Does anyone know what to freeze/delete/rename to get rid of the Visual Voice Mail app? I haven't found it in any de-bloat lists or posts.

i see. then have you tried an app called "systemapp remover"??
of course needs root to use and you can get it through android market or internet.
you can uninstall regular apps (the ones you installed) and
uninstall/disable system apps..
from the app, you can also make a backup for incase..
the backups goes to a folder called "systemappbackup" in int. sdcard
and i have this app installed and i can see the "vvm" app.
Vv is easy to uninstall with titanium backup if your rooted. What confuses people is the icon that is still left in the app drawer. That comes from the htc mms app

Thanks guys, that must be the case. The icon is in my app drawer but there's no "vvm" to be found.

Edit:
Thanks to jpitch2415 - he/she found a downloadable .zip file that will install via ESFile Manager. Installing the .apk through the file manager that comes stock on the phone will not work.
This is for the AT&T version of Visual Voicemail and for those that prefer it over Google Voice, etc.
The link to download the file is here & also make sure to install this file with ESFile Manager from the Android Marketplace - the file to install will be located in your tapatalk download folder assuming you downloaded the file directly from your phone.
The post where jpitch found the file / information is located here:

I've been wondering where's the visual voicemail it said it's suppose to have. I'm still irritated that this lags and not as smooth as I thought it would be.
I have visual voicemail...transcription...under at&t messages app. Don't know what I did to set it up, I'm new to AT&T. But my wife left a vmail and it was converted to text and can be played on my note.

I deleted all the AT&T feature apps. I have no need for them. I can deal without the visual voicemail. It was a nice feature when I had a Blackberry, but when I ditch it for an Android phone, didn't care for it.
Well you wondered where it was LOL...

Well, I installed the visual VM from here-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452330
When I open, it says call voicemail, enter pin, then hang up. Visual voicemail then tries to set up and I get a message telling me it is not turned on yet by att- It says please wait- setting up your account-then account verification has not been received yet. contact support to verify that VVM service is activated.
So I called ATT, and she said VVM is turned on, she reset it to on twice, but still, it won't set up thru the visual voice mail app. I haven't tried the ATT messaging to set it up. Just don't like it. Tech support will call in the am. I verified with her that with the LTE data plan VVM is included and she said yes.

Rather than listening to voicemails #1 through #9 to hear #10, you can just see them visually and listen to the ones you want to listen to
Some of the VVM services (like Google Voice) will actually transcribe the voicemail into text, and can email the voicemail to you.
Jpitch. You rock!! Thanks so much. Worked great

GV and android noob here. Do you guys set GV to have your cell number forwarded to it? Or do you use the GV number as your main? I'm not exactly sure how it works as I just started to play with it on iOS. Thanks.

You can do either, but I think most people do what I do and use it just for VM. During the setup, it will attempt to change the settings on your phone that it needs automatically. Basically, it just changes the forwarding numbers.
I've tested some apps from this skyrocket thread and some work for our phone while others don't.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573221
Work:
- Browser
- Calculator
- Calendar
- Clock
- Gallery
- MMS (just an app from the market but it looks good and can replace the stock MMS if you freeze it in titanium backup.) update: working perfect now after update.
- Movie Studio
Don't Work:
- Camera (the UI doesn't scale right).
- Email (massive force closes until apks are removed).

Thanks for this. I much prefer the stock MMS app. Additionally, I've tested the Calendar app on DAGr8's ICS alpha 2 and it works great and includes the stock widget.
Are you able to receive MMS messages with the stock MMS.apk frozen? I have not been able to. They just fail to download.

Yep. Wasn't sure what freezing in Titanium Backup was so I tried my own thing. All I did was install it from the Play Market. Then in Titanium Backup under "Backup/Restore" I long pressed on "[SMS/MMS PREFS] Messaging 4.0.3-144" (see first attached image) then clicked "Open system details...". In there I disabled Messaging (see second attached image).
Just tested MMS and was able to receive a picture text from my fiance (see third attached image for success!) Hopefully this helps.

Thanks, I use TiBu all the time.
Apparently, there's some bug where it won't receive MMS from iPhones. This would be a problem for me since my wife has an iPhone 4. It would also explain why I thought I want getting them at all since she was the one I kept asking to send me test messages.
No success with email.apk

Sorry about that. I'm new to TiBu so I figured I'd err on the side of caution and be thorough with what I did (plus I had no idea if that was how to freeze an app and there was no mention of freezing in TiBu itself). I meant no disrespect, friend

Now that there are so much options for push messages in the new facebook app and the messenger was integrated, I thought that the push messages would finally work. But they don't. Is there something I have to set up for it to work?
I mean what the hell is so difficult to make that feature work? I don't get any notifications for new messages, not to mention about any friend requests, likes etc.

Did you ever log into your fb account with a blackberry? Because that seems to activate push notifications somehow.
Check your phones settings. Settings > Accounts & Sync.
Check your push frequency within the Facebook Application. Unsure of where it is. I deleted the application all together. Too much of a battery drain. Good luck

Don't know... honestly I don't use SMS or mms, I use Google Voice exclusively for texting and I do not accept mms messages.
I've been using Go Sms Pro since it first ce to Android. It was hands-down the best sms replacement in my opinion. The last two updates however have changed my opinion about it. They started pushing Ads like those annoying scam apps. The last one in particular made me uninstall it. It now places Ads on the bottom of the screen. I'm done with them.
Is there any app besides Handcent, Chomp, Texter that is a good pop up sms replacement. There are many apps on the market aand I've personally come across some awesome apps that wasn't on the top of the list of best apps. So is anyone has some suggestions on apps they use or come across, I'd appreciate it.

you can simply use ad blocker
it is not in play store as it is blocked by google https://adblockplus.org/en/android-install
it is the same one you uses with Mozilla and llinux
