Guys ain't sure this is out there and I did search but couldn't find much on subject so looking for someone to confirm...
I now know of three different peoples 3vos batteries to completely fry around the 4 month mark, this includes my 3vo which is why at the moment I'm posting this from my hd2...
I've looked at all variables in the three different cases and nothing stands out... is it just HTC supplying crap batteries that can't keep up?!?
Appreciate some comments back guys and girls!!

That is built in the Kernel I believe. Basically, your phone charges to 99%, then internally stops charging until it hits below 95% and starts again. What I do is when I wake up, unplug, then plug back in. By the time I leave around 45 minutes later it is back to 99%. You can if you have a recovery, let it charge to 99%, then power off, boot into recovery and wipe battery stats, then resume charging. Do this 2-3 times and you can get to 100%.

Actually I thought I read not. I seem to remember that is HTC's kernel and the same problem doesn't happen to CM but I've never run it so I couldn't say myself.

Ok its me aging hopefully this hasn't been posted either cuz I haven't came across it....but anyway today I decided to calibrate my battery let it die out and charge while the phone is off...and this was around 5pm....I fell asleep and it is now midnight and its still charging and I know stock batteries don't need a lot of time to charge unlike extended batteries.....has anyone else come across this or does this phone need 7hrs plus of charging??

There is no need to calibrate the battery. When the phone reaches 99% charge capacity, it will take a while for it to achieve 100%. Once it achieves 100%, it will let the battery drop back down to 95% then it will begin charging back to 100%. It is a repeated process. It will keep doing this until the phone is removed from the charger.

Once you disconnect, your battery drops from 90 to 70 in a matter of minutes?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
If that is the case, I would say bad battery. BUT I do remember reading that there were some Evo 3D's that suffered from the same problem, and they were also getting extremely hot. If that is the case, I suggest exchanging.
Was your phone normal before?

It was normal as no issues that I've noticed but this was the first time I charged the phone being off also and I doubt an app wouldn't cause this specially when the phone is off so therefore nothing running

Let the phone die down to 15%, then charge it. If it drops significantly again, then we may have a problem. It could be a bad battery or an app you must have downloaded.

A smart phone is like a pocket sized computer. There can be malicious apps that can harm the phone. But if that isn't the case, I suggest hard resetting. If that still doesn't work, replace.
Edit: Try my other solutions first.

I personally had strange battery problems the first week I had the phone, and after that my battery life became quite good (I did the battery calibration technique from the og evo and it helped a lot also).
So if you're saying it's strange after a couple days I'd say give it a chance to go through a couple more charge cycles. I'd bet the issues will sort themselves out.

I just bought this phone and I don't know if its because its brand new or what but it doesn't charge completely.
It will charge up to 100% but then the percentage will decrease and the green light that let's you know its fully charged stays on yet the percentage lowers drastically and this is while its still on the charger plugged in and everything.
Does anyone else have this problem or experienced this?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
That's the circuit kicking in to prevent overcharging of the battery. It's normal.
--Sent from my 3D Shooter --
Will it get better over time because Ive had plenty of android phones and this is the only one that loses its charge while still on the charger.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Yes it is like this on all EVO 3D as well as the EVO 4G. I'm not sure if it like that with only HTC phones or just the EVO brands.
Take it off once it turns green, it's full. If you leave it plugged in longer it will stop using the charger and use battery till it gets down to like 90% then the charger kicks back on.
Okay it was just a shock to me because I owned the vibrant, incredible, and g2 and the 3vo is the only one thats done this. But if its normal I guess I have nothing to worry about. Althought I still may get a replacement, I just charged it completely and its down to 53% after only 2 hours and 20 minutes and the only thing I've done so far is post this thread on xda haha.

I have an HTC EVO 3D, the battery will literally melt down to "red" in about 3 hours, and charge extremely slow or not at all, until I reboot the phone, and then the phone will reboot with a charge of around 60% and normal recharge rates.
What the heck is going on? My phone is not rooted, so I can't reset the battery configuration....or can i?
Stock everything...
try this. Let the battery die completely. With the phone off let it charge till you get a green light.
Do that a couple of times, will more than likely fix it.
You can also charge and then wipe battery stats in recovery.
charge and wipe stats ftw

Your battery will charge to 100%. When it reaches 99% just unplug it and plug it in again.

""Shooter on Deck""
its normal in every phone.electronic devices. the 1-2% are reserved in case user unplugs power before 100% is reached.you will see 100% if u charge overnight or turn the device off-charge until green and then turn on and charge again until green--bam!100%
The og evo used to do this but instead of reporting the battery percentage dropping it would report 100% no matter what. Its a huge problem if you have a bad charging cable cause it'll sit there at 100% till it kills the battery to zero.

On ICS my phone would alert me of low battery at 14%, then at 9% and at 5% would go red and alert me again. Now, on JB it alerts me at 14% but just shuts off at 10%. Has happened to me three times now, so I've gotten to where I charge once it hits 11% (if I'm at home). But That's shortening my battery life some and if I'm out and about is an inconvenience. I'm 100% stock. Anyone else having this issue since the JB update and is there a way to fix it (without rooting my phone)?
Have u accepted the update that was juss pushed out?

Could be battery polling not correctly updating. Once in awhile I'll see 20%, reboot and it will say 8%. Battery may be damaged if the stats aren't correct.

I've had similar issues dating back to the original EVO. Found this page that fixed my problems then thanks Swagstr. I started having the same issues on the new Evo. This processes helped as well. If you're getting shutdowns/ reboots at 20% it'll take a while for this process to get "topped off". Once i do this, my phone will work until it's been at 1% for 10-15 minutes. Then the batter will show completely red with diagonal lines through it for a minute or two before shutting down.
http://www.pocketables.com/2010/08/how-to-calibrate-htc-evo-battery-and-possibly-double-your-battery-life.html
Here's a variation of these instructions:
Turn the EVO on and charge it until the LED indicator turns green.
Unplug it and turn it off.
Plug it back in and charge until the LED indicator turns green.
Unplug it and turn it on.
Once powered on completely, turn it off again.
Plug it back in and charge until the LED turns green.
Unplug it, turn it on, and use it normally.
Click to collapse
Basically repeatedly do this until plugging it in when off turns the LED green almost immediately.
