What is the best rom for Photon 4G ? - Motorola Photon 4G

Hi
I bought before 1 week Photon 4G
I dont like to try many roms because i am afread it breaks my phone
can you give me the best rom available for the photon
thank you

If you want a stock type rom, this one is very good http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403322 The only problem I have with it on sprint, is that mms doesn't work. I use go sms pro, put in sprint settings and it work fine. If you are using it with a gsm carrier, you can put your apn settings in for mms. No matter what rom you use, make sure to do a nandroid backup, so you can return to where you are.

[Q] help? with my droid x on ntelos

i have a droid x that was on verizon, it was flashed over onto the ntelos carrier, i had it up and running and was finally almost finished with setting up my daily rom, i had the miui 1.9.9 rom with v6 supercharger script, my apps, blah blah etc. i flashed wugzfresh tether zip and lost 3g , i tried my nand...to no luck.....also tried apn manager and searching for the settings to no luck...my question i want to know is can i flash a milestone x sbf file to my dx??? and or is there any milestone x roms with the correct settings for data and mms? i really didnt want to have to bring it back to the people that flashed it over for me, being that he was kind of expensive and also he told me that if i was to root it that his "software" wouldnt connect to my phone....by the way he used flash to talk.....my calls and mms still work, my prl is 22802. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks for a great forum keep up the good work for all us dx users
Apn backup?
Thanks anyway I ended up bringing it back to the store he only charged me ten bucks though so im happy. I still have a question though. Is apn backup what I could have used to restore my web and sms settings? Or is that something completely different? Thanks in advance.
Were you able to get this resolved? I am more or less in the same boat as you, but I have an EVO 3D that I am wanting to flash. I do however, have an inactivated EVO 4G, that was once flashed over to NTELOS that still is connected to NTELOS in case I need to pull something from it.

[Q] Using CM9 for GSM Abroad?

I'm going to be traveling to the London soon and will want to put a local SIM in my Photon. I'm currently running Joker's CM9 and loving it, but I'm wondering if I'll have any problems using it on a GSM network abroad.
Does anyone have much experience with this? Will CM9 work? Can I use it for data as well as voice? Are there better options out there?
I think the best thing you can do is flash your photon to gsm while you are on the go and when you are back just flash it back to cdma but make sure you make a backup before you flash to gsm in case something goes wrong.
currently using mine in taiwan with twmobile prepaid sim. can use data as well, but it eats up the credits pretty quickly

3G Data on STOCK and Vennasure ROM, but 1X on Newt's XXX?

Hi Guys,
Quick question for you experts. I use my Rezound as a 3G device, because I am on Page Plus and not Verizon, so I am only looking for 3G Speeds here.
I am facing this issue:
I get full 3G data speeds on the Stock ROM and let's say the Vennasaur Sense 4 ROM, WITHOUT ANY SIM in the phone.
However, when do the same exact process to install Newt's XXX, I get NO DATA, until I pop a generic NON LTE 4G SIM, and then, I am only getting 1X Data speeds ...
Restoring back to Stock or Vennasaur gets me 3G again :/...
Now I know that most of you don't care or would know much about Page Plus and using a Rezound with it, but, can someone tell me some of the technical reasons or differences between the two ROMs I mentioned above, that might be causing this data inconsistency between them?
I am Rooted (Unlocked Bootloader), Stock Earliest GB Build, and when I flash any of the Sense 4 ROMs, I apply the GB Firmware update patch...
Any ideas guys? Thanks for all your help!
Maybe LTE was disabled?
Check network settings.
Thanks for your reply. LTE is supposed to be disabled, since Page Plus doesn't have 4G.
I think the key lies with the way the two ROMs telephony works? Venasaur doesn't need the SIM inside to make 3G work, while XXX doesn't get data, period, until I put a NON-VZW SIM and then I finally get 1X data...
I even tried writing the proper 3G keys using CDMA WS to the 9K port of the Rezound, but the settings are NOT sticking or saving. I want to do it manually, but the ##778# and the ##Program# menus ALSO don't work in the XXX ROM ...
I am sure someone has the right answers for this, please help guys! Thanks!
Not sure if this works. You can make a note of APN settings when you are on vanesaur and create a new APN on newt ROM with those settings. Sorry if this is completely irrelevant

Sorry, didn't see you're not on vzw.
Is the network setting on "CDMA auto (PRL)"?
That's the network setting for CDMA 3G.

[Q] Note 2 in Afghanistan.

I heard that the Note 2 is a world phone. My question is this. Can I purchase a phone from verizon unlock it, ship it to my wife in Afghanistan (she has GSM service) and install her sim without issues? The reason I ask is I am not sure if she is good at changing settings because she is kinda used to an iphone.
When she gets back I would also like it to work on Verizons network because that is the service that we have here.
Thank you for any information you can give me.
For voice and text, it should work out of the box as the Verizon variant is unlocked. If you want data though, you need to do a little work as Verizon wants you to use their global roaming so they left out the APN data. Below is a link to that process. Alternatively, some of the custom ROMs (like Beans) add that in for you. Hope this helps.

Not working in India on Vodafone N other Gsm networks

You could just program the APN settings, etc before you ship it to her.
If it was me, I would get the phone... unlock it and install one of the stock based roms (beans, cleanrom, etc)
Configure it to her network, her email, etc.
Flash a nandroid of it using clockwork mod or twrp onto the sd card you are sending to her, and a spare smaller one just for that. Take a couple of pictures of how to restore a nandroid and print them out.
That way if for whatever reason something goes wrong with the phone that isn't hardware related, she can flash it back to a working condition.
(I say a spare card also just incase the sd crashes on her at some point)
It is super easy, so if she isn't that confident around screens normally this should work fine.
What carrier does she have?
We can look all the info needed up with the name of the network, etc.
If she doesn't have anything already, then afghan wireless sold by telestial is a decent affordable provider.

[Q] one max on t mobile.

I'm currently using my bone stock untouched Verizon max on t mobile. Looking for a rom that will work well on this carrier, or better than the stock Verizon rom in global mode. I did put in apn settings however mms msg's are hit or miss as well as lte. I get lte randomly, but mostly stay in "h" but the factory Verizon rom won't let me edit carrier code settings (310-260 for t-mobile).
So in the short if anyone has successfully done the switch to t-mobile with their Verizon variant one max and what rom worked the best for you or worked well in general would be appreciated.
Thanks
my experience
I have the sprint version and I am using it on t-mobile. Vipers rom has the best stability and options. You should be able to edit apns and everything on there. I was having issues but I believe mine to be strictly from being the sprint version, which i know i should've found the verizon one, but too late lol.
I was running CM11 and everything was working for me but I had random lockups when the phone was asleep so i went back to using Viper rom.
