Anyone else get a Market upgrade today to Version 3.0.27? Mine has an entire new look with Apps, Games, Books and Movies! I'm liking it!
Yup, I spent a lot of time browsing movies. Anyone know if we can get them on the gTab/what ROMs?

My GTab already has Netflix working so I don't want to rent one from the Market. My GTab is rooted and running TNT 4.4 ROM.
My build.prop is edited as:

They're afraid rooted devices can pirate the movies. Like they said it wont play through the market but.....hey have you checked YouTube lately.....
My Vegan-tab gingeredition auto-updated it's market sometime yesterday. I don't even see the movies option. Apps/Games/Books.

Well, it's a DCMA restriction to prevent piracy... so unless they bring in some heavy DRM protection, rooted devices won't be able to play movies through the market.
Quoted from Google Support:
Playback not supported on rooted devices (Error 49)
We do not support playback on rooted devices for copyright protection reasons. You can enjoy your movie on a different device, or on your computer at market.android.com/movies, or on youtube.com/movies if you have a YouTube account.

Is anyone else having issues with the Market on VeganTab Gingerbread version 7. My wifes table is running that. When I launch the Market, it crashes after 6 or so seconds. I removed the update, and it worked for 30 seconds, but then I guess it repushed it self and then crashes again. Tried clearing cache, and all that jazz, but seems like the new version of market isn't working any longer
Are people having issues with Vegan Tab 5.1.
Thanks for any advise or comments

Why in the world would anyone want to rent movie from market? It's a waste of money.
just got my TP yesterday. Love it so far. One of the first things I did was install the hulu patch (can't believe hulu just locked out web os users) it worked great on 3 different occasions last night and tonight no such luck. Tried uninstall via preware then reinstall then reboot but still nothing. Any ideas?
thanks in advance....
nooooooooooo I just installed the patch lol oh well good thing I have my laptop. Does anyone watch wilfred
i just tried it as well to see if it was an isolated incident.. unfortunately it's not... the hulu patch no longer works on my touchpad either
"Unfortunately Hulu is not supported on your platform. We apologize for any inconvenience"
Blocked for me also.
Yeah. Not working for me either but I'm sure there will be an update.

Then complain to Hulu, not the patch writer.
http://www.hulu.com/support/contact
yeah cause hulu will say "oh we are sorry, its not like we purposefully blocked your device on purpose purposefully". the touchpads browser version string and flash version string both read as not being listed as mobile devices on hulus block list. then they blocked the touchpads flash version which the hulu patch fixed. dunno this time if its the browsers version string on the new flash version. but im sure it can be easily fixed again. i would have recommended against changing the version string for the browser so we could get tablet versions of websites and while we should because its running the same version of webkit as the ipad, nothings different from that of a desktop.

i just complained to hulu by canceling my subscription after trying/playing with the service for around 5-6 months, it's just not worth it.
seriously it's crap.. not only can i not watch from my TP, my sony TV which legitimately has a Hulu app cannot stream most of the stuff from hulu due to hulu saying "we don't have right to stream to TV for this video"
90% of the videos has to be watched on a browser with a computer. not to mention the premium service still has COMMERCIALS, WTF? i specifically wrote down why i'm canceling and i hope others do the same.
what a pointless service..
I emailed hulu and told them I canceled via my touchpad.
Can't use hulu on Googletv either.
Eff em.
I wouldn't advise updating the Netflix app. I did yesterday and now I only get audio and no video. I'm running CM7 beta. Can anyone using stock or another rom confirm if yours is working. I saw in the app market comments that others were having problems as well but haven't seen anything over here.
I have stock gingerbread and I don't have any video issues. Although I was getting like a fast forward audio/video thing when I started a movie. It corrected after I stopped and started it. I like it better because they fixed the orientation situation.

Well I guess it's a cm7 problem like the HBO to Go app. Damn, I love the rom but this needs to be fixed. Hopefully I can flash a backup to get it going again.
yup i had the same issues. i just re-installed a backup of 1.4.0 and it works fine again.
Well, I did a cwm restore from a backup I did 2 days ago. I opened netflix and gave me an error about my device being deactivated, I just clicked through the ok's and it logged me out. I logged back in and all was well. Also, after reviewing the bug reports on CM7, I came across an interesting fix that may work for plex, I'll post the link below in the hopes that it will help somebody.

The Amazon Instant Video APK has been pulled from the Kindle Fire and can be installed on the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
A couple of caveats:
(1) To use the Prime Instant video features, you must first purchase something to login. There is no separate login otherwise.
(2) It appears to only work over wifi
(3) If your device is rooted, it will not work.

Umm...for the simple fact that you can use Voodoo OTA temp unroot from the Market. Also the new version of this APK in todays 6.2 update doesnt work. It says this device is not suppose to be able to run Amazon Video Player.
I assume Amazon is cracking down...

Never heard of temp unroot, thanks, but yeah, as of late, amazon released a fire update, ruining everyones root on the fire and deleting the market. Probably part of that updated.
Pr0tip: This works on Gingerbread but not on HoneyComb.
Bunch of hypocrites, they sell root only apps

installs and runs great on hp touchpad. however on purchase and login i get the following: Error linking device: Unknown error
What do you mean it runs great? I get to the point of seeing the button to play the video, but it is grayed out. I can play Amazon videos fine on my Exhibit II by temporarily unrooting the stock OS. It seems Cyanogenmod is somehow detected, because it doesn't work on my Nook Color with the Cyanogenmod either.

whoever wrote this article obviously has never had the balls to root a device and actually see what is possible, or even research it for that matter
I have the apk that allows me to play the videos for free that come with the amazon prime account (I signed up for a free month), but I don't see how to 'borrow' a book for free - this also comes with the prime account on kindle devices. Anyone have any information on how to do this on a Galaxy Tab?
Only Kindle devices can borrow books for free with the Prime membership. (you borrow directly from the device)
Two things. One KFHD looks for the device to be logged into amazon, I bet this requires framework not on our devices. Two, probably crashes when trying to view due to same.
Bottom line? Besides logcats to figure things out, I'm pretty sure a system dump will be needed to get the correct files to go with this......

You don't need to temp in root either. There's an xposed module called root cloak that let's you pick specific apps to hide root from. Works great
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if you guys are also getting the Sims free play as unavailable in the play store.
I had it on my tablet before updating to .21 from a fresh .15 zip but didn't reinstall it since. Today I wanted to install it again but now i can't find it in the store and on the website version it says unavailable for your device. I did notice it got an update on 6 April but it seems weird to me to make less devices supported. Anyone knows what sup? I've googled around but there wasn't anything to find on it.

Acording to Titanium Backup, the version I uploaded is 1.1.5. I tried to update it, but shows now as no compatible with my Prime. Ill try to get it on my Defy and see if it works
Thanks, Zephyrot - appreciate it!
I've found that while playing Sims Freeplay on my Prime, that everytime the game looses focus it will crash without fail. I guess that is the reason it isn't currently compatible with the Prime.
It plays fine on my GalaxyS which is where I copied it from to my Prime. Although it does get a bit slugish on the phone.
Tested it, and indeed, if the game lose focus it will crash once you go back.
I have not tried the new 1.2.3 version yet, but the 1.1 that I uploaded before does this.
Here is the link for the newer 1.2.3
I have that version already installed and it does still crash when it looses focus
Any idea how to get the game working again after it crashes? Every time I try to start the game now, it crashes after loading what looks like an ad for the latest update, which is weird. I got past the crash point once by restarting the TFP, but that hasn't worked again.

What seems to work for me is to turn off the wifi after the game does it's first server content check then turn it back on after it tells me I need an I an internet connection to play. Click on retry quickly when you turn the wifi back on. I still occasionally get the add pop up but not as often.
Not really sure if this will work for you though but probably worth a shot.

That works for me to. Have to turn off your wifi start the game and wait for it to mention no internet connection, then turn on the wifi again and hit retry. This method also works if you get the ad up that crashes the game.
