I thought I would make a post , since I keep seeing people asking how to get back to stock after the OTA. We no longer have to mess with the Mainver error because of an old RUU. Football has posted the most recent RUU, on android develpement in the Vigor Rom collection sticky.
So before you get frustrated on how to get back to stock and unrooted to return phone , go download the newest RUU
Like I said Football gets all the credit, just making people aware because of the multiple inquiries of getting back to stock post OTA.
P.S. if someone can help me find a thread on how to link , I will learn how to post a proper link
Link
I am not sure what link you want. Football's online locker for RUU's is
http://www.filefactory.com/f/c2e320ee1d5c7886/
sorry, noob question here; how do you install the RUU? do i just run the .exe with my phone connected?

yep or you can pull the rom.zip from it, and rename to PH98IMG.zip and install through hboot.

Thank you ! So how do you post links ?
This is probably a dumb question but what is the point of this right now since there aren't many 2.01 roms out yet?
Is this just an easy way to get from 1.02 to 2.01? I'm on 1.02 still, using a GB rom. So If I used this RUU my phone would be unrooted and I'd be on the official OTA?
I'm guessing this RUU will be more useful once more 2.01 roms come out?

It's very useful to those that updated to the OTA.
If they have issues sometimes only the RUU can save you, and when they updated they had no RUU to use.
now they do.

All you have to do is highlight the url in your browser bar, copy (ctrl+c) and paste (ctrl+v) it!
It will show up as a clickable link because the forum software knows if it starts with http:// that it is a link (or something like that). Then if you go to edit your post I think you'll see and were added before and after it which makes it clickable.
Ha! See... it made my "and" above clickable because I put those brackets in my post that you can not see now due to forum coding. lol. If you go to quote this post you'll see them. It's these without the spaces [ u r l ] and [ / u r l ]

Sorry for the noob question. I am not a noob to rooting or flashing, but I am new to the 3d. I just got one sent to me from Asurion. It has hboot 1.40, which I know I can root with revolutionary, which I am going to do shortly. But the software is on 1.13.651.7, which I can see if the rom the phone originally shipped with.
So I am trying to find a stock rooted version of the latest update from a few days ago. I just spent a half hour trying to find it, and all I can find is unrooted versions of it, which will probably update my hboot to 1.5, which I dont want. So can y'all help me out and point me to the thread with the stock rooted zip of the latest update that I can flash WITHOUT updating my hboot?

Off topic for this thread, but have you tried flashing Trib's ROM with 4EXT recovery and S-ON (SmartFlash) enabled after loading the RUU.exe and doing the HTC unlock. You must be relocking before you run the RUU or else it fails with S-ON.
Some Evo 3D's just don't want to run any ICS kernel with S-ON so you might have to get S-OFF with the wire trick or hboot downgrade.

The RUU.exe passed the Avast virus scan (I also scanned my temp directory after the ROM files were extracted) so I flashed it to my E3D and everything seems normal, which means at least two of us have flashed this successfuly. If other people are interested in downloading it, I will mirror it on devhost, but since the source is unknown use it at your own risk.

Contents should be the same as the official Sprint OTA ICS update, but the RUU.exe can be used to reset the phone to stock regardless of what is currently installed where the OTA requires a mostly stock setup, including recovery. S-OFF users can run the RUU.exe without any preparation and without affecting their S-OFF status, S-ON users need to relock the bootloader before running or it will fail with an errror (at least it did with the GB RUU's).
These versions come in handy if your phone is doing wierd things and you want to start with a clean base, since they update all the software and firmware to total stock status, which also comes in handy if you want to sell or swap your phone. This might also help the people that took the VM firmware update, but I wouldn't bet on that.

Here's the dev-host download if anybody needs it. It was automatically virus checked and I've flashed it on my phone without issues.
Edit: I'm adding a link to shipped-roms.com since some people are having problems with dev-host. It's the last RUU on that page.

I've been scouring the interwebs for the 2.28 firmware update, as well as the latest OTA radios. I have not been able to find either. I -am- currently on the newest radios, but the 2.25 HBOOT. I realize I could run an RUU but I'd rather do each separately. I used to have them somewhere, but I think they got dumped with my last /downloads purge...

Actually, the first link is HBoot only, but the second link is HBoot and Radios together as one file... OP only needs to flash the second file, rename to PH98IMG.zip and place it on the SD Card, reboot into HBoot and the rest should be automatic.

Not knowing the knowledge level of the OP, I was clarifying the contents of the files, one has Hboot only, the other contains Hboot and radios only.
What I was adding was clarification since "Radios, etc" doesn't really imply that HBoot is included and it may even be considered by some to contain other things with the "etc" added... That is all, nothing more.
Can some one direct me to where the most up to date radio is for the HTC EVO LTE. And if you can be specific in your explanation to which file or files I need to flash, that would be great. I am S-off, so I have no concerns there.

You don't flash them in recovery. There should be instructions in that thread, which would also be the best place to post your question about it.

That's not the newest radios, and no, they are not flashed through recovery. They are flashed through the bootloader. If you aren't planning on updating to Android 4.3, however, those are the newest and will work fine. For more info, click the top link in my sig and read the section regarding firmware updates.

You are right, I forgot you do flash them in the boot loader. My question now is that I'm currently on 4.1.1 but may in the future update to 4.3. As a result, can you point me specifically to the file that I need to flash in the boot loader. Is the file I need to flash in the boot loader called 4.13.651.4 Sense 5 Android 4.3 - Odex or is it something else. Sorry for asking such stupid questions, but I'm getting confused.
If you want to update to 4.3 you should run the RUU. That will make sure everything gets updated. The RUU will also change how the internal storage is set up. In that same link I mentioned above, there is a link to all the applicable RUU's for this device.
