[Q] Baseband...? - Optimus One, P500, V General

Okay, I have baseband "V07u Mar-23-2009" But people keep talking about "v10" and "v20" so I have no idea what baseband I'm on, I've previously flashed sonygenmod and CM7 from Mik_OS on here with no issues...
So, am I on the new or old baseband... if I'm on the old, should I upgrade to the new one?

you are on old baseband v10, if you want to use official gingerbread 2.3.3 or lupohirps ics etc then flash new baseband.
(baseband will be mentioned in rom thread)

what wud the "baseband version" be displayed in settings once we flash new baseband??
as with old BB it displays--->V07u Mar-23-2009
with new BB-------> ???

No matter if you are on new or old baseband, that field will always display the same text.
If your last stock ROM was a Froyo one (v10x), then you're on old baseband. If your last stock ROM was a Gingerbread one (v20x), then you're on new baseband. That simple.
But, since you were running the mik_os port just fine, then for sure you're on old baseband.

help needed installing ROM

I've seen many roms uploaded here but do not know if they would work on my X10.
I have rooted it. Busybox and Xrecovery installed..
Firmware version : 2.1 update 1
baseband version : 2.0.46
Kernal version : 2.6.29
Build number : 2.0.A.504
I'm new to all of this so any help would be appreciated
I wanted to install this.. would it work on mine?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865580
I think that ROM requires the 2.0.2.A.0.24 build number. You can flash the build firmware using flashtool. And then you can install this ROM with xRecovery I believe.
I've heard you can lose your 3g conenction, is this true? I'm on o2 in the UK.. does this matter?
You can lose your signals if you don't flash the correct baseband I believe.
ALWAYS make a backup of your original ROM before installing a new one, so that if any problem occurs or if youre unsatisfied with the ROM, you can revert back to the old one.

[Q] Can someone explain to me the basebands, ROMS, and f/w files?

Ok so I have the x10i
Baseband is 2.1.54
Build number is 2.1.A.0.435
What do they mean ? and how do these affect roms, ( are roms specific to certain basebands or build numbers?)
and would Cyanogen CM7.0 RC4 v013 Gingerbread 2.3.3 work on my phone?
Thanks for you help this is a one time question and I plan to understand this stuff once and for all
Basebrand basically just means what type of radio signal I believe. Build number is the firmware that you have. Usually ROMS require a certain type of basebrand, so always look for it before you flash anything. CM 7 wouldn't work on your phone because you are running .54 basebrand and it runs on .52 basebrand. If you do not have the correct basebrand you can have a bootloop in which your phone basically doesnt function at all. If you fairly new to this i suggest you flash a stable ROM such as CM6.1.3 by wolfbreak or Freex10 Rom by Z.(both work with .54 basebrand) CM7 is too unstable for a new user to be testing
Alright thanks!
I will check out those roms
So ROMs can work on any Firmware version? but they are only working for certain basebands?
There's normally a list of requirements on the ROM thread that you want to flash. Should normally work if you have the correct basebrand though. =)
Thanks!
Baseband - it is concerned with the cellular reception , signal strength, data etc. The newer the baseband the better reception.
Each rom works on a specific baseband just like posted above.

Future Update with Baseband

Hi firends,
Im now currently using CM 6.1.3 gingerbread V01 by rendeiro2005.
and i have upgraded my BB to .58.
And if official GB 2.3 is released and i want to update to that using SEUS,do i need to revert back to the stock baseband i had or will it work with the present baseband?
Guys please revert to my query!
Why not just wait for it to be released first before asking
no.
baseband had nothing to do with it.
but you won`t be notify (on any custom rom)

New baseband no signal problem

I just updated to new baseband, I flashed several NewBB roms, and there is no signal for any of them. When I first finished updating my new baseband, I had signal and data on the stock t-mobile rom. I checked settings, and the android version is 2.3.7 but the baseband version is unknown. If I can't find a solution to this, can someone give me a flashable zip version of t-mobile stock rom, (or any other stock rom) Please help, because I was so excited to explore newbb roms.

Noob question regarding basebands

Hello,
I have a stock froyo rom installed, so I have an old baseband. That is clear.
If I install a stock ginger rom using the LG official updater, will it update the baseband as well?
thanks
The Stock GB ROM from LG comes with the new Baseband.
Update to GB through LG updater and you'll automatically update to the new Baseband.
If you do not want to update baseband, you can still root froyo, flash a custom recovery, use the baseband fix and try out any of the custom GB or ICS roms from this forum.
Keep a nandroid froyo recovery as a backup, just incase you choose to go back to the froyo rom.
