Hey guys, I've done some modding on my prime to bump up the UI visuals a little
I think it really suits the clean look!
You can see it in action here in the first half of this video!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBTqYvJVHCA
How is this the clean look? Lol you got icons all over the place top n bottom of screen filled up. Looks cool but too much like a win mo clone. I'm not a fan of big lettering detailing what screen you on or whatever. This just looks like different launcher or something as I've seen others in the "Post your homescreens" thread in themes n app section just like yours. Why so many icons in top and bottom bar at once?
I like it.

Lol yea, I guess you have to ignore those icons at the very top, they're from adw launcher and I can't seem to shake them well MAYBE clean isn't the right word, but everyone that I show it to LOVES it!
PS the shots with more than one picture are transition screens (kind of like switching cards)

Overall it looks good. A different look for sure. So you put this together yourself taking pieces out of adw launcher? Or is this just the launcher itself with one of the many different themes it has?

How does mulitilive behave on your prime? I looked at it in marketplace and its getting slammed because it doesn't support ICS yet. Alot of users with ICS experiencing issues with it. Ill try it out once it updates to truly support ICS. Does it drain the battery from constantly switching backgrounds or can you make them static and just have one pic for each homeacreen?

I just watched it after seeing this post. Gave it a thumbs up. Dang, that does look really cool theway you set it up. Moves very fast also. I have adw ex launcher also. Got it a while back on the 10 cent app sale. Haven't really used it on my prime yet. I might try setting something up with it now after seeing that video.
Are scrollable widgets already working with adw.ex on ICS? Ditched it because of lack of scrollable widgets (but see it hasn't been updated since december 7th so guess not).

That's a good point it's hit and miss. Colorize widgets DO scroll but Gmail does not. So i have no idea why that is. Hopefully a fix comes soon.

Cheers for the response. Mail, agenda, bookmarks and those kinds of things weren't working for me and appearantly I am a fan of scrollable widgets hehe. Guess I'll stay away from it for now.
Must say I'm pretty satisfied with the stock launcher atm as well though!
This is a seriously biased video. Just look at the pinch-zoom part of the video (around 2 minute mark) and you'll see that Android lags in full screen animations. Sure the framerate does not drop, but responsiveness to user input is lagging as opposed to iPad 2.
I love my Android devices, but that video is just badly biased.

Looks good! I did a similar thing with my Nook Color, looks cool and works great. I used Minimalist Text instead of Simpletext.
I guess I have to try it on my TP now!
Ok so initially just looking at the screen grabs my initial reaction was meh. After watching the video I actually quite like it. I don't know if its my cup of tea just to have an entire pane exclusively for facebook feeds or the weather, but the interface works and it looks really good. Get rid of the icons at the top and it would be beautiful. Overall, good job, thumbs up.
Nice and clean! I like it. I could not multilive wallpaper in the market. I could see multipicture live wallpaper. Is that the same?

Haven't ever heard mention of this app, most likely because it's not free, but it's really great. Real simple, sleek, responsive lockscreen that gives you a preview of who has sent/called/emailed recently and even a segmented slider that does different activities depending where you stop sliding to launch your messages/call log/or inbox. Just thought id share, im sure a lot of people would like this as it outperforms apps such as lockbot and lock 2.0 imo.
Does it work in landscape?

Does not, that's kind of a random feature. Either way I at least recommend if you're unhappy with the lockscreen choices we have to take this for a test run at least for the refund period.
Looks good, but there's one major flaw to all lockscreen replacements. They always make your home launcher slower to respond to the home button. There's a really noticable lag associated with pressing the home button.

Doesn't seem to lag here. The only problem is every couple times when waking the phone you see the stock lockscreen for an instant, but as far as home goes its pretty smooth. This one is different than others, it actually asks you to set it as home default and then you select the launcher you prefer the app to work with, in my case launcherpro. I'm diggin it.

Edit: joke people. I do not condone piracy of any type. Besides I would look horrible with a tri corner hat and an eye patch.
Feel free to release your hate for touchwiz, i know we can use other apps to "fix" our phones but there's not an easy solution for everythin, gwhat are the things that you hate the most about it? In my opinion:
1.The lockscreen: Even tough i like the slider for received sms or missed calls i find it ridiculous, its slow and unpractical, you have to drag the wallpaper through 70% to unlock the phone
2.The launcher: its not that bad, but it is NOT smooth while flicking through the homescreens
3.The cheesy blue font, really samsung? a blue font in menus?
4.The messaging app: again the blue font, and the app it's just an iphone ripoff
5.The dialer/contacts: looks ugly and the image for the contacts its streched :/
6. Autobrightness also in the browser? huh? why?
7. Gallery on drugs? Its all sped up and is not overly responsive
8. No "," on the keyboard ( you have to switch to the special characters)
9. No option to deactivate just the keyboard vibration, in order to do it you must deactivate the vibration on the capacitive buttons too
10. Icons are really ugly
11. Hubs are pointless, the only non disposable one is the game hub
12. Samsung apps are horrendous, has someone download something useful from there?
13. No music widget? um why? i know there's a "shortcut" on the notification but a widget would have been nice
14. No text reflow on the browser
I should also mention that the camera app is better than stock android and i also like the way you change the wallpaper and add widgets, the browser is really smooth , is it true it has hardware
acceleration?
I know gingerbread is fugly but starting from ice cream sandwich just stick to making amazing hardware samsung
1. Normal Android and iOS, you have to drag an a thumb size **** for entire screen rather than anywhere of the screen, seems more hard to me.
2. Same on all androids... Try HTC next time.
3. Where did you get blue fonts? I don't see them
8. *cough* I have "." on keyboard. Do you by any chance use another launcher?
14. Actually text reflows on mine, and it is not TW launcher, it is android
Seriously dude, rest are just "objective" rather than facts.
I like TW and it is lighter than any other "default" launchers on rest of Android devices. Even sense on my friend's HTC's feels slow.
I hope Samsung does not give us butt-naked Android UI for ICS... TW4 is next best thing in Android other than core underground.
Please read why rest of Tech-editor hates Android's UI's, since I did not see much using SGS2... Beside it is not like Samsung locked you to use it. There are too many launchers out there...
I think TW is a good solid launcher. I dont use TW daily, but i dont agree with 90% of your points.
Same as the above poster really. i dont have blue fonts and also have a "." on the keyboard.
I'd strongly have to disagree with the not smooth on the home screens. Mine is seriously nippy.
Probably the only reason i dont use it is that i like to change my icons, so i will give you that one.
The stretching in the dial can be fixed by using a picture with the correct resoultion.

I agree 100% with everything! But you forgot the most annoying thing of all. The king of all annoyances! The child of Annoying Orange and Fred! The 100% battery charge notification!!! Who in their right mind would not think of including an option to turn it off?!
In all fairness, most of these issues (including the ball on leg on a hot summer's day battery notification) can be solved through different apps. But why should I?
edit: forgot to add that there is no stock android music widget (or any at all) in the widget list

1. Is it SO hard to move your finger two centimeters on any direction? Try other phones (HTC, Nexus).
2. Yes, it's quite good for most people. I don't really like it and i use Adw Launcher Ex. There's a lot free alternatives too.
3. What's wrong with these fonts? Are you aware of "Themes" section on this forum?
4. Yes, i totally agree on that one. It's an ifone rip off. On older ROMs at least we had an option to change theme, now it's gone. The only thing that really bugs me so much.
5. Pictures are fine for me and dialer app too. Would love to have an option to jump straight into favorites, instead of all contacts, though.
6. Yes and i love it! BTW, you can click "Menu" and disable it in no time.
7. That's slightly modded stock Android gallery and it's performance depends on amount of media files you have. Also, i guess you have some cheap class 2 SD card. And again, you can use QuickPic from Market, it's free and very fast.
8. I guess you meant "," not "." Yes, that's why i use Gingerbread Keyboard. Again, free on Market.
9. There's is an option to deactivate vibration for keyboard only. Settings - Language and keyboard - Samsung keyboard.
10. Personaly i love every single of them. Again, you can change any icon on this phone the way YOU like. It's Android
11-13 BS. Don't like them - don't use. Simple as that. And try some HTC phone and you will be surprised to find about 20 times more of bloatware.
14. Open browser - settings - auto-fit pages.
As i can see, you don't like every single bit on this phone. Why did you buy it? There's a good bunch of other phones.
And one tip: learn to use your phone, before blaming Samsung
I agree with some of your points, OP.
But the BIGGEST thing (at least in my experience) was how crappy Touchwiz performed compared to AOSP. Again, this is at least in my experience.
I hear good things about TW4 though.... I hope it's true!

Sorry, but I'm not seeing anything other than opinion. The vast majority of people actually really like TW on the S2, rating it higher than the other launchers. As for Sense, that's just another Launcher. You may as well start a thread for your favourite word processor, stating how it's better than the others, and then one explaining why you really like a certain art package or database app.
So you prefer Sense to TW. You should have a HTC phone then, not a Samsung one.
I've noticed that the stock Sense app drawer scrolls incredibly slow in the "All Apps" tab and isn't much better in the "Downloaded" tab. Compared to ADW EX it scrolls about as quickly as Verizon gets updates out. Has anyone else experienced this?
My Sense app drawer scrolls just fine.
I have tried both LPP+ & ADWLauncher EX in mine & while both work very well I didn't really notice any speed difference between any of them.

Absolutely! Especially when you use a live wallpaper. It's crawling at about 15FPS it looks like.
I've just decided to either stick with a static wallpaper in Sense, or use whatever I want to in GO Launcher and enjoy the high speed smooth scrolling
I guess I never noticed because I never saw the point in using a Live wallpaper.

I don't typically bother with LWP's either, but I like the ICS Phase Beam LWP, so I tried it out. It's not smooth enough though.
Hopefully having real ICS on this phone with hardware acceleration will help the app drawer to be smoother.
IDK how all that works though or if it effects all aspects of the visual experience or not.
Well, I'm not using a live wallpaper. Just wallpapers from my gallery. I wanted to give Sense a try and I do like it, but the reduced speed of the app drawer is enough to convince me to switch back to the speed & added functionality of ADW EX.
It's not slow, it's designed that way. It is meant to show one full slide at a time rather than flocking through all of them at once. It's just how sense is, you'll need ti install another launcher to change it.

Jim - Yes, I'm aware that it's set up to scroll. Thanks for the heads up on that for anyone who hadn't figured it out. However...
I fixed it. I was scrolling through the app drawer today and hit the "Menu" soft key. I found an option to display the drawer as an alphabetical list instead of an icon grid and now it's fast as can be! I also love the list because it's more readable. I know this might not work for everyone, but hey, it's better than waiting for one slow page after another, right?

Hello everyone, I’m back in the Android family again and I see a lot has changed in the last 3 years. I went into the playstore and don’t see all of the apps I’ve purchased, and I’m assuming that’s because of Android OS compatibility. I was very happy to see some core apps I use were still there, but what happened to the launchers? The variety is nothing like it used to be. At one point in time, I had between 10 - 14 on my phone that were similar but also different for one reason or another. Thankfully Nova Launcher which is my number 1 pick is still available. I think Apex Launcher is also, sadly TSF Shell and Next Launcher are gone. I liked those, but I see Go Launcher is. Now I haven’t used that launcher in at least 7 or 8 years, because they began charging for things that used to be included for free. I remember when that was the top launcher and was worth using. The reviews I see are terrible to say the least. I tried to visit their website and got some message basically stating the site isn’t up as far as I’m concerned. What is going on here, and what could they possibly be selling for an in app purchase for $109? I would never spend that kind of money for an in app purchase. Are there any other good launchers available that I’m missing? I saw a couple of launchers that were based on Windows Desktop layouts, and a MAC OS layout.
Launcher choice
I didn't like how the stock launcher only gave you only a few applications to choose from on the top screen when you were in 'T' mode. I played around with Nova Launcher and changing the options to auto rotate seems to work pretty well. Let me...

Microsoft Launcher seems to also work well with the Wing.
You will lose the Carousel Apps though in swivel mode.
But it seems to take care of the 5 second delay that KLWP has when launching Apps from the Home Screen.
Nova also takes care of that though
Wow that looks good. Is that KLWP also? I haven't played around with a build your own widget since UCCW.

Yes, mainly KLWP. Not really a widget but an entire theme built using KLWP.
It's a fairly steep learning curve, but works well on the Wing

I switched to Nova to play around with KLWP, because I am not entirely sure if Win-X Launcher (NO ADS) is compatible. Its either that, and/or I really just don't know what I'm doing yet. I plan to learn more about to use it this weekend.
I use Total Launcher and have for years. It gives you a blank palette to place any widget, any icon, anywhere. Allows for windows with swipe actions. Use of any icon pack in the play store. Mix and match icon styles. Completely customizable. Works with KLWP and KWGT. Has Tasker plugins.
Overall, IMO its more freedom to customize than any other launcher. You be the judge. Happy Launching...
