Hi,
I'm using CM7.1 on a SGS I9000, and when selecting Hebrew, all the menus appear in this language. I'm not sure if it's a feature of CM7, or someone enabled it just for SGS I9000 and other selected devices.
Before installing the CM7 for this device (I5500), I want to ask if it supports the Hebrew language (I mean full menu display in this language, not just RTL and font support)
Thank you

sure it's a language available in CM7, how couldn't it be that way?
A rom / firmware is what we can call a OS (it's an easy way to call it, 'cause it's not really an OS) and thus it has inside languages! You can even check with an archive manager (apk files could be opened with it) and open apk like LatinIME or Setting, for example, and you'll find the supported languages..

You won't be able to escape the soft reboot at this time. It is a known problem. Have you tried instead to port the Arabic language supporting apps to the vibrant?
1: if you dont get many answers here, it is because you posted in the wrong section.
2: and since you joined in 2005 i'll assume you know how; but to get arabic on your phone and by arabic i mean read and write, flash CM 6 or wait for CM7.
good luck

It's more than just the apps. Due to Google's broken support for Arabic (even in Gingerbread!) Samsung has baked in some third-party solution for their Middle East ROMs.

If I'm not mistaken, full Arabic support isn't fully working on CM6 or 7 either.

yes, you are mistaken. The UI is not arabic supported but reading and writing is supported.
You can write arabic in emails, and sms with SlideIT keyboard. It has Arabic support. It is available from Market. After installing native English version, you can download Arabic support add-on free of charge. It will let you type Arabic in SMS, emails, and web. I tested it by sending a couple of test emails in Arabic and Persian, receiver was able to read them on their PC (OutLook) and Vibrant. I guess, SlideIt works best with Froyo or Gingerbread even though default Arabic language support is broken in those OS.

Is there any way how to add Czech UI localization ? I have 2 ROMs:
1. Official one with Czech localization (but I can not us it, because not working 3G)
2. Another one with missing Czech localization.
Both of them are Android 2.2.2.
Is there any simple way, how to transfer localization?
Sorry to say, there is really no simple way to do that. localisation is often app dependant, which would mean you have to decompile, change and recompile multiple apk's (framework, launcher, settings, etc.)
Hello, I have compiled a LatinIME for ICS B010SP3
This is all supported languages
The LatinIME.zip unpack and then the LatinIME.apk
copy with root support in system / app
reboot, and then make the settings for the languages
Have fun
regards
Dieter
I do not have 10 posts so I must write it here
sorry for my bad english
You are a great great man (or woman).
Does anyone know - how to unlock spell checking? There are only 5 languages in options, but this apk has much more languages.

is there a way you can make something like this for the phone.apk problem? Like taking files from the international rom and converting them to the tmobile springboard?
that way i can turn my my tmobile s7-303u springboard stock rooted ICS 4.0.3 into a working phone without loosing 4g and still having the tmobile OTA updated stock rom which doesn't give problems like the int'l rom does!?
Hello,
I am an Irish language enthusiast, and I would like to have the option to use Android in Irish.
Older Samsung phones had this ability, possibly others.
It's clear that Google is not going to add this to stock Android in the near future, so I'd like to do it myself!
How would I go about adding Irish as a language to Android?
I would be able to do the translation myself, I understand that this probably requires making a custom ROM
(I have no experience with making custom ROMs)
Could anyone explain the process of doing this to me, as I'd really love to try it out !
Thanks (I hope!)
Search "Language Enabler" on Play Store (Root Required)

Currently, you can "unhide" languages with root on a Sumsung device even without switching ROMs (root is still required). Search "Language Enabler" on Play Store.

You can also add languages by editing the APK .... and by creating a folder in apk/Res/values-id ..... where id is the language to add ... for example for english is vaules-en .... and add the file within string.xml with the translated strings ...
Hello everyone
I'm considering buying the GTR, but I still don't understand if RTL languages like Arabic and Hebrew are properly working for app notifications natively, or you still need to make some hacks and custom changes.
Is there an official statement about this from Amazfit?
Thanks
I am using the watch with Hebrew and I assume that Arabic is the same.
Set your phone to the selected language and open the app.
The each will install the correct font.
