you find a ROM you like...think of donating to the dev. He's worked hard to give it to everyone, so think about buying him a beer.
try out some of custom roms and if you are looking for BEST custom rom for you then only one person can make it and thats YOU... else use roms which are available in dev section

How to build your own ROM for SGA?

Hi,
I am a newbie when it comes to ROM development for android. I have been a avid fan of all the development work that you guys do and wanted to contribute.
So, I thought of building my own ROM and in process learn how this thing works exactly.
I am decent enough Java Developer, and a full time Linux user. So technicality is not a problem. But i have some very basic doubts?
1. Where to start?
2. How to reach to the level where i can build my own ROM.
3. What are the places I can refer to.
I was thinking of picking up the code of cynogen mod and build something different. At this moment i don't know what different.
Anyway, the point is I want a guidance. specially where to start?
ur posting in wrong section mate. question shouldnt be here in dev subforum.. btw
1 - ur already started by showing interest
2 - thats not a hard thing, anyone with linux experience can build their own rom. rom using stock samsung's as base is much easier. unpack, deodex, edit apk's, repack, profit. rom compiled from source eg aosp and cm is much harder.
3 - here. i think xda alone is enough for tutorials and such. u just need to know where to look. sometimes what we need is buried deep down under all this thousands of thread and post created everyday. thats when search button came to the rescue.

Thanks a lot!
Actually I got interested in this when I saw my friends Galaxy S2 running Miui, and I want it to run on my Ace!
I know about limitations still I want to try.
I will search xda for information. But if you have any docs or have links bookmarked, can you please share it?

Hmm don't try. Unless you are able to optimize it for ARMV6 CPU architecture.

Actually MIUI has not yet been ported to any ARMv6 devices (AFAIK). How I am going to do it, I have no idea. If anyone knows anybody working on this, and has made even littlt progress, please let me know.
edit:jazux of Team GreenMods is working on porting MIUI for Galaxy 3. Will that help us anyway?
