hello everyone
i have xperia x10i and i want to install 2.3 gingerbread on my phone
what i have tried is
put the Release Candidate Cyanogen CM7.0 RC4 v014 stock
!release_CM7RC4_014_alpha
!release_CM7RC4_013
i have tried this by puttting the update.zip on root of my mobile then on xrecovery i have done install update.zip
rebooted
but my mobile is stuck on reboot loop and i have no luck in successfully doing that i have tried 3 roms but none them are working
please help anyone please
Have you tried putting the zip-file in a different folder, e.g. "zip-files", and then move to that folder using the "install custom-zip"-possibility, and then install the ROM?
And do you follow the instructions, like wiping the caches etc.?
Lots of success,
kwarkje
no i have not done this and i have done full wipe
wipe dalvik cache before updating nothings working

If you want GB from J.. flash baseband .52 and install ROM via xRecovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911364
I'm attempting to install the new Zmod Cyanogenmod 7.1 but am encountering problems with xrecovery unable to read the SD/card when installing. Supposidly the new version of xrecovery will fix my issue but when I looked at the thread listed "2.3 STOCK ROM" as a requirement.
Now I cant update to the official 2.3.3 rom as im on O2UK, but I'm currently running Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 (on baseband 0.52) so will I still be ok to update to the new version of xrecovery?
Also just a quick question as its been a while since I installed a new rom, it's baseband first (any .71?). My phone will still be rooted, busybox still installed, etc, as I've done all this before? Then install new .zip via xrecovery?
(I've already read the newbie threads so please don't just point me there, simple yes/no answers will suffice. I'm just a little confused about going from custom install to custom install.)
edit: could this be a problem with going from a 0.52 baseband to a 1.71? This thread talks about 0.54 but could it be something simiar? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053221
install xRecovery-0.3 (GBready) using flashtool
Here is the guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196808
He needs to install baseband .71, better if he just installed gb and root it.
from 2.1 or 2.2 baseband less then 2.1.71
u need flash 2.3.x room 1st after that use flash tools flash baseband 2.1.71....
if from 2.1/2.2 u flash baseband 2.1.71 after flash the 2.3.x rom that xrecovery cant use anymore,
u neef flash via flash tool to baseband to 2.1.67, do it from 2.1/2.2 as well
7.03 android 2.2.3 baseband 2.1.67
7.10 android 2.3.5 baseband 2.1.71

So install the zmod 7.1 .zip through my current version of xrecovery first, then use flashtool to upgrade the baseband to .71, root and then install the new xrecovery (as in the first reply)?

I might give this a try first as at least I'll have a fully working x-recovery before I start. After I've installed it this way can I go back to my 0.52 baseband and CMod 7.0.3 if I want?

Well I installed xrecovery via the instructions on that link and my phone is now stuck on the SE loading screen. This is exactly what I wanted to avoid as my phone is not running stock 2.3.3. Can I have a fix please!
edit: Ok got it working by installing the .zip and flashing the .71 baseband. Thanks.
Guys currently i m on stock GB with francos kernel (2nd October) & want to flash cyanogen 6.5.8....
But it is not compatible with .35 based kernels so is there any way to downgrade to the old kernel other than flashing froyo through kdz....
I searched the whole forum but didn't found anything....
Plz tell me how to proceed??
1. flash baseband
2. flash ROM
3. flash kernel
OR
Any other sequence???
Normally, when you'll flash the rom, the kernel will be included in.
Search a bit for threads about baseband.
So which kernel is included in cyanogen????
& does this mean that my kernel will automatically revert back to old after flashing ROM????
The only way to use mik OS after flashing any 2.3.3 stock based ROM ( kernel is not the matter here ) other than KDZ is to flash a BASEBAND FIX given in the mik_OS main Thread but I think mobile data is disabled in that FIX. So, I think u're stuck bro without KDZ-ing !

2) SuperOneClick will do all the work, and when he finish my phone will be rooted? yeah phone will be rooted but you must update superuser too. i think it's binaries aren't updated
about ROM:
1) What is "Old BaseBand" ? Refers to baseband before you updated to gingerbread 2.3.3.
2) Those ROM's are good for my phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20340697
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354 read reviews. if it matches your own way on how you will plan to use your phone then try it.
3) If those ROM are not good for my phone, what ROM should i install? idk im stuck with stock gb rom
4) Kernel: When i will install ROM,I have to install a custom Kernel Too? some roms have already packed with kernels. just remember .32 goes with .32 and .35 with .35 and the most important READ
5) After I rooted my phone,I installed Rom Manger.
Can i flash a ROM with ROM Manger?

As far as I know.

But i still don't understand the Old BaseBand .
All O1 phones are Old BaseBand before they updated to 2.3.3?
So if my phone is android 2.2.1 he is old BaseBand?
If u have android 2.2.1 u can root using gingerbreak.
to root download gingef break
den instLl rom managed
install recovery ( make sure u hve wifi / fast net )
den choose any rom nd kernel
juat make sure kenel version nd roms kernel eg. mik 6.6.1 can use .35 kernel but 6.5.8 can !
i m dont suggestin rom & kernel bcoz i m also findin nice one !
i hope i helped !
press thanks !
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
U can install both of the roms as they support old baseband and it is not necessary to flash a diffrent kurnel with a rom
Since u have 2.2.1 root using gingerbreak and u need to flash recovery before flashing custom rom it is the first option in rom manager.

Hi, i'm new to this, and i need a bit of your expertise.
Right now i have MiniCM7 2.1.7 last update from original poster : nobodyatall
And nAa kernel
What i have to do to change for another rom ? like Paul-xxx's rom ?
I have to wipe data/factory reset and then install like the first one i did, will wi fi work with paul's room ?
I want to change room because this one uses a lot of battery, even all day basically idling.
I turned it on 7:30 AM and now it's 17:43 and there's only 54% left ...
Thank you

If u want to switch to another ROM follow these steps
1) download the *.zip (the ROM zip)
2) go into the recovery n flash it..
3)make a cache wipe n also a factory reset..
4)reboot ur from recovery
Ur done..
N wifi workin in paul-xxx's ROM depends on the ROM which it is check the details on resp thread.. (actually for paul-xxx's ROM's wifi is working except ICS as its in development..) happy flashin.. ;-)
thanks, i'm a bit confused about kernels and CWM , because:
When i installed the nAa kernel this " CWM " comes along with it and then i see this on the paul's thread :
Only 2.1.1.A.0.6 SE firmware
So, if i put back the original Kernel, i won't be able to use the CWM and therefore i won't be able to flash the paul's rom, and probably will have a bricked phone, because the rom that is on the phone is not compatible with SE original kernel ..
Am i thinking right here ?
Thanks a milion

U made me confused for a sec.. lol neways.. Its the 2.1.1.A.0.6 SE firmware not the kernel.. So what u can do is .. switch to the ROM (it will have its recovery) then flash a new kernel if u want (as for nAa kernel, any other ROM than his will not work with phone vibration(if not inbuild) n few feature.. So with other ROMs go with other kerneles like zp kernel, Fa kernel or which u like.. So first change the ROM then the kernel ul go good..
I'm still confused because it says this :
If you not 2.1.1.A.0.6, you need to flash FTF file via FlashTool.
PS: hacked bootloader is not needed. This kernel official. This kernel, it returns the firmware on 2.1.1.A.0.6
" this kernel official "
So what happens if i flash the stock kernel, and then the CWM goes away ? I can't then flash the paul's rom and the phone will not enter the OS because the OS i use does not suite for SE original kernel ...
ps. sorry for being such a noob and *****, but i just don't want to brick it.
