I'm looking for something similar to this, in Google Sky View form: http://www.n2yo.com/?s=25544
The ISS is flying within excellent view of home in about 14 hours, and I just want to know what direction and angle to be looking in for a good view, plus it's something fun to have...
Suggestions?
Try Satellite AR, Space Junk lite or Heavens Above from Market.
ISS Lookout or ISS Detector is also a guess.
Haven't tested them but a quick Google search pointed me to a german forum where a guy recommended the three first named apps.
Hope you see the ISS!

Good job of suppling the requested information.
You can use weather.com to get the info. Here is yours: USMA0502

I know, right?
Why bother to supply the information when weather watcher is better software, uses up less resources, is free, and doesn't require you to know any codes to begin with?
I figured I was doing him a favor hehe
Can weather watcher be used like spb in Ultimate launcher?

a while back i wrote a script that you can use with spb weather. It will pull information from environment canada website. There is another script, with that you can pull information from theweathernetwork.com website. You can find those on spb forums.
Weather Watcher is not a today screen plugin and doesn't have support for that, so if you want it displayed on the today screen then you're out of luck that way. But I will tell you, I've used both of them, and I highly recommend ww over spb as I don't need my weather taking up room on my today screen. Have you already purchased spb or using the trial still?
Howto - your zip from weather.com

*you can find the info here --> http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewto...&start=0&sid=68ff6a30254c9d517b2d25a30fcc9d87
There is a weather.com template as a file download half-way down the page
*Alt support (just in case) http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/weather/support/support_article388.html
*Also, how to get your weather.com city code (I think someone already gave it to youbut here)
"You have to use the weather.com city code... not the zip code. Go to weather.com and search for your city/state without the zip code. Then look in the address bar for the code. It will start with US** then 4 digits where the ** represents the 2 letter abbreviation for your state."

No I havnt bought it yet (seems to work forever for me anyway wink). after using it for a few days i can see that i dot really need it on my today scree...but i seem to have a memory leek somewhere...not using the phone for 6 hours after a soft reset i go from 22 ram to 16
spb site
SPG+B has a forum where you can find custom templates and data for adding cities
http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=28
I use spb weather as a tab on my spb plus as it is nice on the today screen.
I use weather watcher for the detailed data, but it is slower as it must be loaded. Both have a valid use.

Just wondered why you think someone else would do the leg work for you to find a compass APK, when they can be downloaded from the market? Here's a hint - use Google!
Regards,
Dave
As said, use market to get a compass app. Search for 'Analog Compass' for example (or just 'compass' for all).
That's the one I'm using and think is quite nice.

i like "marine compass", shows off the combination of g-sensors and compass
GPS Status also shows the compass.
gackaass, if you don't have the Android market in your country, have a look at slideme.org and andappstore.com. You can also search the Android market on cyrket.com or androlib.com and then try to find an apk from the results there.
tanx for u all
but i forgot to say i can not connect to internet by phone !(ad-hoc problem you know) my carrier is rubbish in internet service as well....
so no market access !
please upload any best u know ! i will pay for it :d

androlib and cyrket (once it works again) are "only" frontends to the market. You could try and use a Google search for the program names that you can find there.
Or use the Website link and see whether the authors have an apk on their site.
http://code.google.com/p/android-ac/ and http://code.google.com/p/eyes-free/ showed up on the first three pages of results for "compass".
Or use slideme (once it's working again) and andappstore. Andappstore has a direct link to a "GPS status" apk.
Yes, that's not very comfortable, and it's a pity that Android cannot use Ad-hoc mode without rooting and some additional work.
You could vote for http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=82 by logging in and clicking on the little star.
Maybe it's easier to convince your PC to act like an Access Point, e.g. with http://connectify.me/ or something like http://www.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/2...ain-USB-Adapter-Versatile-Station-AP-Mode.htm.
tank u for ur attention !
i am new in android! and i dont no more about rooting!
would u plz tell me more about rooting!
and what is the advantage of rooting ! what can i do after rooting! does it have risk?
tanx
Sorry, I don't know much about rooting, you have to google that on your own (or look around here in this forum, there are even stickies for it). There is a risk of bricking the phone and also you might lose the warranty. If you don't feel confident to do it on your own and understand the risks, don't do it.
One point I forgot in my previous reply: your (our) Hero was rather expensive, maybe it wouldn't hurt to buy an inexpensive WiFi router or access point. It's the easiest way to solve this problem. At the moment you only want a compass app, but there are a lot more apps that you might find useful in the future, and I wouldn't want to hunt them down one by one like you do at the moment.
Saw this awesome app on the android, is there anything like it on windows mobile that works on the HD2?, tried astronavigator 2.02, but it gets stuck trying to connect to the GPS "location"
Bump?....
Bump attempt 2
would like to know also
You mean the application that uses gps and compass for showing the sky objects that you are looking to, right? The so called "augmented reality" one? I would really love to see something like that on my HD2, but unfortunately I have not heard of anything like that for WM yet.
this would be great
Using a simple google search I found this:
http://vitotechnology.com/astronavigator.html
Please do try and search first.
edit: Mmm.. just gave it a test run. The application stalls when you try to use your location. Other then that it does work.
I was using Astronavigator on my Omnia but, as said by snipey, it doesn't work anymore for location. and no update is forecast by Vito.
Is there another software for astronomic view?
Pretty sur there is a cab file fix for this on here somewhere
There is another software similar to Google Sky, Stella Theatre Pocket. Even though the site is in Japanese, the software is in English, and works perfectly on the HD2. It will even set your current position via GPS.

Sweet! Thanks dude
How do you get the licence? I can't get past the payment screen.
Figured it out... DUH
Check this out
Leo's Void is a great freeware planetarium - a bit old, but still looks impressive and operates (mostly) well on the HD2.
It's at http://www.leobueno.net/
The problem with astronavigator comes with the resolution, you need wgafix for the location work.
reg workaround for position freeze
if you know your latitute and altitude, then you can simply edit your registry...
navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VITO\AstroNavigator" and change the values to your position. they should be "0"
you can check, if your at the right spot, if you switch "night_mode" from "0" to "1" or vice versa if you have it currently enabled.
when you start astro navigator then, you should see the changes regarding night mode, and if you take a closer look, then you should see, that the grid in the map looks different than before
Does it automatically rotate like the Google Sky Map one does? Do any of them?

Same here. It is very good.
I bought this phone on ebay a while back and i'm just wondering can anybody give me some information about the phone e.g. Best GPS program , best audio player etc .
This is my first time having a Windows Mobile phone and also my first time even having a smart phone ..
As mobile browser I got Opera mini, works great. Think you can get it from m.opera.com.
For movies use CorePlayer. Best mediaplayer IMO.
I got NoData for when I'm traveling, and don't wanna end up with a huge bill.
SMSBubbles is a tiny bit buggy but it works. It allows a popup with the incomming text to appear on your screen, so you can read what the text says without having to navigate.
McGuider: great navigation; make sure you get the smartphone version
If you intend to use your own headphones to listen to music; use this here. There's a coupon; SH5OFF which will give you 5% off everything. Free shipping worldwide.
For the software I suggest you use the search button to get the most recent versions.
Good luck
thanks great reply !
I checked out McGuider earlier but didnt see this phone in the list of compatible devices ?
you just try to go to ---> http://www.freewareppc.com/download/utilities/cabinstl.shtml there you can find many free applications that are compatible for your device
Can anyone tell me does Google Maps have a sat nav feature or is it just like basic maps?
I think it is just basic maps...to be honest im too lazy to check it now...
Btw try sygic mobile 10...best navigation software for this phone imo...also includes camera alert

Hi! Is there any way to sort search results on the Google market e.g. after downloads or views or rating? Thanks.
Ad
Sent from my NexusHD2 using xda app-developers app
Not currently possible in the app, but it should be possible on the website.
Yeah on the website it works but whyyyy is Google not integrating it in the app.
Isn't there the possibility to integrate this function in a mod somehow?
Thx

Even on the website, the only options are by Popularity and by Relevance.
I wish i could sort by Rating, by Developer, alphabetically...
google seems to make it on purpose not to let you sort the results... MADAFAKAZ!! :x

It can barely find information about anyone asking about sorting results from play store. xda developers must be only ones who think outside the box.
How we can make it sort every search results as i want.
Like downloads, stars e.t.c.?
Sorting seems to have been removed from the website as well. Damn it Google, why must you turn everything to ****.
I've just had to reinstall after a full reset, and this has to be one of the worst aspects of the play store. I wish I understood programming, but is there anyone can make an app to fix this lack of sortability and lack of filtering?
I'm with @Newtoys, why does google always go one step to far and mess up perfectly good things?
Agreed: Google makes it Harder, not Easier!
Searching for a small business collaboration app
Only returns results with app that have the word "collaboration" in the title?
If I was a developer, I would be reluctant to ever get involved,
how are potential customers supposed to find your App if you don't give it a name that sound too much alike all the other apps in the same category.
And Furthermore: I don't care about the icon, I want to be able to scan an encapsulation of the capacity of the app... Who cares what color the button is going to be on my screen !!!
If Google is the "Ultimate Search Engine" why then can't I use a Google search to go through the Play Store Apps..?
NO !!! Instead it returns a listing of Other Web Sites and the Apps that they recommend ?
I am with you guys on this. Been wondering this for years now. I also found it weird that when I try and Google search this issue, this thread is the only one relevant to our problem. I'd be willing DL a modified play store app even. The worst is when I want to see about any new/updated apex themes and I have to browse a library of themes I've seen before.

lol, exact same f##@ up when im going thru Layers themes !! Usually we need the latest updated themes since they work as expected with updated AOSP Roms...but stupid google wont let me sort a list of apps by the 'last updated' date !!
Any 3rd party apps that browse the entire play store app catalogue and have the ability to sort them by their last updated date ?
same here... i want to sort apps by it size since the day start using play store but never see such feature or any proper useful sorting method in play store.. and when google for sprting apps, i end up right here... hope some1 has the solution for this... seriously...
