I used Rom Toolbox yesterday to remove a bit of bloat from the ota rom. So far no problems.
I noticed that it has kept my phone awake for 16 hours also. Guess it is time to root so i can freeze some bloat
I actually updated it from the market and it stopped running because it "isn't compatible". Froze it to be safe though.
Weird I don't have that app at all ? Unless I already deleted it without thinking about it ?
Does anyone know what the heck it's for lol, go figure Verizon.

Exactly! Why verizon has to keep screwing with our phones is beyond amazing. There a way to get this pos crapware to stop running without root?
I see there are other android devices that got this in previous updates.
What the hell is it, and why aren't more people up in arms over it!
The name of it alone is spooking me out.
Oh and the lost battery life isn't thrilling either.

Probably a way to locate your phone for whatever reason. may or may not be used most likely as a "find my phone" tool as T Mobile uses, or that could be the scapegoat reason.
I'm assuming/hoping the devs pumping out ROMs from here on out will have it removed.
Just root and freeze it. No issues after freezing.
Is this just a normal app in the app drawer after OTA, or is it hidden somewhere, if so, where is it?
it's hidden, ya can't open it from what i can tell
cleanrom gb 1.6 doesnt seem to have it..must of been removed by dev..good thing.
EDIT: found it in the rom..guess i missed it..anyway I just froze it

Check out an app called Rom Toolbox. The free version will work fine.
Once you start it up, run its App Manager, and there will be a list of apps, and you can filter the apps by downloaded, system, etc.
Also has the option to backup the apps first, in case things go bad and you want to restore. I've tried the restore option but some apps didnt reinstall for me well. But anyway, i use it to uninstall stuff that I know is safe.
Hope that helps. Good luck with however you chose to uninstall apps.
You can also find it by browsing to /system /apps. (thanks to Scrosler).

It's supposed to search for the best connection/tower/whatever on the network, is what I read on another forum - and drain your battery in the process. To disable it on the Rezound (if you're not rooted) go to the Market and download the update. Then find it in your app drawer, and when you tap on it, it will tell you it's not compatible with your device. You can close it at that point, and it stops running. Otherwise, you'll be lucky to get 8hrs standby time on your battery.
ok should we hit uninstall to uninstall updates, or just close it?
cuz its still running after i back out when it says incompatible

I have been having battery issues for about 3 weeks now. Plus the phone is nowhere near as fast as it was. As you can see, I'm not getting what I should from the MAXX battery. I'm on the .75 leak and have been for 2 months. How do I figure out what is killing my phone?

I'm pretty sure that's just from the unrefined nature of the .75 leak. Have you considered updating to the .79 leak? It remains fastbootable while patching a lot of bugs and I would guess increase performance.
I don't think so. I've had ICS for 2 months now and the problem is only recent. I don't know if it is an app I downloaded or what. The problem is that I don't know how to find out what it is. Between Amazon free apps and other programs, I don't know how to diagnose what is killing my battery and slowing my phone down. I am sure there is a way to figure it out, I just don't know how other than deleting an app a day and watching performance. I imagine there must be an easier way.

Do you always use 4G? It has higher power consumption.
Do you have any under clock settings for screen off that you just set, the lower frequency could be keeping it out of deep sleep.
And to see what apps are using up your battery, download Watchdog Task Manager Lite, it informs you of tasks, apps or processes that are using up a lot of cpu, memory and keeping your phone awake while in deep sleep.

I stopped using WiFi 2 days after getting the phone because 4G is honestly faster and I still have unlimited data. I have never used any set-cpu settings because I never felt I had to with this phone like I did on my DInc2. The issue I have is it was working great one day, and suddenly the performance changed without anything I can think of other than keeping skype on. I just flashed back to .181 with the expected ICS OTA. Totally screwed up. Didn't nandroid, didn't TB, just did it on a whim. Now I have encountered a whole new set of issues. It's gonna be a long night. Once I get all this fixed, I will try the app you suggested so thanks. Sigh.
"The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." And now I can't do crap with it other than reboot. Man, I should have just left well enough alone. Dammit.

Yeah.. just flashed back to .181. Voodoo rootkeeper didn't work. I got root back through the razr utility. TB wouldn't work but then I rebooted and it worked although I got the error message I mentioned above. Did a factory reset. Kept root but now my backup directory in TB is not available. Tried rebooting and it still won't work. At this point, all I care about is that my alarm works and I can go to bed and work on it again tomorrow. BTW.. after having ICS for the last few months, I forgot how much Gingerbread sucks just on a user friendly level. Took me a Google search to remember how to turn on USB debugging.
Nevermind. You can't restore from TB while still plugged and in debugging mode because the system can't access the SD card. D'oh!
Note to all users. Always back your s**t up before you mess with your phone. I hadn't TB'd in a week and lost all my notes from this week. Thankfully the phone is working back to normal on 2.3, but I lost some numbers I needed to call because I forgot to backup.
Good news: I can focus on my original problem and find out what is killing the battery.
Bad news: I didn't TB and don't know where my dentist appt is tomorrow, lost the numbers to 2 new clients and 1 new booty call.
Extra bad news: She was really hot too. :crying:

Keeping Skype on, especially when not connected to WIFI was most likely your problem, look at how low your cell standby was in that screenshot, that's indicative of something constantly using the cell radios and clearly it wasn't your voice calls, so skype maintaining a constant data connection plus it preventing the phone from going to deep sleep is almost certainly the source of that problem.

The problem now is that when I root through Matt's utility and then restore with TiBu, it creates all sorts of issues with my phone like my home screen reloading, the calendar being unable to load, the home button not working, etc. The phone is fine now, but I want it back to all the settings I had. Could it be because I backed up while on ICS and now am trying to restore on GB?
Any suggestions here?

The backing up on ICS and restoring to GB would only mess up if you're restoring apps and data because ICS app data isn't compatible with GB.

Hello everyone
I'm experiencing some problems with my battery being drained rather fast. I'm running one of the latest CM nightlies but my phone is empty after only 11 hours.
I've attached graphs made with Better Battery Stat to this post. My usage to was: The phone didn't leave my house and i didn't use the audio. I used it from time to time to play a game (BounceBall) read a bit on the internet (Chrome) or Reddit (Reddit News).
Despite never moving my phone Google Maps/NetworkLocations seem to be run pretty frequent. How can i disable this? And is there anything else that mgiht be wrong with my phone causing a battery drain?
Thanks in advance
Note maps qnd location services. Disable them and you'll be fine.

i'd strongly recommend also to use Juice Defender in agressive mode on. With that, your data connection will be enabled every 30min instead of being always on in the background... this saves me a lot of battery as well.
I have upgraded from ICS stock to JB stock and now my battery lasts much less than before. I am considering donwgrading to ICS 4.0.3
Hope it helps.
I'd strongly recommend you don't use Juice Defender. At all. Ever. That app (and similar apps) was designed to hoover money from n00bs who don't know better.

it's a free app, and I've tested with and without, and for me it makes a huge difference. if you never tried before, you should before saying it doesn't work... it's only 3mb and runs only 1 service on the background (around 6mb).
I did try it back when I was using a black wallpaper so I would get better battery life, on GB!

JuiceDefender does nothing you can't do yourself, and you'll pay a drain penalty for the (false) 'convenience'.
Prey is as good as it gets so far as those apps are concerned.
Lol, when you start looking into a device you're thinking about getting, when you're new to all of this, you only get the "battery life" part, hence you become obsessed with it.
The crazy thing is that you don't even know how your device behaves until you actually use it without all these apps, but you don't know that, so the first thing you get from play store, it's a juice saver app.
I should know, been there done that.
Sent from the little guy
Unless you read the advice of people who know from experience that these things use more juice than they save before you get your phone (Which is what I did for over a month before I got mine).
I didn't read any of that until I had already bought green power and weren't even using it.

Good news for all Elnarnians!
EDIT: wonder how long before cmahendra figures out the url to the update
Seems odd that it took them so long to figure out there was a problem. And don't they test this stuff before releasing? Of course they do. I think I have to go with carloswii5. They must have found a vulnerability.
I think it may be a mixture of both, on my device battery life is absolutely horrible, on a good day I need to charge it 2 times a day, but usually 3... The vibration on it cuts in and out sometimes, such as now... Some times the vibration works when I type but other times it doesn't... Hopefully they send out a new update correcting these problems... Or I'll have to get a external battery

No degradation in battery life but battery app is broken
I did not really notice a degradation in my battery life. However, I do see that the battery app is sort of broken. When you go to 'Battery Use', my P769 always shows the screen taking 3% of my battery life. That has to be incorrect because the screen will take over 30% of your battery life under the best conditions. Note that I have no games or 3G/4G being used and neither do I listen to or stream music at all. So, the screen usage percentage is definitely wrong.
So let me ask this... For those of us that DID take the update to JB and things are broken... When this update resumes, will we get another FOTA to fix it? Or are we stuck with this crap now?

Even your app preferences? For example... I have purchased ADW EX... EVERY time I boot the phone, it asks me which launcher I want to use by default. I choose ADW, and press "Always." Next reboot, same thing. It does this for ALL of my apps that have conflicting apps. Music, Gallery, etc.
I'm downloading the 10e for T-Mobile... So I think I'm just gonna try and install that, and once I'm back on ICS, Root, and use the root keeper, then update. We shall see... This download is slower than molasses though.
EDIT: Back on ICS 10G, the 10E was a bunk download... But all my previous issues are now fixed. ...So in my case, the update was in fact at fault. Not sure why, but I no longer care. LOL

So, I "think" I have found a fix for this. I would need you all to test as well before a full confirmation is set... I downloaded "Cache Cleaner +" from the Play Store. Cleared all cache, and rebooted. My performance seems to have returned, so far... 12 hours so far as I'm typing this.
I don't believe it is the LG MLT...It could be, but for me, I have removed it completely.

Have you tried to fully debloat? I mean actually remove the apps, not disable them. This will cause issues if you want to do an OTA later, but it's easily fixed by reflashing the KDZ. I have a post in the general section telling what apps can be removed. With these apps removed and the Cache Cleaner program, I have been problem free for 2 days so far, and counting.
Alternatively, on your phone, dial 3845#*769# ... Then go to "MLT" in the menu, and disable it. This is a tracking feature on the phone. It logs GPS, User stats, etc, and sends it back to either T-Mobil or LG. This could be causing your lag... I have removed it completely, but if you don't wanna chance anything, just disable it is all. Give that a shot and see what happens
