Hit the wiki for ROMs as well as the general procedure to flash them. Do keep in mind the search engine as well, as it is your friend.

I am new to the Android world and have been looking all over for an easy step by step guide to rooting the streak and flashing 2.1 or 2.2, but most of the threads are hard to understand for a newbie i hope one would post an easy step by step guide as so far i have been unable to root Thanks all.
Good News i tried every option and finally got my Streak stuck on the DELL logo i think its bricked any help appreciated

I've used Universal Androot on the Froyo build on the Streak - for some odd reason you have to do it twice (some report three) times in a row for it to work.

So your device is now not booting and when you turn it on you just get the DELL logo right?
If yes then what I would do is either flash the ROM again via koush's recovery [I'm assuming you have a custom recovery installed because you have managed to flash a ROM and it's now not working] in the recovery options there is a partitions menu, in there wipe boot, system and cahce reflash the rom form a zip
If that dosent work, put the latest update.pkg file on your device, flash the stock recovery via fastboot then flash the update.pkg via stock recovery

i cant get any of anything to work on my streak i've tried everything from 305,318,319,345,347,351,353,354 and they all restart as soon as it loads up and goes into a boot loop...if i put streakdroid 1.7.1, 1.8.1, or 1.9, on it then it just locks up at about 1 min of using any apps i mean any app...i've used the multirecovery flasher and the qdl tool it all does the same stuff idk what im doin wrong im almost ready to throw this thing into a wall cause it wont work for me im stuck with a bull**** ass samsung and no streak....i cant take it please help me????
PS: when i first got this streak was december of last year....everything worked great on the stock 1.6 but i still cant even go back to that.....

Factory reset the phone with stock recovery. Flash streak mod recovery, clear all caches. Install 1.9.0 streakdroid.
Sounds like you just keep flashing roms on to of roms without doing resets or anything like that.

recovering Streak
My Streak was completely bricked, would not even get the Dell logo, I went to this link http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=92
and got back running, since then flashed the 318 baseband, then the other days flashed the 351 baseband, and have flashed StreakDroid 1.9 I dunno how many times because I reset and install and uninstall apps,

what if im having a hard time gettin into recovery mode?
I installed ics on my sidekinstalling new programs. sidekick 4g and it was working fine but out of nowhere i started to have problems installing programs. I restarted my phone and i get stuck at the ics graphic screen and my phone wont load fully. I made the mistake of not backing up the rom before i install it and i cant get the phone to fully boot. I already bricked one sidekick I want to be really careful. Can anyone tell lme what i should do next...please(
You should try reïnstalling the right kernel first.

You must upgrade to 407 rom then install custom rom, such as: DSC 2.2 or CM7.

Maybe this is not the fastest way to get a streak running, but I thought I might share a fairly fast way.
This procedure will take you to a completely clean pdroid DSC 2.2 Streak.
Put 407 update.pkg on the external SD
Startup in Fastboot mode and flash 407 recovery image on your device, I used multiflasher to do this
Start up in recovery mode and apply update.pkg
Let the system continue all the way until you see the welcome screen
Shut the system down by long press on power and acknowledge
Put DSCv2.0-rel.zip, PDroid-v1.31-DSCv2.0.zip and updDSCv2.2-PDroid.zip (optional DSC_StageUI.zip) on the external SD
While the system is down cut out the plastic covering the internal SD and put in a class 10 (I used a sandisk 4GB class 10)
Boot normally and let the system format the internal SD
Again, when at the welcome screen shut the system down
Startup in Fastboot mode and flash your favorite recovery for flashing .zip-files (I use StreakMod-Recovery)
Start up in recovery mode and flash all zip files in the same order as mentioned above, then wipe cache partition, clean dalwik cache and fix permissions (Optionally make a nandroid backup of the very clean system)
Done, Let the system boot up and set up your device as per your own liking
I'll monitor this thread to answer any specific questions.
PS, _n0p_, I can't thank you enough for this development and yours and everyone elses tireless support! I was so worried when your Streak was dead for a while. Lets hope there is some hope for CM9 and/or CM10

flash with: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
If you don't understand fastboot, you have a lot of reading to do before you attempt to root your Streak. Unless of course you want a shiny paperweight. Check the Development forum, the sticky posts at the top of each page, and the XDA Developers Wiki for information on how to root.

Hold down both volume buttons while turning the Streak on. Select option 2 on the screen that appears.
One thing: upgrade to ClockworkMod. Some files cannot be installed by StreakMod.

If you're running Windows, look for a thread on MultiRecovery Flasher and read it. The version of the program you want is Multiflasher, which is near the end of the thread.
hey guys! i hope someone can help me...
i have a dell streak 5 which ran 2.2.2 froyo and i was able to flash the 2.9.3 longhorn rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355878
and it was working great! had no problems at all for a couple of days.
recently, i decided to install swype keyboard on it, and had no problems...so, being the noob to android that i am, i thought id push my luck and get some themes for my streak, tried getting the Theme Pack has ICS Themed apks from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340939...
but after installed the zip file using streakmod and rebooted, my streak went berserk...kept force closing phone, system, core something...i rebooted it several times, still the same, i did wipe data/factory reset and restore factory settings but its still the same...
when i try to go to "settings" it keeps saying APP NOT INSTALLED...and now my phone doesnt event get service... :crying: :crying: :crying:
