I dont know about network regulation. But yes, you can cut your sim into micro-sim with special tool.. It's work for me after I cut my sim.

Yes, cutting a mini SIM down to micro SIM size works fine. You can get specialised cutters if you don't want to do it yourself.

Hi, look at this Link. It works fine
xxx.micro-sim.de/selbst-basteln

When I bought my phone, the woman on the store didn't had micro sim (would take weeks to arrive), so she said she could cut one of the regulars into a micro sim.
Well, she done a very bad cutting. When she inserted it on the Razr, it got stuck, it wouldn't get out, nor the razr recognize it.
I got my phone replaced anyways on that time.
After like 15 minutes all the vendors on the store trying to unstuck it, a guy finally used a needle to pinch it and he could take it out.
I was then looking at the regular SIM stock from that store, I noticed that some are a bit more thick than others and that plus the bad cutting didn't work well with the Razr slot.
I preferred to use my iphone's microSIM on the Razr, and transfer the lines, and use the cut down sim on the iphone, because its slot is more difficult to stuck.
Well, anyway, just beware that it you miss cut it, it can get stuck.
And if it does, you can get a needle, and pinch it to remove it.
Good luck!

thanks guys for ur help

Oh note that I've cut identically two simcards, one of them didn't work (was working in my old SGS2) after the cut. Into the SGS2 was still working even after the cut (hand positioning into the SIM slot, yay!).
So actually it isn't 100% sure that your SIM will work in the RAZR after the cut.
Anyway, for the other SIM that didn't work, I went into my operator's store and they've replaced it with a MicroSIM that I'm actually using in my RAZR.

Wouldn't be simpler to go to your provider and ask them to replace the sim? They can code your existing account to the new sim....

Mine was cut by my phone shop.. It works fine but o would not recommend it on a permanent basis.
From time to time I will get error messages sayingsomething like Sim card error.. After a while, less than a minute
It will b able to read just fine..
At first I don't bother with it, then came the time where the problem kicks in during a phone call.. The call was dropped.
so I would recommend everyone to get the micro Sim instead..
I will too, this weekend.. This drop calls is getting annoying.

[Q] Which sim card does your rezound have?

interesting discovery for myself a little bit ago and i cannot find anything on google relating to the rezound being capable of using either sim
i dont have pics, but i've only seen rezounds with the larger white sim
and now i'm finding out that its capable of using the micro sim (thanks swilbert80 for bringin a few more hours of my life into sim research, inadvertently of course) lol
first, i wonder if there is a performance gain using a micro sim?
seems like it is generation 2 sorta, for all i know they work just the same - but i find it very interesting that its never been discussed (or at least i cant find)
ive swapped my sim out once as advised by technical support to resolve poor 4g reception - nothing was said to or mentioned of trying a micro sim,
anyways, any and all insight appreciated, curious to know what others have as a percentage...
thank you for lookin

The only difference between a regular SIM and a MicroSIM card is the physical size different, the actual circuit and contact part of the SIM and MicroSIM card is identical.
As for resolve poor 4G reception due to SIM card? Man tech support say the darnest things. It has NOTHING to do with 4G reception. It's nothing but an excuse to keep you in the loop while they won't admit it could be either the phone or their network's problem.
Going back to the topic. I have the first generation SIM card from Verzion as it came with my good old Thunderbolt.
I've been wondering though, when the next gen iPhone which supports LTE is released, if a simple SIM swap would complete the process of activation like between 4G devices now is going to be applicable or not...

Actually sims can go bad, it's a computer chip and they can interfere with a lot of things on the phone, it's main purpose is for authenticating and utilizing the radio in the phone, so bad sim card = tons of connection issues.
I experienced it with an old AT&T sim which I used to switch between phones a lot. though micro-sim vs regualar sim is irrelevent, they are the same thing just cut different.
Just getting a new sim, either kind should fix the issue if you have a bad sim.
A simple sim swap will do the basic activation of the lte iphone when it comes out just like swapping androids.
The only exception is that iphones interface with voicemail and sometimes data differently (at least as of IOS 3.0, it may have changed.) so a call in to verizon may be required to switch the plan your on. I've dealt with this when switching between iphone, blackberry and android on my AT&T sim. That really depends on how the carrier sets up the plans

I guess they don't make SIM cards like they used to be.
My mom's SIM card, which she was given back in 1995... yes, 1995, is still kicking and works just fine even after it's being clipped for MicroSIM across 20+ phones she had in the years.
bummer, i was hoping for someone to say that the micro was gonna be the bees knees... ( yall coulda lied, i believe in placebo's)
lmao
owell, guess i'll suffer with my oversized one lol
its easy to remove and replace i guess

I almost fell out of my chair when I read about the sim card doing bad reception. Even if one is going bad. Most chances are its is either going to work or it isn't. Not kinda work. A fellow Rezound owning friend and I was talking about this subject yesterday. I don't think cdma carriers have the whole sim card technology ironed out yet. I had ATT for many years and I never heard the stories of people needing to get sim cards swapped out because of something not working or because they changed phones like I have since I been with Verizon. Seems like just about every person who switches phones has to get a new sim card.

[Q] Droid Razr not able to identify any SIM cards

Hello Friends,
My Razr is not able to detect SIM Cards. I have tried more than 3 operators microSIM but it does not show any network. If I do a manual scan, it gives me a list of operators, but selecting the same does not work. It is stock running on 2.3.6. Any solution to this?
Thanks,
Anish
I have the same problem with the RAZR in India and I am using an Idea SIM. Any solution?
Maybe the SIM module is spoilt. Try taking it to a service center.
Hello!
I had the same issue. Razr refused to read the Idea SIM, tried many SIMs & found that plastic card of the Idea SIM is slightly less thicker than others. After bending the SIM little, it worked. See the image for better illustration:
Are you sure, also the card works on other devices. But I will still try getting a new one.
Yes, my Idea SIM worked in all other devices except Razr before applying the trick.
Razr has space limitation due to which phone's SIM connectors are not so flexible than other devices. A little less thickness preventing the phone to connect & read the SIM data. Also, like other devices, it lacks the SIM holder or clip.

[XPU] Sim slot problem :(

One of my friend bought a xperia U, which is from T-Mobile Deutsch (Germany [IDK]), I tried to put the sim as it on the guide + but It's just going deeper, without locking When I try other side It click or locks down (I can hear the sound) ! and I've tried 4 side of the sim 2 sides clicks another 2 side just get deeper ! then I have to use a pin to get the sim out in addition to that 4 side says no SIM card in the slot What could be the problem ???
Well sounds like your simcard got stuck in the lot.
Go to a T-mobile store and they can help you with getting it out and also making a new sim card. Because if you turned it around and stock it in the wrong way you might have scratched the copper surface of the simcard and cause problems in the future.

[Q] No Sim Card Error

Oddly enough, my sim tray will only work with only one sim. And unfortunately, it is a broadband sim. Where I can't text and call. When it comes to regular sims, it would do say 'no SIM card.' Does anybody know what to do? Thanks
I am having the same kind of issue as well. I have a att i717 on stock 4.1.2 no root and sim carrier unlocked. Actually I have 2 EXACTLY the same, the one I've been using for 6 months with a cricket sim card have had no issues. With this 2nd i717 that I got yesterday, its now sim unlocked not rooted on 4.1.2, just like mine, my cricket sim works in it just fine but my sons metro pcs sim doesn't. My goal is for my son to have the exact same phone as me but with his metro pcs sim. Any help please? My son goes back to his moms tomorrow night and was really hoping he can go back with his big o phone working with his metro pcs sim.
Now I'm soo broke I can't even pay attention!
[SOLVED]
Everyone, after months of waiting and keeping it in stock condition, my sim is now working. After playing with sim tray, I solved it. Just keep the metal frames up, all the metal frames.

Motorola DROID RAZR XT912 sim card slot broken.

I have a Motorola DROID RAZR XT912 which I was using with a sim card adapter but when I tried to remove it the sim adapter got stuck so I forced it out and think that something in that slot got bent now I can't insert a sim card in the slot. So what I want to know is that is there a way to repair the sim card slot? also if any one was in a similar situation like this one then please let me know if you were able to get it fixed. Thanks to everyone in advance.
I have this situation, and I am on PagePlus cellular, so it doesn't require me to have a SIM card, but I don't get 4G (I am on 3G right now), and it limits me from using Android Lollipop, as that requires you to have a SIM card to make calls/texts and use data. I don't know how to fix it though...

Every time I put in a sim card, it doesn't click in. I have tried with a T-Mobile SIM card that I cut, and that works (It clicks in place), but I don't want to risk messing it up, so I won't buy a full Verizon SIM card for the time being (I also don't want to mess up cutting it and cut it too large)

Well, I do have a backup phone (HTC Droid Incredible), but it is really slow and the voice quality sucks, so I am stuck with this for now.
