I'm using Passion ICS v11 beta on by Vibrant, and I'm experiencing date and time issues. I have to manually set the date and time for the device. Additionally, whenever I take the battery out, the date and time reverts to like December of 2004. Setting network enabled time doesn't fix the problem. I travel a lot, so this is a big inconvenience, is there anyway to fix my problem? Thanks!
Set the timezone etc manually then after you are done click the auto mode....i have done it that way in version 10 10.6 and 11 and always stuck to the right time afterwards

My phone has been working fine all day and I just looked down at noticed the location it had was Vilnius and the time was 4:30AM. I did a reboot and even turned on GPS for handling the location and didn't fix anything. When I went into the time zone configuration it has New York, NY as my "Home" which is the closest major city to me yet it says I'm currently in Vilnius. And now it just switched to the correct location but has it being 5/12 at 4:44AM.
I just manually adjusted the time and now I'm back to being in Vilnius. The time on the HTC widget shows 4:47AM while the time on the system bar at the top says 9:47PM.
Turned off the manual time and now it went back to the correct time/date. I'm so damn confused right now.
Has this or is this happening to anyone else?
Happened to me and my wife both back in Dec. or Jan. We were on 1.5.
Are you on 1.5 or 2.1? Because we have had no problems since updating to 2.1 root.
2.1 from the how to in the dev forum

People in here have the same experience:
http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/20348-eris-google-maps-my-location.html
My phone says I'm in Xuzhou, China whenever I'm in Tustin, California. And it's not just the weather/maps; it's the clock in the notification bar too.
Thanks for the help. I guess I'll wait and see what happens when the OTA hits my phone.
From my experiences with this bug, it's related to the cell tower, not the phone. I tested with three different Erises, on three different versions of the software, simultaneously.
Me too...
I have the OTA 2.1, and now my Eris is showing Vilnius as my location.
I was having a few buggy issues, so I did a factory reset this morning. The Vilnius thing happened tonight, and no matter what I do, it comes back. I've tried clearing my cache on the weather app, switching location on/off, changing my clock app settings, etc.
If I go to Settings/Date&time then uncheck and recheck the "Automatic - Use network-provided values" box, it will go to the correct time for a bit. So far it has changed back every time.
Grrr....
Mine eventually sorted itself out but I had to do the manual time/location management for a few days.
Before someone says to use Search feature, I already did that and I couldn't find true solution for this issue....specifically for Vibrant
Why does my Vibrant sets wrong timezone? My alarms didnt set off for 2 days so I noticed thru flaw that my time was messed up. It's set to Central when I am in Eastern zone. No where near central zone. I know many suggested to disable network time auto update but why is it doing that? Also when I disable auto change feature, it turns on by itself when I reboot my phone next time....Can I permanently disable auto time update or make auto time update work correctly please???
Is it 2.1 issue? model specific issue? or what? I mean having correct time is so basic thing in any phone.
please advice!
thank you,
I have the same problem. And my vibrant will automaticlly turn on the debugging mode after every reboot.
I also have this problem. I have to set the timezone manually when I leave my home base (Eastern Time). My iPhone seems to pick up the local time correctly, so I am confused.
I live in GA, about 40 miles from AL and I had this issue last year on my G1. When I would drive to work (away from AL) once I got a total of about 60 miles away the time would switch back to Eastern. It was absolutely consistent. I never figured out what was causing it and it resolved itself after about a month. My guess is that there was a TMO network issue.

Hello folks,
can anyone confirm if their gps locking works as well as it did in the last version of ICS. I used to get a lock within 10 seconds and after the update it takes as long as 5 minutes. I flashed b.1.10 2 and .154 2 times just to check and it seems .154 has the problem and not 1.10.
Anyone else here facing the same issue?
Try initial lock
I am on GB 2.3.7 so I can't really say. But when I was on ICS B.10, my first lock took 10 minutes and then it was down to 30sec-1min
Download an app called Android Speedometer to find out about satellite status. Do a factory reset and then leave your phone with GPS on
outside for around 20 min to get a first fix. Then it should work fine. Also try procuring the right gps.conf file for your country. I don't know how
to do that, but try searching the forums.
Hope I helped..........
Re:
Even I had the same issue. I'd advice you open gps.conf in system/etc folder and edit the NTP servers with ones which are closer to you Also use GPS Toolkit from Market to clear all previous data and download new AGPS data. The first lock might be slow but future locks will be much faster Best of Luck !
Cheers
On the latest nightlies my XT910 (umts_spyder) is not using WiFi location.
GPS and Cell location are working. I tracked my location
history and find out that the issue occured with an update
at the end of march. Unfortunately i can't say, which nightly
i installed before and after it was not working. I only can say,
that i was running a cm11 nightly before 03/26 and the wifi location
worked. With an update available at 03/26 no wifi location was used
anymore. In this time i updated the nightlies once a week (may be two)
using cm-updater ota.
I also tried a clean install of the 2014-04-17 nightly on a newly
created SS rom slot 1 --> didn't work.
I read that someone also described this issue in the dev-thread but there
was no real feedback. Does anyone know, if this issue is already known to the
devs and if thy are working on it?
Seems that nobody has an idea... but I still have this issue and tried alot.
(New nightlies in clean slots; other cm-based roms, various switching of
possible options...)
Now the interesting part:
One try was to flash an old nightly, For this nightly I know that the wifi-location
worked with it. But surprisingly after flashing it didn't work ... so I think, that issue
isn't related only to changes in nightlies.
Yesterday proofed it. I restored an SS-Backup from the end of February. And for
a short time after the boot my location was correct and as precise as it was before.
Around half an hour later the location was unprecise again and wifi wasn't used
anymore. The only thing happened in the meantime, was the pushing of updates.
So I'm quite sure, that a silently pushed update of a google package or service
is causing it.
I also checked my location history again and compared it to my backups. During this,
I noticed, that I wasn't flashing any update the time, when the wifi-location mode or "fused
location provider" stopped working correctly... for me it was around lunchtime on March 26...

Thanks for that. Now I know it's probably not device-spezific.
Also tried with a clean install of M6 snapshot... issue persists
I've been facing this weird issue on OxygenOS that my OPX isn't showing the right time zone. I'm (GMT +7) and it'd always show (GMT +8). I could simply turn automatic off and set my time zone right, but then I can't login to my Snapchat:crying:.
Before the issue happen though, I was jumping from MoKee ROM to OOS (which has my suspicions on) for the first time.
Been searching the web but nothing. Any help? Is there any way to force time zone through root? Thanks!
p.s. I've tried all of OOS build from the first build ever (which is a specific Indonesia build) and the issue still persist.
Not sure this help.
Go to twrp and set your time to gmt +7
