I cant reactivate!!! - Motorola Droid X2

I put the miui rom on my phone and i did the factory reset so now i have to reactivate my phone. The problem is it wont reactivate when i dial *228 it says problem with activation. What could be the problem please help.

Try *22899

got the same thing

Unless the Verizon activation is down again. Was a few weeks ago. Just curious as to why u did a factory reset in miui?

Update...activation works scratch that.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. Called Verizon and they were doing updates. Next morning I called and they said it was back up. However I still could not activate then I restored to stock and activated no problem. Then restored my cm7 without activation and then it was fine.
Do a backup now and restore back to stock. Activate and then restore your miui.

Can I sbf? If so does anyone know any good tutorials

Did you do a nano back up of your stock rom? If so just restore that. If not do that first before making changes that way you can save yourself from a SBF.
if you do not know how to do a nano backup follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318083

Sadly no does that mean I am screwed

Follow this to sbf http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317707
Then after you activate root and download the tenfar recovery from stickies then make a nano backup first that way if you get in trouble you just restore back to stock.

No problem the sbf is not as bad as some might make it sound. You just have to make sure you download all the drivers and the SBF file and rsd lite. If you get stuck do be scared to ask. Also if you never did a SBC remember to get your phone to communicate with rsd lite you turn phone off and hold power and volume button up at same time and it will boot you to red mode then you are good.

Also if your phone bootloops after sbf do not panic it is normal sometimes coming from a custom rom. You can fix it easily by doing a restore factory reset in android recovery not bsr. If you do not know how to do it let us know and we will explain it.
So if you do bootloop after sbf rebooted your phone 100% then pull battery and put it back in. Now instead of hitting up volume and power this time use down volume and power at same time. You will see fastboot use volume down button to scroll down to android recovery. When you see android recovery then hit volume up this will bring you to android and big grey triangle then hit both volume up and down at same time. Now you will be in android recovery. Volume rocker to factory reset and hit the power button and use volume buttons to choose yes. After its done select reboot and you will load up just fine after that.

Let us know if it works for you. Or if you have any more questions. Remember cm7 is awesome unless you need HDMI. Eclipse is great as well and HDMI works. I have eclipse nano back up so if I need HDMI I can just restore.

Did all the stuff last night it all worked fine. I had the bootloop and it worked. Reactivated it with no problem. Once again thanks for all the help.

Perfect now you can try a rom if you like it then back it up. I have had up to 4 different Roms backed up so you can restore which ever you like. Glad it helped! Just make sure you stick with the same kernal like the 2.3.4. If you ever go to 2.3.5 you will have to sbf back to 2.3.4 to get the kernal right.

If you could put [solved] in your title next to your problem and this might help someone else with the same issue.

[Q] Need some help. Yes i'm a noob. But i've been doing homework

Atrix 2.3.4 - 4.5.91
First off, I've done like 10 hours of researching today so please bare with me.
I thought I had unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone in the past. I'm able to tether so that was a sign I did it.
Today I attempted to install romracer cwm based recovery with rom manager. When i tried to install Rom from the sd. it restarted and said "failed to boot 2" after doing some research it said it was possible my bootloader was not unlocked. Now I think i did the right steps back when.
How do I find out for sure if my boot loader is unlocked.
I'm doing all this because Im attempting to get my phone back to stock as can be. I want to get it back to warranty for the following reasons
1) my video play back is all messed up on my recorder. (will a sbf fix this)?
2) when i insert a external sd card to my atrix, my screen sometimes turns black when it wants to).
So this is where i'm stuck. I read the newbie threads. Thanks for all the info. But man this "failed to boot 2" scared me. Luckily it didn't brick my phone. Took out battery and it started back up.
Help please
If your unlocked it will say unlocked in red letters at top of screen when turned on. If you aren't unlocked its possible you have just rooted your phone I think not positive that a factory reset would unroot your phone. Just go into recovery hold volume down when turning it on cycle down with volume down and choose with volume up in recovery both volume rockers are used to navigate and power is choose.

So i did a factory reset. I guess there was more steps i need to take when I saw the android logo and "!". is my phone unrooted thanks for anyone who can help. As mentioned before. I don't think my phone was ever unlocked because I didn't see it when I started up my phone.

Use pudding thread to unlock your bootloader, install Rom Racers CWM via fastboot after you are unlocked. If you want to make sure you are rooted after that, use the Moto root, stuck at top of the General section.

[Q] HELP - Can't get into Bootstrap!

long story short ......with the new beats audio news out i flashed that and got stuck at the M logo on boot.
I pulled the battery plugged in and booted but still the same, stuck at M logo. Why is my bootstrap not working? i used it earlier today.
I also tried getting into the stock android recovery but then it just gets stuck at the android guy next to the triangle with the ! in the middle.
How do i get back into bootstrap so i can flash my nandroid backup! Thanks guys!
p.s. i have tried it numerous times hoping it would eventually work but nothing.

Did you flash the zrecovery before you rebooted?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426062
Might save you next time
Also if you wiped data your bootstrap will be gone.
not sure what zrecovery is?
i have the bootstrap recovery installed and have been using that for months without a hitch, just after i flashed the beats audio zip this morning (in bootstrap), i can't get it to even boot. im stuck at the M logo. and if i pull the battery and plug in, it won't even start up to bootstrap. I just want to flash my nandroid backup
i didn't wipe data, just flashed the zip. chose reboot in Bootstrap like normal and bam, stuck at M logo.....any way to force back into bootstrap? I was literally just in bootstrap 1 hr ago so i know its there....just not loading
Not that I aware of besides doing a sbf rooting again and installing bootstrap and then you can restore your nano back up.
Be sure to pull the battery for 30 sec put back and then plug in to get cwr to boot. Or Then try to access stock recov pwr on & rocker down to wipe data.
Thanks for the help!
As far as I know, the only way to get into bootstrap is through the bootstrap app itself. Which you need to be able to get into your phone to do. I do think you can get into it by rebooting while plugged in but maybe this doesnt work if you did something to mess up the startup. As was mentioned already, your only choice most likely is to SBF, root and install bootstrap again and then restore your backup.
I beg to differ. As long as charge mode was never put back to normal which is also a mistake.

sending out an SBF, my God there are great tutorials here in General and Android Dev sections... Cwr is not part of DX2 BSR is, but you wiped and lost that. To enter stock Android Recovery you just hit power button volume down...but that won't help you now...so just SBF and root then restore your backed up material through Titanium backup.... Install BSR and NANDroid back...you did make NANDroid backups I assume, if not I suggest starting to. Good luck

Thats what I thought. But the OP cant get that to work from what I get. Is that method still supposed to work if you cant even boot the phone?
As long as you do not wipe data BSR should be installed. If you pull battery and put it back in before you even try to boot plug it in to wall charger. This will take you straight to BSR before you ever try to boot. Then you can get back to your nano back up.

Stock recovery wont allow you to flash stuff to the phone or backup your ROM or stuff like that. Thats why we have a special one to do those things.
Stock is good for flashing an ota (no need to rename just make it start w/ a number so it will be first in a mess of zips at the root of your external sd)
And wiping data.

[Q] Cannot Restore to Stock 2.3.6

Dear All,
I am from Hong Kong, and got my asian Razr Maxx for almost 2 weeks now, I have found that I am unable to go back to stock by using motorola's stock factory reset option. Every time I first boot after I "restored" with my device, ADW Launcher EX will be its stock launcher ( i have installed it previously), and that my black multi-touch keyboard is gone. Also, my root would remain.
It just won't go back to how i unwrap it from the plastic wrappings. I tried flashing the asian stock rom though cwm, however it will say "installation aborted" when i tried installing the rom zip from sd card.
I really want to go back to stock, anyone have any idea how I should fix this?

glad i found this thread, i am in deep doodie with my phone. i just got my phone yesterday and had it rooted within the first hour of posession.
its the droid razr maxx, ut updated soon as i got home with it to 6.12.181.XT912, then rooted it on that version using the method from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342567.
installed safestrap recovery
performed system backup before doing anything else
flashed eclipse
later realised that my battery wouldnt charge, so i tried to restore the backup of the stock rom........ and thats when everything went to hell!
tried to restore with safestrap in safe mode, no dice
took it out of safe mode, started getting restoration errors, tried to put it back into safemode, and it wont go back into safe mode,
now phone boots and stays stuck at moto logo dualcore technology screen
going to use rsd lite, but dont know what file to download for it because none of the ones provided in the stock rom section look even remotely close to what i need,
does anyone know where i can find and download 6.12.181.XT912.Verizon.en.US
or anything i can do to fix my phone? i cant even turn the damn thing off, when i get it to shut off, it just reboots itself all over again.

[Q] Need Help with Superuser

Okay, so I was going to install the new cm9 alpha rom that was released. But every time I try to BSR; superuser denied the permission. Even though I have it set to allow it.
But what I though was weird was that if I powered my phone off. Then plugged it into a charger, that the BSR screen appeared. So I made a nandroid recovery of my 2.3.5 OS and then tried to flash cm9. But then it started to give me errors. So I then was gonna just recover the nandroid backup since I factory reset and clear cache. but then it froze trying to recover.
Then I though that I should just power back on my phone then try it again. So I did that and now the BSR screen won't appear it just shows the motorola logo and stays there. HELP!!
I think we will need clarification of your abbreviations before we can help you. Do you mean, SBF or BSR. SBF means you use RSDLite to re-flash your phone to a stock state, and BSR is your Boot Strap Recovery. Unless I'm missing something.

BSR sorry...
Have you tried holding down the volume button when you power up, plugged into the wall? That should get you into Android Recovery. I believe you may see a lil Droid with a triangle. Then press both volume up and down at the same time. Your menu should appear.
The first problem I saw when reading the OP was that you need to be on 2.3.4 to flash CM9.

Yeah i sbf back to 2.3.4 and had to re-root my phone and start all over. So everything is working fine. I think the problem was that I updated to 2.3.5 and it unrooted me but still had the superuser.apk installed but not let me have su permission. eather way I fixed it.

Bootlooping on Eclipse

I am posting this here since I have under 10 posts and cannot post in the dev section.
I have a Droid X2 that is rooted and flashed to Eclipse 2.2.1
I have a nandroid backup on my SD card, but cannot get into a screen to restore it.
I have had it flashed and working for a few days now. The phone turned off in my pocket, and when I turned it back on, it loads up to the Eclipse animation but never goes any further.
I have searched Google and cannot find an exact scenario. I have found people who fixed by going back to stock SBF, but this did not work for me.
I have tried both 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 and am using RSD Lite 5.4.4.
The phone will reboot after it "finishes" and get stuck in the Eclipse animation again.
I have done a data/cache wipe through Android Recovery with no result. I have cleared it more than once just to be sure.
Wow, sounds like you tried about everything and I'm shocked nothing has worked. I would try the 2.3.5 ota sbf (in development section) but that may not work either.... If it were me I would at least try it. I would also try re downloading the rsd lite program. Are you unzipping before flashing the sbf file?

Not for nothing, but keeping your phone in your pocket in summer heat could have possibly damaged some internal hardware.
Just to keep this simple, I would let the phone sit, perform an sbf to 2.3.4 following any of the guides here. Also try tee downloading the sbf file. When you power off your device...plug it in...then hold volume down and power button what happens?? It should say Fast boot on the to of the screen of your phone....I'm reading as I'm typing and thinking something else is wrong, I would not want to steer you wrong, but sbf works...always, like more then a thousand times....so it may be hardware that is the issue.
Sometimes when SD cards are corrupt they cause issues also, but that you would see in cwr...
Do you have insurance?
Inserted 20¢ for the first three minutes
Maybe a different sbf method could work? You could try the ez sbf http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x2-hacks/41697-tool-ezsbf-dx2.html
Sent from my MB870 using Tapatalk 2
I am unzipping the sbf file. I have had previous experience with RSDLite since the the days of the Razr flip phone.
I don't think it could be a corrupt download, because the SBF does unzip. Not to mention the fact that I've tried 2.3.3 AND 2.3.4... to completely different files.
In my pocket in the summer heat doesn't really apply when I'm inside all day. I did not have my otterbox on the phone when this happened.
I can hold the buttons and get into the menu for RSD/fastboot/recover.
The android recovery will clear the data and cache, but it just gets stuck in the boot animation and doesn't progress. I let it sit trying to load for over an hour with no luck.
I have also tried booting without an SD card.
There is no insurance on the phone. I bought it off Craigslist for $100 and I use it on Cricket.
This is the first time I've had a problem with the phone, and it's such a weird problem, I had to sign up and get input.
I will try to SBF again now that I have had the phone off for a few hours.
EDIT: Did not fix. Even SBF to 2.3.5 still keeps the eclipse boot animation.

I tried running the ezSBF through USB boot, it went through the whole process (CQ60 and CQ65 took a long time). When the phone boots up, it still shows the eclipse animation and just loops it.
I held down power and vol-down, I can still get into the Android Recovery to wipe data and cache... but it doesn't help.
Did you ever get anything to work? I wonder if you could push something using adb? I am not familiar enough with it to help and not sure it would help. I feel like there has to be a solution to this but don't know what it could be? Bump.....
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
You keep saying that after an SBF, you get the eclipse animation. When you SBF you should get the droid animation since it is putting it back to stock. If you are still getting the Eclipse animation then it didnt work right and didnt SBF. Did the SBF actually say it completed successfully?
There enlies the problem. It will go through every stage and go to reboot and get stuck in the eclipse boot animation. It will tell me to manually power up my phone, and when I do, it will say finished.
SBF is supposed to overwrite everything, but it just doesn't. I have tried it using the RSDLite app and the Linux boot.
I have never read about anyone else having this problem, and I have been looking for a solution since Tuesday afternoon.
I am not familiar with ADB, but I will read into it.
I use linux all the time never used rsd of any kind on it I have the files you will need on linux if you need them just let me know.

I just read your post again thought you said that you were using rsd in linux. My bad. Hopefully you get everything figured out. I would delete and redownload everything including rsdlite and try again. I've flashed at least a hundred sbfs in linux and never had a problem yet
I run Windows 7. I used the Linux DroidX2 boot disk. It went through all the stages, but still no dice. I tried it twice.
Im sad for you. Other than redownloading all your files and trying again I don't know what other options there are for you. Maybe you could find a way to flash something using fastboot?

try a different usb cable, even if it works for other devices, it could be the problem

I would assume the original Motorola eco cable would be the one that works.
I have another data cable that I can use, I just haven't tried it.
There is not a whole lot of information out there on how fastboot works. It's always RSD support and SBF flashing.

Yeah I did some digging couldn't find a fastboot file for dx2. But you can wipe data and cache with it. I would suggest the same try different computer, cable, and files. Probably your only hope. Have you sbfed the phone successfully before?

I'm wondering if more than just turning off happened in the pocket? Too bad we'll never find out.
My DX2 was rooted and running eclipse. I've SBFed it to do that. Before that, I was running stock 2.3.5 with all the edits to put it on Cricket instead of Verizon.
I can't figure out what happened inside my pocket. I was using it one minute, put it in my pocket and went outside for a smoke, took it back out and it was turned off.
I don't get any boot error messages. It just won't erase Eclipse when it SBFs.
I can still hold power + volume down and scroll through all the menus.
I hooked it up to my laptop and it sees the ADB.
Unfortunately, the go-to is always SBF and nobody says anything about flashboot.
Try a different computer yet? What happens when you pull the battery and plug into the wall?

I only have one computer.
And what do you mean, pull the battery and plug it in the wall? Leave the battery out and plug it in?
