Rom Manger updated for Photon - Motorola Photon 4G

My question is, will I lose 4G if I install Clockwork this way? And what will it do to my Droid2x bootstrap I all ready have. installed.
Thanks
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium

Clockwork will not make you lose anything. The droid 2 bootstrap recovery is not going to be lost if clockwork is installed.
Your 4G is a signal and it won't be lost unless you are not in the range of your 4G.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium

So it won't unlock my bootloader that will make the photon lose the ability to receive 4G?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium

In order to install the full CWM you need to be unlocked, and unlocking BL kills 4g. Im not sure how Rom Manager does it, but if its just bootstrap you can use it while still locked BL(aka with 4g working). Hope it helps you some, goodluck!

Didn't work error Failed to Boot 2, had to pull battery.
Droidx2 bootstrap still works.
Won't boot in to stock recover with power and up vol buttons,
will if you use boot into recovery menu option in Rom Manger.
Needs more Work.

It needs more work because you're not doing it right. If you are using bootstrap on the Photon, then you have to plug in your phone and use boot strap to boot into recovery (like the instructions for it tell you to).
CWM can not be flashed unless your bootloader is unlocked and then you could use Rom manager to boot into recovery.
This is why you should read threads entirely.

ok im gonna flash it. im unlocked. it better work :|

Lol ok
that did not work
time to reflash recovery lol

just updated rom manager today has touch recovery now but our device isnt supported yet also our recovery still broken so dont use it to flash a recovery unless you have the means to return to your previous version.... just figured i share since i just had to fix mine again

yeah. i have to get ld cwm back, and i just switched to ubuntu so i have no idea how to use fastboot :|

Figure it out yet? Fastboot and sbf are much better in Ubuntu IMO.

Can I get some help....

Alright I just traded for a photon the guy told me it was stock and wasn't rooted. Well it was rooted and on 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198.6. The bootloader was locked though. I came tried to boot into recovery and there is no recovery there. I unlocked the bootloader and tried to install the bootstrap it worked at first but when I rebooted and tried to go back into recovery again there is none on the phone. So whats my best course of action? Use RSD go back to complete stock and start over or is there a fix for this?
i think you are mixing things up a bit, bootstrap is an app that launches a custom made recovery that is kinda like a livecd version of cwm. you have to unlock and then flash it in order for it to stick
I would double check to see if you still had root. if not, you have to re-root. then install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218417
[Unlocked Only][RECOVERY][2011-09-23] Custom CWM-based Recovery 5.0.2.3-photon2.
I remember having the same problem. I just had to repeat some steps.

Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Just rsd to the latest sbf once booted go into settings . Then privacy. Then factory data reset. OK now power off. Turn on holding volume down an power once screen says fastboot, let go and press volume down til u see android recovery. Press volume up to start it. When the icon comes up press volume down and volume up at same time. Now you are in recovery do what u need in there and soon you will back to 100% stock.

Also can you clarify how you are trying to get into recovery? And what does happen when your perform the steps to get there?

getting into cwm recovery without using bootstrap app.

Hi every 1 I did not search and don't know if any1 has posted this but on my Droidx2 I found that u do not need the use the bootstrap app to get into cwm recovery if ur phone is off and u plugg it into AC power and when the Motorola screen comes on unplug wait for a few seconds and plug AC power back in and it will boot into cwm recovery.
hope this helps if no1 new this lol
Yes pwr off & plug in = cwr as long as recovery mode is set. Rebooting no.

u don't need to unplug when u see the moto logo
if recovery mode is set all u need to do is
power off and plug in as said above
it does this because our recovery hijacks charge only mode, its the only way we can boot into BSR at this time

Note: To clarify potential confusion... The BSR (Boot Strap Recovery) is NOT the same as CWM or CWMR (ClockWorkMod or ClockWorkModRecovery). PLEASE use the correct terms to avoid confusing people. Thank you! (Sorry, pet peeve. )
Ciao!
Okay, call me stupid here, but I thought CWM didn't work with the X2? I saw another post that explained how to do it, but it confused the living hell out of me!
What are the advantages of using CWM over BSR or am I reading something wrong here?
Thanks!
To me it (ours 2.5.1.8) is a hacked version never written to be installed by an apk. They all come from cwm. Once you are in cwr you can flash a different "cwr".zip.
Whether it successfully restores your bu ONLY Tenfar has hacked one that works for the (locked BL versions of the phones) Atrix, Photon and the Dx2 and they are all the same "cwr".zip!
Ibolski are you referring to my "wish" post?
It's CWM ported to our phones. Nothing more, nothing less. It's the same thing except we have to connect our phones to a wall charger. Otherwise, once you're in there, it's the same. Looks the same, the whole works. I have CWM on a couple devices here and there isn't any difference. Perhaps some of the options don't work for the X2 but, it's still the same thing. Can you tell I'm trying to tell you that it's the same?
Thanks for the responses. I'll stick with BSR then. It just seems people were so gung-ho about CWMR and I can't see why as there isn't a clear advantage to it over BSR.
I just had an idea. How about, instead of replacing charge mode, replace stock recovery and add an option in CWM to go into the stock recovery if needed. I can't do any of it but if a developer wants the challenge.

There is no point in using a recovery from another phone that has less options then bsr. U may be able to flash stuff like bsr but if it wont restore system there is no point in even posting it other then creating confusion when people cant nandroid back after something goes wrong. Save yourself a lot of issues people use bsr and deal with pluging it in. Its functional where the alternatives are not.

If my memory serves me correctly... which it rarely does lol... because of the locked bootloader the install fails. Stock recovery is in the bootloader and we cannot modify the bootloader so we can't install recovery. Or does install but the bootloader overrides it and brings us to stock. Something like that.. vodka is making it all foggy lol I'm pretty sure that's close though
Actually i think somewhere in the system... preinstall I think. But our locked bootloader is why it does not work and cannot work. That I remember for sure

BTW
Tenfar was one smart cookie getting cwr working w/ one apk on 3 different phones.

my post about a the the newer atrix recovery WAS in response to a MX2 Q about RECOVERY SAVING AS TARBALLS and they could not get a working recovery anyway.
Now some Mx2's can use ReRecovery manually as a work around.
Edit
I have flashed lots of foreign recoveries - no problem as I never install them. They run in the same environment created by our bsr.
But using Rom Manager to install any recovery, other than the still non-functioning dx2, will require an sbf.

[Q] Bootloader ereased????? CHECK THIS OUT!!

Rooted and unlocked moto electrify.
i have been flashing roms on several phones for many years. i always rely on the devs here at xda to help me through and you guys never fail!!!
my electrify is unlocked and rooted, been running th3bills cm10 for several weeks, also tried miui aokp and others. all great roms and great work!!
i was changing my keyboard on my phone and ran into trebuchet stopped working and couldnt get it to do anything. i tried reflashing the rom without wiping hoping it would fix it but it did. i did a reset and wipe and reload of the rom and it still stopped working. i then decided to, while in recovery, partition the sd card mount just cause i like to learn and i do that by trying thing, anyway, when i did it hung up for like 5 mins. thought it was kinda long so i pulled the battery. At this point im not sure of all the steps i took to get cm10 on my phone but it took a lot. after i put the battery back in and started the phone the screen comes on, says unlocked up in the corner but no red dual core symbol, instead it has this on the screen.......................................

Its not erased. Your boot logo is erased and possibly your PDS partition is lost too. Just means you can't activate PR update your prl normally anymore.

To fix, restore your PDS through CWM, and also flash a boot logo through fastboot or cwm with a flashable zip.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Looking into that now. In the meantime....is it going to have bad affects on my ROM. Also do you know where to get files needed to fix?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
No. I actually prefer it that way. Its just an issue whenever you sbf back to stock and your phone attempts to activate itself.
As far as files and such, search via Google or xda for PDS fix, it'll show either a thread for the atrix or photon.
And then search for boot logos to flash.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
So just to clarify.... when I sbf back to stock I will have to do what to activate?
Will I have to dial *228 or what will I run into for issues?
I have already done a lot of Google searches and found the file you spoke of last night for the atrix (does it matter?) and instruction on how to push it to my phone.
Just trying to be ahead of the game and have my info before moving forward. Phone is running great with no issues so far.
Basically picking your brain for knowledge and help before I soft brick or some sh** and have to lock my bootloader to get my phone back.
So....... thank you very much for your help and insight into this. Had never seen it before.

Follow that link and since your bootloader is unlocked, use fast boot to flash. download the PDS gingerbread zip and unzip.
Doing that will allow you to ota update in case you revert to stock.
For flashing a boot logo, follow this link and read a few posts into it to find a cwm-flashable zip to restore your boot logo: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187337

I believe this is the question and then i'll leave you alone for a day or so lol
Do i have to be on a stock rom to do this or can i do it on th3bill's cm10 or other custom roms?
To you hoslayer13.... you have been a wealth of knowledge! I tip my hat to you sir!
To answer your question, yes you can be on a custom rom to do this but before you do check your PDS partition first. I am pretty sure there will be only a lost-found folder with nothing in it.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Yes it is just an empty folder. Using file manager that comes with cm10 that comes with root access in the root directory I find a folder "PDS" and it is empty. I'm going to push the fix now and will update my results.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium

2.3.5 Photon Flashed to Electrify 2.3.5 USCC (SBF) Problem with USB

All,
I have flashed 1 other Photon to the 2.3.5 Electrify SBF and followed this thread and had no problems.. ([How-To] Unlock ATT/T-Mobile on 2.3.5 OTA - xda-developers)
This one is a little different.
Problems:
1. Wifi Does not work(Error)
2. It does not detect any CDMA signals (I don't have an account anyways)
My steps:
1. Flash full 2.3.5 Electrify SBF
2. Pull battery and let phone reboot into 2.3.5 US Cellular Electrify Rom .(takers 5 mins)
3. Turn on USB debugging mode to gain root and install recovery..
This is where it craps out! Says it "cannot change mode" and when I reboot the phone to try again nothing happens when USB is plugged in.
1. RSD works.
2. Fastboot works
3. The phone/driver shows up in device manager correctly.
Can anyone suggest a way to get this bad boy on KDDI radio and PEETr_s' rom? I just wanna use GSM.
Thanks,.
NOTW:
I can access my SD card....
Can I install a Superuser APK from the SD card, to gain root? Which version should I use?
(I tried an older version and it did not gain root so I still can't load DroidX2 recovery.
Thanks.
Wireless is working now and I am able to get to the market...
Update:
Did this:
http://mobigees.info/root-motorola-photon-2-3-5/
I was able to get Root access Verified by Root Checker form store.
Tried to install X2 recovery.APK Says it installed then when I reboot-recovery it just reboots into US-Cellular rom. (NO BootStarp Recovery!)
I am pulling my hair out! Help!
Wireless ADB works... If that helps or gives anyone any ideas....
TWRP recovery installs and gives failed to boot 2. (I can flash stock recovery back via Fastboot)
This this just will NOT reboot into Droid X2 recovery. (yes I have multiple charge cables etc..)
Can I leverage fastboot here at all?

Hmmm... odd. Personally I'd probably start over and reflash from the beginning, then get root access, then load the recovery bootstrap and try again.
With that said, I'm using MOTODX2_Bootstrap_signed.apk with MD5 has as:

If yours is not that one, I can post it for download. At least I know this one works on my Photon 4G.
Yea I started over a few times...
Question;
If I RSD the USCC 2.3.5 .SBF should i still retain settings? aka WIFI networks etc? It is almost like it didn't take the first SBF correctly...
This is the 4th Photon I have done. Only 1 i have had prb with.
Can you post that recovery for me?

Well, depends on the SBF, I guess, but seems plenty possible if it does not reformat the data partition. If it really kept everything, I'd to a factory reset just to be sure no garbage was left behind.
Anyway -- you can download the bootstrap recovery I saved off here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pirh10pspz9m7re/MOTODX2_Bootstrap_signed.apk

[Q] HELP!!! Bricked my wife's phone! (Safestrap)

HELP!!!!
I'm a semi-amateur at rooting, and I'm worried I bricked my wife's Droid Razr MAXX. Here's what happened:
A year ago, I rooted her Razr and installed safestrap, which came with its TWRP interface. It had been running slow, so yesterday I said I'd put her on a new ROM. I installed CM 10.1.3 and everything seemed to go smoothly. After I'd finished the install of the ROM, using safestrap and TWRP, I reinstalled all her apps and everything.
Then I reinstalled SuperSU, VooDoo OTA Rootkeeper, and Safestrap v2.11. I ran safestrap and noticed it said it didn't have custom recovery installed, even though I knew it did. I don't know why, but I hit the button to install custom recovery.
Well, her phone was being screwy so she reset it at work. It then began to bootloop, and she turned it off (power + vol up + vol down). I turned it on, the safestrap splash screen showed, and I hit "menu" to boot into recovery.
Instead of TWRP, I am getting the green and black stock recovery screen. Uh oh, right? So I don't know what to do now. I wiped cache and dalvik to see if it'd reboot, but still, it bootloops.
Do I hit "Disable Safestrap (if stuck in recovery)"? I'm afraid to do anything at this point, out of fear of bricking her device. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Download RSD Lite 5.7 and download the 4.1.2 firmware here
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/cdma_spyder/list.php make sure you have a good charge on the phone, (it won't charge in fastboot) then open the firmware in RSDlite extract, put your phone in fastboot mode (Vol+ Vol- power select fastboot) plug the phone into your computer using your micro USB that came with the phone. Wait for files to extract then flash. Hope this helps. Any further questions you can send me an IM at [email protected]

Did you try to install SS from within CM? SS is intended to be installed and managed on stock. Did you install CM on a new slot in recovery?
Also, the latest SS version is 3.60.
For future reference, your actions should've been these:
1. Uninstall custom recovery using whatever SS you have installed on stock.
2. Uninstall SS and install newest SS version.
3. Install custom recovery using the newly installed SS.
4. Reboot into TWRP, create NEW slot and flash ROM.
Right now, I'd recommend what nickmoogo said above - start fresh, and do everything in order this time around, good luck!

That's exactly what I did. I have no idea why I did it either. Since I was on v2.11, clearly it's been a while since I touched her phone. So there's no way other than starting over from stock firmware, huh? If I could just get back to the TWRP interface I'd be much more comfortable, but I know SS's version of TWRP is unique. If starting fresh is the safest bet, that's what I'll do. Thanks guys!

Someone more knowledgeable than myself could maybe advise more in this case. Start fresh is what *I* would've done.
Flashing stock is not that hard of a procedure, and after installing some roms and finding the one that works the best for you, you won't be seeing much of stock anyways, I know I don't.

Links in the index, but you need to use correct version
Bootloader version must match, or at least it cannot be downgraded.
