Is there anyway to modify the News and Weather Widget from TouchWiz 4.0 to work on CM7?
I really like the look of the widget and there is nothing like it in the market.
no. There's no way to get it working on an aosp based rom

Im always torn by using a rom with sense and without sense. I like using roms without sense but i love the sense widgets. Is there a way that I can only flash the sense widgets?
Launcherpro Plus will get you decently close.

my only problem with launcher pro is that when I use launcher pro it takes awy my preset dock bar thats preset up with virus rom. problems ....problems
Colorize Widgets, Pure Messaging Widget, Android Agenda Widget, WidgetSoid, and Beautiful Widgets.
Those alone should get everything you are after and then some. Two you will have to pay for, but it not like its much.
Contact integration is the only thing that I cannot get anywhere near in regards to the way Sense handles it.
Hi friends,
I have not rooted my HTC Legend till now. It seems so hard to root it. Tried to root once but failed and all my apps were gone. I really like the features of Cyanogen Mod 7 but I really like the HTC Sense look. I want to root my phone just because I need more space to install all the applications I like. So I wanted to ask you great guys that is there a way to root my phone and install it with CM7 and then install latest HTC Sense Launcher and HTC Widgets.
Thank You
Sorry for Noob Questions.
HTC Legend OTA 2.2

You can try some ADW Launcher Sense-like skins + Beautiful Widgets if you want to stick to CM7. If you really like Sense, try Blay0's ROM which has ap2sd and data2sd support - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866849
l recommend cm7 with launcher pro plus +sense theme +ntsense theme chooser theme and beautiful widgets.

Instead of beautiful Widgets, look for the older version of Fancy Widget.

Yeah.. It has the H7C theme..
Sent from somewhere outta space using my phone..
actually i'd go with weather & toggle widget with the h7c skins, because it also has the addon that gives you the weather animations of sense
Thanks guys for the information. I really liked the BlaY0 ROM. But it lacks Gingerbread. It is based on FroYo, right? Correct me if I am wrong guys.
Why doesn't anyone post a complete video of the ROM on the YouTube?
It's based on froyo yes
Is it possible to port some of the the ICS system apps and widgets to run on Gingerbread? Specifically the calendar, calendar widget, and weather widget.
I would go with no.
Specifically calendar.
The calendar is infused with framework, which as far as I know you can't port.
Most of the ics apps are in the framework to increase the speed of things and the way they look.
Most of the things you have now that look like ics for froyo are themes not the actual framework

Hey there!
I'm looking for a Clock widget looking similar to the one that is used in motorola stock roms.
The installer don't work, so could anyone suggest me a widget.
Thanks in advance
Beautiful Widgets
This is the clock widget I prefer.
Sense
I use sense clock and weather widget, don't know what the Motorola one's like, but this one's great.
Why not try an ics style one?
I'm now using beautiful widgets and ics theme. But I'd like to have one looking like the SGS2

I've always wondered if it was possible to use HTC's widgets (specifically the clock and weather widgets) on CM9 or any other custom rom for that matter. I've always been limited to only using Sense custom roms because I really enjoy HTC widgets. Thanks!
Sense widgets only work on Sense ROMs
though there are similar widget skins available for Beautiful Widgets and for Fancy Widgets

Similar does not equal same though. I really like the HTC Sense clock and weather widget. Its truly beautiful. And its truly a flip clock with the flip animation. The ones from Beautiful Widgets and Fancy Widgets don't compare imo. They don't look as good and they don't do the animations...

even more so with the Sense 4.0 version being much better than the older ones, unfortunately, it's one of the trade-offs of switching launchers, or to AOSP ROMs.

I have a hard time believing these devs can't find a way to recreate that flip clock. They can't rip that out of a sense ROM?

I believe that Sense apps and widgets are proprietary and require libraries that are only found in Sense ROMS. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Fancy widget originally did recreate HTC's flip clock but then they got a Cease and Desist letter from HTC

BUMP!
I would also love the Sense clock on an alternative launcher.... Its awesome
The problem is all sense widgets work off the sense framework and sense resources. That's what makes it difficult to port to a aosp Rom.

I was hoping to come back to this thread and see better news. So is it official? No HTC weather or clock on any other roms? HTC really messed up with the way they handle multitasking in my opinion. That is why I need to go to a different rom. I just want to take the clock and the weather with me
see the thing is. it wouldn't necessarily be all that difficult to port them over its just that they can't... their HTC's widgets not googles. there is weird licencing and such around it which is why you can't find anything that looks JUST like them in the market and why they have never been in aosp roms or in launcher other than the htc launcher that comes on htc phones.

So are you saying the creators of these roms may get sued by HTC if they included the clock and weather widget in there rom? Or are you saying it is impossible to find these widgets because they aren't a simple file or apk? Sorry if this is a basic question

both, they're APKs, but they're also 100% completely tied to HTC's Sense framework and files, so they're never gonna be found outside of a Sense ROM, and it's also why they're not available outside of the Sense launcher.
You could try:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627140
Sense is built DEEP into the ROM. You can't just rip a piece out of it and expect it to work
Or, you may want to look at these -
