[Q] Keyboard dock and word processing? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

When ever I am typing i keep touching the trackpad and it ends up doing what I don't wish it to do. I know I can disable it, but is there a solution so I don't have to disable it? Most laptops, today have ways of preventing this. Is there an app or something? An app in development?

I think it has to do with the sensitivity of the trackpad. I don't know if there's a fix, but two workarounds including disabling while you type and permanently disabling and using a BT or USB mouse.

[Q] Disabling asking when receiving a file via Bluetooth

Hi!
I would like to ask whether it's possible to disable that every time a send a file to my Xperia mini it doesn't accept the file but asks me what to do.
The two devices are already paired, but it asks whethet it should accept the file or not every time, and there's no "Remember this" tick like on eg.: a Galaxy mini.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
gyeben
+1.... want tha feature too!
Noone has an idea how to do this?
I don't know if it's possible to change that, but I use an app "Bluetooth File Transfer" and it's pretty cool, it also has a widget, and you can accept automatically files without being asked or anything...
Thanks, I'll try it and post it if it solves my problem.
EDIT: yeah, it works, but only if the app is running, so if Android kills it off, it stops working.
So it's not an ultimate solution...
Dat aint good den....

You just have to exclude it, if you are using a task killer or something (which i dont really recommend, cause it sucks battery) And I dont really know why you want it to have it activated all time, its like you want to have bluetooth activated, it drains the battery, lol.
No, you misunderstood me. I don't want bluetooth and the app to be on and running all the time.
It's not a perfect solution you mentioned, because it needs an additional app to run in background to work. But the thing I request could have been implemented in for eg.: Samsung's Galaxy mini's software with NO additional, running-in-the-background-and-eating-battery apps.
So, noone has a solution?

[Q] Some random questions I have had

First off, how can I get rid of the little blue tab on the side with the icon shortcuts. I never use any of them. It would be great to be able to add my own app shortcuts to it but I could not figure out how. I am guessing that these are limited to only ones that are able to do the split screen feature.
Another question is, is there a program that can allow you to use your mouse and keyboard from your PC to control the phone, in a way that I have my phone next to the computer monitor, drag my mouse across over to the side, and the cursor appears on the android screen? Similar to Synergy (PC program)?
Is there a way to keep track of how much data you use over the 4g network? I don't want to go over my 2gigs a month.
I saw on a website that had "top 50 features of the Note2" that it has a feature where you can make the camera track your eyes, so that when you lay in bed, the screen does not rotate. Anyone know about this?
Also, I am pretty new to Android as this is my first smart phone ever. Is there a way to make google reader show pictures from blog artices, instead of having one app for slickdeals (iSlick) or another app for reading lifehacker articles? (Lifehacker unofficial)? I think I would use google reader if it showed pictures.
Has anyone started using Utter!? Seems like a great idea but I did not get very far with exploring it.
Sorry this is a big mess of random questions. Thank you for any input.
PS ~ I tried searching the android forum for how to control with pc mouse and keyboard but was unable to find something. I found AirDroid but i don't think that is what I am looking for.

Don't think this is possible the way you describe. They do offer a dock that allows you to plug in a USB keyboard/mouse to control the phone, but you can't have one mouse control both without unplugging it from one and plugging it in to the other.

You can't track JUST 4G usage, but you can track mobile data usage. Go in to Settings and then Data usage. You can even set an alert to warn you when you get close, and a limit that will disable mobile data after so much usage.

This is also in Settings, though under Display. What you're looking for is Smart Rotation. Smart Stay is also there and that keeps the screen on while you look at it.

Google Currents allows you to do news/feed reading. Not sure how it works, but it's listed as an option. Get it in the Play Store.
Awesome, thanks for the quick reply!
I saw a video on YouTube where the guy uses the computer keyboard on his note 2 but without a mouse. It is the guy who makes those daily note 2 videos.

[Q] 'Dock Mode' and Magnetic Charging

Does anyone else have the same issues with their Xperia Z Ultra? When I connect my phone to a magnetic charging cable, the app that I'm currently in refreshes. The phone thinks it is being docked and the screen auto rotates as well.

Hamdogg! You are EVERYWHERE and always helping people. Did you get your phone back from service? I love your videos btw. I've lurked too long here without posting.
And, I actually want the phone to do nothing when I connect it to the charger. If I'm browsing chrome while the phone is on charge, and I accidentally disconnect the cable, the entire page refreshes. If I'm playing a game or watching a movie, and I'm running low on charge and connect the magnetic cable, then the entire app refreshes and I lose all progress.
I have a feeling it is an Android thing, it treats 'Docking' as some kind of special event, and was wondering if someone could figure out a way to disable it, in their custom rom or through an Xposed module. This is a very specific request, I can imagine, because very few people will have phones with magnetic charging ports and even fewer will use it to charge their phone on a regular basis.

LOL... well, thats what XDA is all about... Thats what I think its about anyway.
Thanks for watching my videos. Gotta try and help if you can..
I'll look into it with my ROM and see what the device is doing when its docks. It may just be a simple titanium backup 'freeze' that would stop it.
Actually try that. freeze sony connect and then dock the ultra and see what happens.
got my phone back a week before xmass... 8 weeks away! man that was a killer!

I can't find a 'Sony Connect' in Titanium Backup.
Actually I'm not sure if it will be as simple as that. Because I experienced the same refreshing issue and auto rotate issue when I was using PA as well.
What you are describing is controlled by setting/display/daydream.

Even with Daydream turned off I'm experiencing the same refreshing and autorotate effect. And I can't seem to find any way to freeze daydream in titanium backup.

I hate this, guess it's give & take without having to remove case/un fasten usb seal everytime to charge! I've learned to be extremely careful, but one slip &....
& I believe I set it to do nothing the first time I connected the dock charger, & before I deleted the app it still refreshed & rotated

hi All,
I found this problem too at Kitkat .757. the screen is auto refresh when using magnetic charging. widget, icon, everything at homescreen is refresh. the nightmare is if I'm on playing game or everything on fullscreen mode, BOOM..! the screen suddenly freeze / un-response. can't back to home screen, using power+volUp instead to force restart. try to remove any recent installed app but no result, the problem still exist. from deduction (noob) the problem is the launcher, coz I didn't find this problem on APEX. I dunno.. :/
[FIXED!] 'Dock Mode' and Magnetic Charging
I found the solution to this issue.
If you are rooted, install Xposed and Mohammad Ag's Disable Desk Dock. Solved all my issues.
I think the dev of this module has an Xperia Z1 and has made some of the most amazing and useful modules for Xposed. I highly recommend checking them out and making a donation if you can!

1. Both "Xposed Framework" and the module in question are open source, so go ahead and check the code.
2. Mohammad is one of the most popular and trusted module developer around, so nothing here is "unknown".
Should you be aware of modules that you find randomly on the internet? Yes. Definitely. But you're at XDA now, and the great thing about that is that if something's not right, you'll hear it. There are thousands of people installing Xposed modules at all times, and i'll bet some of them have checked the code in the most popular modules.
thanks for this, was going nuts trying to find a way to disable that annoying thing

Mouse Toggle [ROOT] Nice!!

I first got this app for my FireTV and loved it. Developer now created an android tv version compatible with nexus player.
It allows you to use your stock remote as a mouse. Root is required on the nexus player.
No brainer for $0.99 as it eliminates the need for a separate bluetooth mouse or trackpad.
IMPORTANT FYI: The mouse function works WITHIN apps but not on the home screen!
Link and author's description:
Mouse Toggle [ROOT]
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fluxii.android.mousetoggleforandroidtv#hw-item-401
Add a mouse mode to the stock remote control or gamepad for Android TV.
NOTE: ROOT access is REQUIRED for this app to function.
Features:
Works just like a regular mouse that can click, long click, wheel up, wheel down, and drag.
Simple to toggle between regular remote and mouse modes.
Requirements:
1.) Android TV device(see below for supported devices).
2.) Stock / original remote control or game controller.
This actually work surprisingly well and includes an leanback icon, although I kind of wish we could hide things like this from the lean back launcher itself...

I agree with you on the leanback launcher icon. I know there needs to be a way to launch the app, but I hate scrolling through the list of apps when I know I won't be starting it up all the time.
Just tried the app. No go on Android TV 6.0. It kept on saying starting but sat there. Ended up asking for a refund. May try it again later when bugs are worked out.
Sounds cool but I will stick to my Logitech K400 Plus. I'm in and out of chrome on my nexus player anyways. However, this would have been helpful for me with HBO Go when it had to be sideloaded. Now it is available on the app store though so remote works great.

Which method did you use to root your Nexus Player? I have restored the device via the factory images(https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en#fugu) and have used both methods(post #1 & #2) in the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/wip-android-6-0-marshmellow-t3219344
I flashed the factory images before each attempt to root and tried each method a couple of times. The app worked great during all 4 tests so hopefully we can discover what is different with your setup.
Thank you
Bought this for my fire tv and it was probably the most useful app ive ever bought for the price. On NP Im really just playing around trying to find a good use for the device. Right now im using android M rom (no leanback UI) and stock remote is useless. DOES this app work with the custom roms?

Still waiting... I finally broke down and forked over the cash for droidmote. Its a good app but doesnt replace a physical remote imho. You want to be able to just feel for the buttons when your watching tv. A phone or tablet isnt the same. Good rom. Itd be great if the remote worked.

Shouldn't be any conflict. The double tap of the play / pause button does have to be pretty quick(~400ms).
I would recommend opening the app and then toggling the enable switch off and then on to see if that helps. Did the SuperSU app prompt you for permission initially?

I did. And just took your advice and toggled on/off. Also rebooted just to see. But its working for you on 6.0? Thats strange. I just get normal remote functionality. Tried it in netflix where its needed but no cursor appears. I do have wifi keyboard attached. Would that cause issues? Doubt it since i quit droidmote and turn off keyboard. Ill keep trouble shooting but never had any issues with your app on aftv (also with wifi keyboard so yea thats not a factor)

Other devices won't cause any conflicts so you are ok there. Just to confirm a couple of items: The Nexus Player is rooted? Was the app granted root access and is it listed in the SuperSU app?
If you want to email me that may be easier.
Thanks again for your patience.

I just heard from another user that had the same issue. Apparently the Nexus Player remote was somehow displayed as 'Spike' instead of 'Nexus Remote' in the Bluetooth paired device settings. They were able to resolve the issue by un-pairing the remote and pairing it again which correctly identified the remote as 'Nexus Remote'.
Any chance your remote is also named 'Spike'?

Disable Samsung Stickers

Does anyone know a way to disable or remove this stupid sticker button or app? I don't want it, don't use it, it's in my way, it's always getting accidentally triggered while I'm trying to type a message. I've been digging non stop for a way to just turn it off but Samsung apparently thinks everyone should have it no matter what. I've removed StickerProvider and StickerService using adb but it's still there. It's on every keyboard - Google, Samsung, SwiftKey and Swype. Driving me INSANE!
Yea I would love to know as well. You would think Samsung would learn it's lesson with these stupid things... Thank god they took them out of the phone app
1. Disable the entire toolbar from keyboard settings.
2. Using package disabler I can disable stickercenter, but the button still exist. Blank if clicked.
